The war to end all wars is finished with the deaths of the two most monstrous Archangels, Lijuan and Charisemnon, who filled the world with death and disease; however, the battles against their terrible legacy remain far from over. Titus, now the Archangel of all Africa, needs help fighting the abominations known as the Reborn which his enemies left behind as a grim reminder of their depravity. Bad enough they exist, these newer ones seem to have become even more horrific and have evolved newer strategies to survive. The Lady Sharine, known as The Hummingbird, revered and beloved by angelkind, has spent centuries locked in her own mind after a devastating event sending her into a mental tailspin. She has been emerging out of that long psychological fog while helping to heal others at Lumia: the angel repository of art and all things they hold sacred, beautiful, and unique.

Sharine may be considered an Ancient because of her great age; however, she has only recently begun to truly live life again doing so without the weight of millennia that normally affects very old angels. Formerly existing as if she has been in the angel state known as a Sleep and now, newly revived and awakened, Sharine is determined to live a full life again. When Sharine agrees to assist the big, bold, and brassy, Archangel Titus, she must prove to everyone in his Court and other angels that she is no longer a fragile, out of touch, delicate little bird who must be cossetted and protected. Titus is at first stunned that the Cadre would send him not only the most cherished of their race, but an angel who is the very opposite of the warrior he desperately needs.

Sharine quickly proves her determination to be an asset rather than an albatross for Titus and his people. Old skills she had long forgotten are awakening so that Sharine’s power comes quite importantly into play helping Titus root out and destroy the remaining deadly menaces. Charisemnon had been secretly experimenting which raised the bar on his malevolent hubris making Titus’s job even harder. All the Archangels remaining have an exhausting and difficult task trying to put their planet back together after so much destruction and devastation with the territories still in turmoil. Sharine has a lot to deal with after coming back to herself realizing all she has missed including being a true parent to Illium, and the issues which caused her mental fracture in the first place. Readers of the series know Illum’s father, Agaegon, was a major contributor; however, much more is revealed about the level of his callousness and narcissism as well as the reasons behind Sharine’s total disconnect from the world.

After what she suffered, Sharine feels done with romantic relationships having no time or inclination for them. Titus was quite content in his role of a fearsome warrior who yet enjoyed being a ladies’ man. To their mutual surprise, Titus and Sharine find much joy, laughter, and even love is still to be had in these dark and difficult times; an Archangel’s life can still be full of jubilant surprises. Ms. Singh continues to give her readers a story with great heart, humor, and some very intense moments adding new layers of depth to the Guild Hunter world. Fans will be well pleased at this very fine addition to the series that shows no hint of slowing down with so much more to say about these beloved and compelling characters.

Archangel’s Sun is the thirteenth book in Nalini Singh’s Guild Hunter series. This time Nalini Singh gives us the Hummingbird and Archangel Titus’s story. I’ve wanted to know more about the Hummingbird since she was introduced in the series. Here I thought she was only an artist; well, there’s more to the Hummingbird than readers thought initially.

Female Protagonist: Sharine, aka the Hummingbird, is known as the gentle, artistic Angel who has gone through a lot in her lifetime. She became lost to her grief after losing several important people in her life. A lot of her kind forget that’s she’s an Ancient and has seen a lot and used to be a fighter. If there is one thing I love about her character, she loves her son, Illium, and adores Aodhan. She’s what I would consider a mother to everyone. She may have been broken at one time, but there was another side of her in this book. I loved getting her back story and getting to see her grow in this book. Don’t underestimate the gentle Angel anymore.

Male Protagonist: Titus is the Archangel of Africa, and he’s known to being stubborn and loud. He’s a warrior and loves his people. He learned from the best underneath his mother, who was a General and Archangel Alexander. He’s known as a lady’s man, according to how Sharine describes him in the beginning. At first, I was wary about his character, but I did start to like him towards the middle and end. He is nothing like Raphael, but he does have some scary features to him.

Storyline: If you read Archangel’s War, then you would’ve read that Lijuan was defeated. Unfortunately, the Cadre is still dealing with the legacy of what the Archangel of Death and Archangel of Disease left behind. Titus’s territory was impacted the most with the Reborn since he lived close to the Archangel of Disease. Raphael sends the Hummingbird to help Titus with the Reborn because the rest of the Cadre are still dealing with their war issues. Titus is hesitant about having the Hummingbird help him. She’s known as an artist and not a warrior, but he’s going to find out he’s wrong about her. They also will discover that the Archangel of Disease left them a bigger surprise behind what they need to deal with in this book.

