In this beautifully illustrated, well laid out, encouraging, inspiring, and gently thought-provoking devotional book, each day opens with a different passage of Scripture. This is followed by a brief summation of the thoughts being expressed, which I’m guessing is from the writer for that day.
Then an opportunity is given to dive more deeply into the personal application for the reader, as each devotional writer shares a short, relatable story that applies to her and also relates to the bible passage for that day. Here, I found ideas that gelled with me and made me think.
As we take time to think about how it relates to our own lives, pray, connect with our inner feelings, reflect, write directly in the pages or separately journal our response, we find ourselves being transparent before God. This practice also unearths deep-seated reactions within ourselves.
In this way, we engage more fully with the bible verses being shared. And we also benefit from reading about the experiences of the writers themselves. By maintaining an open mind and heart, we are better placed to hear from God, and be reassured that he hears from us, and understands our thoughts.
I enjoyed the necessary slowing down thoughtfulness which this book requires. It helped me focus more clearly on the passages before me and be open and honest about my immediate response. It definitely pays to not rush through these daily devotions but to allow them to read you as you read and reflect on them. An excellent and beneficial resource for women of all ages and backgrounds to relate to.

I have never been much of a devotional girl. When we lean on devotions for our “Word of the Day” and not seek the Father for ourselves, are we really growing? Yes, they can be a great stepping-stone for new believers, but they can also be a barrier to the Father’s voice who desires to speak to us through His Word. That is one of the reasons I enjoyed Our Daily Bread’s latest devotional, God Hears Her, because they invite believers to journal and go deeper into the Word rather than read a few pages, close the book, and go about the day without fully grounding ourselves in the Messiah. Without overly explaining or going deep into a testimony, this devotion allows women to add their own input and ask the Lord to guide them in their morning, afternoon, or evening study.
While I thought this was a good tool to grow closer to the Creator, I did find the material quite repetitive and self-centered. I won’t eliminate the whole devotion as a self-promoting book because there were a few sections that got us to remember others, but I did feel uneasy about how often the authors wanted women to look in themselves and pray for their own lives rather than learning the act of selfless servitude. I also wouldn’t say I learned anything new while going through this 40-day devotional or that this book was made to appeal to women solely. Personally, I had hoped that it would go deeper into what women go through and explore the women in the Bible and how their strengths and weaknesses can be a testimony to us; however, this book was broad and spoke mostly on topics that affect all mankind, not just women.
Did I enjoy this devotional? I did. Though my critique is harsh, I need to state that there were days where the material perfectly spoke into the events going on in my life, and throughout these 6 weeks, I was inspired to focus more on Jesus. Would I recommend this book to others? Probably, though I would add a disclaimer that they should not be afraid to create their own questions and dive into a deeper study because the daily entries were a good base but not the main course that would fill our souls.

I received this book from the publisher through Netgalley for review and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
What a delightful devotional! Meant to be given as a gift or personal use, it has no kindle version at present. This is a journal, a place for response to scripture and thus very personal. The format is typical of a devotional style journal with ample area to write, Q&A, prayer and bullet style prompts. The uniqueness of the journal is in the way it has you enter the story. What do you see, smell, taste, hear, etc as you re-read the passage of scripture. This will be a favored journal for many and a lovely gift this holiday season.

#God Hears Her 4o day Devotional Journal# by Our Daily Bread ministries. This devotional journal is written by several people. The journal starts out with a passage, then their is a devotional. After the devotional there are several sections with questions you fill in. It is practical and helpful. It shows how God listens to us when we call on Him. I like the questions that tie into the devotional. It is nice there are different authors. It is easier to apply the devotional when there are personal questions. Thank you to Our Daily Bread for allowing me to read and review this book. I hope it is very successful.

I daily rotate thru different books for a devotional. So to review this book, I circulated in into my current list for almost two weeks. Really enjoyed the feminine style. Also, for busy schedules, the entries seem like a perfect fit for time. Very much plan to incorporate this devotional into more of my God time. Highly recommended.

I first heard of these devotionals from a couple that I follow online who run a church mission. The passages and thoughts provided for each day are written specifically for women. They are current and relevant to the concerns of women today. Because it's a journal, there is space provided after each passage to write down your thoughts and reflections each day. It's not a calendar based journal, so it allows the freedom to choose when you want to start and whether you want to use it daily or less often. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for Christian faith based inspiration.

Right now I am devouring devotionals to help calm me and give me peace through studying God’s word. The devotions are easy to read and understand and leave your spirit uplifted.

An inspirational and comforting book, filled with precious nuggets and gems, it enriches your soul because reading it was like taking a daily vitamin supplement encapsulated with the beautiful words of guidance, love, hope, and all things that are possible from God. It fortifies your mind, body, and soul, it’s beautiful in all the ways and is worthy of keeping close to your chest.

I liked the different ways each day of the devotional encouraged you to engage with the scripture. Unfortunately, I got the sense that this devotional was written for a specific type of woman at a specific time of her life, and it just didn't match up with where I am in my life. It seems like a nice devotional that many women will enjoy, but it's just not the right devotional for me right now.

I loved this devotional! I own a lot of devotionals because I like daily positive messages and this one did that! I also liked the spiritual aspect of this particular devotion. The scriptures gave me a lot to consider without being overdone.
I've only used the devotional for 10 days, but I can tell it is a great way to deepen my spiritual life. I am looking forward to the next 30 days of using this devotional and I believe it is one that I will repeat many times!

A very good collection of devotions. I highly recommend this book. I received an advance ebook from the publisher and this is my unbiased review.

