A most enjoyable book. I did get a surprise when I reached the end when I saw it was the first part of a series - I should read the blurb more carefully. This part was very much an introduction, setting a scene, and I’m looking forward to see where the story goes in the next part.
This was a beautifully written short story that has just brighten ed up
My day and was the perfect quick read for in the bath. I thoroughly a enjoyed the story of fearne and how her friendship with her elderly neighbour and her dog scamp gave her comfort at a difficult time while she was grieving the loss of her brother. I loved this so much have pre ordered the follow up the happy place to see how learned journey back to happiness continues
A super quick read this morning from @cathybramley I really enjoyed this induction to Fearne, Ethel and Scamp the dog!! It was lovely to see Fearne and Ethel’s friendship and although a little heartbreaking in places. I’m now looking forward to reading more in the next book which I’ve already pre-ordered !! 😊 Thank you @netgalley and @orionbooks for providing me with this to read and review.
With thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the arc, which I have enjoyed reading.
As always with a book by Cathy Bramley, or in this case a short story, they are an easy read story to snuggle down and enjoy. Rescue me was a story about an elderly woman and her younger next door neighbour and about the care of her dog, Scamp for when something happens to her. An enjoyable read.

Cute short story. Nice way to introduce characters but I thought this was a full size story which I wish it was. Scamp was precious and warmed my heart. "You're never lonely when you've got a dog".
Fantastic short story: a great introduction to a lovely bunch of characters. Already invested in Fearnes story and I’m looking forward to reading more about her and the fun loving Scamp! Ethel is a treasure, one of those special characters. Great writing and a great idea for getting us interested in what is to come.
This is a lovely short story, I really liked Fearne as a character and am excited to read more about her. It’s a great way to introduce the characters from the new series
