My Thoughts
This book is a quick read, if you are just reading it; and then again, it might take longer if you start answering all those prompts for yourself!! But it promises hours of fun, over and over again, when you use it for its intended purpose – play the game!
A flip of a coin, a prompt from a card, and a simple set of rules make this an easy to play game. And this book has an impressive number of prompts – over 600 in fact – written in a set of over 200 cards. There is also a point system, which means there is a winner for this game!!
From the book…
So, yes, the game is sure to be pure fun while also providing ways to know each other better, even your closest ones, as well ensure many new interesting conversations. I loved that this book offers ideas on how to play it online (sorely needed now!) so you can play with family and friends all over the world if you want to.
This is guaranteed to be a hit at gatherings – in-person or online; with friends, family, and even those we don’t know well – for it is an ice-breaker or a get-to-know-betterer; and of course loads of fun!
Side-note
We have played a round or two at home already and we all loved it!! I do think I have some acting skills (a teeny bit at least)!
After looking through the book, I decided to check online and realized that yes, there is a board game for this already, but converting it into a book is also a cool idea.
And there is also a Junior version of this book/game as well as the board game for the younger ones (note that my Target links point to the Junior version)
In Summary
A great to have book sure to bring out the smiles, the laughs, and those hidden truths as well as those latent acting talents!!!
Disclaimer: Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the eARC of this book. All opinions are my own.
The book begins by sharing a short insight as to the origin of the game. Clear instructions on how to play the game are then given, together with some variations for larger groups, video calls and ways to make the game a little more interesting!
With over 200 question cards included in the book, you will enjoy hours of fun with this book. I liked the large variety of questions there were, some really have you thinking and I can imagine this being a great game to play as an ice breaker to get to know people better. This would be a great present for someone off to university or College, or as a Christmas gift for families with teenagers.
This book is intended for teenagers and adults, and I would agree with this based on the types of questions on the cards. The end of the book shares some other games by the author and I note that there is a junior version available if you wanted to allow younger children to play.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This question-game book is a ton of fun! We laughed a lot, at both the true stories and the made-up ones! My family enjoyed it immensely, and we plan to play it when the extended relatives get together, too.
I was intrigued by this book because it is also a game. A book as a game? I read through the instructions and it sounded like a lot of fun. I got together a few of my neighbors over Zoom and we played away. We had a hilarious time. There are over 600 questions and some of them are deep, others are light. You choose a question you want to answer and then flip a coin to know if your story should be true or made up. Then the other players vote on if they think your story is true or false. You win points if you're right and add them to your score. Or, you subtract them from your score if you don't vote correctly. I didn't know my neighbors very well but I felt like I did by the end of this game! Now when we see each other, it feels like we've been friends for a while because of the conversations we've had. I highly recommend this book. It's tremendous fun. I can't wait to play it with others.
You’re Pulling My Leg! by Allen Wolf is such a fun game. I played it with my family, and we had a fabulous time.
The best part is that we were able to play it online on a video conferencing app, as we’re all scattered around in different states.
This game is really easy to get the hang of. It’s not overly complicated, or full of tedious rules. That is quite nice because it’s not confusing or boring once you start playing.
We had some hilarious moments sharing true (and fake) stories with each other.
A really great way to pass the time and enjoy some great moments with family!
Highly recommended for parties, family events, and even for some quality bonding time with friends and family.
