The Wedding Date Disaster by Avery Flynn is a contemporary romance. Hadley cannot believe she has to go home to Nebraska for her sister’s wedding. She wants a wingman and a whole lot of vodka for this level of family interaction. Her bestie Web agreed he’d man up and help. Too bad he had to catch a different flight, then his plane got delayed, and finally (because bad things always happen in threes) instead of my best friend, his evil twin strolls out of the airport. If you looked up doesn’t-deserve-to-be-that-confident, way-too-hot-for-his-own-good billionaire in the dictionary, you’d find a picture of Will Holt. He’s awful. Horrible. The worst—even if his butt looks phenomenal in those jeans. Ten times worse? My buffer was supposed to be there to keep me away from the million and one family events. But Satan’s spawn just grins and signs us up for every. Single. Thing. Fine. “Cutthroat” Scrabble? I’m in. I can’t wait to take this guy down a notch. But somewhere between Pictionary and the teasing glint in his eyes, our bickering starts to feel like more than just a game.
The Wedding Date Disaster is an enjoyable read with a good number of moments that made me cringe for the characters- in the very best way. Hadley is a planner in the charity circuit, and while she loves her job she does not love the way she is treated. She wants to branch out and start her own business, as soon as money is no longer an issue, but that does not seem in the near future. Her best friend Web, and his twin brother Will, have plenty of money- but Had wants to stand on her own two feet. Sadly, Will has decided that she is a gold digger- and thus the explosive animosity blooms. I loved wanting Hadley and Will both fight the attraction and cling to the animosity they have in order to protect their own hearts. This made the relationship feel like a slow burn, even though the heart of the book takes place in a single week. I also liked that we got the perspectives from both Will and Hadley, it allowed me to have a much fuller picture of how everyone was feeling, and what mistake was coming to throw a wrench in the works. I thought that while the majority of the book was fairly light, the moments that touched on the painful pasts they both had help to make them both more understandable in their fears and coping mechanisms. I just made them more real to me. I also greatly enjoyed the secondary characters, and hope to read more about Hadley's family and Web at some point in the future.
The Wedding Date Disaster is a fun enemies to lovers romance with heat and heart. Fans of the author and plenty of "we really shouldn't/ this is a bad idea" will especially enjoy the read.
I LOVED this! Oh my goodness. What an absolute treat to read. This was sweet, sexy, and very fun. I very much look forward to the next book by Avery Flynn!
This was a great enemies to lovers romance. The push and pull between Hadley and Will was fun and frustrating and sexy. Will thought Hadley was trying to get his twin brother Web’s money. So Will did everything in his power to hate Hadley. Hadley was going to her sister’s wedding and Web was her plus one. But at the airport, Will appeared, not Web. It was too late for Hadley to back out so she begrudgingly went to her family’s farm with Will. Their constant bickering turned into more. They were hot together until it wasn’t. I loved this story. I loved Hadley’s family. This was a cute romance that you can’t go wrong with.
From the blurb, I was quite excited for this enemies-to-lovers romcom story with a small-town ranch setup and a billionaire hero. But I was quite disappointed at the execution and the characters that I couldn’t give it a perfect rating 😔...
Growing up in a small town, Hadley Donavan moves to a big city, working hard towards her goal of opening her own charitable-giving consulting firm. She’s become best friends with Web Holt, who promises to accompany her back home pretending to be her boyfriend at her sister’s wedding. However, the person showing up at the airport is none other than his identical twin brother Will Holt, CEO of the multi-billion Holt Enterprises and her nemesis!
After being deceived by his ex-fiancée, Will is cynical and suspicious at everyone, assuming the worst in them and that they are after the Holt brothers for their money. Never believing in their friendship, Will sets out to prevent Web from falling for Hadley, calling her a gold digger and fortune hunter. As much as they hate each other, they couldn’t deny their physical attraction and the sparks between them...
I just feel that the romance development is not quite convincing. Up until 60% of the book, Will still thinks of Hadley as a gold digger who targets his easygoing brother, and then towards the end, due to some misunderstandings, targets Will himself! And heartbroken as she is, Hadley just takes him back when he asks her for another chance after he realizes how wrong he has been about her 🤦🏻♀️! The bottom line is, I think Will is just a jerk 😂, and I wish to see him grovel much harder!
Another point that is rather annoying to me is the overuse of super long hyphenated adjectives, to the point of if-I-see-it-one-more-time-I-will-snap kind of frustration 🤣! It does get better towards the end, but it is pretty much in every other paragraph in the beginning. It somewhat takes away my enjoyment, but it’s just my personal feeling 🙈.
If you don’t mind all these and are looking for a light, quick read, with hot sexy times and country cowboy vibes, this book is for you!
3.5⭐️-read for me!

Fun and sexy

I love Avery Flynn. And I love an enemies to lovers romance - especially where the couple genuinely appear to hate each other at the start of our story. So I was as happy as a pig in mud with this story.
