I found I couldn't put this down. I wanted to figure out who killed the family.
The writing drew me in.
I will say at times it felt a little over complicated but everything tied together pretty well by the end.
I didnt see the main reveal coming. I'm not sure how I feel about it. On one hand it kind of made sense in a way but was also slightly annoying his reason for his behaviour towards helping Danny despite knowing the truth.
I liked that we got to see the families POV in the build up to their murders. We got to discover what they discovered but also their final thoughts.
The documentary transcripts didn't really add much to the story for me.
This is a book filled with mystery wrapped up in lies.

Alex Finlay has quickly become an auto-buy for me! I had previously read The Night Shift and loved and this book was no exception. The story is faced-paced and hooks you from the first page and keeps you turning until the mind-blowing end!

Very good book! Well written and the characters were very well rounded. Thanks for the chance to read this book.

Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this title.
After loving the newer release by this author I remembered this one sitting on my kindle. It did disappoint and I am really looking forward to more from Finlay.

I love everything about this author and book. His writing style is so fast paced that it keeps you dialed in. Utterly unable to not turn to the next page. I was constantly making deals with myself, ten more pages then... it didn’t work. I had to know. I highly recommend and for a debut. I’m stunned.

This book was an edge of my seat thriller. I love Alex's writing and this author is an autobuy thriller author when I need a palate cleanser from all of the romance.

I read this after reading The Night Shift. I did it backwards. I didn't realize that our FBI agent Sara Keller was in both books. I do love that this went forward in time and she was already a mother to her twins. So maybe I wasn't as backwards after all!
I loved how this book had the back and forth between characters like The Night Shift. You got to see all sides of the story. It was a heartbreaking story to say the least. How do you deal with your whole family being dead at once? Matt is already torn because of believing his brother Danny is actually guilty of the murder he was convicted of years before. Now, it seems the death of his family has something to do with that. I love how it all played out.

I'd recommend this book to fans of the suspense/mystery genre, especially if you‘ve taken an interest in true crime. This was a fun, quick read. The book is told from several different viewpoints and timelines

A slow start.... to bring you into a freakin' whirlwind of twisted minds and an impeccably told story! An edge-of-your-seat, page turning, steadily guessing story that I will be recommending for a long time! I cannot believe it took me this long to pick this one up!

A huge thank you to NetGalley, Alex Finlay and Minotaur Books for providing me with an eARC of this publication which allows me to provide you with an unbiased review.

Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced copy of Every Last Fear.
Imagine being a college student and finding out that your entire family (minus your brother who is in prison for murder) has been found dead in Mexico. The Mexican authorities say it was an accident, the US authorities think differently. We find out what happens slowly as Matt comes to terms with his families' past and loss.
I enjoyed this book but I felt like it definitely dragged in places. Finlay weaves a good tale but is entirely too detailed in moments and it slows the book down. I also predicted the ending although there was a twist I didn't see coming. Good mystery, not so much a thriller, easy read.

Thanks to NetGalley I found a new author I like! I love when this happens. This book was intriguing and kept me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what happened and guessing what happened. I really enjoyed the perspectives of multiple characters throughout and how it unfolded in real time as well as several months back and the timeline kept shifting to try and give the reader a little peak into what happened as you tried to figure it out alongside the detective. Really well written. I'll definitely be checking out more of Alex Finlay's books.

This book has a lot going on, and pulls you in from the very beginning. Four members of the Pine family are found dead while on vacation in Mexico. The only remaining members of the family are Matt and Danny. Danny is in prison for killing his teenage girlfriend. Matt has been estranged from his brother ever since, but their father never stopped trying to prove Danny's innocence. As Matt prepares to go to Mexico to claim his family's bodies, the Mexican police say there was no foul play, but the FBI thinks differently. Could their deaths have anything to do with trying to get Danny out of jail?
This was a page turner from start to finish. A great story with even better developed characters. I definitely recommend, and will be lookig for more from this author.

Had me on my toes from the first page. Clever, dark and surprising. Great read. From the onset, it seems as though you know what's happening and who killed the family of 3. Like most great mystery novels, you quickly find out that you're wrong. I loved the suspense and the character building. Can't wait to read Finlay's next book!

I had high hopes for this book based on the premise. The plot moved at a decent pace and kept me engaged, but unfortunately the ending felt a bit to rushed for me. I also had some concerns regarding the way Mexico and Mexican people were portrayed in the first half of the story. It felt unnecessary.
After seeing this book everywhere, unfortunately it did not live up to some of the hype I had seen.

You can’t go wrong with any Alex Finlay book! And this was no exception! Love love loved this! Hooked me from page one.

This book alternates between the present, when Matt Pine is dealing with the death of his entire family (minus his brother who is in prison for murder), and the recent past events leading up to the family's deaths. This made it feel more sad than thrilling for me, just utterly tragic and wasteful. I suppose I should expect more pathos given how much I like books about murder, but this one just didn't strike quite the right note with me--I just really wanted the family to live! I did enjoy the present scenes with Matt and Agent Keller. Mostly unsurprising reveal, but overall an engaging read and I would check this author out again.

Every Last Fear by Alex Finlay is a great book that really pulled me in. There were so many twists and turns, and what might have seemed apparent at first, turned out completely differently. Highly recommend.

Non stop action in this psychological thriller. When a family once made infamous by a true crime documentary is found dead, everything starts to unravel as the sole surviving son is left to uncover the truth about his family’s final days.

Once I got into the story about halfway through, I started to enjoy it more than the beginning. I just think there was too much going on to keep up with at times because of all the different characters trying to figure out who killed who. However, I am excited to read more from this author because I do see the potential and think the writing itself was pretty good. Thank you for the chance to read and review this book.

What a compelling and heartbreaking book. I thought the use of multiple perspectives was very well done - while Matt and (Agent) Sarah Keller were the main characters in the current timeline, I appreciated getting to know each of the Pines "before", understanding their motivations and how things ended up this way. Of course, this made their deaths (introduced at the beginning of the book) even more painful. It's not often that a thriller has me tearing up, but this book did. Some of the twists were a bit predictable (at least to me), but that didn't take away from any of the intrigue as there was still plenty keeping me interested.
