This is a truly delightful book. I've read all of the books in the Amish of Pontotoc series and it's wonderful to revisit the characters here and get updated on what they've been doing .
It feels like coming home reading these books, they are just so warm and welcoming.
Returning home again leaves Tillie with concerns after being stared at and gossiped about. Will she be accepted and how will the bishop handle her return, it has her prayerful and nervous.
I felt empathetic towards Levi's character when I found out he had lost his wife and baby .
I loved the connection Levi and Tillie had and felt their characters strengthened each other when they where together.
Love, acceptance, faith, trust and compassion and key here.
Beautiful story with a strong plot. I recommend it.

The description is wrong just needed to get that out there. Inspite of that this is an awesome book. I felt that it was nicely handled even though there was one aspect with which I wasn't 100% pleased. Even though the details of this story line was complicated and deep for such a short time line it was not rushed.

I believe that the author took us on the journey of these two hearts that was so complete and completely beautiful. It was a true testament to beauty from ashes. I can see this see this story playing out in real life for anyone not just an Amish couple even though a few parts that are particularly Amish may need to be edited.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will definitely read it again closer to Christmas.

This is the first book I’ve read by Amy Lollard and I look forward to reading more! I loved the character Tillie, she was a breath of fresh air in the Amish genre. I could relate to her pain, confusion, crisis of faith, as well as her desire to do the right thing and set her hearts desires aside. This book was a huge blessing to me!!

An Amish Husband for Tillie by Amy Lillard is the perfect book for Christmas. I have long been a fan of the author and Lillard has written the perfect story needed right now.
Tillie left her home and family due to being in love but now has returned to her family at Christmas. She is having doubts and is unsure of how she will be received due to she is with child. Tillie is able to stay at least through the holidays and her life is turned upside down.
This is such a heartwarming story that touches on so many aspects of the Amish family life. There is love of family, friendship, sorrow, new beginnings, humor, and drama.
I hope there will be a second book with Tillie as I want to see where life takes her.
I was given an ARC by NetGalley and the publisher Kensington/Zebra for an honest review.

This author has never failed to please me with one of her books and I love this one also. This was not a normal Amish romance but one that had a bit more meat to the story. Tillie comes back pregnant to her Amish home but having never married. She wants to stay but because of the rules she won’t be able to. This made me laugh and cry. I did not want to put this book down. This delved a bit deeper into some rules that some Amish groups have. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

Tillie left her Amish home to be with her “true love” Melvin, who had also left the Amish. When things did not work out as she hoped she came back home single and pregnant. Her mother gladly took her in, her father not so much. She knew the bishop would force her to leave but she wanted to at least spend her last Christmas with her family. A miracle happens in a most unexpected location during a snow storm. The love and joy that comes from this miracle opens the eyes of a widower. What will happen next and will the bishop lose patience with her still being at her family home?
Love and forgiveness play a big part in this story. I sometimes think the Amish rules are harsh when a member sins. Jesus forgives, so shouldn’t we? But we also must set good examples for those that look up to us.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through the author but was not required to write a review.

This was such a great story! Tillie Gingerich was in quite the predicament throughout the book. She had to deal with the shame of returning home as an unwed woman who was expecting a baby and she spent much of the book feeling out of place and hopeless about her situation.

Levi’s loss broke my heart. He was truly struggling after the death of his wife and unborn child. It had not been long since he lost them and it was clear that he felt true despair and loneliness.

The way Tillie and Levi ended up thrown together in a quite unique situation made for a great time of sweet bonding for the two of them. This story really pulled on my heartstrings and had me wondering how everything was going to work out.

Although this is book four in the Amish of Pontotoc series, I believe that it could be enjoyed even if the other books had not been read.

Sweet but thoughtful

This is the first book I have read by this author but will certainly not be the last. I found the plot and characters believable and with their own challenges, many reflected in the previous reviews on this site. I will instead reflect on the circle of birth and death coupled with Christmas and hope that you, the next readers, will see the parallels between this sweet but thoughtful novel and the Christmas story.

Thank you to the publisher who gave me a time-limited e-arc via Netgalley; I am not obliged in any way and this review is my own opinion.

"All she wanted was to return home, be among her family, and spend Christmas in their loving embrace."

A young unmarried woman hoping to spend Christmas with her Amish family, but afraid for them to see that she is pregnant. A young Amish man who dreads Christmas because he has just lost his wife and unborn baby. An Amish family who may have to turn their daughter away because of the rules of their Amish church. How can there possibly be a joyous Christmas in Pontotoc, Michigan?

Author Amy Lillard poignantly shares Tillie Gingerich's fears and uncertainties as she returns home, unmarried and expecting a child, after living as an Englisher with her ex-Amish boyfriend. Her realistic portrayal of Levi Yoder's overwhelming grief and his desire to avoid the holidays is one that many of us can relate to. I could totally imagine both of these character's struggles and then, in an unexpected occurrence, Levi is shown that life does go on and Tillie is given a glimpse of a future that she never dreamed possible. Will Tillie's church forgive her transgressions and will Melvin, her baby's father, return to the Amish way of life?

