I received the book as an ARC. I am freely giving my review. I have read many of Debbie Macomber books. I have enjoyed every one. This one is not to be missed. I loved Evelyn/Daisy, and Asher. They took a hard time and made it an adventure. I recommend this to anyone. You will not be disappointed
This was a very short read, perhaps too short. The romance was almost as perfunctory as the tacked-on reference to Christmas; it could have taken place any time of the year, as the overworked heroine, Everly, is maliciously booked onto a two-week Amazon River cruise instead of a luxury liner, with no internet or phone access.
She is taken care of by Asher, the ship naturalist, and we are told by the narrative voice that they fell in love at the appropriate beats in the plot. Asher did not endear himself to me by insisting on calling Everly Daisy after she twice made it clear that she renamed herself (and the narrative voice called her Everly all through the book), a piece of obnoxiousness that to me didn't bode well for their future.
He dumps her at the end of the cruise after her confession of love (which she managed to fall into though sick for half the cruise, and traumatized during the second half), but then he changed his mind, flies to her family farm to meet her, and we are told that there would be a happily ever after. I couldn't believe in it, even with the epilogue set some time later.
What rescued the book somewhat were the vivid descriptions of the Amazon River and some of its more dramatic flora and fauna. Once Everly left the ship, the story really felt like it was pretty much over; the rest of the characters were too briefly on stage, mostly described by the narrator, without much time to step forward and gain some dimension.
I think the whole might have worked better if it had been longer, and not compressed into summary at crucial romance plot points.
Because of the title, I thought "Jingle All the Way" would be a Christmas bonanza, but the biggest chunk of the story took place in the Amazon. There were some Christmas preparations, but not the actual festivity. Although I liked the characters, I had a hard time believing they fell for each other so fast and made such life altering choices in a very short period of time, but it is a quick read. I think the characters, including Jack in the background bungling things all the time, could have used a little more fleshing out.
Fast, no surprising plot twists, a book made to pass time.
I received an advanced readers copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley in return for a fair review.
A cute heartwarming story about a workaholic whose vacation is nothing she had hoped for and turns out to be so much more. I love the ending and how the main characters realize what they want after thinking it would never work! Compromise is what relationships are about! And this story depicts compromise well! A quick lighthearted read!
Wow! This was completely different than what I expected from Debbie Macomber! What a great read! Such fun! I did not plan on a trip down the Amazon! This was great! Thanks for a great read!
Everly is really really unhappy about taking a vacation and really really unhappy when it turns out she's on an Amazon expedition rather than a cruise ship with a spa. Asher Adams, however, isn't unhappy at all; he's a naturalist who loves nothing more than making people like Everly love the unusual flora and fauna of the region. Macomber readers know these two are going to fall for one another in a sweet way (no steam here) and that there will be some conflict. In this case, it's whether Everly and Asher can meet in the middle of their very different lives. You will root for them. This has humor as well as a big heart. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. This makes for a good cheery weekend read,
Thank you NetGalley fo providing me with this ARC. Debbis Macomber has written another Christmas book. It’s not all that a Christmas-y, but it does take place in December. Hard working co-owner of an online realty company, Everly is forced to take December off. Her incompetent assistant makes an Amazon adventure reservation out of spite, instead of booking Everly a relaxing cruise. She does meet someone - a handsome young naturalist. This is due to be published October 13, 2020, it’s an easy reading a Christmas romance.
An another great book by Debbie Macomber!
Everly Lancaster is a rising star in her profession. Stressed out her boss insists she take off the month of December and her assistant books her a cruise. Everly thinks she is going a luxury cruise, however; her assistant bent on revenge booked her a guided Amazon cruise. No cell phone service, no internet, no contact, will Everly survive?
Asher Adams is a naturalist, loves the Amazon and wants to convince Everly this cruise will be one she remembers for a long.
I love and enjoy books by Debbie Macomber. Her characters are real, the setting is on my bucket list and Christmas is my favorite time of the year.
Every had devoted her whole life to her real estate company. One day her partner and her secretary planned a month long vacation with a cruise at the beginning. Her cruise to the Amazon River is doomed from the start. The onboard biologist,Asher, is very taken with her.
As the cruise goes on Everly is reminded of all the things she has missed with her large family. When the time comes to go back to work she is not sure what she wants to do.
Debbie MaComber has not disappointed and has given us a fun new holiday read.
A very different Christmas story.
A cruise on the Amazon, an assortment of mishaps and a boy meets girl. Doesn’t sound like Christmas does it? Well finally Christmas is introduced! It is a nice fluffy story but it does end
abruptly.
It’s a Debbie Macomber Christmas book. Throw in a dog or two and it’s basically the Mellie Claus Trifecta. Also, the MC share my oldest daughter’s name, so it has to be good, right?
The MC is Everly, but her legal name is Daisy. During the book, we get both names being used. This wasn’t difficult to keep up with, but just kind of annoying. I guess it’s like she was a different person in the Amazon (Daisy), but everyone would call her Daisy, but the author still called her Everly. I wish they would have just stuck with Daisy instead of Daisy/Everly.
