When I read this book back in 2020, I gave it 3 Stars but neglected to provide a review. As I am working on some older galleys in my queue, this is a book that I chose to reread so that my thoughts on it could be fresh.

Maybe I have Amish on the brain as in the past few days I have read over a dozen Amish fiction books, including rereading this one. This time around I am granting this book 5 Stars. This book really got to me this time because the heart, loss, grief and love all played important roles between what happened for Tillie and Levi.

Tillie had not yet been baptized in the Amish faith and left with her boyfriend at the time Melvin. She has returned home for a time as she is heavily pregnant and is rethinking her life with Melvin, all while missing being Amish. However, the rules are strict, and Tillie has some hard decisions she has to make, especially as unwed mothers are not accepted in the Amish faith.

As Tillie was never baptized, she is not officially shunned, but that doesn't mean she can remain, especially once her unborn child is born. One night after being stressed out she flees. She ends up in Levi's barn during a heavy snowstorm. The snow is falling hard and the roads might soon be impassible, so Levi offers Tillie a room, at least for the night.

This is especially difficult for Levi as he lost his pregnant wife and their unborn child. He is plagued with both grief and anger at the loss and now he is dealing with a pregnant woman in his house - a woman who ends up giving birth there.

While Levi is dealing with the pain of his losses, Tillie is trying to sort her future. I love the story between Tillie and Levi, especially as Tillie cannot help but hope for reunification with Melvin. Trying to imagine love after loss and new beginnings was difficult but the story was so touching that it truly rang home to me, especially after a second read.

Many thanks to Zebra Books and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

This was a sweet story following Tillie as she runs away from the English world back home to her Amish heritage. She finds comfort with Levi, who is grieving the loss of his wife and unborn child. By helping Tillie with her baby, he finds peace and learns to love again.

Thank you to NetGalley and Amy Lillard for this advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review.

The fourth book in Amy Lillard's Amish of Pontotoc series is An Amish Husband for Tillie. It follows the youngest Gingerich sister. Tillie left the Amish with her long time Amish boyfriend Melvin for the English world because he wanted to work on engines. Then she gets pregnant and just wants to raise her child the way she was raised. She leaves a note for Melvin and heads home, very pregnant and alone. Her mother and sisters are all so happy she is home, but everyone knows she can't stay if Melvin doesn't come too. A young man in their community, Levi Yoder, recently lost his wife and unborn child. Just looking at Tillie causes him pain, as she looks like what he lost. At a family get together, Tillie is overwhelmed and leaves the house, going for a walk. A storm comes up and she finds herself hiding in Levi's barn. He brings her inside and offers her a warm place to ride out the storm. The two of them never expect to find healing and hope in each other and in the events of that night, but they do. It was a sweet story and I enjoyed it. I am hoping there are a few more stories about the Pontotoc Amish community, as it is just a short ride from my house and I enjoy reading about places that I have been, especially in fictional settings. Thanks to #NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read this book. All opinions are my own.

I loved Tillie and Levi story. Tillie comes home pregnant and was Amish but not married. I love how Tillie’s family welcomed her home.

Levi just recently lost his wife and unborn child. He is having a difficult time, of course. I love how his sister helps him out.
I really enjoyed their scenes in the book.

I love the family atmosphere in the book. Had some really good cooking scenes. I enjoyed this book so much.

I receive an advanced copy of the book from the author. I was not required to write an positive review.

It’s Christmas time and it’s bittersweet for Tillie Gingerich and Levi Yoder. Tillie left her family, community, and friends behind in Pontotoc because her long-time boyfriend, Melvin Yoder, wanted to go English. Levi is mourning the death of his wife and unborn child. Christmas was her favorite time of year.

Tillie longs for home and returns unwed and pregnant. She’s hoping Melvin will come after her, marry her and raise their child Amish.

Since the death of his family six months earlier, Levi has pretty much been staying to himself. He only leaves his home for church or if he needs something from the store.