An Amish Husband for Tillie is an enjoyable story filled with a variety of emotions and several surprising twists but readers are reminded that hope is ever present, forgiveness is always possible, and everyone deserves a second chance. This book offers inspiration and encouragement and I recommend it to all who enjoy holiday stories and Amish Christian fiction.

Tillie Gingerich loves Melvin Yoder he wants to leave the Amish to go English. Tillie leaves with him and works at a daycare. As she struggles in the English she becomes pregnant and wants to return home. Melvin wants to stay in the English. When she returns home she knows Melvin will not come back but wants to spend Christmas with her family. The Bishop tells her the only way she can stay if Melvin comes back and they marry. Tillie meets Levi Yoder who lost his wife and infant child and is grieving. During a ice storm they are drawn together when he finds her in his barn. This is a beautiful story about two people grieving in different ways. Loved the story and loved the ending.

An Amish Husband for Tillie by Amy Lillard is book four in her Amish of Pontotoc series. Though part of a series, this novel reads well as a standalone.

Tillie Gingerich is burdened by her bad decisions. Levi Yoder is troubled by losses not of his own making. Amish rules and traditions make a relationship between them an impossibility. Will they find a way?

An Amish Husband for Tillie is a marvelous Christian Christmas novel. The characters are as warm and inviting as the season. The story is interesting and leaves you wondering how there could possibly be a happy ending. The themes of God’s will and Christmas miracles are featured throughout. This is a story of faith, hope and love. I truly enjoyed this 5 out of 5 star read and recommend it to all readers of Christian romance, especially Amish romance.

My thanks to Kensington Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.

An Amish Husband for Tillie revisits the Amish of the Pontotoc series. Here we meet Tillie again. She ran away with her Amish boyfriend when he wanted to live in the English world. Things though didn't work out the way she hoped. Tillie returns to her family and congregation in a compromising situation. Will Melvin return and help her to live the life she craves? Or will Tillie need to leave again and live a life of shame?
Recently widowed Levi Yoder just wants to be left alone to grieve. His much loving family though keeps forcing him out of his shell. When a Christmas miracle occurs, will Levi and Tillie ever be the same? And when an unexpected visitor returns, a happily ever after seems eluding? Will Tillie and Levi find a Christmas happily ever after? I really look forward to more in this series. I received a copy from Netgalley. A review was not required.

An Amish Husband for Tillie is the fourth book in the Amish of Pontotoc series. It works as a stand-alone; but for me reading the other 3 books first would have made it easier to keep the characters straight. This story chronicles the journey of an unmarried, pregnant young Amish woman Tillie Gingerich and a recently widowed Amish man Melvin Yoder who are both dealing with emotional and spiritual struggles. It is a story of mistakes, loss, and censure; but also love, hope, and forgiveness. The characters are engaging, and the plot flows at a steady pace with one totally unexpected twist. This is the first book I have read by Ms. Lillard. She is an excellent storyteller, and her insight into the Amish rules and lifestyle add depth and interest to the story. Spiritual truths are scattered throughout the book, and the real meaning of Christmas is clearly presented. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it especially to lovers of Amish fiction.

An Amish Husband For Tillie
By Amy Lillard
This is the first time ever that an Amish book has kept me guessing. I enjoy reading Amish fiction, as it is typically an easy and clean-read, but at times a tad boring. Not this one! I love Tillie and her family. I even like Melvin and Mims.
Amy Lillard is an incredibly talented writer who knows how to write books with characters who are relatable, dimensional, and with a true personality just shining through.
I think this book will appeal to a huge range of readers and I highly recommend it.

Thanks go to the publisher and Net-Galley for the complimentary copy of An Amish Husband for Tillie by Amy Lillard for the purpose of reading and reviewing prior to publication. My opinions are my own and no one has influenced them.

An Amish Husband for Tillie is a lovely Amish novel with engaging character and a fulfilling plot. The pacing kept me enmeshed in the story from the first page to the last. The setting is not common for Amish fictions since it’s set in Pontotoc, Mississippi. While I question the harsh severity of the bishop’s attitude, I’m confident other Amish communities can have different ways to handle the heroine’s situation.

Tillie Gingerich’s character is deeply troubled and confused when she returns to her family after living in the Englisch world with her boyfriend. She wants her unborn baby to be raised Amish, and her boyfriend refuses to return to the small Amish community they are from, so she comes back on her own. I could feel her fear for her child and the rejection of the extremely strict bishop. Her bewilderment of what she must do. Her choice is leave on her own or return to her boyfriend which isn’t what she wants for her child.