The best part about this was that Asher knew his Amazonian stuff y’all. I had misconceptions (ex. piranhas) and after reading, I would burn the keyboard to google, and it was nice to see the effort of research that was taken.
This is another “oh, so we’re falling in love now.. now?” books. One minute they’re on the boat, then some drastic changes happen. I am 100% sure I said out loud, “well THAT escalated quickly” It wasn’t an organic or believable love. It may because the book is so short that it had to be crammed in such little time.
This was a very quick and quirky read. This reminded me of Christmas Vacation + Home Alone, with a hint of, dare I say, Frozen? I do. I do dare. Thank you Ballantine & NetGalley for the gifted copy. This is out Oct. 13.
Daisy has been encouraged by her partner in an on-line realty company, to take a month off. Her assistant has booked her on an Amazon river cruise. It gets off to a bad start when she discovers it is not the luxury cruise she expected. However, the naturalist, Asher, who guides the tours, helps Daisy when she reacts negatively to a mosquito bite and nurses her back to health. Their friendship grows into something more than casual friendship but their current lives are not compatible for the relationship to go any further. Is there a solution?
The description of the Amazon environment is vivid. The characters come alive and are so likeable. A wonderful holiday story. Debbie Macomber has given us a delightful story.
Jingle All The Way will put you into the Christmas spirit as a workaholic is forced to take a vacation. It's not what she was lead to believe it to be but found after awhile she was enjoying herself. Falling in love helped.. You'll have to read it to see how this rocky romance ends.
A sweet holiday story. Daisy was a workaholic before she went on an unwanted cruise. Asher is the tour director for the cruise. These two spend plenty of time getting to know each other and falling in love. Family and faith are important to both of them and is what helps them to come terms with how they want to continue on with their lives in the future.
Jingle All The Way by Debbie Macomber is a delightful read. Everly (real name Daisy) and her business partner Jack had started an on line real estate company and Everly was a workaholic. She had already lost a relationship because of the hours she kept. Everly did the majority of the work why Jack was pretty laid back. Annette was her personal assistant but also Jack’s niece and she was horrible at her job. Everly was ready to get rid of her but Jack was against it. So Jack convinced Everly she needed to take a month off to relax and he had Annette book it. Annette had book a cruise so Everly was getting packed rather quickly and thinking of the men she might meet on this luxury cruise. No way Annette had booked her on an Amazon cruise! Everly meets Asher the cruise naturalist and quite handsome. Then the fun begins with poor Everly’s klutziness.
When the cruise is over Everly heads to her family home in Indiana for Christmas and of course Asher tells her the relationship can’t work because he doesn’t like the big city of Chicago and she is a business woman with her own company. I love how Everly starts building a better bond with her two older sisters and her younger twin brothers. I am not going to give anymore tidbits away about this book except you need to grab it to see what her siblings do to Asher! Debbie Macomber books are so enjoyable and especially love the Christmas ones.
I did receive this as an ARC for an honest review.
3.5 stars
I have long been a fan of Debbie Macomber, like since I was a kid and used to steal my grandmother's copies of her books. So I knew kind of what to expect going into this book. I found that the characters were a little flat for me as opposed to normal. and I feel like their romance wasn't really believable until the end. I find that the conflict in this one was kind of unnecessary. Overall this probably wasn't my favorite book by her. However, If you are looking for a quick, sweet, well-written read then this might be a great choice for you. I just felt it was a little lack-luster for my tastes. But I will for sure read more of her works because I enjoy her writing.
Thank you Netgalley and Ballantine Books for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Jingle All the Way by Debbie Macomber delivered everything I expected! Debbie Macomber is an expert romance writer that brings the love and feels to every book she writes.
Everly is a woman who is running a successful internet real estate company with a partner who does very little. To make things worse her incompetent assistant is her partner's niece. After a confrontation between the assistant and Everly, her business partner asks her to take a month long vacation from the business so that she can relax and not be so stressed out. Everly is pushed into taking a luxury cruise booked by her assistant. Except the assistant takes revenge booking her a ticket on the Amazon Explorer, a cruise to explore the rainforest in Brazil.
Macomber sets up the perfect meeting of Everly and Asher on this cruise and their friendship unfolds with humor, embarrassing situations and sweet romantic moments. This book is everything I wanted and needed with the Christmas holiday as part of the setting and a whirlwind romance along with it! I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a light, feel good read that will put you in the holiday mood.
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
If you want a great holiday read look no further than Jingle All the Way! What starts out as a book about a workaholic who is forced to take the entire month of December off and get away from the big city turns into a book about finding oneself and figuring out what’s important in life. All during Christmas of course. I love that this book made me believe in second chances again and gave me hope for the future and what’s to come!
A Christmas story with a twist—most of the book is set in the Amazon Rainforest! Although this book contains a heartfelt romance, it is also about finding out what’s most important, prioritizing what truly makes someone happy! With its exotic setting and endearing characters, this is a great book to read at Christmas or any time of year!
Another lovely Christmas story by Debbie Macomber. A stressed out Everly aka Daisy is sent on a “cruise” to decompose for the month of December. She meets Adler and he proves to be a kind, generous person and the story goes on from there. At times it didn’t even seem to be a Christmas story, so pick up thIs one anytime. It will make you feel warm and cozy.
