This is a fun read. It is a oral history of LA Stand up comedy filled with wonderful photographs. Some of the names will be familiar. It was interesting to read about their early days of performing as independent comedians. The accompanying photographs really enhance the interviews. Enjoy the laughs

Nice oral history of the alt comedy scene in Los Angeles in the early part of this century, centered around the performers and producers of the Super Serious Show. Really interesting to see candid pictures of the performers at the time of their early performances and to read their recollections of a scene I had no part of, although it is amazing how many of them have gone on to become famous parts of comedy and entertainment. Drags a little at times but an interesting look into what it means to be a comedian and what it means to build and have a community.

I was interested in the history of LA comedy, and loved that so many well known comedians were featured in the book. Great photos too!

I am a huge stand up comedy fan, even having dated one, so I enjoy the culture. It took me a good hundred pages to get in to the groove of this book. It seemed to me that the snippets by the artists were cut off almost mid sentence and my OCD of not having the artists picture next to the interviews was something I struggled with. Overall the book got into a groove that I settled in to and thoroughly enjoyed. The photos are fabulous and made you wish you knew what they were thinking in that moment. The book really delves in to the lives of stand-ups and what they struggle with and enjoy as they navigate life as an entertainer, I will probably go back and reread the first hundred pages again knowing now what the cadence of the book is.
