He kidnaps her and heads to the Wild West. They both have to resolve their current life and they both learn of their own inner strength on the twists /turns taken one the way .

A well written novel.

The Green Lace Corset is a dual timeline story set in the American West in 1885 and the present time in San Francisco.

Anne McFarland’s an artist, while on holidays in Flagstaff, she buys the antique green corset from a second-hand shop, and it has a black lace trimmed bodice and a flouncy skirt. Anne lives in a small studio apartment in San Francisco, she’s getting over the loss of her beloved mentor Sylvia and break up from her fiancée Sergio. She applies for a new position teaching art, her idea is to create a woodland mosaic, and her life is turned upside down with an unexpected personal development.

Sally Sue Sullivan lives in Missouri, she’s on her way to stay with her sick Aunt Sarah, a man boards the train, she recognizes him, she was the only witness, when he robbed a bank, and the law are looking for him. With a bounty on his head, Cliff abducts Sally and takes her to a remote ranch in Arizona near Flagstaff. Once winter hits, Sally and Cliff are snowed in, at first she’s angry, hostile and recklessly tries to escape. Sally’s heart starts to warm towards the Civil War veteran, wanted bank robber and a man who has taken good care of her, been a gentleman and she no longer feels like an unattractive spinster.

As owners of The Green Lace Corset, Sally and Anne have to face their fears, challenges, and insecurities. By doing this, they find happiness, love, and the joy of creating an unexpected family. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, I need to read, The Black Velvet Coat and The Silver Shoes by Jill G. Hall. I own both books, they have been sitting on my kindle for a while, and four stars for the first book I have read in the trilogy.

Two brilliant women from two different eras trying to own their identities! This blurb had me hooked!
I haven’t read the other two books in the Anne McFarland series but now I will go back and read for sure!
I enjoyed the concept of both women having a green lace corset as the commonality. Ey wren them and that’s what helped them accept their individuality and become the strong women they were.

The Green Corset is the third installment in a romance series that follows a singular protagonist in a contemporary setting and a different historical protagonist in each installment. However, I went in with no knowledge of that fact and can certainly say that I was pretty easily able to read the book as a standalone. I did find that I was more invested in the historical narrative than the contemporary one, but that might just be a preference thing in addition to not having built the relationship with the character through the previous 2 books. All in all, an enjoyable experience!

Jill G. Hall, the author of “The Green Lace Corset” has written an intriguing and captivating novel. The genres for this novel are Historical Fiction, Romance, Women’s Fiction, and Fiction. The author vividly describes two different timelines and two different characters, who must make serious decisions in their lives. This is the third in a series of books and can be read alone. The author describes her colorful and dramatic characters as complex, complicated, courageous, and brave.

In 1885, Sally Sue is riding a train to visit her aunt and is aware there is a handsome familiar man sitting in her car. She offers him half her sandwich and then realizes that this is the very same man that had robbed the bank she was in, that someone was killed. Suddenly Sally Sue finds herself kidnapped and headed to the Wild West.

Back to the present, 135 years later, Anne McFarland is an artist who lives in San Francisco, who loves to browse in off-beat stores to look for objects that can be used in her art. She is applying for an art position and special program at the museum. One of the things that catch Anne’s eye is a sexy green and black lace corset. Anne immediately wonders about the history of this corset.

Both Sally Sue and Anne have to address their current problems and make decisions that are very difficult. There are twists and turns, adventure, and suspense that are in this story. I appreciate that Jill G. Hall discusses the importance of self-worth, family, sisterhood, friendship, love, and hope. I would highly recommend this thought-provoking novel.

This story is about Anne McFarland who is a modern day woman, an artist and Sally Sue who is a young innocent girl 135 years before Anne's time..
The story of both these women is linked by the green lace corset and how it changes their lives.. It was easy to follow the present and the 1885 year as it went back and forth..
Sally Sue has had her decisions already made for her however Anne is struggling to find her path..
I enjoyed reading this book going through both their journey which were years apart and both dealing with their own and how it moulded them to amazing women who learnt so much..
The author has written it beautifully with such a vivid description for you to follow. It is entertaining 😊

The Green Lace Corset is the 3rd book in series but it can stand alone. The story follows Anne: a pregnant artist and Sally Sue: a kidnapped sweetie living in old Arizona. The corset bonds their story and helps them figure out what they want and need from life.
I live in Arizona so I loved learning about the history and liked all the little references throughout the book.

The Green Lace Corset is an immersive read, with characters that are likeable and you connect with, a plot which transports you away and makes you forget the world and lots of heart and emotion.
It's a book that's great for curling up with in front of a nice warm fire on a cold day as it's brings the reader so much comfort.

The Green Lace Corset is the third book in the Anne McFarland series but the first one I have read. The book is a dual storyline of Anne, a modern day artist who has to make new decisions about her professional and personal life after she finds out she is pregnant and Sally Sue, a woman in the late 19th century who is kidnapped by a dangerous but handsome bank robber and taken to live with him at a homestead in the wilderness of North Arizona. The only thing that is common between these two women living in different eras is a green lace corset dress which plays a part in helping them both find their inner strength to carve their own path in life and love.

