This is a lovely contemporary romance, a story about daring to change your life and take a chance - whilst still being careful!

The sudden death of her father leads Anna to clearing out his home with her sister. Whilst doing so she discovers some postcards showing his youthful adventure exploring Greece and maps showing he'd planned to return there. She's had the option to take redundancy and Anna decides to do just that - and to follow her father's planned route, driving her father's old camper van. She invites her father's contemporary and neighbour, Demi, to join her on this adventure. Demi is Greek but has lived in England for many decades, never returning to her home because she doesn't want to fly. This is a way to get there without flying, but there will be some great encounters on route, secrets from the past revealed, family reconnected and even an unforeseen romance!

It is a story packed with love, great characters, tasty food, beautiful scenery and a heartwarming reunion. I thoroughly enjoyed joining Anna and Demi on this camper van adventure. I'd actually been somewhat reticent about reading it as it involves the death of Anna's Dad and I'm still missing mine following his death in January but I need not have worried, this really is an uplifting story, one to put a huge smile on your face and having you laughing out loud at some of their interactions. Without giving a major spoiler away, one of my favourite encounters involved Demi and a cocky teen thief who got much more than he bargained for - just got to love Demi!

I have absolutely no hesitation in highly recommending this adventurous read to anyone looking for a well crafted romance to take you on a journey revisiting the past and moving on to the future with some beautiful countryside and very special characters.

I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest review after choosing to read it and thoroughly enjoying doing so.

I love a Sue Roberts book, absolutely delightful to read, there will be emotion, but I always know I’ll be leaving happier and feeling better than I went in. Anna is a lovely relatable character and it was a joy to go on her journey with her, when most of us are stuck at home this year. Fantasy story, warm characters and perfect escapism, what more could you want this summer

This book was alot of fun to read! I haven't traveled but I want to. So I really enjoyed the descriptive writing style of this book. I felt like I was in Greece and France and everywhere Anna and Demi traveled. There was a bit of romance for Anna.. which I loved. Anna was such a lovable character and she deserved some happiness! Demi was also a very sweet character and I loved her story as well!

I loved traveling with these characters. This book was just an all around happy book. I felt happy while reading and I absolutely felt happy with the ending!

Every once in awhile, amid the psych thrillers and historical fiction, you just need a book vacation. I have the perfect recommendation for you. Reading this was like taking a sunny vacation to Greece.

Anna has had a rough few months. After finding some documents that are memoirs from her dad’s time in Greece, she decides to follow in his footsteps, grabs her Dad’s neighbor Demi, and takes off on an adventure. How fortunate for us that we get to go along with her.

This book was pure escapism. There are no great lessons to learn or issues to overcome. Sure Anna has to make some tough decisions by the end, but isn’t that the way with any good vacation? Anybody who has had a lovely time somewhere feels that tug between wanting to stay and feeling the need to get back to real life.
Which one does Anna choose?

Like I’m going to tell you!! Read the book!

I love this author’s writing style. It flows along, allowing the reader to be drawn into the story. Her descriptions of Italy and Greece were especially resonant because those are two of my favorite places in the world. The author captures them perfectly.

As I mentioned, there are no great mysteries here…just a very pleasant read with fun characters and beautiful scenery.

Sometimes that’s all a book needs to be a winner.

This is the first book I've read by Sue Roberts and it was such a treat to discover a new author.

The storyline in Some Like It Greek resonated with me on so many levels and although I too within the last year have experienced redundancy and sadly lost my father I didn't find this story depressing, in fact it radiated nostalgia, warmth and hopefulness.

Anna has just recently lost her father, whilst sorting through his belongings she finds a map and postcards from the time he spent in Greece during his twenties.  The map details a route through France, Switzerland, Italy then on the ferry to Greece.  Anna also finds the keys to her fathers old camper van, a van that has witnessed many adventures.  Are there anymore adventures left in this van?  Anna's career at the bank is at risk so she takes this as a sign to take herself on a journey following the footsteps of her late father.

The journey to Greece is filled with many surprises; some good, some wonderful, some very funny and some that were not great.  With her intrepid travelling partner the ladies go on a nostalgic journey of the past, present and the future.

This was a fun, nostalgic, heart-warming and very poignant read.