I don’t want to say anymore for fear of giving the story away but, you have to pick up a copy of this book! The bishop told Tillie that Melvin would have to return and marry her or she couldn’t stay. Did Melvin and Tillie marry? Did he return to marry her and take her back to his English life or did he come back to stay?

What of Levi? Does he accept his loss and start living again? Thank you, Amy Lillard for another wonderful story!!!

An Amish Husband for Tillie by Amy Lillard is the 4th novel in Amish of Pontotoc series. I recommend reading the series in order. This will allow you understand the sisters’ stories. I was eager to read Tillie’s tale. I found this emotional story to be well-written with steady pacing. The characters are realistic and developed. I was happy to that Tillie’s large family was included and that we get to catch up with her sisters from the previous three books (Leah, Hannah, and Gracie). Tillie Gingerich is scared to return home after taking off for the English world with Melvin Yoder. We get to experience her fears and uncertainties. Tillie knows the rules of the community, but she wants to spend Christmas with her family. Her baby is due in less than a month which has her longing for the comfort of home and family. I thought the author did a wonderful job at expressing Tillie’s emotions and thoughts. Amy Lillard does the same for Levi Yoder who is devastated when his pregnant wife dies unexpectedly. Levi goes from happy husband and expectant father to a widower. The approaching holidays are not helping his mood nor the caring ladies of the community who drop by with food. I could feel Levi’s grief and how overwhelming it is to him. I could relate to his feelings regarding the holiday season. I did not understand the bishop’s decision regarding Tillie considering that she was not a baptized member. I know it is fiction, but I found the situation harsh. I wanted to give that bishop a piece of my mind. I just loved Levi’s sister, Mims. She is a force to be reckoned with when she is on a mission. You can tell how much she loves her brother. An Amish Husband for Tillie is a moving and inspiring story. We see that God’s plan for our life may not be our plan. We never know what he has in mind for our lives. The story deals with love, faith, forgiveness, acceptance, trust, compassion, and second chances. Everyone deserves a second chance. An Amish Husband for Tillie is a touching and encouraging holiday story that will tug on your heartstrings.

All Tillie wanted was home for her and her baby. Love was not part of the mix, but it snuck up on her anyway. She'd had it tough and she just wanted a different and new life at home.
Life had taken Levi through the grinder and he just wanted to be left alone. There is this thing about grief, it loves its company. My heart went out for him as he struggled to believe any good could come out of his misfortune and pain.
Tillie and Levi both just wanted peace and light at the end of the dark tunnels of their lives. Both of them had history they learnt to accept and move on, making the best out of life.

The beauty and closeness of the Amish family was so heartwarming and refreshing in this book.
This is a beautiful story of second chances, love, redemption and forgiveness.

I recommend this to anyone looking for a beautiful Christmas read as this story was set during that time.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley and this is my honest opinion.

It took me a little to get into this book but once I got through the first few chapters, I really enjoyed reading this book.

Tillie and Levi were an unlikely couple but I'm happy they were able to find themselves and their way together.

Tillie is a young Amish woman who has been the “prodigal daughter” and is now expecting a baby. She has long regretted her impulsive action to leave their Amish community to follow her boyfriend into an English lifestyle, and she’s returned home to her family to seek forgiveness and help. Levi Yoder is grieving the loss of his wife and unborn child. He’s wants to be left alone to grieve, but an unexpected meeting with Tillie forces him to reach out to provide aid to someone else. Tillie’s future depends on the decision of the bishop as to whether she’s allowed to rejoin the community, but her hope hope is to spend Christmas with her family. With so much happening in the lives of Tillie and Levi, this will be a Christmas like neither have experienced.

I had great sympathy for both Tillie and Levi. The author did a beautiful job of making these characters come to life, and I could enter into all the conflicting emotions they were experiencing. I loved how God’s grace, mercy, love, and forgiveness was an integral part of their story. It’s not often that I’m completely surprised by not one, but two, twists in a storyline, but this added another layer of interest and made me keep reading to see how everything would come together for Tillie and Levi. This story is inspiring and encouraging reading.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

AN AMISH HUSBAND FOR TILLLIE is a slow romance, a bit depressing as both main characters are going through losses of different sorts. Tillie tends to react and not think and Levi overthinks.

