I was enthralled with the promised idea of the book, but in the end I didn't feel like I wholly connected to the poems. Some I liked, some left me untouched, but in the end I felt inspired to gain new perspectives on life, to make my own poetic rules.
I love celebrating National Poetry Month and this collection includes several poems that will be added to my April rotation.
For all who are not "poetry readers", this book is a great beginning. Light and playful, these poems allow the reader to observe life as it would be if poetry had its way. The language is easily accessible and a poem for each day of the month allows the reader to absorb the poetry in a daily reading.
The conceit of this book of poems is fun to read, and would be interesting to explore in a classroom setting.
This book was free and sent to me as an ARC on NetGalley. However, all reviews are of my own opinion.
This book would be loved by everyone who chooses to read it - people will enjoy the fact it is quick and some of the poems are witty.
This book can be read throughout the month but I chose to read it in one sitting, there are 31 days to read. Some could require deeper thought as they are shorter, but I guess this leaves for the imagination.
I did re-read one or two to completely get a full understanding but I loved the experience of yet another poetry book!
I wouldn’t personally call them poems, rather so, entries. However, this book is definitely worth a read!
This was an unusual set of unique "poems". I was reading them one day at a time -- and spending some time on each, thinking about what the author was getting at. Even if the poem was silly, perhaps I could find something in there that would be illuminating. More often than not, I did find some lesson or thought to hang on to. While many offerings did leave me scratching my head, there were a couple of beauty that will stick with me. Interesting enough, but "instructional" should be viewed as optimistic.

These poems were fun, and there was no way after reading the first couple that I'd be able to wait a month before reading them all.
A Month's Worth of Instructional Poems is a book with short poems to read one each day, but I read it in a sitting! I love the way their witty and simple at the same time. I read a few of them a couple of times to understand the deeper meaning behind them, but overall I loved the experience. Though I won't say that they can be called as poems, conventionally, yet they definitely are worth a read!!
I love a book that comes with instructions on how to read it. This one instructs us to read one page per day over the course of a month, but I cheated and read the book in its entirety during my lunch break. It was refreshing and thought-provoking, and put me in a much better mood than I was in when I came to it. I would definitely recommend following the reading instructions and seeing how you feel after a month!
Today I am #reading: A Month’s Worth of Instructional Poems by Rebecca Bridge. Short, concise yet these poems dig a little deeper in “instruction”, hitting an emotional cord.
A very welcome diversion with beautifully written and compelling poems. As an occasional poetry reader I enjoyed these selections.
Enjoyed the poems in this anthology.
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for my ARC. All opinions are my own.

A Month's Worth of Instructional Poems is exactly as it sounds, it's 31 poems for how to live your life.
I really enjoyed the format and content of this poetry book. Some of the poems felt a tad nonsensical for my liking but there were other poems I loved wholly. If you break the rules as I did and don't read only one a day, this book is a super quick read. I wish I had the time luxury to spend a month reading this book because I feel like I might have enjoyed it even more than I already did.
This extremely short book was so great I read it multiple times. Bridge's images in her How To poems were eye opening, and inspiring. I can't wait to read it with my high school students!
I really enjoyed this book! It’s set up to be read one poem per day for a month. The poems are short, like fortune cookies or vignettes. They take no time at all to read, but some of them do stay with you. Quirky and, at times, wise. Recommended!

The instruction at the beginning of the book said to read one poem a day for a month, but I couldn't resist reading the whole thing at once. This is a collection of sarcastic and great poems full of similes and metaphors. Everyday events and human feelings are compared to the very common items and phenomenons, it's so good and lighthearted.
I loved reading these poems and definitely be reading one a day over the coming months.

A Month's Worth of Instructional Poems is for everyone. Readers will enjoy its quick, witty poems regardless of how they feel about poetry. Many poems, despite their length, were able to impact the reader through imagery and (Day 2, Day 4, Day 6, and Day 15 are all among my favorites)..
In terms of constructive criticism, the book would benefit from extending the existing poems further. Some days had so much potential for symbolism and other literary devices but fell short (See Day 13, Day 19, Day 20,or Day 10). Even with the obvious stylistic choices, I felt a few poems could've been expanded in order to fully immerse and/or move the reader. In short: I liked the poems enough that I wanted more.
Overall, I would recommend this book to readers who hesitate to read poetry; this book would surely improve their perceptions of the style. I would also recommend this book to people who are fond of quick/witty humor.

The book instructs you to read a poem a day for a month, but it's a short book and I enjoyed it so I read it quicker.
These are great poems! Most are two lines at most. The titles are informative. The poems are thoughtful and fun.
This is a heartfelt collection!

I gave 2 stars to this short book of poems. I found some poems to be really good but I didn’t get half of them. I feel like I was missing something as I was trying to understand a hidden and deeper meaning. I was perhaps looking too closely and there wasn’t any? I don’t know. I’m a bit disappointed.

I love poetry, but sometimes struggle with more “classic” deep poetry. So I decided to try this to see what it was like, and it’s so enjoyable!
31 simple, short poems, perfect for beginners at reading poetry, or for people with limited reading time (as the books instructions state to read one a day - I broke that rule though 😂).
I loved how thought provoking each poem is, encouraging reflection and self assessment - my fave poems are the ones on day 16; How To Explain Humans, and Day 5; How You Can Say What You Really Think.
Overall this is a really nice read.
