Fun, quest-based story featuring carefree Lizel and his first adventures with his hired companion, the infamous swordsman single-stroke Gil. I haven't read the light novel, but I love where the story's starting. It's hard to go wrong with the hardened adventurer and happy-go-lucky noble pairing, a magic gun, and of course labyrinth teddy bears. Recommend for fans of Beginning After the End and ranked dungeon type stories.

Welcome to this book review,
I received an ARC in exchange of an honest review !
This manga was oh so lovely, I loved how the "isekai" trope of people falling into a fantasy world was used as a person from another fantasy world falling into this one. I really enjoyed the way our two main characters interacted and their friendship. It was funny and witty, I enjoyed every second of it.
It was an amazingly entertaining short read, a perfect break after reading such heavy high-fantasy books just before !
Overall, I really recommend it.
4/5 thoroughly enjoyed, had a great time.

Hello everyone and welcome to Gray’s Nook where I discuss and review manga, short stories, and novels! In today’s blog, I was graciously allowed a copy of “A Gentle Noble's Vacation Recommendation” by MISAKI-MOMOCHI-SANDO from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I went into this novel with high hopes as the vibe from the cover and overall summary implanted the seed that this is going to be a wholesome yaoi manga.

I'm not new to the Isekai genre, but if you are, here's a brief explanation of it: "Isekai (Japanese: 異世界, transl. "different world") is an "accidental travel" genre of light novels, manga, anime, and video games that revolve around a normal person from Earth being transported to, reborn or otherwise trapped in a parallel universe or fantasy world. The protagonist is depicted as being already familiar with the parallel world, as it is often a fictional universe from a fictitious work published in the protagonist's origin universe (see Storybook Series)." (Wikipedia)

In most cases of Isekai genre, the MC can assimilate pretty easily to the new world as there are only a few differences to the universe they were brought to versus their original. This type of genre has become widely popular among manga, anime, books, and games which makes this type of subject matter of "hot potatoes" for me.

Lizel our Main Protagonist

The narrative follows Lizel, a noble from another world who has magically appeared in the capital of Parteda, which is between two hostile areas, Marcade and Kavannah. From my understanding and what our MC has elaborated to us is that he used to work for a king in his world. He was sitting in his room and suddenly found himself in the city of Parteda with just the clothes on his back and his sword. Taking this as an opportunity to possibly relax, Lizel decides that in order for him to assimilate to this new universe he needs someone to help guide him.

Gil, B-Rank Adventurer, tour guide, awesome chaperone; Solo Expeditioner

That's where Gil comes in, Lizel took an interest in him immediately in the first few pages after this adventurer sought to give a warning to Lizel when he was about to enter a dark and dangerous alley. At first, Gil seemed hesitant to even bother with Lizel, since he's dressed as a nobleman, but there was something intriguing enough for him to accept Lizel's offer to hire him for a month to be a bodyguard/chaperone/guide/teacher in this new world. It doesn't take long for the two to get into some interesting arguments of sorts, but overall the pair complement one another.

In honesty, the story is quite sluggish in progressing through the chapters as a lot of the introduction to the life in living in this new world is very similar to most JRPGs, like the Final Fantasy series and Kingdom Hearts. Much of the basis of the beginning has similar tropes to other Isekai books like 'That Time I Got Reincarnated into a Slime,' 'Overlord,' and 'Re:Zero.' I am a bit saddened that the characters, although they have strong personalities and left a good impression on me, the first volume to the series fell flat for me.

While I am depressed that this volume did not satisfy my hopes of the Isekai genre, I am looking forward to the second copy of the book and hoping that it will change my opinion of it.

Well if you've read any previous isekai series you'll find a lot to like here. Its a very light adventure story, with hints at a deeper story in the background. I found myself quite intrigued by mentions of the mysterious 'King' and can't wait to find out more about him in future volumes.

The art is lovely, crisp but with an adorable edge. No two characters are the same and are easily distinguishable, even though I was confused at times because there are quite a few of them and some of them are nameless which didn't help! I loved Gil's character design though, and Lizel was very cute, especially when just waking up.

The title is a bit of a mouthful, but this is fairly typical of a light novel adaption. They all have exceedingly long titles for some reason.

I can't fault the translation, everything flows smoothly and I didn't find anything particularly jarring or confusing.

One thing that did mark this down for me was that Lizel didn't seem to struggle with anything in this new world.. I thought this effected the suspense a little and would have liked to see things be a bit harder for him.

I would also say that this volume stops in a very strange place. It kind of just ends and then segues into a side story that seems to take place a bit earlier?

That said though I did like the development of Gil and Lizel's relationship and am interested in where it goes in future volumes.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC for my true and honest opinion.

I did enjoy the first volume of this manga series. The premise is around Lizel who finds himself in a city that he is not familiar, in fact in a world that he is not familiar with. In this new land he appears as a nobleman and decides that he should make the most of it and go on an adventure. He hires an adventurer named Gil as a form of tour guide and bodyguard.

I am really interested to learn more about the two individuals, the adventures they go on and the mysterious and magic.

Those who enjoy fantasy and Isekai genres will enjoy this book.