Levi Yoder is the hero, and he lost his beloved wife and unborn child a few months before. He dreads the Christmas season because he and his late wife imagined her having their babe on the blessed day. Seeing Tillie just adds to his misery. He tries to avoid the town, his family, and the pregnant Tillie, but his sister is determined to pull him kicking and screaming to the celebrations. His depression and need to isolate is understandable after suffering such a devastating loss.

When the very pregnant Tillie ends up in Levi’s barn during a violent snowstorm, that when Tillie and Levi’s romance begins. It’s sweet and believable because of the situation the couple are in. I truly wanted them to find their happy ending.

If you enjoy Amish fiction with characters and a plot that will touch your heart, then you will love An Amish Husband for Tillie as much as I did. I have enjoyed this heartwarming series. Happy reading!

An Amish Husband for Tillie is the fourth book in the Amish of Pontotoc series which is set in Mississippi. I was drawn in immediately and was reunited with characters we've met before and brought up to date with their lives. There are multiple story lines and they are woven together nicely. There are family and friends, lots of gatherings, church, Christmas activities, businesses to run, secrets, shame, sadness, tears, some darkness, happiness, laughter, romance and love.

Tillie returns home from the Englisch world she ran away to so she could be with her boyfriend Milton. Unfortunately things didn't work out as she expected especially with their struggles for money and the amount of socialization involved with parties and get togethers. She also misses her family and the Amish traditions and way of life she grew up with but Milton has turned his back on. She returns home alone bringing shame to the family and being gossiped about by everyone since she's pregnant and unmarried. Have they lost the love they once had? As she and Levi, a young widower who lost his wife and unborn baby two months ago and who's also a member of the church, become friends she helps ease his darkness and pain. I liked how his overbearing sister was always at his house fixing meals and trying to be there for him.

There were twists and turns to the story that kept my interest throughout. There were touching moments as well as those that brought tears to my eyes. There is an unexpected turn to the story that gladdened my heart and gave me the closure I look for especially with the ending taking place two years later. There seems to be more stories to tell and I look forward to reading them. I love the vibrant cover and how it depicts the Christmas season and superimposes Tillie on it.

Ms. Lillard is one of my favorite authors of Amish stories. I'm always transported to wherever her books are set and love getting to know the characters and their families and more about the Amish and their traditions. Give her books a try if you haven't already.

An Amish Husband for Tillie continues the Amish of Pontotoc series, set in Northeast Mississippi. Tillie is returning to her Amish family in a state of shame, eight months pregnant, after living with her Amish boyfriend Melvin. She and Melvin have loved each other for years. While he wants to live and work among the English, she doesn't. She wants to spend Christmas and beyond with her family, even though she knows that she will be shunned. She hopes that he will follow her but knows the chances are slim. Unless Melvin moves back too and they agree to go before the church, confess their sins, ask for forgiveness, and marry, they will not be able to live in their community. Tillie is subjected to stares and whispers from church members. Needing to get away from a crowded Christmas party at her parents' home, she sets out walking and gets lost during a winter storm and wound up at the home of a fellow church member, Levi, who recently lost his wife and unborn child. Mourning and wanting to be left alone, it was hard for him to allow her in his home but when Tillie goes into labor, he has to help her deliver the baby girl. The storm keeps them stranded for a few days and the two get to know each other. two souls who are in pain and unsure about their future.
This is an emotional story that really pulls on the heartstrings. Tillie is in a no win situation that I didn't know of a good outcome. Levi is drawn to the baby and to Tillie, opening himself up to the living again. But Melvin has to know that he has a baby girl. Will he return to Pontotoc to Tillie and the baby? Can they mend their relationship? This is a story that I didn't really want to end and it will stay with me for a while.
I received a complimentary ARC from Kensington Books and Zebra through NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine only.

I loved this book, I felt like I was walking in Tillie's shoes as she begins to grow up and accept responsibilities.
We also meet Levi, a young Amish man with so much hurt and pain, you wonder how he can move on?
Will Tillie's family allow her to return to them and her faith? I did not realize that when you have left with a fellow member of your community, and now there is a baby on the way, you both have to return and take a knee to remain.
You can see God's had here, through the words of the Author, and it is heart warming, remembering another baby born in a stable. A beautiful tribute to the true meaning of the Christmas season.
A sweet read, you don't want to miss.

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Kensington, and was not required to give a positive review.

Tillie absolutely loves Melvin= so much so that she agrees to move away from their small Amish community and live as English. They don't marry, though, and when she becomes pregnant, their different views of the future pull them apart, Tillie returns home and must deal with the fact that she is unmarried and pregnant in a culture that does not approve of what she's done. She's at a real low point when she meets Levi, a recent widower who also lost his son. These two build a friendship and that turns, as you know it will, to love. This is good clean romance with a big heart. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC,

The return would be hard enough but she is also pregnant - Her pregnancy leads to many conflicts within the community and her family. But Tillie perseveres, and the love of a good Amish man sets things to right. eventually.
