Weapons of the Civil War Cavalryman is an interesting read. I learned some new information. I give it five stars.

I believe this book would serve as a great basic reference source for anyone with an interest in such things. I am thinking of fiction writers or, perhaps, re-enactors who have an interest in authenticity but limited knowledge.

The reading can be a little dry at times but it does give a nice overview of the various weapons available to Civil War era soldiers. Those types most frequently used along with brief history regarding the manufacture and distribution of many of those same weapons. The pictures are outstanding.

I would recommend a physical copy (rather than a digital or ebook which is what I read) simply because this is the type of book you will want to hold in your hands and have handy for reference.
