Thanks verbally for allowing me to read This book. Charlene owns a her and breakfast in Salem. This book kept me guessing from start to finish. This book was well written.
I have not read any of the previous books in this series, but now I want to! I loved Jack the ghost and his behaviors when Charlene's parents visit. It made me want my own sexy ghost friend, lol.
The main character Charlene has a huge heart which is perfect for this Christmas-time setting.
A very fun and enjoyable cozy mystery! Thank you so much to NetGalley and Kensington Publishing for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Enjoyed reading this copy from Netgalley, I Love jack the ghost and his antics when Charlene's parents visit. Charlene and her parents are at a charity event when the host whom seems more like scrooge as the night goes on, ends up being a victim of a hit and run. With the mystery surrounding his death and the fall out of his benefits not coming through for the charity among other things he promised , Charlene will do her best to set things right cause she has a huge heart and help find the murderer . Love this series , great characters , fun stories , love the bits of information of Salem , witches and the things the town does to honor its namesake.
This is the 3rd installment in the Salem B&B series and I think one of the best. Charlene is getting ready for Christmas at the B&B and her parents are in town until the New Year. Charlene and her Mother have a challenging relationship as she feels her Mother is always critical of her and her Mother is very blunt. Charlene along with her parents are at Bella’s, one of Charlene’s favorites since coming to Salem and David the owner has become a friend. The night is all about Felicity House which is a home for children and teens and the night at Bella’s is an auction to raise funds. David the owner of Bella’s has recently won the lottery and he passes out some envelopes as he makes a speech and then says some strange things and rushes out of the restaurant and is struck down in the street. He dies but was this an accident or murder? I like how Charlene has grown and that she stands up to her Mother and her criticism and thru the book their relationship gets better and she begins to see her Mother in a new light. It is often hard to understand each other’s motivations and Charlene and her Mother worked on their relationship. Jack of course is back and causing confusion for Charlene as she wonders about a relationship with Sam. The mystery is solid as David was not always the great person she thought him to be, however, she does want justice for David as he has ghosts from his past as well as a greedy new younger wife and a teenaged son and ex-wife he treated pretty poorly. Charlene has such a good heart and she vows to try and get some extra funds and gifts for the kids at Felicity House. This was a great story and totally fits with a Christmas theme. Cannot wait for the next installment in this series. Highly recommend.
Traci Wilton's A Salem B&B Mystery series has one of the most intriguing love triangles ever-Charlene, her resident Ghost at the B&B and the local Salem detective Sam. I am a bit put-off by the relationship with the ghost, Dr. Jack as his possessiveness and jealousy is over the top. The mystery in 'Mrs. Morris and the Ghost of Christmas Past' is full of twists and turns, and I was completely surprised with the outcome. As a young widow myself I can identify with Charlene's feelings about her romantic involvements, but I was pleased with some progress by the end of the book. This is a quirky and fun series for those who like the paranormal aspects of a cozy.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions express in this review are entirely my own.
This is the next in the Salem B&B mystery series. Young widow Charlene Morris the owner of Charlene's B&B is hosting her parents for Christmas this year. Her Mother and her have a strained relationship. That adds to her stress level. When they attend a dinner/auction for a local children's home the owner of the restaurant hosting the event announces he has won the lottery and begins handing out checks. His second young, trophy wife complains about the money he is wasting and flashing all her new bling.
As the evening comes to a close he accuses his wife of having an affair, his partner and he have a disagreement over the value of the business and he and his son have words over the lack of financial support of the first wife and his son. He looks out of the window mutters two names and runs out only to be struck and killed in a hit and run.
Her Mother a fan of true crime stories and shows steps in to solve the crime. Charlene has helped solve two other crimes including the hit and run death of her husband. She also helped the local Detective Sam with the murder of a young witch. The B&B is in Salem. Charlene also has the aide of the resident ghost. She is the only one who can see or hear him. Which leads to several awkward moments when she appears to be speaking to herself.