Some Like It Greek is just the vacation I needed. Never has a book made me want to get up and travel far away on a trip I did not know I needed to make. After her father's death, an argument with her sister, breaking up with her cheating boyfriend and losing her job Anna is ready to go on an adventure. She decides to take a trip to Greece her father had planned on taking before his death and gets family friend Demi to agree to go with her. Demi has not been back to Greece in decades and as she is afraid to fly, taking Anna's father's old fish van is the perfect solution.

Anna and Demi pack up the van and drive through France and Italy before taking a ferry to Greece. While in Italy Anna meets Dara, a handsome Irishman who is an adventure in himself. Demi encourages Anna to be young and enjoy her youth while she can and that includes enjoying Dara. The trip to Greece has surprises in store for Anna and Demi that will change both of their lives.

I loved this book and cannot wait to read more of Sue Roberts's books. Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Sue Roberts for allowing me to read an ARC of this book.

I am unable to go on holiday this year, so I am very much an armchair traveller. Books are my escapism and this book fits this description perfectly.
This book takes us through several European countries as Anna and her neighbour Demi take a road trip to Greece in a campervan. It's definitely a more unusual plot than the common theme of visiting one location, and a lot more interesting.
This is a good, fun and enjoyable read. This is not the first Sue Roberts book that I have read, and it won't be the last. I am looking forward to reading her next book.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for my ARC.

Sun, sand, and a camper van. Sue Roberts descriptive storytelling always whisks me away to exotic locations. I could feel the wind in my hair, the sand in my toes, the sun on my skin. I could smell the salt from the sea, the spices of the food, and the gas from the camper van. Anna is at a crossroads, her beloved father has just passed away and she has accepted an offer of voluntary redundancy from her job. When she is cleaning out her fathers house she runs across a postcard of a gorgeous beach in Greece as well as a map of the trip her father took many years ago. Thinking there is no time like the present, Anna invites her elderly neighbor Demi who is from Greece to take on this adventure with her. So the two load up the camper van and the journey begins. France, Switzerland, Greece, or Bust.

This book was so fun! Loved traveling all these places through the pages of this book. Anna and Demi were such great characters. Anna had such a free spirit and Demi was so spirited. Loved how these women were over three decades apart yet so similar. They both had great emotional stories and loads of growth throughout the book. Demi confronts her past and Anna re-invents her future. There was also a splash of romance in the story that warmed my heart.

Today marks day 155 of quarantine and I am DYING for a vacation. Enter Some Like it Greek. A perfect summer read following Anna as she works to heal through grief, losing her job and losing her spark. An impromptu trip to Greece with her best friend, Demi, in her dad’s old van is exactly what she needs. Readers are taken on an adventure as they make stops at The Swiss Alps and Italy on their way to the Islands of Greece.
If you’re in the mood for a light and quick summer read with a perfect HAE, this one's for you!

For those of us who can't travel this summer Some Like It Greek is the perfect summer escape via a book! The story centers on Anna who recently lost her father and also lost her job. She has a rocky relationship with her sister and while cleaning out her father's home realizes he has some connection to Greece. Since she has nothing holding her back she decides to go on a road trip with her friend Demi. As with most stories that surround loss the person that gets left behind also find themselves while exploring their family's history. I thought this was such a cute story and would definitely read more by Sue Roberts. Many thanks to Netgalley, Bookouture, and Sue Roberts for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

A delightful feel-good summer (or you wish it was summer) read! This book is comedic, heart warming, empowering, and adventurous; I'm a big fan. After losing her father and her job, Anna and her almost seventy year old neighbour go on a road trip of a lifetime to Greece following a map that Anna finds in her father's belongings. Filled with adventure, mishaps, personality, and freedom, it made me want to go travel, but as there is a pandemic going on, this is the next best thing. Anna is so down to earth and relatable that you can't wait to go on this journey with her, and Demi, well she is now who I will strive to be like. I was immediately drawn into the story, and it was like a breath of fresh air to be in Anna's world for a few hours.

While there is definitely some romance, this book is also filled with friendship, self-discovery, and simply about living life! I would definitely recommend!

I enjoyed this book. From beginning to end I really liked following Anna's story and especially felt connected to her sister Liz, who I wish we had more of. I also appreciated that while we had a love interest this story was focused on Demi and Anna's journey rather than focusing on the romance side of things. Their stories were more important.