My Thoughts: I was excited to read this book because I had caught up with the series in October of 2020. I was ready to dive into the next book, even though I knew I would now have to wait for the next book in the series. This book gives readers the aftermath of the war. This book brought up a big issue to the Cadre that they were not expecting, which I thought it couldn’t get worst, but Nalini proved me wrong. She managed to throw in a twist. I loved getting to know the back story of both Titus and Sharine (aka the Hummingbird) and wanted them to have happiness with each other. They both deserved it. Readers beware, though, because this is what I would consider a slow-burn. These two did not like each other initially but end up getting to know each other better when they work together. Readers who love Bluebell and Aodhan will get some of them in this book. I need more, though. I need to know who they will end up with, and I need it now!! I’m glad to know that Sharine and Titus found each other, but I need Bluebell and Aodhan’s books.

Steaminess: Some Steam. (It comes closer toward the end of the book.)

Standalone or Part of Series: Part of Series.

HEA: Somewhat of a HEA. Some readers may have an issue with the ending.

Trope: This book had somewhat of a Slow Burn to it and Opposite’s Attract.

Would I recommend this book? Yes. Overall, this book gets ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (four stars) from me, and I would recommend it to readers of the PNR/UF genres. If you have read the previous books in the series, then you will enjoy this book; if you have not started this series, then I would recommend reading in order. You will miss out on a lot of stuff if you read from this book. I’m ready for the next book in the series. Nalini, please give us Aodhan or Bluebell’s book next. 🙂 Please! I <3 this series from Nalini Singh. If it weren’t for this series, I would never get out of my reading funk this year. I loved reading from the beginning to catch up on this series.

Nalini Singh never disappoints! Her Guild Hunter series continues to only get better, a feat I previously thought impossible. Archangel Titus and the Hummingbird may be her best, most complex main characters yet! I couldn’t recommend this book enough!

If you are a fan of the Guild Hunter books or just love angels, danger, intrigue, an Archangel who is unapologetically himself, and an angel who is coming into her own strength then you will want to read ARCHANGEL'S SUN!

I am a fan of the Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh and this next addition does not disappoint. I can only describe my reaction to this book as a wistful sigh with a bit of swooning thrown in.I actually felt the need to hug the book after I finished it! the overarching story regarding the horror of the reborn makes some advances, including a few discoveries. While this part of the plot seemed almost secondary to the journey of Sharine, I think it played a large part in showing the characters growth. She learns more about herself, her personal strength and discovers powers and abilities she had forgotten. For me the best part of this book was learning about the Hummingbird's past and getting to see her grow and strengthen as a character. Thrown into the mix is Titus. The banter between the two characters is fun and sexy. I laughed a few times and smiled until my cheeks hurt. Overall, I think this is probably ranked among my favorites in the series.

A huge thank you to Netgalley and Berkley Publishing for the ARC and the opportunity to read and review this amazing new edition to the Guild Hunter series.

Archangel's Sun is a wonderful addition to the Guild Hunter's series. This series is such a delight to read, its fun and fast paced , and this one is no exception. I really enjoyed finding out more about how the angel word is re-building and still reeling after dealing with the events in the pervious books. This book's focus is Archangel Titus the angel in charge of the continent of Africa, and the broken angel known as the Hummingbird. Fans of the series might remember both of these characters from previous novels, especially the Hummingbird as she is mother to the angel Illium. Since both of these characters are more of secondary characters in the previous novels, I enjoyed getting a chance to know them better and learn about their lives. I especially liked seeing the Hummingbird, or Sharine as she prefers to be known by now, grow and develop into a strong woman over the course of this book. And I enjoyed learning more about the events in her past that send her down into her mind, retreating from the world. There is also romance in the novel between Sharine and Titus, which was well developed and it was nice seeing the two of them realize their attraction, while both growing as individuals. I recommend this book to fans of the series, as well as those looking for a fun and easy read, as I feel like this one can stand on its own with out having read all of the books in the series.

The devastating archangelic wars are over and the evil archangels defeated, but the aftermath might be almost worse especially in Africa. Many angels and archangels were gravely injured and forced into sleep to heal. Those that are left have many more tasks to complete in order to rebuild than there are hands to complete them.