Charlene also takes it upon herself to make good on the donations promised to the children's home. As she gets to know the children she vows to do all she can to make their lives easier.
During the investigation Charlene learns that not everyone is not what they appear to be including the victim. The inclusion of the paranormal elements added to the story for me. The one thig I did not like was the personality of her Mother. She is belittling to her daughter and husband as well as her daughters employees and friends. It added an air of negativity to the story for me. I would check out the authors other works as it is obvious that the Mother character is not in the earlier installments in this series.
This was a pleasant read. I enjoyed the characters as well as the storyline. The mystery was very well planned out and executed. I will read more of these.
Mrs. Morris and the Ghost of Christmas Past is another enjoyable cozy mystery by Traci Witton. I am truly loving this series. I think those who enjoy their cozies with some paranormal in them are going to love these books! This one especially is going to be perfect to read around the holidays! Highly recommend them all.
A ghost, a B&B at the holidays, and the death of a lottery winner. With a fun setting in Salem, one of my favorite places, this is a well written cozy that keeps you guessing.
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Publishing Corp. for a copy of "Mrs. Morris and the Ghost of Christmas Past" in exchange for my honest review.
This was an absolutely delightful story. It was Number 3 in the "A Salem B & B Mystery" series but it read wonderfully as a stand alone. The author crafted this book so that even if you didn't read the precious two books you could easily get into this story.
Charlene Morris runs Charlene's Bed and Breakfast in Salem. She bought the home after losing her husband Jared to a drunk driver and needing to start over. The house came with a wonderful resident ghost named Dr. Jack Strathmore. Charlene is the only one that can see Jack or talk to him. He is one of the best characters that I've "met" this year. Charlene also has a wonderful cat named Silva who spends her time playing with Jack even though she can't see him.
Charlene's parents are visiting for the holidays and Brenda Woodbridge is out to drive Charlene crazy. Her father Michael Woodbridge has the patience of a saint we quickly learn. The story takes place during the week before Christmas. Everyone in town is at Bella's Italian Ristorante for an auction to benefit Felicity House - a home for children who are waiting to be adopted. Everything is going well until the co-owner David Baldwin - who recently won it big on the lottery - starts passing out cheques to come of those in attendance. This makes for an awkward part of the evening. Then there is a hit-and-run outside the restaurant. There is no shortage of people who might have wanted to hurt David. Charlene who has promised Detective Same Holden of the Salem Police Department that she would not get involved - can't resist "helping."The ending is exciting and surprising.
All in all a wonderful read. Very much looking forward to the next book in the series.
Another lovely Christmas cozy mystery! A little spooky but in a fun, "Ghostbusters-esque" way. I deeply enjoyed this read--perfect for right before we get into the holiday season.
Although, this is the third book in the series, I had no problem following along.
Charlene Morris, is the owner of a B&B in Salem, Massachusetts. The reason, she got a great deal on the house was because it came with a resident ghost, Dr. Jack Strathmore, who scared everyone else away, and was unknown at the time to Charlene when she purchased. Jack had been murdered in the house.
Charlene was a widow. Her husband, Jared, was killed in an accident, and Charlene decided to start fresh in Salem.
Charlene's parents are visiting and she takes them out for dinner at Bella's Italian Ristorante. There is a charity event being hosted by Bella's to raise money for Felicity House for Children. David Baldwin, part owner of Bella's, also took the opportunity to pass out envelopes to specific guests. David had just won the lottery, and there was hope of David giving a nice handout. Some were left out entirely, and others not happy with the amount they were given.
David acts like he's seen a ghost, and runs out of the restaurant, and is struck by a car. In a short time, it is learned that David's new wife closed up their account, and no one is receiving any money.
Despite Charlene being new to town, she has a knack for finding clues. Her mother has been reading lots of crime novels and doesn't mind giving her two cents. Charlene takes it upon herself to help generate funds that Felicity House will no longer be receiving, which she conveniently is able to ask questions. Charlene thinks she's solved who killed David, along with some help from her ghostly friend, Jack, and leaves word with the police, except; the police, may not show up in time, and Charlene with her mom might be next.