At first I wasn’t sure what to make of our heroine, Hadley. I’m not fond of the name - but that’s because it’s the surname of someone I’m none too fond of…but it was hard to decide what she was really like and what her motives were. Much the same as Will felt, then. But she definitely grew on me as a character - especially as she relaxed into herself and then opened up more and more. Plus, she was feisty. And when she realised where she and Will stood, she knew her own worth and what she deserved.
Will was the perfect kind of grumpy hero - as well as being hot and rich! He really doesn’t like Hadley. Or does he? I’m not even sure he knows. But he does know that he wants her. He’s strong, stubborn and also ridiculously clueless at times. His big scene to win over Hadley was so off the mark that I felt like hitting my head off a brick wall. But fear not, where there are coat closets, there’s always a happily ever after!
While you’re all but guaranteed sizzling chemistry with enemies turning into lovers, the sex scenes were especially hot with this story. Ms Flynn knows how to get things done! The mirror? Holy cannoli that was hotter than hot! I was worried it would be a one and done - but we got even more, so I was plenty happy.
But Hadley and Will also shone in the quiet moments, too. They definitely had a connection and I loved seeing their feelings change and develop. Seeing them laugh together and become so much more with and for each other. Gah! This book left me with a huge smile on my face and it was so what I needed.
This was a delightfully hot and sexy read from Ms Flynn. She always delivers and does so again with this offering. I’m hoping we get to read Will’s twin, Web’s, story - and hopefully get to meet Hadley and Will again, hopefully still bickering hard and loving harder. Lots of fun and very recommended. 5 stars.
The Wedding Date Disaster by Avery Flynn was a fun, quick, enemies-to-lovers romance. It just fell short for me in regards to Hadley’s love interest, Will.
In The Wedding Date Disaster, Hadley is depending on her best friend, Web, to accompany her on her trip back home for her sister’s wedding and posing as her boyfriend. The goal is for him to help her get through the festivities with her family. Instead, however, Web’s twin brother and her enemy, Will, arrives. On the flip side, Will is stepping in for Web in an attempt to convince Hadley, whom he thinks is a gold digger, to stay away from his brother.
The Wedding Date Disaster proved to be funny, and it was mainly because of Hadley’s family. Her family is a mix of outgoing characters, and the banter between them all was fun. I also enjoyed reading about Will, someone that grew up in a wealthy family, trying to fit in on the ranch. The antics that Hadley and her family put him through as he tried to prove to Hadley that he could be a cowboy was hilarious.
As the story progressed, I was easily able to sympathize with Hadley. The presence of her family presented a lot of opportunities to dig into her background and see her motivations for all of her actions. Will, on the other hand, was a character I had a lot of difficulties sympathizing with. I think if I was presented with more background on Will or had more scenes with Will, Web, and Hadley together, I may have understood him better. As it stands, however, Will mostly ended up annoying me as the story progressed. So while Hadley grew, I thought Will mostly stayed consistent.
Overall The Wedding Date Disaster by Avery Flynn was a fun, quick read. Will wasn’t my favorite, but Hadley and her family made it worth the read. If you enjoy enemies-to-lovers romances, I’d recommend checking this out.
Wow! What a fun book! I loved the chemistry between Will and Hadley! Their animosity and attraction sizzled through the pages. There were so many scenes that I either smiled or laughed out loud at their sarcasm, one ups, set ups, innuendos, and witty banter. Each could hold their own with the other, not necessarily in a mean way, but it was fun to read. My heart warmed and delighted in Hadley's family interactions. They just drew you in and made you want to be a part of them. I loved this story even when my heart broke at the judgments and insinuations. I would have loved more of their future because this couple and their families are highly entertaining.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher through Netgalley.
The Wedding Date Disaster by Avery Flynn was a fun and charming enemies to lovers romance. Hadley’s family thinks she is living her best life and she does not want them to know the truth. The answer? Her best friend to the rescue as her fake boyfriend. Nothing can go wrong, right? But imagine her surprise when it’s not her best friend who joins her, but his very evil twin Will. He does not like her, so how will this go? I had so much reading Hadley and Will’s story. I loved their back and forth banter and just laughed so much. I truly enjoyed this story and highly recommend it.
Happy reading!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed the banter between the main characters in this book. It felt very real and was very entertaining. The supporting characters added a lot of dimension to the book. The pace of the book was good, although it did drag a tiny bit towards the end. I always seem to enjoy stories with twins and enemies to lovers so this was right up my alley.
This was so fun! I enjoy forced wedding date tropes and this was such a light and easy read. Hadley was authentic and Will was a jerk until he wasn’t and I enjoyed escaping into their story.
Love a hilarious rom-com mixed in with a huge nosy family? I laughed until I cried! Game Night was hilarious, and Paw Paw is a hoot! This is Avery Flynn at her best!
Thank you to Entangled Publishing and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this ebook.
A fun, flirty, and sexy story that I couldn't get enough of. The tension between Hadley and Will was palpable but so was their chemistry. Even when they were bickering, I could sense they were about to snap any minute. I loved it! I loved the family dynamics and the shenanigans Will signed them up for and through it all, they actually got to know each other better. One fun, amazing read.