I quite liked this book. I was more drawn to Sally Sue's story and her journey from being naive to a confident and self assured woman. She doesn't get her conventional happy ending but in place of that, she discovers a stronger side to herself, capable of surviving on her own terms.

A tale of two owners of the same article of clothing.Each finds her circumstances changed and by design her life going in a direction she must decide. The connection of the corset sets in motion a realization of a deeper individual. A third installment in the series Anne and Sally are not only bound by their corset, but the reserves they find within themselves leave us sure there will be another story . I loved the grit Sally shows and Anne while not as pressed to change still rises to her own occasion.

Easy to follow as it went back and forth from 1885 to present, this is the first book I've read in this series, even though I hadn't re add the first two I didn't feel like I was missing anything. Both of the characters were fascinating.

I've been trying to finish this book since October (a month ago) and I still can't make a decent progress on it. I already lost interest and am unable to care about the characters and the story. The writing seems okay, unfortunately it can no longer hold my interest. Dnf for now. :(

This book is a bit different than any I've read before. The story is about two different women living in the different time eras. Ann McFarland is an artist living the single life. Having recently broken off an on again off again relationship with Sergio, she is living her life to her satisfaction. She has just returned from a road trip she took to Arizona. While there, she picked up all sorts of trinkets and sorts, including a green laced corset, to which she adventurously wears out one evening. That night she had quite the night, even ending up having a one night stand. One that also got her thinking. Is she really over Sergio? That night kick started many challenges she would be faced with as well as decisions she would have to make. All things that would lead her down a path she never thought she would be taking. Sally Sue Sullivan is from another time all together. She is on the train to go care for her ailing aunt. Quiet and down on herself, she sees a future of living with her mother as a spinster for the rest of her life. However, the universe has different plans for her. She meets a man on the train, coincidentally the same man that robbed a bank she was in, holding a gun to her. When she makes him aware that she recognizes him, he kidnaps her and takes her to western Arizona. He takes over a ranch that had been abandoned and while he teaches her ways of being more independent, she in turn plans her getaway.

this was a really good read, I enjoyed the time period and getting to know the characters in this world. I look forward to reading more from the author.

This book is the 3rd book of the Anne McFarland series but this is the first book I have read from this author. In a nutshell, Anne McFarland moves to San Francisco and is applying for a residency at the museum with her so called enemy, Karl. She also buys a Green Lace Corset from a Flagstaff resale boutique shop and this corset would change her life forever. Many years later, somewhere in 1885, Sally Sue is travelling from Missouri and she comes across a man named Cliff who is wanted for a bank robbery and murder. She is then kidnapped by this man and was then taken to somewhere remote in Arizona.

Because of this Green Lace Corset, this teaches both Anne and Sally Sue some life lessons and helps them to make decisions wisely.

I really like the whole story plotline. The beginning was a bit boring but towards the middle and towards the end, it got interesting. I like how the chapters changed from the present in Anne's point of view to the past which is Sally's point of view and how this corset affected both their lives in different ways. Though this book is a continuation of the series, it was not really necessary to know what really happened in the other two books. I like the friendship between Anne and Fay, Sally Sue seems to be a naive girl but the characters were actually likable. Really liked learning about the history during the late 1880's in America so kind of learned a bit.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this book. Worth four stars!

This historical novel brings together two women from different times via a green lace corset. The meaning of this piece of clothing for both women is explored and the reader gets to go along for the ride.

I'm one of those people who is persnickety about reading a book series in order. I would not have requested this one had I realized it was the third in a trilogy. I found this book to be a fairly standard dual time-line historical, but I felt wrong-footed as I read it -- like I was coming in at the end of the story (as, indeed, I was).

As always, I thank NetGalley for offering me an ARC copy to read and review, but I sure wish they would label series books better. I'm sure I'm not the only reviewer who feels this way.

The Green Lace Corset is a sweet novel about two women in different eras who are at a fork in the road of their respective lives. We first meet Anne McFarland. Anne is a mixed media artist, who specializes in collages and mosaics. While visiting Flagstaff, Arizona, where she's purchasing items that strike her artistic spirit, she comes across a beautiful green lace corset and skirt in a second-hand store. Back at home in San Francisco, Anne's life is in a turmoil both personally and professionally, and she has some big decisions to make.

We next meet Sally Sue Sullivan, a naïve young woman who is kidnapped by a handsome man who she recognizes as the man who robbed the bank where she works just days earlier. The year is 1885, and Sally Sue's captor takes her to the wild west, a territory now known as Arizona. Over a span of years, Sally Sue plans her escape time after time, but is always thwarted. Obviously, she is the original owner of the titular green lace corset.

I didn't know until after I finished the novel that it was the third in a series, but it read well as a stand-alone. Though it was well written and the concept was interesting, I never really connected with the story. I expected the green corset to be more integral to the two women's stories, but it really wasn't. I also didn't connect with either either woman emotionally. Still, it is a sweet story, and a quick read.

A lovely book, that gets a reader engaged so that they have to finish it. I would recommend it for the visual imagery, the author is an artist, and the story of two women in separate times, who are connected by their love of beauty, in nature, and in art, in Anne's case.