Sparkling Summer Road Trip.....
A sparkling, Summer road trip to Greece, along the Mediterranean coastline, ending in the Greek island of Kefalonia. An interesting storyline, well drawn characters and delicious descriptions of places, people, food, fare and stunning backdrops. A Summer read from Sue Roberts, always welcome escapism.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publishing house and the author for the opportunity to read complimentary advance reader copy of this book in return for review based upon my honest opinion.

What a lovely summer beach read. This book was fun and full of love and laughter, it made me want to go on a road trip myself. For Anna, cleaning out her father’s house after his death and seeing his mementos from a road trip he took when he was younger makes her realize that life is short and she wants to have her own stories to tell, she doesn’t want to take the journey alone but she wants to follow in his footsteps and asks her neighbour and one of her parents best friends, Demi, who is also Greek to go with her on a road trip from their hometown to the Greek island of Kefalonia. Anna and Demi‘s journey was very enjoyable to read about, I love the details about the towns they stopped in and the sights they saw along the way. The story of Demi’s history is told to us during their travels, and it was a lovely story to read about. Anna’s journey is one of self discovery. It was a quick read but very enjoyable read. If you’re looking for a great book to take to the beach and enjoy the afternoon reading, this is it.

A perfect getaway take your troubles and set them to the side read. Anna has been at the same job since leaving school, and with her relationship of five years falling apart, the death of her father, and having some harsh words with her sister Liz, she’s ready for something new. Voluntary redundancy at the bank offers her a choice, one that she was thinking about until she found photos and maps that her father was working on. He’d travelled before he married, and always shared stories with his daughters about his ‘European Tour’ - and had remodeled his old fishmonger’s van into a camper van. Anna is thinking she could just take redundancy money and travel – no children, no boyfriend and no job means that she has the opportunity. And with her father’s next-door neighbor Demi talking to her about her father’s adventures and her own loneliness since her husband passed, the two decide to drive to Kefalonia where Demi can see her family and Anna can travel in her father’s footsteps.

One of the reasons I adore Roberts’ books is her getaway to think and rediscover your joy plotlines, with characters that you want to know. Demi is almost seventy Greek lady who never forgets her home, but has brought life, acceptance and joy to the lives of others. At thirty, Anna has hit a crossroad in her life, after taking the ‘safe’ route all the time, this is her first chance since taking a month after leaving school where she and friends camped in France to really travel and see some of the world. Driving the camper van is a logical (and mostly cost-effective) way to get to Greece, stopping along the way in France and Italy to just enjoy the trip – and bonus, she and Demi have time to talk, discover one another, and Anna has the opportunity to learn more about her father’s early years, and get some advice from someone who grabs life by the horns.

When you add in subplots of Dara – an Irishman travelling to avoid/ heal his own grief and a secret that is the reason Demi moved from Greece, added to the descriptions of food, places and simple joys, the book is a ‘go here –find that’ travel guide for your own trip to Greece. Added bonus is the happy endings with new outlooks for all the characters, and a wonderful escape for the reader!

This is charming story about adventure and finding oneself.

There are the usual elements of heartbreak and then new romance which can be expected from stories like this; but this book is different. It teaches us that you only live once, and that one life should be lived to the fullest.

The characters were likeable and the story was an easy read. It also had me yearning for a life of travel and seeing the world, and in a camper van, no less!

I enjoyed this book, and would definitely read more by Sue Roberts.

Just finished this lovely book on a rainy afternoon on holiday in Wales! How I wish I was in Greece instead!

Anna decides to stop playing it safe and live life to the full. We get to share some of the adventures with her.

Love the descriptions of Greece and particularly of the food. I'm desperate to cook some now!

Road trip! I have to admit I have mixed feelings about this- I loved the travel and yet I was also so darn jealous of Anna and Demi! Not of what sent Anna off to Kefalonia- the death of her dad, the discovery that her guy is a rat, and so o= but of the fact that they can travel through Europe and on to Greece, This has lovely descriptions of the journey, the food, and the people they meet. The plot felt a bit familiar but I didn't care because it's a Sue Roberts, and as her readers know, she's got a great storytelling style. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A fun read.
