This is a entertaining new series. The mystery is interesting and well-plotted with plenty of twists, turns, and surprises. The characters are a quirky, likable mother/daughter duo. I am looking forward to reading more.

All thoughts and opinions are my own, and in no way have I been influenced by anyone.

As I started reading this, I honestly wasn't sure I would like it because it was different from your normal cozy. There is a mother/daughter team working together to solve the murder that occurs in the town, but I ended up really enjoying the mother/daughter dynamic.

Great story, great characters, and a great setting + a kitty cat :)

4.5 stars.

I voluntarily reviewed this on Netgalley.

An excellent first book in the series! I love cozies, but cozies with older female leads are my favorite!
I loved reading this, and can't wait to read the next one!

I don't know I took so long to read this because I absolutely loved this book. I loved Lia Geiger and how she was with her daughter Hayley. It remined me of the relationship I have with my mom and I did enjoy reading about it. Don't get me started how her knitting club and how much I enjoyed their friendship. I didn't guess at all who the killer was or any of the twist which that made me enjoy the book even more. I have already told my mom she really needs to pick up the book ASAP. I want to thank Netgalley and Berkley Publishing Group for letting me read and review the book. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

A Wicked Yarn by Emmie Caldwell is the first book in the Craft Fair Knitters Mystery series. Lia is looking forward to the Crandalsburg Craft Fair where she sells items that she and her fellow knitters create. It looks like the craft fair may be coming to an end when the barn where it is held comes up for sale. When the potential buyer is found murdered, Lia sets out to solve the mystery and clear her friend's name. I absolutely loved the craft fair setting and the fiber art theme. The mystery was rather weak as I picked out the murderer early on although the why was not clear until the end. I enjoyed this first book overall and look forward to the next.

In this new series from Emmie Caldwell/Mary Ellen Hughes, “A Craft Fair Knitters Mystery,” the first book is a wonderful start to a new type of crafting cozy. A Wicked Yarn is filled with new characters, many of whom readers will love instantly, others they may not take to as easily. The small-town atmosphere is delightful, and the knitting crew is what most of us imagine it would be like to be a part of this type of group. Add in a craft fair and you have a winner.

Lia is not usually an amateur sleuth; she actually knows nothing about tracking down a killer. But she jumps in when her best friend is the prime suspect in the murder of her ex-husband. There are quite a few suspects and motives to keep track of, so readers will need to keep on their toes. The murderer is not caught easily, it takes everything Lia and her knitting group has to find the evidence and keep a killer from escaping justice.

This book is an excellent start in this series. Readers will enjoy the interaction between Lia and her daughter and the knitting crew. The scenery is picturesque with enough detail to make you want to spend a few hours roaming through the quaint little town. A Wicked Yarn is the first book in a new series, so there is a lot of setup and introductions; for some readers, this can be a turnoff, but in order to get to the good stuff, and for future books, it is necessary. Overall, however, I found the characters likable, the setting soothing, and the mystery believable. I look forward to the next book in this series.

A Wicked Yarn by Emmie Caldwell

A killer may craft the perfect crime, but as every knitter worth her yarn knows —. Murder wool out.
This was a well-written, light cozy mystery. Enjoyed reading about the Craft Fare and the Knitters’ Club. I recommend this book.

Thanks to Net Galley for sending me an advanced reader’s copy for my review.

Princess Fuzzypants here: Since her husband’s death Lia has been making a new life in a new home. Her knitting and running a craft booth to sell the work of her Ninth Street Knitters group has helped her settle in. But the lovely world of the Craft Fair may come crashing down if the new owner of the barn where it is held has his way. He wants to tear it down. The fact that his much hated ex-wife runs the barn has everything to do with his decision.

Naturally, when he is murdered in said barn, his ex, Belinda, is the prime suspect. Even though there is no proof and Belinda has an alibi, the rumours and innuendos threaten the survival of the place. Then when another, rather testy, artist is also murdered, it looks like the killer may not be done yet. Both victims had plenty of people from whom to choose with a motive to kill them but it turns out the villain has an unusual reason that only Lia is able to discover.

It leads to a series of lies and delusions that will keep the reader engrossed as Lia unravels the threads. But will her investigation lead to disaster for Lia and those closest to her. The book has an exciting conclusion with lots of potential for further adventures. It also has an wonderful Rag Doll kitty named Daphne. I am looking forward to seeing where Daphne and her humans go from here.

Five purrs and two paws up.

A sweet crafty cozy mystery. These tend to be my comfort reads when it comes to cozy mysteries and this one was no different. I finished it in a day and enjoyed it. I look forward to the next book in the series. As well as other books by this author.

When Lia loses her husband she relocates to a small town in Pennsylvania. She starts a small knitting co=op group where she rents a space at the local craft fair selling the items she and her fellow knitting group make. While manning her booth on Mother's day weekend she overhears her best friend and craft fair owner arguing with a person looking to buy the property and rip down the barn that houses the events run there. Tensions run high as the vendors worry about finding a new location to sell their wares.

The next morning Lia arrives on sight to find her best friend and fair manager, Brenda standing over the body of the man who wanted to buy the property. She does not believe that Brenda is a murderer and is determined to find the criminal.

As a side plot her daughter Hayley has come home on extended leave from her job to reevaluate where she wants her career to go,. While she is there she is more than willing to help solve the murder. It is a well constructed with enough twists that you have to work to find the culprit.
