Memories of Wild Rose Bay was a fabulous quick and lighthearted read. I was able to get through it in just two days (maybe even in one day but life gets in the way sometimes). It is the fifth book in the Sandy Cove series by Susanne O’Leary but can read as a standalone. The story takes place in the rolling green hills and beaches of Sandy Cove in Ireland. I can already hear the lilting lovely Irish accents the characters speak.
Kate O’Rourke was a great character who was strong enough to bend the old-fashioned town into accepting a it’s first female doctor; although begrudgingly. She provided a refreshing take as an easy-going character despite the challenges she faced with a community who were half open-minded and half set in their traditional ways.
Her budding relationship with the mysterious healer, Cormac was cute, but I wish there was a little more development with their relationship. However, the mystery behind the healing powers of the land by the O’Rourke castle added a bit of intrigue, which made the story more interesting.
Although the outcome was predictable, I enjoyed reading this story and found it was a nice book to take along on a weekend trip away since it was such a quick, yet delightful read.
Memories Of Wild Rose Bay by Suzanne O'Leary is a book you won't want to put down.Kate arrives in Sandy Cove to take up her new job as a doctor. She has come to Sandy Cove to try to feel closer to her dad, who'se passing has left her lost. Her dad came from here and she feels it may help her to be here.Kate immediately feels at home in the surgery and the village, feeling that this is where she should be. Kate hears about the local healer Cormac O'Shea and finds she really wants to know the man everyone says is a charmer. She finally meets him and finds they are totally opposite in their ways of thinking how patients need treating, Kate is well organised in her ways and calm whereas Connor, is totally wild and passionate about his ancestors using the old Irish healing. We see the sparks fly between Kate and Connor but where will this end?
An absolutely exquisite book, my first Suzanne O'Leary story and I am so happy to say I can look forward to more of Sandy Cove. Suzanne skilfully weaves her story telling together into a book that can make you laugh and cry. A brilliant feel good story that I really needed. A story that grabs you and you can't put it down. Kate is a character I just loved getting to know, her sadness about her dad and the need to be at Sandy Cove made me feel like giving her a big hug. I plan to read the other books in the series, I enjoyed it that much. Thanks to net galley and Bookouture for the ARC of this book
A lovely slow-burn romance story. I liked how this story went and feel like it was an enjoyable read but the end could have better. I like what happened in the end but felt like the story could have gone further. I would have loved to know what happens next for Kate and Tara.
I really enjoyed “Memories of Wild Rose Bay”. A sweet romantic story about moving forward and believing in yourself. The characters were well developed and relatable. I got so wrapped up in the lives of the characters that I was disappointed when I got to the end of the story. .
This series gets better with every new book. A great feel good book set in a great location.
I am looking forward to reading more.
Dr. Kate O’Rourke leaves her position in a hectic Dublin hospital to train in the old surgery of the quaint countryside of Wild Rose Bay.
Overwhelmed, not sure she’s cut out for the city hospital, and still not over the loss of her father, Kate takes an opportunity to rebalance by taking over the aging Dr. Pat’s practice, in the place where her father came from.
Immediately charmed by the breathtaking beauty and views of the Irish coast, Kate feels a sense of tranquility settle into her heart. Faced with the challenge of the villagers’ hesitation to accept a female physician, Kate also finds herself competing for the care of her patients, with Cormac, the trusted local healer.
Kate is an academic—her medically trained mind doubts the legendary healing customs and concoctions that Cormac uses to heal, and the two of them clash over their beliefs and methods.
While they may not agree on their medicinal practices, neither of them can deny their mutual magnetism. Kate and Cormac will have to move past their differences if they want to work it out.
I’ve visited Wild Rose Bay so often in Susanne’s books that I feel like I’d recognize the trails and breathtaking views. I think there should be a Blog Tour arranged for this enchanting town!
A feel-good story of taking chances, learning acceptance, and finding where your heart belongs.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the read of Susanne O’Leary’s, Memories of Wild Rose Bay (Sandy Cove Book 5).
Opinions expressed in my reviews are my own.
This book is about Kate and her leaving the busy life of the city hospital emergency room. She heads to the country to work more as a GP. There she meets a cast of interesting characters and a new love interest.
It was a quick book which I really enjoyed.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the early copy
Memories of Wild Rose Bay is a love story between Dr Kate and the village healer, Cormac. It was a sweet romance set in a small Irish village, where Kate decided she wanted to get back to her roots and practice medicine.
I loved the story of Kate. The decision she made to come to Wild Rose Bay seemed the kind of place that she would want to learn and help people. She is a person who wants to learn about the healers of Ireland . The relationship she is sharing with Cormac , well what can I say it is different. The is a GOOD READ. This whole series so far is good. Just when I think there won't be another one turns up.
We are back in Sandy Cove, Kerry. I was lucky enough to be a guest there 4 times before and it's great to be welcomed back for the 5th time and hopefully many times more.
In this book the people we have got to know in the previous stories are not in the foreground but they have given up their spot to some new faces.
Can healers really heal with their potions and lotions or should we put our trust solely in the hands of 'normal' doctors? Can both see eye to eye and join forces or are they too stuck in their own points of view?
They say love can conquer all, but can it work for Kate and Cormac?
This is a great story about how your life can change direction and about being accepted in the heart of a small village.
Once again the author describes the beautiful views and I hope one day I will be able to see them with my own eyes. 5 stars.
Thank you, Susanne O'Leary and Bookouture
A doctor and a healer try to find common ground in a small Irish town.
Memories of Wild Rose Bay is book #5 in the Sandy Cove series but can be read as a standalone.
Kate was a doctor that was unhappy with the stressful and detached environment of the large Dublin hospital she worked for. She decided to apply for a job in the countryside, the place where her father's ancestors came from.
At the village, she met Dr. Pat, the old doctor, a sweet fatherly figure that helped Kate to find her real vocation and connect to the community.
Kate is a little too cerebral for my taste, but it works within the story. She has to face her insecurities, change people's preconceptions about a young female doctor, and, at the same time, figure out her feelings for Cormac, the local healer.
Cormac is a great character, full of mystery and mysticism. As the seventh son of a seventh son, it was believed that he had special healing powers.
I loved that Cormac and Kate had to deal with their differences, and how they both grew from the experience.
The side characters are lovely, especially Bridget, the nurse, and do-it-all.
The story takes place in beautiful Ireland with its magical beaches and magnificent scenery.
An engaging and light read.

****Memories of Wild Rose Bay by Irish author Susanne O’Leary is Book 5 in her Sandy Cove series. This book introduces Doctor Kate O’Roarke who has come to the small village to train with and assist the current doctor. She meets Cormac, the seventh son of a seventh son who legend says has healing hands. Cormac does dispense teas and creams that seem to help in certain situations, but Kate, steeped in her scientific studies, is skeptical of Cormac’s brews and fearful that he might actually be harming his clients. Cormac is equally standoffish but the pull between them is intense. The author has created characters that tease and beg for more layers to be revealed. This story doesn’t end with a cliffhanger exactly, but with the promise that there’s still a lot to uncover. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley.