I love how mischievous Jack could be, with some laugh out moments. Despite being invisible to all but Charlene, he could move things and tease the cat, where everyone thought the cat was nuts. Charlene struggles to get back into dating, and having a jealous ghost to contend with doesn't make it easy. The bantering between Charlene's parents made me smile and reminded me of my own parents and I, also; sympathized with Charlene and her mom driving her nuts.
I received an ARC from NetGalley via Kensington Books and I have voluntarily reviewed this book.
Another great cozy mystery in the series. This is book 3, but can be read alone. Charlene has her parents visiting her B&B over the Christmas holidays, and her resident ghost likes to play tricks on her mother. When the owner of an Italian restaurant is killed, she cannot help but try to solve the mystery. Enjoyable story, and one that is hard to put down. Only thing I didn't like was the jealousy of the ghost. A little creepy. Otherwise, I highly recommend this book, series and author.
My favorite series with a Christmas twist! Charlene is such an amazing character you never know what she's up to! This book really had a twist I didn't see coming!! Bravo to the author for making my guess at the ending be wrong!! Loved this and hope to read many more by This author!!! Can't wait to see what's next!!!
Mrs. Morris and the Ghost of Christmas Past is Book 3 in the Salem B&B Mystery Series by Traci Wilton.
I recently discovered this series and I really love it!
There is a hit and run case during Christmas. Charlene can't help but get involved and her parents are in town for Christmas. Charlene has the help of her resident ghost.
This is a wonderfully written cozy mystery. I really love this series and hope there will be more soon.
Book three in Salem B&B mysteries.
Can be read as a stand alone.
Traci is a widow who moved to Salem, Massachusetts and runs a B &B with a fun and charming ghost, Jack.
Jack loves to play tricks on Traci's mom.
I want to read more to see what happens to Jack. And if Traci moves on from her husband's death
Things are moving along. We get to meet the parents of Mrs. Morris in this book. I just wonder if Jack will ever realize that he and Mrs. Morris can't have a relationship. But the mystery kept me guessing and I did really enjoy Mrs. Morris's dad.
Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for my eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Charlene Morris can't help but get herself involved in investigating the murders that have taken place around her in her new home in Salem, MA. After the death of her husband she moved to Salem and purchased a haunted house that she has turned into Charlene's Bed and Breakfast. The ghost responsible for haunting the B&B is Dr. Jack Strathmore who was murdered in the house. His murder was solved in the first book in the series, Mrs. Morris and the Ghost. Charlene is the only one who can see Jack's ghost. She has befriended him and he helps her solve the murder mysteries.
This is a fun read! Ms. Wilton lays out the clues and leads her readers on an entertaining chase to solve the mystery.
Another wonderful installment of this Salem based cozy series! We're back with Charlene at her bed and breakfast, now 3 months after her opening and move to Salem. It's almost Christmas and her parents are in town for the season making her life a little more interesting. After a night at a local restaurant raising money for Salem's youth and children's home Charlene witnesses the restaurant's owner run over outside. He had just won the lottery and was dealing with a cheating wife and multiple people reaching out to him for money. With so many people with potential motives and the Children's house left in the lurch when their donation check no longer being valid, Charlene is drawn into the whodunnit. With the help of her family and he resident Ghost she sets out to find out more about the mystery surrounding Bella's restaurant and its owner.
I enjoyed this read very much and even though I had an inkling of the murderer before the big reveal, it didn't take away from the desire to keep reading. I'm very curious to see how Charlene balances her ghost and her detective admirer Sam in future books as their relationship develops.

The cozy is very good, the mother is awful, the resident ghost of the B&B sounds wonderful, and if I read another ad for the car Charlene drives I think I'll screech. The publisher's blurb is a good hook and the story has enough twists and red herrings to keep the guessing going. Generally a good read.
I requested and received a free Ebook copy from Kensington Books via NetGalley.