Africa was especially hard hit since it was the home of Charisemnon who left armies of reborn behind when he was defeated. Archangel Titus and his people bear the brunt of the cleanup because Titus is now the Archangel of all of Africa. He and his people are spending all of their time trying to clean out nests of reborn before they can infect those who remain.

The Cadre decides to send Lady Sharine, who was once known as the Hummingbird, to Africa to help him. The Hummingbird is a treasure among the angels. She is their greatest artist. But she spent centuries shattered in her mind and heart. In this story we find out why her mind and heart were shattered and see how she healed.

Titus is afraid that the Hummingbird will be more of a burden than a help. He doesn't have time to cater to a delicate angel who needs to be protected. Luckily, Lady Sharine isn't that angel anymore. But it takes time before Titus comes to see that.

This was a wonderful episode in the Guild Hunters series. I loved getting to know both Titus and Sharine and watching them fall in love. I also enjoyed the mystery aspects of the story as Titus and Sharine try to discover what Charisemnon's end game really was and how they can defeat his plans.

The story was emotionally intense and fast-paced. Fans of the series will enjoy this episode even though they don't get much of a chance to see other favorite characters from earlier books in the series.

I love Nalini, I love Guild Hunter, and I love this book. So recommended for everyone, even for new Nalini fans because I think the Hummingbird's story works well as a standalone.

Titus is the Archangel of Africa. He is dealing with the mess the Archangel of Death and the Archangel of Disease left behind. Titus cannot hide his displeasure when The Cadre sends him The Hummingbird for help against the reborn. However, Sharine is not the fragile angel he remembers but a sharp-tongued woman who enjoys needling him. Can Titus resist his attraction to Sharine? Will he risk angelkind’s censor to be with her? Can they find a weapon against the reborn?
Sharine is a renowned artist known as The Hummingbird. She oversees Lumia, an important repository of angelic art and treasures. The Cadre asks Sharine to assist Titus with the reborn threat. However, the charismatic archangel manages to get beneath her skin. They stumble upon the late Archangel of Disease’s secret gift. Can Sharine convince the world she is no longer the delicate angel they know? Will she be beneficial in finding a solution against the reborn?
It took me a while to warm up to Titus. I just never paid him much notice until this story. I like Titus’s relationship with his mother and older sisters. They are responsible for his healthy respect for women. I love how Titus empathizes with Sharine. After learning about her past, he commiserates with her, especially the ill treatment of a certain archangel. What I like the most about Titus is his treatment of the people in his domain. He does not expect to be venerated. Titus willingly rewards those who work hard.
Sharine is such an extraordinary angel with a huge heart. She not only cares for her son, but she also treats two other angels as surrogate sons. I admire Sharine’s courage and determination to reclaim her life. She no longer wants to hide inside her fractured mind. Instead, she wishes to explore the angel she was meant to be. What I like the most about Sharine is her ability to stand her ground against Titus. She refuses to be swayed or charmed by his charisma and pretty words. Sharine wound rather challenge him with her sharp tongue.
ARCHANGEL’S SUN is book thirteen in Nalini Singh’s popular paranormal romance series, GUILD HUNTER. It is necessary to read the prior books, especially book twelve, to understand the current situation in the storyline. My only complaint is that there were not enough scenes involving Illium or Aodhan. I adore those two angels.
ARCHANGEL’S SUN is a beautiful and touching tale of a woman’s determination to reclaim her life only to find love again. I wondered how Nalini Singh would give us another book in this series, and she did not disappoint. I am secretly hoping either Aodhan or Illium is next.

Any series that has the “Guild Hunter” name slapped onto it will be really loved and happily anticipated. I will say that I am still holding out for the world’s bluebell to have his story but I will take Titus story any day of the week. SO, jumping right into it this series is a long one and has many books that focus on other characters, such as Archangel’s Sun. That said it is really hard to jump into any of these books at this point and just pick them up for a good read. The world is so well built and widely amazing that one should really set down and read all….30ish books and novellas that make up this series at the moment. The story itself is a heartfelt one because many of the readers have been wanting Hummingbird to have a happily ever after story for herself and Titus, I believes, gives her that in many ways in this book. Ok wait, let me back up a few steps here and say this book is Hummingbird’s story not Titus because in truth the readers of the Guild Hunter series know and feel for her more then they know or feel for Titus. In truth this story felt a lot like Archangel's Enigma, which to me is more of a filler novel. The story is straight forward and the love is just there. The reason this book will be loved is because of Hummingbird.

