Another great Josie Quinn book.
The town is under attack from torrential rain which is breaking the riverbanks. While out with Gretchin they pull a body out of the water the girl is wearing Ray, Josie's dead ex's baseball jacket. The girl has been dead 16 years and Josie knew her it's a bully by the name of Beverly Urben. They start talking to peop!e and discover that they thought Beverlyand her mum had done a moonlight flit. But obviously someone murdered Beverly and buried her in a cellar. Was it her mother of somebody they got entangled with.
Loved this book
Thanks NetGalley

I don't know how it's possible, but every book that Lisa writes for this series just makes me love it even more. It's definitely my favourite crime thriller series I've read and I already want more before I've even finished the previous book. I was only halfway through this one and I was already gutted that it was going to end and I'd have to wait for the next one, but I couldn't put it down. I practically read it in one sitting. I was undoubtedly gripped.

The whole plot to this one was something so unexpected and cryptic, exactly what I crave from this series, I didn't know what was going on or what was going to happen until it actually happened. I loved how it all mingled in together so you didn't know what was real, who was lying and obviously whodunnit. I also love cold cases, going back nearly 20 years to an unsolved murder was very mysterious and perfect because it relates back to Joises past. And plots that include going back into her past are always my favourites.

As always, I seriously recommend reading this series if you love a mysterious, action packed, heartbreaking crime thriller series with an incredible female protagonist.

Save Her Soul is the 9th book in the Detective Josie Quinn series, but it can be read as a stand-alone. I had read the previous books but sometimes I get my series mixed together with others. The author did a wonderful job detailing the backstory. This book is a well written, fast-paced, page-turner with a shocking ending that I did not see coming. I loved it. I definitely recommend this series and can't wait to read more.

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Lisa Regan for a copy of "Save Her Soul" in exchange of an honest review.

After several days of heavy rain and flooding the town of Denton, Josie is out there helping in the rescue missions. When a house goes down in a landslide a long kept secret emerges from the basement and Josie has to find a killer and hold on to the good memories she has of her childhood friend, high school sweetheart and first husband. As usual the author captured my attention from the first chapter and it was impossible to put the book down. Highly recommended series!

In this 9th installment of a long-running series featuring Detective Josie Quinn, the very foundations of her life are questioned as she investigates a murder that has relevance to her teenage years.

Major flooding in Denton, Pennsylvania, has Josie and her colleague, Det. Gretchen Palmer, out on the water in an inflatable boat doing water rescues when they spot a blue, plastic tarp wrapped around a floating body in the rushing currents. The victim is identified as Beverly Urban, a girl that Josie had gone to high school with and who had been presumed moved away decades ago. The autopsy shows a gunshot to the back of the head and the manner of death is homicide. Somehow the preserved body is remarkably intact and Beverly is wearing a letter jacket that belonged to Josie's former boyfriend and husband, Ray. It's a small town with lots of secrets. NO SPOILERS.

This was OK but far too much contrived coincidence with Josie's past. Also feel like the excessive descriptions of the flooding and details of all Josie's crazy misadventures in the water went overboard. She has the most messed up family situation and relationships and that, along with her convoluted past history, has just gotten to be almost too much. I had figured out most of the big twists and didn't find the thrills or suspense I was hoping for with this one. Might just be ready to be done with Josie and this series.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this e-book ARC to read and review.

We're back with book 9 in the Josie Quinn series by Lisa Regan. It's so nice to return to Denton and the citizens who live there, it's kind of like visiting old friends. Except now isn't a great time to visit because there's rain and flooding.

The book starts right off with the action. Denton is flooding and during a search and rescue mission, Josie Quinn puts herself in harm’s way and recovers a dead body. And we are off to the races to identify the victim and solve the case. Turns out, the body is connected to Josie’s past which we explore more of through flashback scenes.

The victim is connected to both Josie and her deceased ex-husband, Ray. The flashbacks reveal more about Josie and Ray in their teenage years. This is book nine in the series; Ray died back in book one, returning to Josie’s past relationship with Ray so many books later, after the character has grown so much, it felt a bit…redundant? But the discovery of the body and the case itself is interesting.

We also get to see a vulnerable side of Josie, which she does not reveal often, and it involves Josie’s grandmother, Lisette, and a character named Sawyer. I did not like Sawyer when we first met him and by the end of the book, my opinion had not changed. I felt really bad for Josie and one hundred percent understood why she felt threatened by the revelation. 100% Team Josie haha.

So far, in the series, we’ve really only witnessed the growing bond between Josie and Trinity. In book 8, we saw more of the relationship between Josie and her mom, dad, and Patrick. And we got insights into the family dynamic between Dad and Patrick which was really nice.