Thank you NetGalley for providing me with this ARC; I voluntarily read and reviewed. Every single word is my opinion and thought. Okay, after this, I want to say, how much I love reading this book. OMG! the chemistry between those two! Hadley and Will...I have to be honest, I disliked, kinda hate Will at the begining. What is wrong with him calling her "gold digger"? I know he doesn't trust her BUT calling her names! Really?! ...
Okay okay, continuing with my review, after hating Will for a while, I started falling in love with him, little by little until I had not other option to make him my book boyfriend, lol. Enemies to lovers was well written, the plot gave us a place to hate him, then to almost propose to Will. Hadley and Will's forced to be together is HILARIOUS! I enjoyed it. I really loved Will, but if there's something I didn't like about him, it's the continuos bad thinking about Hadley, I actually call him "as***le" SEVERAL times, because I felt bad for Hadley, I relate/connected with her because I also wanted to leave my hometown at some point of my life. I'm giving it 4 stars because of Will', lol, also because of the book being in 3rd person, I just can't get use to this format. It was confusing and hard to read FOR ME. I stopped reading it then continued till I finished reading that beautiful epilogue.
If you want a refreshing, easy to read book, with a wonderful epilogue, and a great HEA, The Wedding Date Disaster is for you, and your friends. Thank you Avery for giving us this incredible story!
One of the best enemies to lovers romances. Web and Will have a difference of opinion when it comes to Hadley, Web’s best friend. Will thinks she’s a gold digger, past experience and family have caused him to assume. A crazy adventure on the way to her sister’s wedding has the two bonding, just a bit. Will and her family get along famously and he gets to have family time he’s never had. It’s the family that steal the story, brothers and PawPaw know how to stress Will out and it’s hysterical. A great read with classic Flynn sarcasm and banter. Netgalley provided an early copy and I wrote the review voluntarily.
This was a great enemies to lovers book. I love Avery Flynn books and the chemistry her characters have and this book was no different. When Hadley's best friend Web decides to play the ultimate prank on her chaos ensures! Web and his twin brother switch places and Will ends up being Hadley's date for a wedding. Did I mention Will thinks Hadley is only friends with Web for his money??? This was such a cute and fun romp. Thank you entangled publishing for the book to read and review.
There are plenty of laughs to be had in this book, not just because of the friction, tension and attraction between Hadley and Will but also with Hadleys family and Wills brother Web. Hadley and Will loath each other but are now stuck with other for a week due to ......well you need to read it and find out. during their time together we get to meet Hadleys crazy family with PawPaw being my absolute fave and they also start to get to really know each other with plenty a surprise coming out like the more than one reason Will hates Hadley. You will laugh loads, get frustrated, want to shake sense into Will and keep turning the page hoping that they can both see what a great match they are for each other!!
I seriously LOVED Hadley & Will’s story!
Enemies to lovers with plenty of genuine LOL moments, great dialogue, awesome group of supporting characters PLUS fantastic chemistry and enough feels to have me hooked from the beginning.
Great Enemy to lovers' story!
I really liked the character of Hadley. She was fun, smart, kind, sassy, and loyal to those that she loves. I understood her love of her family even if they drove her crazy. She stayed true to herself this whole book and didn't get all pissy when she first found out how Will thought of her.
Will was a great character. He was a guy that you really liked in his charming ways but he also made you want to throat punch him. He was so sure Hadley was just like his ex that he self-sabotaged everything.
I loved the banter between these two. I also liked Will meeting the family and seeing what a close family was like.
The Wedding Date Disaster was a laugh out loud funny read that kept me entertained all the way through the book. Hadley and Will have some crazy chemistry working even as they try to convince themselves that they hate each other. When they finally put their defenses down and enjoy each other things really get interesting. For a light entertaining read this is the book for you. I highly recommend it.
Avery is definitely an author that I can pick up and know it's going to be a great read. She has a way of connecting hilarious moments, with a bit of angst, and tops it with some amazingly developed characters.
Hadley is unsure of her place in life's he came from rural Nebraska, but has always had big city dreams. With a bit of determination and work, she lands in the big city; but quickly finds that luck is not on her side and time after time is put into positions that she can't find her way out of. This includes her relationship with her best friend, Web. It's not Web that has any issues with Hadley, but his twin brother, Will.
Will is an arrogant (but also gorgeous) man that is willing to bet his fortune on Hadley's gold-digger ways. He is certain she is out to take his brother for all he has (and he knows first-hand just how his brother will pan out if he loses his mind for a woman like Hadley). He also makes no point in showing his distaste for Hadley.
Unforeseen circumstances land them at one another's mercy, though, when Hadley is forced to return to her hometown without a job or date; even though her family is banking on having an ultra-successful Hadley coming home. Will takes his chance at being stuck with Hadley and her family in order to prove to Will that she is just after his money.
Avery not only allows humor and witty scenes to showcase through her writing; but she takes moments to show the characters vulnerabilities and uncertainties in order to make them more realistic and relatable. This book as no exception. The characters definitely had to grow and learn and find forgiveness in a lot of ways. In the end, we find softening of hearts and bursting of egos so that Hadley and Will find common ground on how to exist in the same universe (and especially in the same room).
Such a fun read! Thank you Avery for sharing this with me, I so enjoyed it :)