Archangel’s Sun by Nalini Singh is the 13th book in her fantastic Guild Hunter series. Once again Nalini Singh continues to amaze us with another fantastic addition to this series. The last book was so intense, exciting and mindboggling from start to finish, and I thought perhaps Archangel’s Sun would be at a slower pace; but even though this book was not as epic, it was an amazing wonderful story that also kept the flow continue to be seamless.

With all the world affected, the Archangels are all working overtime to fight the horrific situations throughout. Titus, our hero, has taken over as the Archangel of Africa, where the evil now deceased Lijuan, created the horrible reborn (rotting creatures/crazed vampires). Titus has his hands full, with all of his angels and warriors struggling and working night and day to kill the reborn; as well as trying to stop the other deceased Archangel Charisemnon’s (Archangel of Disease) creations that could be even worse. To his surprise, Raphael sends help in the form of the infamous Hummingbird (Sharine); which he isn’t too pleased about, since she is a well-loved woman with gifts, but not someone who is able to help in this battle. Of course, he will be in for a big surprise
Sharine, our heroine, (Illium’s mom, as well as Aodhan’s adopted mom) has been helping run Lumia, but accepts Raphael’s decision to go to Africa. Sharine has spent many years slowly putting herself back together (recovering from her tragic fractured mind, and from a deep slumber), to rise up become what she was meant to be. I absolutely loved Sharine, her confidence, toughness, and her learning the powers she had fully forgotten about. She was such a delight, and it was so much fun to watch her early on stand up to Titus, and his shock at her behavior, as she was supposed to be a quiet gifted and fragile woman who people adored, not someone constantly answering him back.

Titus is a well-respected and fierce 3000 year warrior, who found himself after a rough beginning falling for the wonderful Sharine. I loved watching them together, as she managed to bring him down a peg or two, especially when their feelings for each other became apparent. Together they worked to find clues as to what Charisemnon was hiding, and we also got to see Sharine learn to use her powers to help Titus and his team.

Archangel's Sun was a wonderful, sweet, fun, romantic, as well as emotional story that made this into a fabulous addition to this series. Both Titus and Sharine were a fantastic couple that had us rooting for them from the start. As in just about every book I read from Nalini Singh, I could not put this book down. Though enough details are given through the book, I do suggest you read the previous book for cohesion. If you are new to the series, you should start where it all began. Bravo to Nalini for giving us a fantastic couple in Titus and Sharine. Nalini Singh is one of my top favorite authors, and if you are not reading her books, you need to start now.

The next in Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series is epic, romantic, and just a plain great read. Despite defeating the Archangels of Death and Disease, the remaining archangels still have to battle the reborn left behind. Archangel Titus and Sharine, better known as the Hummingbird, come together to investigate possible contamination of angels, something that's not supposed to happen.

Fantastic addition to a wonderful series. After the last book, wasn't sure where the story was going but this book has many threads that can be pulled in future books while being a great stand alone story too. Loved the interaction between the main characters; every time they spoke to each other I had a smile on my face, so funny and endearing. I love coming to this world!

Another addition to the Psych/Changeling series. We see Titus, the strong and powerful vulnerable and The Humming Bird, Ilium's mother not so vulnerable. They have to work together to clean the leftover mess of reburn and deal with the developing emotions for one another. These two together offer a powerful, steamy and humorous read. Nalini adds another layer to this world and to the characters that we have come to know and love.

I did read this back to back with the previous book, Archangel's War, so that might cloud my review. From what I understand, Singh had originally planned to end with "War" but was encouraged by fans to continue? I believe she should have stuck to her original plan.

There was so much filler in this story. The plot is very much in the background as most of the action happened in the previous book. The Hummingbird was finally given a backstory as to her "fragileness" and then coming back to life, which was interesting. I feel like missed opportunity was Titus - especially with his family. The few scenes with his sisters made me desperate for more - and it was only 2 of the 3 of them. The romance was pretty tame compared to previous couples. Overall, it was just meh for me.

I’ll be reviewing this book for a publication. In the meantime, a few thoughts.