Patrick and his girlfriend make an appearance here, it’s nice to see Josie building a relationship with him away from Trinity and her mom and dad. But it really was just an appearance and Josie was distracted by the case, so I do hope that as he’s now living close by, she continues to see him when she’s not so distracted. Once again, the focus seems to be more on Trinity and Josie. Trinity’s scene in the book is small but more detailed and emotionally engaging than the scene with Patrick.

It’s nice to see the little moments with Lisette, Patrick, Trinity, and Misty. And I always like exploring the dynamic Josie has with her work family as well, how those relationships have grown and evolved over the series. Especially her relationship with Noah which is both professional and personal. I just sometimes wish the focus was more on those relationships and less so on Ray, who is Josie’s past and has been dead since book 1!

Lisa Regan is a good writer, she is great at setting a sense of place, providing little details so you feel like you’re right there with the characters, and building the tension. I have never been involved in a flashflood but through her writing, I felt like I was right there in the boat with Josie, our hearts racing, watching the house get washed away.

Man, I do have to say, this was such an edge-of-your-seat read. The adrenaline starts pumping and you can’t put this book down until you get to the end. Like the previous books in the series, this book is well written and engaging.

And, as I always say, if you haven’t read the other books in the series you should start with book 1 and not book 9! Otherwise you miss out an all the growth and evolution the characters have been through.

I would like to thank Netgalley for an advance copy of Save Her Soul by Lisa Regan.

What do you do when an investigation suddenly turns your own personal history upside down? In this book Josie suddenly realizes she didn't really know her high school love. As she starts to unravel the story of a co-student at high school, she realizes she didn't know the people she was around at all. While you might guess at the ending, it's a fun read, and seeing how it all evolves is half the fun!

For Josie, this case is different. It is personal and brings with it no small amount of emotional upheaval for the seasoned detective.   Josie may not have been a fan of the victim when they were in high school, nonetheless she is determined to find out how she met such a terrible fate. Josie is very relatable and her recollections from years earlier provide insight into her character. The investigation takes off at a slow pace – with few immediate findings, however it builds in intensity as information is uncovered and events unfold, with unexpected discoveries keeping the detectives and the reader guessing at the truth.  An enjoyable read.

Denton, Pennsylvania is inundated with flood waters and Josie Quinn and her team of detectives are trying to keep the town’s residents safe. During a water rescue a body suddenly rises to the surface and Josie recognizes the high school jacket the young woman is wearing. It belonged to Josie’s deceased ex-husband and the body is that of a woman who was last seen sixteen years ago. As the case unfolds, Josie is forced to re-visit old memories of high school and her first love, as well as confront secrets that may have been hidden all these years.

Save Her Soul is the ninth book in the Detective Josie Quinn series and it hits the ground running. It is fast-paced, twisty, and action-packed, with a variety of interesting and well-developed characters. The author does a good job integrating information from past books, so even a reader new to this series will enjoy it. I know I did!

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a copy of this book for review.

Another awesome case for Detective Josie Quinn. In the midst of flooding, a house is swept away a body is turned loose from its grave. The story ties back to previous books which I loved.

I've really enjoyed this series and Save Her Soul doesn't disappoint...You can possibly jump in here if you haven't read the earlier ones. You'll lose a bit of connection with Josie but I think you'd be ok to enjoy the book.

There are a few twists that pop up, a lot of emotional baggage exposed and some resolved. It's a fairly fast=paced story that will keep you turning the pages.

I have read all of the books in this series, bar the first one, and I think the series just continues to go from strength to strength.

Josie Quinn is back, and in the middle of the worst flooding her town has ever seen. In between rescuing people caught up in said floods, she needs to figure out the mystery of the disappearance of a mother and daughter - a daughter who was her bully at high school. Then she needs to know how some of the fine upstanding citizens of Denton are involved with these two and she has to deal with a bombshell in her personal life as well. All of this takes its toll on her mental health and she finds herself struggling. I like the part when Gretchen says something like: "you can't keep on pushing down the memories of trauma, they come out later, whether you like it or not". So true.

Anyway, this is a fantastic book and I am already looking forward to reading the next one!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture.