I wasn't expecting to like this as much as I did! The story follows Lizel, a noble who has mysteriously appeared in what appears to be an alternate version of his own world - similar enough to be familiar, but strange enough to know it's not. He quickly enlists Gil, a cranky B-rank explorer, as his tour guide and advisor for becoming a ranked explorer himself.
Lizel is a great character - almost the polar opposite of Gil's scowling black-clothed figure with his constant smile and elaborate light noble gear.
As this is the first issue, we're introduced to the Guild and the ins and outs of Adventurer Rankings, plus a handful of characters, and go on a brief adventure. I get the feeling that the next issue will be where we really dive into the adventure and properly get to know the side characters.
I really enjoyed this. The one slight drawback was that I don't think there was enough explanation as to how Lizel actually ended up there in the first place, or his back story - he just know he was a noble in his world. However, perhaps we'll learn more later in the series!

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the e-ARC.

Lizel finds himself lost in a new city that he doesn't know and also he doesn't know how he got there! He meets Gil, an adventurer, and together they become partners and seek the city for answers.

The plot is really great and interesting! I love epic adventures in cities with castles and magic, and this story is one of them! I really like Lizel, he's so gentle and adorable. On the other hand, Gil is serious and distant. But once the get to know each other they start to like their differences. They make a fantastic team.
This is not a boys love manga BUT they have a LOT of chemistry so I hope they become something romantic in the future.

I didn´t expect to like it so much and I'm so happy I did! I can't wait to read the second volume.

First things first, I like how the introduction was made. Liz got teleported or find himself in another world that is identical to his. The thing I did like was that he didn’t same scared by it, rather he took it calmly and handle it rationally which I find kind of unrealistic, if ever I find myself in that situation I’ll literally panic. But that eventually intrigued me and made me sucked into his character more.

As for Gil and Liz relationship, I don’t know but I did felt that this series might be a fantasy BL manga in some instance or scenes that just screams bromance or I just read so many BL mangas and webcomics.

Also the whole adventure part seemed to be too easy that Liz our main character wasn’t having a hard time at all which for me is okay but unrealistic again.

Overall, the manga really did well into sucking me with the whole curiosity that I think was okay. The characters as well, I’m very intrigued with Liz’s character.

The first volume gives us a good idea of where this story is going but I don't feel that it was a bad thing to be sort of predictable. I loved the partnership between Gill and Lizel, and I really hope their relationship develops more because it's visible that Lizel is hiding things. Also, more depth regarding Gil and Lizel would be great, which I know sometimes takes a while to happen so I hope in the next volumes it will happen.
The story is similar to some other mangas I've read (like Fairy Tail) but the aspect of being in a world that you don't belong to adds complexity and more future angsty.

A fun and charming novel about a young man who finds himself in a new world and decides to take a vacation and become an adventurer. I found the story to be sweet and fun. The relationships amongst the characters are charming and I really liked the art style! Overall a really nice light read and I can't wait to read the rest of Lizel's journey as an adventurer!

A Gentle Noble’s Vacation Recommendation starts with our MC, Lizel, arriving in town and acquiring information right away. Turns out he came from another world, so purchases the services of Gil, aka “Single Stroke”, a B rank adventurer to show him the lay of the land and act as his protector as needed. Lizel throws a lot of people for a loop because he looks like a noble (he is, just not in this world) but he throws himself into the adventuring world with Gil at his side. He quickly gains powerful allies and beguiles people with his friendly countenance and sharp mind, deciding that since he doesn’t know how long he’ll be in this world he’s going to just throw himself into it and enjoy it while he can.
An interesting story so far, I’m intrigued where it will go from here.

Interesting premise, but flat with key information missing to grow the suspense (it didn't). I definitely feel like the series has premise, but this is yet another manga where you are thrown into a world and characters with zero explanation and little development along the way. While you get to know the main two characters decently well, it feels like information is purposefully being left out to make you read more just to find out the answers to questions. The teases aren't really compelling, more a mild curiosity. I also have a hard time trusting any of the characters because things feel dubious and falsely cheery.
But, all of that being said, it's an interesting premise, and I'm curious enough to continue.

A Gentle Noble's Vacation Recommendation Vol. 1 was a fun, entertaining read. I loved how Lizel, far from panicking, decided to take his arrival in an unknown world as an opportunity for an adventure holiday. He and Gil both came across well as characters, and though it's not billed as such, I felt there were some potential boy-love vibes developing between them by the end of the volume. The drawing style was beautiful, the artwork appealing, so all up this was an engaging tale and one I would definitely be interested to continue reading to find out how Lizel and Gil's partnership will progress.

I really enjoyed reading this manga! This was a refreshing take on the isekai genre which I think will really appeal to readers.

Lizel suddenly finds himself transported to a world that’s not his. While he is able to speak the language and understand others, he has no other knowledge of the world he is in. Additionally, he appears to be a nobleman of some kind. Instead of panicking, Lizel decides to make the most of his time in this world. He goes so far as to hire an adventurer named Gil as a form of tour guide and bodyguard. Lizel isn’t sure how long he will be in this world, but he has decided to enjoy this random vacation of his!

This honestly was a short and funny read! Lizel acts really laid-back and aloof for his situation which is very different from your average isekai. The way he goes about living in this new world is rather amusing, especially since it often annoys the usually grumpy Gil. I’m really curious about the backstories of both of them! Fans of the action/adventure genres as well as the fantasy and isekai genres will enjoy this book! It reminds me vaguely of The Rise of the Shield Hero!

I had no idea that this was based off a light novel series. I will definitely be looking forward to the upcoming volumes of this series!
