Thanks for the review edition!
I have gotten more into Enneagrams lately and found this book to be a really interesting first book to read in this space. It helped explain everything clearly and interestingly.
When I initially requested this book 4 years ago, I was very curious about the enneagram concept. Since then, I no longer think there's much merit to the idea after reading into it a bit more. I think it was just another trendy personality type system for people to buy into.
I was bored with this audio book and I did not want to finish. So I didn’t finish it.
I started this one a few times and I was just not interested in finishing it. Just not the right book for me at the time I tried to read it.
This book was so informative! It helped me understand my enneagram number on a much deeper level! It gave great information without being dry! I loved it!
An interesting self help book bogged down a bit by the narrator. This might be better read than listened to if you have the time.
I love a good Enneagram book! If you’re already an expert in the field then you may not benefit quite as much from this book but - if you’re like me and always interested in learning more - I’d highly recommend “The Honest Enneagram”. It’s easy to read and informative and a great place to start if you’re an Enneagram newbie!
Well written book explaining the concept of Enneagram. After learning about MBTI and finding it quite useful, I had been intrigued by other personality tests, especially the Enneagram. This book served as a perfect introduction.
While I don't think people can be strictly categorized into a type, I do find these tests very helpful. Using the Enneagram (or any such tests), serves as a spark for introspection and learning about oneself, finding ways to leverage strengths and manage weaknesses. It also helps putting yourself in another person's shoes and empathizing with others. So while I don't like to box people into a type, I do think this concept can make a person more open minded and adjusting of others.
Thanks to netgalley for providing a digital copy of the book in exchange of an honest review.
The Honest Enneagram by Sarajane Case is a comprehensive look at how to be your best self. Ever since taking the Enneagram personality test a few years ago, I’ve been obsessed with all things enneagram and this book tops my list of best informational guides into the world of the Enneagram.
I received a review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest review. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
There are lot of books about the enneagram. This is in the helpful category, (rather than just informational). 😁 I learned a lot that helps me in my approach to the world, as well as how I perceive myself.
The reader was great. Didn’t distract from the content. In fact, blended into the background—my preference. (It’s about the content, not the voice.)
The Honest Enneagram is a very informative and interesting book about the Enneagram. The Honest Enneagram discusses the benefits of each Enneagram type and also says how you can overcome the weaker aspects of your personality. I really enjoyed this book.
This is a compelling subject and one I want to read more about, so my review is not fully complete as it is a fascinating and enlightening work in progress.
I started with the book and am now listening to the audio version and plan to delve deeper into this subject after this.
After discovering my Myers Briggs type through a test required by my employer many years ago, I was absolutely floored by the results, which actually explained a lot to me at that time, about my whole personality and how I “fit in” in the world. I was also a little saddened that I had lived so long not understanding these things which made so much sense to me now.
I even tested it out since by repeating the test after several years and always get the same results which is both gratifying and satisfying.
So it is with that in mind that I feel drawn to this subject of Enneagrams and keenly open to read more, as I feel we really need to learn to understand one another better, and where we “fit” rather than lumping everyone into the same basket and expecting them to sink or swim.
So far I have found this particular book compelling enough to want to know more.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the Publishers for my copy to read and review.
I've been interested in Enneagram for a while. I first discovered Sarajane Case via Instagram. Her book is a great compliment to her other valuable resources about Enneagram. I listened to the audio version and recommend it as an easy format to digest the info!
I loved learning about all of the different personality types and how each can affect relationships, overcome 'weaknesses' in their personality, and tap into wings to improve self-care. Her advice felt pretty on the nose for my type/wings, so I appreciated her attention to detail and the depth of explanation. Sarajane's narration is so soothing and informative, I listened to more than just my own type just to hear her describe them. I'll be following on Instagram to keep learning from her!
Thank you Netgalley for the E-Arc.
I have always been intrigued by enneagrams but I just didn't want to spend the time looking into and figuring out what I am. This audiobook is great though. She goes into detail about the nine types. She goes over each types weaknesses, strengths and traits. It is a lot of information, especially if you are listening to it with a clean slate. I found that while I was really interested I was also a bit overwhelmed. I will be listening to this one again.
I love any book I can get on the enneagram. So many different perspectives to consider! Thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Audio for a copy of this book for an honest review.
"That's why it's important that you remember in this work that growth isn't a destination - it's a relationship. It's waking up every single day and choosing to interact with the world in a way that does less harm to yourself and others and adds more beauty to the world."
Ever since I first heard about the enneagram, I have followed @enneagramandcoffee on Instagram to learn more about my type (I'm a strong 4w5) and what motivates me as a human. When Sarajane launched her podcast, I immediately dug in, ready to learn more about the enneagram. I really enjoyed this book and how Sarajane broke down each of the enneagram types in a way that was very easy for me to comprehend. I haven't read a ton of enneagram literature, but I can imagine how difficult it is to understand what some of the texts say. I really appreciated how Sarajane broke down each of the enneagram types and explained various pieces for each number. I feel like I have a much better picture of how the enneagram works, what the different numbers mean, and I learned more about myself in the section on fours. I highly recommend this book for those of you wanting to know more about the enneagram and need a good place to start.

This is one of the best enneagram books that I have read this far, and I love learning about the enneagram. Sarajane covers a complex topic in a readily understandable way - and it's my new top recommendation. Many enneagram books are linked to religion, and Sarajane is one of the best books I've read that discusses and explains the enneagram in depth, without having an overt or deeply religious content.
This was so enlightening and helpful to read! I am so thankful for this opportunity to read and review it early!
This really helped me understand more about myself in the enneagram and others that are not the same as me.
Good reader, but not for those new to Enneagrams, it launches right in. To enjoy the most of this book and get the most out of it, you really need to have a base knowledge. Or the book could start with one.
The 'Honest Enneagram' by Sarajane Case is a thoughtful, interesting book on the enneagram. If you don’t the enneagram or are looking for a good overview of it, then this book is an ideal read. A good listen, this book is a great companion to Sarajane’s fantastic Instagram account ‘EnneagramAndCoffee’ and her printed book of the same title 'The Honest Enneagram'. If you’ve read other somewhat trudging or boring explanations of the enneagram, try listening to this book instead. It’s a fun and smart book! Sarajane Case has done an excellent job!
Thank you to NetGalley for the complimentary copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.
