The Prince's Bride
JJ McAvoy can write anything and everything. She made me the main character of this book because I can feel emotion. I also love to read her book. She put so many emotions into her story. You will forget your own life for a little time because you will be full of Odette thought. You will be intoxicated with the words from Galahad's mouth. They will never leave you alone. I am not overhyping this book. Seriously, let's forget how rich they are and just think about how JJ put two great characters. One is the second son and the second to the crown. He is always looking up to his big brother. The other is her mother only child everything is not as beautiful she wanted it to be.
You should put down cinderella and snow-white books, that one is better when a prince meets a truly independent and talented princess what could happen.
I adore every conversation between these two, how they organize their date. Gale will make you fall in love with him, then you will appreciate his kindness when he is not a little A*****e.
You could not put this book down; I am already counting, and I need book 2 asap.
It also kind of breaks my heart. I need some closer, please. There were too much happiness and love, so JJ stop us and just decide to make us cry. I stayed a lot of time telling myself, why are you always happy when there are still 4 pages everything could happen?
Thank you, JJ put us into a modern fairytale not so fairy, but a tale that I adore. We all need Gale.
I loved this story so much, Prince Gale and Odette's story was fantastic and refreshing, the world JJ McAvoy built for them was perfect, having the second son of the monarchy get into an arranged marriage in the 20th century to no other than a billionaire heiress from the US, was refreshing. They both have something to fight for on their own and having them entangled in a marriage of convenience makes their story full of sweet romance and humor. The story developed at a great pace, you get to meet a lot of characters that you will be wondering about their own stories. Gale and Odette's banter was so fun to read. I definitely need the second part of this story. If you love royal romance, arranged marriage, billionaires drama, banter, and a great ending that will leave you wanting more as soon as possible, then this story is for you. Brilliant 5-stars, must-read book.
First off, the cover. Isn't it PERFECT? I may have considered licking it.
To be able to collect her inheritance, Odette Wyntor needs to get married, and what a better choice than a Prince that requires the same thing. The difference? He needs it to save his family and the monarchy from royal bankruptcy. And even though none of them is thrilled with the plan—an arranged married is their only option.
Gale is sent to the States to spend some time with Odette, and although he resisted the idea of marriage, the moment he saw her, everything changed. But Odette is stubborn as hell, so convincing her won't be an easy task.
It was a delight to read about them getting to know each other and falling in love, so that's why it hurt too much when J.J. Mcavoy said fuck it, and broke my heart with that ending.
The Prince's Bride hits all the right notes with its charm, humor, romance, and slow-burn deliciousness. J.J. Mcavoy hit the sweet spot with Gale and Odette's story. I was glued to the pages from the very beginning and barely came up for air.
I'm in desperate need of the next book.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC, in exchange for my honest review.
What do you get when you cross a spoiled playboy prince and a privileged rich girl? A slow-burn modern day royal romance and entertaining read! First off, by slow burn I mean there’s no sex. But trust me, this story isn’t lacking in intimacy. Gale may be a spoiled prince, but he’s completely swoon-worthy, charming, and very romantic. Odette is strong, smart, and talented. She keeps Gale on his toes. The marriage is arranged, but Gale and Odette take the opportunity to get to know each other. They become friends first. There’s lots of talking and getting to know one another and many stolen kisses. I love the relationship Gale has with his siblings. It’s very wholesome and trustworthy with lots of witty banter. Odette and her stepsister get along great and are there for each other, despite they’re battling mothers. This story is so refreshing, romantic, and fun. And gah, the cliffhanger! I need the second book right now! J.J. McAvoy is an amazing writer. Her talent shines through in this novel. She writes her story in a way that allows the characters, and readers, to truly know each character. Which makes the slow-burn that much better and the cliffhanger that much more epic!
“You are forever. That is the difference.”
4 swoon worthy stars!

This modern day royal romance is amazing!
Following the author that created Ruthless People, I was excited for this. It has all the wonderful tropes. Arranged marriage, marriage out of convenience, and slow burn.
Gale is being forced by his royal family to marry a rich heiress to save his family from financial disgrace. Odette is being forced by her mother to get married so that she can get her inheritance that in under dispute so logically their families make sense to arrange their marriage. They aren't excited about the idea but know its their only option. The Prince’s Bride is a slow burn romance. Since Odette is not all in on their arrangement, the majority of the story is spent with these two getting to know each other and in turn fall in deep like with each other which makes you really root for this couple. I can’t wait for the second book!
I really love this author and jumped to get this ARC, but I just could not get into it. I really didn’t like either of the characters. They both were immature and wanted everything their way. They didn’t see the big picture. They were also selfish. I just couldn’t get attached to either one or even care about their situations.