A sweet romance, this is for readers who don't want their reads to come and go in a heated rush. If slow and easy is your speed, grab a copy today. You will love this story.

I was given a copy free. All opinions are my own.

Grieve over a loved one can make you relive the moments with them over and over again. It can be actual death of a loved one or death of a loving relationship. Amy Lillard described both of these circumstances so well in an Amish Husband for Tillie, that I felt their loss as well as they did. You won't be disappointed though in the suspense, the romance, and the loving families that make up the dynamics of this story.

The character of the Amish bishop drew my attention. He might have played a small role but he had a big decision to make. I always feel kind of sorry for the leaders making their decisions.

What a enjoyable book that kept my attention throughout!

This book was given to me by the publisher but the opinion is my own.

An Amish Husband for Tillie by Amy Lillard

Reading an Amish book is one full of adventure.

Tillie and Levi, two characters broken by circumstances. Is there a future for each of them?

I love how Tillie’s family rallied around her. This theme showed that family will always be there.

I won’t stop gushing about the Amish meals being prepared. I would love to eat a cinnamon bun if I could.

This is such a sweet book. The book cover is so attractive. I enjoyed it so much.

5 stars rating.

I truly loved this book! I have greatly enjoyed reading books by Ms. Lillard, and this one did not disappoint! I love that this author touches on topics that are challenging, and yet keeps the storyline very personal and compassionate.

All of the characters in this book were wonderfully explored, and I loved that there were no real villains. The many dimensions of the different relationships were explored, and it was easy to delve into this book and feel like I, as the reader, was there in the midst of the family and all of the many emotions. The characters that were in the book could easily have been cast in shadowy ways, but this author did a beautiful job in keeping all judgement at bay and just exploring the situations from each individual angle from that persons viewpoint. It was wonderful!

I especially loved that I truly could not forecast the ending of this book. I sort of had the ideas of what happened go thru my mind a little a couple of times, but without giving away too much of the storyline for those who have not read the book yet, the plot twists and turns were marvelous! The ending was superb!

Will a Christmas miracle bring them together?

One of the things I love most about Amy Lillard's books is that they are not carbon copies of each other. With many Amish fiction authors once you've read one book you've pretty much read them all. But, not only is An Amish Husband For Tillie different than most Amish storylines, but it's also different than the other books in the Amish Of Pontotoc series.

I liked Tillie and Levi right off. Tillie has made some mistakes but she wants nothing more than to return to her family and faith and to raise her baby there. Levi has been brought low by tragedy but when it counts the most he steps outside of his own pain to help. They both have honest questions about where God is in the hard times and what He asks of us. Definitely things that most people ask at various points in their lives.

There were a couple of things I wondered about but they didn't change my enjoyment of the story. The biggest one was whether marriage would really be more important to the Amish than a young woman's faith and her repentant return to the church? But, then, a good book does make you think, wonder, question.

I think one of my favorite things about An Amish Husband For Tillie was that it didn't focus solely on romance. Amy Lillard drew the relationship out slowly, allowing Levi time to start healing and Tillie to deal with the consequences of her choices.

If you are looking for a sweet Amish romance set at Christmastime you should definitely check out this fourth book in the Amish Of Pontotoc series. As with the previous books it's a good one.

Tillie is back in Pontotoc Amish Community. Tillie left the community to go be with Melvin Yoder now she is back. Things aren't going so great with Melvin and the outside world as she thought. Only this time she is showing up without Melvin and pregnant. Tillie is going through so much and so many different emotions. Will her family accept her back with open arms? Will Melvin ever open his eyes and see what he is losing?
I really enjoyed this book. I had a hard time putting it down once I started. I didn't want it to end.