In the 13th fantasy in the Guild Hunter’s series after Archangel’s War., Lady Sharine comes to the aid of the Titus, Archangel of Africa as he attempts to rid his territory of the reborn in the aftermath of war that more than decimated the population. They’re also mending relationships with the mortals in the terrritory after the destruction wrought by his neighbor and deadly rival CHARISEMNON. Beyond the plague he wrought, Charisemnon was a corrupt and exploitative leader and the people are traumatized. In helping others, the formerly fractured and fragile artist comes into her own again. And the two come to adore and burn for each other.

Things to note:
Titus is an Alpha not an alphahole.. He understands his feelings, respects women, and knows how to nurture. It’s lovely.
After a while, there’s a sameness to it. Much of the action is just Sharine and Titus surveying the ruins of  war and fighting the reborn as need arises.

Sharine speaks to herself with care. Challenging but not harsh. It’s lovely to see. One of my favorite passages:

Sharine didn’t want forever, wasn’t sure she’d ever again be in a place where she could trust enough to offer her heart. On the flip side, however, she also wasn’t sure she was built for quick dalliances. How do you know? asked the part of her that had been getting more and more mouthy of late. It’s not as if you’ve ever tried it. Take a risk, dance with Titus. You’re tough enough now to pick up the pieces—if there are any pieces to pick up in the first place. You’re not who you once were, Sharine. Take the risk. (Loc 3309)

After 13 books, I still feel enthralled by each and every single book of the Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh.
Seriously each and every single one!!!

This one follows the infamous Hummingbird, treasured artist of angelkind, mother of Illium, one of Raphael's seven and Titus, Archangel of Africa, warrior with a booming voice.
I sure wasn't prepared for Archangel's Sun to be so cute and hilarious and yet deep and touching at times. I can't recommend this book enough, and by god my new girl crush is Sharine! Sweet innocent Sharine, or so she'll make you think ;)

Congratulations to Mrs Singh for what I'm certain will be another great success! You never cease to amaze me by widening the Guild Hunter world!

This book is a fantastic continuation of the Guild Hunter series. I was curious what direction this book would take after that epic battle of Archangel’s War and it turned out to be a mix of continued tragedy and vestiges of war mixed with the bright hope of the future.

Sharine as a character and a woman is incredible. Throughout the series, we have seen her as a broken angel who is treated as fragile glass. But in this book we see her emerge from the cage her mind trapped her in and come into her own strength as an angel, a woman, a warrior, a mother, and a lover. I was cheering for her so hard! And to see her go toe to toe with Titus, the great archangel warrior, clearly highlighted how much strength the Hummingbird truly has.

Titus is magnificent. He has a tremendous heart, caring for all his people and valuing each of their contributions. While Sharine knocked him back on his butt countless times in this book, he was willing to adapt, grow, and find ways to make the most of a situation in the best way possible. This story is a slow burn and it was so rewarding watching both of these reluctant angels fall in love.

For someone who has been in a rut due to everything happening to the world in 2020, this book was exactly what I needed. Nalini Singh is a master of her art form and truly transports you into the story. I loved this story dearly and can’t wait to read more!

This series has been an auto-buy for me since the beginning and I'm so happy it's continuing! I would still recommend picking up the earlier Guild Hunter books first to new readers, but Archangel's Sun was a welcome addition to a world I wasn't ready to leave behind. In light of current events, I found the emphasis on rebuilding and healing from the past--both physically in the aftermath of war, and in the heroine's journey to recover from the trauma of her past and become a strong, engaged, loving woman again--especially satisfying. (Even if it means living in world where the entire human race is ruled by a dictatorship of only sometimes benevolent immortals, the escapist fantasy of benevolent gods responsibly taking care of their dependents is appealing right now for obvious reasons.) The honesty and straightforwardness of Titus and Sharine's relationship, and them as characters, was really enjoyable as well. While I hope there will be at least one more book with Raphael and Elena as the main characters at some point, Titus and Sharine's story felt like it flew by and I would love to revisit them in the future as well.

I’ve often wondered about the Hummingbird and what her back story was as well as Titus. Archangel’s Sun by Nalini Singh answers so many of these questions. Hummingbird has overcome so much and it was interesting to see her come into her own in a situation that many people involved didn’t think she would be successful because of her fractured psyche. Throughout the book she come into her own and then Titus begins to see her worth. They are battling the reborn in Africa that was left over from the Archangel’s of Death and of Disease. How will the Hummingbird prove her worth? Well, to find out read this excellent addition to The Guild Hunter’s Series. You will not be disappointed.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this story for an honest opinion.