I wanted to love it, but I just couldn’t.
I received an ARC from the publisher for an honest review.
I'm a huge fan of the J.J. McAvoy "ruthless people" series so I was excited about this duet, but sadly it didn't do it for me.
I liked the blurb and the idea of royalty meets famous American, but early in the book the story began to feel dragged. I liked the characters and their banter, and knew beforehand that this was a slowburn, but still there wasn't much going on so some moments felt pointless. Anyway I recommend it only if you have a lot of patience.
Just like every other McAvoy book she hits me right in the "feels". This is an emotional roller coaster. I loved Gale and Odette and can't wait to see what happens in the conclusion. I have my suspicions as to how it will all play out but have to wait!
When my eye fell on the cover of this book of JJ McAvoy, I didn't care that I hadn't read anything of her before. I mean: look at the cover! Cute prince, with the title The Prince's Bride. Yep, gotta request that one. Maybe, just maybe, I should have looked at the blurb a little better, because then I would have known it was the first part of two books. Now I'm dangling on a big cliffhanger, awaiting the second part. I kinda hate you now JJ McAvoy, because I really want to know whether Odette and Gale will figure it out in the next part or not.
This book is cute and hilarious: Odette is the daughter of a very wealthy American, so she will be inheriting a lot of money. However, her daddy has remarried and has also a daughter with his new wife. Both his wife and his ex-wife try to make each others lives miserable, while Odette and her stepsister try to defuse the antics of their mothers. It is hilarious. Up untill Odette's father decrees that his daughters must be married before they can claim their part of the inheritance.
Odette's mother isn't worried: she has arranged a wonderful prince for Odette to marry. So, unknown to Odette, suddenly there is a prince at her doorstep...
Prince Galahad ('Gale') is second in line for the throne. Since his big brother is better in - wel probably - everything, Gale spends his days in having fun and chasing after women. But since his father has gotten ill, it turns out that their kingdom is nearly bankrupt. So now it is up to Gale to step up and do his duty for the kingdom: he must marry a very rich woman to ensure the future of Ersovia. He is send over to America to woo Odette, who is supposedly able to ensure enough millions to save Ersovia. Marriage is not something Gale has ever considered. Especially not a marriage to a woman like Odette.
Although Odette and Gale both don't want to get married, they both recognize the merrits of being married to each other, to get what they want. Their banter is hilarious and Odette's mother certainly doesn't leave anything to chance to have the lovebirds spend time together...
In all, a wonderful slow burn story. Cute and sweet and a lot of laughter. But then.... the book ends, just as Gale is rushed back to Ersovia because of a family tragedy. What will happen now?! Ugh. Four out of five stars from me, because I have to wait at least another month to know how the story will end. With a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.
This book has so much growth in it.
This is not a standalone. It’s a duet so please know that before you pick it up!
That ending????? Yeah I’m going to need book two super soon please lol
“You are forever. That’s the difference”
Say no more! The prince had his moments but so did she. They are hot and cold but they have some fun banter and so many cute moments together.
Gale and Odette have a lot coming their way but I know they will make it! I hope!
„Do not try to look at the end. Instead, enjoy the present with me.”
I adore books about modern royalty and I love marriage of convenience trope. And let me tell you, J.J. McAvoy mixed the two brilliantly! The Prince’s Bride is a sweet and swoony slow-burn romance that will give you all the feels. It’s filled to the brim with sizzling chemistry, witty banter and delicious push and pull. It’s such an entertaining and heartfelt story that it’s just impossible to put down!
Neither Gale nor Odette were in a hurry to the altar, however, they both found themselves in a situation that required exactly that. The young playboy Prince is forced by his family to be married in order to save the crumbling monarchy. A beautiful heiress and singer must find a husband to gain access to her trust fund. Although they both initially resisted this idea conceived by their families, the time they spent together brought them closer and awakened feelings they had not expected. Gale is a real Prince Charming who will steal your heart. Odette is a strong and independent woman who’s not swept off her feet easily. And even though their 'getting to know each other' was sweet, fun and adorable, I wanted to grab them like dolls and made them finally kiss!
This story is lovely and heartwarming. I love that Mrs. McAvoy threw diversity into the mix and that the romance between main characters isn’t rushed. And although the steam level is lower than I’d like, I understand that it's significant in this story. I know that J.J. can write a scorching hot scenes, so now I cannot wait for the second part of Prince’s Bride, especially after that jaw-dropping ending!
I just could not connect with any of the characters or the story for that matter. I usually enjoy JJ's novels but somewhere along the line, her stories have become some lengthy and long in matter. Then on top of that they are just too much and extravagant that it takes away from the book.
Arc provided by publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Be warned - The Prince's Bride will suck you into the story and then leave you on a cliffhanger!