This was a lovely 40 day devotional. I loved the cover and outline of the book. It starts with scripture and then it’s outlined with connecting, then praying and lastly writing or journaling your thought to God. I really liked it and it enabled me to take what I read a step further.
If you’re like me, you’re running out of energy on everything. I work long hour in health care and get less than 6 hours of sleep a night. With long car rides to work and back. So this just what I needed to start each day. A manageable bible reading, which is incorporated with a heartfelt example of our lives today.
I found this helpful and encouraging.
I highly recommend this devotional.
Thank you NETGALLEY and the publisher for this ARC, in exchange for my honest review. ♥️

This book will be welcomed by those who are interested in deepening their spiritual life. It is clearly a Christian title. For each day, there is a biblical passage, a short personal reflection and several prompts with space to fill in one's thoughts. Those who regularly read publications from Our Daily Bread should enjoy this title and find it to be helpful.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was fantastic! I decided to do this devotional for about a week before writing my review. I really enjoy journaling and love finding new daily devotionals. The things that made this really stand out for me where:
1. I loved how much Scripture was in each day. There are so many daily devo's out there that only have a verse, but this one really hit the Scripture daily and I enjoyed that. Once you read the Scripture, there's a devotion and journaling to follow.
2. I loved the "feminine" design of it. It was really enjoyable as a woman, to read devo's geared towards women.
3. As much as I enjoy my Bible time, this was short enough each day that I could still sit down with it for a few minutes, even if I was busy or didn't feel like I had time. The questions really evoked a lot of thought and I could decide how much time I wanted to spend journaling after that.
I will definetely purchase this for the ladies in my weekly Bible Study Group! I was telling them all about it and showing them spoilers inside of it and everyone is so excited to start using it! This would also make a great group activity to do for seasons when everyone is busy but still wants to meet up!

Forty days of guided prayers to remind you that God does indeed hear you. This is an interactive journal that is meant to guide you through a journey to know Him better and walk away changed by the realization that God does hear you. I loved the layout of each day and how the order was not always the exact same. Basically, a passage of Scripture, a personal story from one of the contributors to make it personal and then a space to Connect. In the Connect space, questions are asked to prompt your own heart to make the message personal and relatable. Then, you are prompted to pray and talk to God about the key theme identified in your heart during the passage. A section is provided to write and record the things you have learned and received. I appreciated the design and the workbook format. A great gift for women, young and old. I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley and all opinions expressed are my own and freely given.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for provide me with a digital copy in exchange for my honest review.
Bello, con hermosos pensamientos y sobre todo, lo que me encanto, es que hay amplio espacio para escribir. Lo recomiendo.

I just LOVED this devotional!! I could hardly put it down, and definitely read it much faster than I was supposed to!! 😅
It seems like a lot of times with devotionals, they don't put hardly any scripture in it. But this one had a bit more that usual, and I really enjoyed that part about it. They put some really good scripture in it that was just what I needed.
It had some really good points in it, things I'll definitely ponder over for awhile. The people who wrote this really portrayed a strong faith that I appreciated and admired!!
I would highly recommend this for anyone who needs a good devotional!!
*Thank you to the publisher and author for providing me a copy of this book on NetGalley. I was not required to write and honest review and all opinions are my own.

I love journaling... so when I saw this devotional journal, I was really excited!
Each day you have a portion of scripture to read, a devotion, and thoughtful journal prompts to write. Recently starting a prayer journal of my own, I found this really helpful and fun!
The designing is also really pretty and detailed which I really loved.
The devotions are short but thought- provoking and inspiring. They take little time to read but give you inspiration to start or end your day.
Overall, I would recommend this to all women and young women as well, especially if you enjoy journaling! It comes out October 6.

I truly loved the "God Hears Her" devotional, so this journal couldn't have been more exciting for me! Feminine, motivational and simply beautiful, this journal has really helped me to reflect on a Bible verse every day.
Packed with a well-chosen array of Bible verses, their analysis and challenging journal prompts, this journal is a wonderful gift you can give to yourself as a Christian. As someone who always starts a journal but never keeps up with it, the 40-day structure is great for creating a habit that I can stick with.
Finally, VERY importantly, just like in the original devotional, I fell in love with the design and graphics in this journal. Isn't it so much more exciting to read and write in a book that feels like art? With the floral designs, elegant fonts and a new layout on every new page, I was actually excited to turn the pages. And for this reason, I think this book would simply make an excellent present for a Christian at any age.
*Thank you to the Publisher for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I took seven days to read and decide whether it would be worth continuing on this 40-day journey. I LOVED it! I loved the basic format or having the scriptures there for you along with the devotional so that you only have to worry about grabbing one book on those busy mornings. What was different for me was the activities and journaling. In one instance, you are asked to imagine yourself in the scripture, this is something that I learned from another author that I found beneficial and was glad to see included in this devotional. The personal connection stories allow you to see how your own story can connect and they ask you to do just that. Finally, there is a space to journal and write a prayer. This devotional is not meant to be a deep dive into scripture. If you are a busy mom or professional you will appreciate that you can probably complete this devotional in 15 minutes or less. If I had to state something I disliked I would have liked for a larger journaling/prayer space, maybe one page for each as I am a bit of a writer, but this can be easily rectified by journaling elsewhere if needed. This is a must-buy for 40 days of growing in not just your knowledge of Christ but your knowledge of who you are in Christ.
I would like to thank the Publisher and Authors for providing me a copy of this devotional on NetGalley in return for my honest opinion.