Save Her Soul is book number 9 in Lisa Regan's Detective Josie Quinn series. The town of Denton is underwater due to severe floods and a house washes away to reveal a body buried in its foundations. The victim is a teen that Josie clashed with repeatedly at school. At the autopsy, Josie realises the body is wearing her late husband's jacket: could he have been involved in the murder of her teenage enemy?
This is quite an emotional case for Josie and some of the plot is delivered via flashbacks to Josie's teenage years. Lots of emotions about her late husband Ray are stirred up by his involvement in the case. Things are made more complicated when Josie locks horns with the mayor again as she also shared a shady past with the victim's mother.
There is plenty of drama and danger for Josie and her colleagues as they fight the floods as well as investigate the murder. Josie risks injury and even death several times over the course of the book, thanks in part to her tenacity and sense of duty. Her superiors see her as reckless but we see her as brave and determined.
There are plenty of twists and turns in the plot as witnesses and suspects protect themselves and hinder the case. Josie also faces more heartache about her unhappy childhood and her current family which adds to the pressure she faces over the course of the book.
Save Her Soul is an enjoyable thriller with a healthy dash of emotion to make Josie a character we are rooting for from start to finish. There are some references to other cases but the parts of the past shown in flashback are new for all readers and I think this would work as a stand alone novel.

Denton is under water due to havy flooding, The police are helping the emergency services and during the rescue of an older woman whose house is breaking down Josie also finds a dead body wrapped in a tarp. When the body is unwrapped Jopsie gets a shock as the young girl is wrapped in her ex husbands high school baseball jacket. Beverly had been in school with them but didn't return for her senior year and everyone believed she had moved away with her mother. What happened her and where is her mother? Josie has to delve into her history and many memories come back. And who is the woman who keeps ringing and asking to meet her and then doesn't turn up?
Yet again Lisa Regan tells us a great story. We learn a lot more about Josie and her past. She digs into the history of Denton and the floods add to the tension. I am already looking forward to the next instalment

Oh my!! What a book. Author Lisa Regan put me and the main character, Josie Quinn, through a wringer of a story. Not only did murders pepper the book, there was torrential rain and floods along with memories of the past that Josie had to battle through. And boy, was she a survivor. So damn proud of this girl.

In the flooded river, on a rescue, Josie found a house giving way and something floating. A dead body wrapped in tarp and wearing her dead ex-husband’s jacket.

A shock reverberated through her as memories raced in her mind. With the only witness dying in her arms, all she was left with was a scrutiny into her past life.

I started this series late, but no matter. Lisa’s writing was so friendly and comfortable that I could settle right in. This book too could be read as a standalone except for a couple of lines.

The story tore at Josie’s insides, and I was right beside her. I literally just finished the book as I savored every word written by the author. Fast paced, the pages turned quickly; the twists kept me going right until the last page of the book.

Like all police procedural, this too had painstaking work done by the cops. This book had Jose’s friendship with colleague Gretchen highlighted. I loved how the two supported each other. And the number of times they jumped into the water left me wondering if there was any part of the river water they had not swallowed.

This book gave me an insight on the teen Josie in high school and showed me what a tough gal she was. Forged in fire, brave yet oh so vulnerable. A solid police procedural that I had loads of fun reading.

Save Her Soul by Lisa Regan is the ninth in the Detective Josie Quinn series.

First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Bookouture, and of course the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Series Background: (Warning – May contain spoilers from previous books)
Once Acting Chief of Police, Josie Quinn is now doing what she is best suited for. She’s back to being a detective and happy. Her team consists of Detective Noah Fraley (who she is dating), Detective Gretchen Palmer, and Detective Finn Mettner. Their boss is Chief Bob Chitwood. She is learning to love her new-found family (including news reporter Trinity Payne), but it is keeping her busy.

My Synopsis: (No major reveals, but if concerned, skip to My Opinions)
Josie's emotions have been running rampant since the kidnapping of her sister. Although Trinity was not harmed, Josie is in turmoil. The whole thing brought back memories of her childhood, the lies, and the years spent not realizing her real family even existed. She is alternately crying and snapping at people.

When a flood takes over the town, Josie puts her life and those around her in jeopardy while she insists on grabbing a tarp that is floating by. She knows there is a body inside that tarp, and she is right, but what is really concerning is that the body is wearing her ex-husband's high school letter jacket. There is also the fact that the girl had been murdered, and was pregnant at the time of her death. This case is going to stir up more memories.

My Opinions:
This book is really about family and friendships. It is also about secrets and deceit

The author continues to add new characters to the cast, so I expect we will see more of Sawyer Hayes. With each book, the author adds more depth to each member. I really like how close Gretchen and Josie have become.

As always, there was a lot of action, and the pace was fast. There were a number of surprises.

Although I sometimes think that these books can be read as stand-alone since the author usually repeats relevant background, I still recommend they be read in order of publication.

The book was very well - written and really engaged myself, the reader, to connect with the characters. I feel like there was something missing from my experience, but I attribute that to this novel being book 9 in a series and I haven’t read any of the previous books. I have recently purchased book 2 in order to start going back and reading the series. I will continue reading this series to keep up with the journey of Detective Quinn and her team. Thank you for allowing me to read it!