It took me a little bit to warm up to the characters but once I did, I was all in. They are both so much more than you think they are on the surface and I cannot wait to read the next one in the series. I need to know what happens next.
Definitely recommend for fans of royal romances.
The slow burn in this book is so delicious! I love how the author allow them to have time to know each other and learn about themselves.
This is such a sweet romance!
Also, Odette’s mother and step mother made me miss soap operas from the early 90’s! Their tongues are sharp and I loved it.
I can’t wait for book 2
3.5 stars
Received a copy of this book through NetGalley for an honest review. This in no way plays any part in how I rated this book.
Take & Odette have me hooked!! I enjoyed their banter, their humour and their chemistry. Throw in an arranged marriage, royalty, a dash of subterfuge & two meddling mother in laws and you’re in for a great read. Cannot wait for book 2!!
5⭐️
This author can write! Whew....And I can not wait to read book 2!! Wow. I loved it. And just look at this cover! *Swoon* I have a big smile on my face because they were so cute. You might not like the word cute, but that’s what it was. It was also precious, adorable, and fan fiction worthy. I laughed out loud and fell in love with all characters.
It was realistic and romantic. I loved all the royals and their guards. Odette’s mom was awesome and I enjoyed the mother, daughter relationship.
If you want something good, romantic and funny, then you’ll love this. I highly recommend this book. You need to add this to your list.
Thank you NETGALLEY and the publisher for this ARC, in exchange for my honest review. ♥️
Let me start off by saying that I'm the fool that didn't know this wasn't a standalone. So when I got to the ending, I was all like WHAAAAAAT?! You better believe I'll be looking forward to part two, which is due to release on November 27th.
What you'll get with this book:
✔ a playboy prince who didn't seem to be answerable or responsible for anything
✔ said prince finding his way, finding growth, and finding his heart while being manipulated to find a wife with means
✔ a rich girl who isn't really aware of her absolute privilege who is vehemently opposed to getting married. When her father's will dictates that she gets no money if she doesn't have a husband, she has a lot of thinking and reevaluating to do
✔ hot and cold treatment, a heroine who can't make up her mind, and a hero who has to learn a new approach to getting what he wants
✔ sweet, sweet banter and tons of cuteness
✔ an entertaining and delightful read
I've been a huge JJ McAvoy fan ever since I devoured her Ruthless People series. I've read plenty of her contemporary work, loved them, and loved this. She nailed the whole 'marriage of convenience' trope and although this is an extremely slow burn (I'm talking no intimacy, people!), I found myself captivated by this story. I need the next book STAT!
Odette Wynter finds herself in need of a husband that she really doesn’t want. Since she’s not really interested, her mom goes to work eventually finding whom she believes to be the perfect match. Now all her mom has to do is get Odette to agree to this marriage of convenience which will not be easy considering Odette never wanted to get married.
The Prince of Ersovia, Galahad Fitzhugh Cornelius Edgar, needs a wife, and his family seems to think that Odette Wynter would be perfect for him. Reluctantly Galahad, or Gale for short, agrees to the marriage now all he has to do is try and convince Odette that regardless of how they were brought together maybe being together won't be so bad.
The Prince’s Bride is a slow burn romance. Since Odette is not all in on their arrangement, the majority of the story is spent with these two getting to know each other and in turn fall in deep like with each other which makes you really root for this couple. I loved getting to know this couple and was so caught up in their romance, I didn’t even see the ending coming. Let me just say, I was not happy but it made me eager for book 2. Besides the ending, which had me in my feelings by the way, I really enjoyed this story . It has a great flow and the characters are really likable and that is why I am impatiently waiting to see what happens next.
“You are forever. That is the difference.”
This was so good. I’m dying for the second book and I’m in love with Gale and Odette! The marriage of convenience trope is one of my favorites. But this masterpiece of slow burn, friends first, drinking wine and talking all night, lots of kisses, literally romance masterpiece was everything!! And all the drama between Odette’s mom and stepmom was juicy. I’m usually annoyed by that kind of drama but this was written so well. It added just enough drama. Like crazy drama. It was so good. I can’t recommend this enough.
I really enjoyed the siblings and the banter. These were enjoyable wholesome moments that made me love them all. I just smiled the whole time. It was so refreshing. It was so fun. It was so romantic. It was everything I didn’t know I needed and I can’t wait for the second part.
I loved the multicultural aspects of this book-- a romance between a white man and a black woman that was refreshingly free of prejudice. Both characters were well drawn and the book was a lot of fun to read. I wasn't expecting the cliff-hanger at the end; that's not characteristic of the romance genre. But the book itself was quite satisfying and makes me want to read the next installment.
