Special thank you to NetGalley and Stephanie Edwards for a digital review copy.
As usual, I picked up The Haunting on Palm Court without reading any plot summaries or reviews. I had no expectations, but loved the book cover. The story sucked me in immediately. The main character, Blake, has such a relatable charm with a wonderful personality that really shines through Edward’s writing. This is definitely not one of my typical reads; romance and paranormal thrillers aren’t at the forefront of my TBR piles, but I found that while reading this one, I couldn’t put it down. This book contains so much -- eeriness, romance, heartbreak -- all roped into a beautiful story. The pacing of this book was a little fast, although a little more than a year passes during its course, so I believe it worked well in this circumstance. I truly enjoyed reading this book, and whenever I had to walk away from it, I kept looking forward to going back and finishing.
This is suspenseful, interesting and sweet. After finding her fiance Parker cheating on her, Blake flees to her grandmother's seaside cottage. An old family friend, who lives next door, and is the grandmother of her first love, Clint, immediately starts to take care of Blake. After Parker attacks Blake then flees, Clint starts watching over her, and tracking down Parker. Two days after the attack Parker is found dead from a car accident. Very soon after, Parker starts to attack Blake. That's when the neighbor tells Blake part of the story of her grandmother and her experience of getting rid of her violent ghost. It turns out that Blake's grandmother wrote a book on her research and her own dealings with people from the other side and how to get rid if them. Most of the time Clint and Blake are together is spent falling in love again, and talking about finding the book. It's a good story, with lots of action, but it largely ignores finding the actual book.

First of all thanks to NetGalley, BooksGoSocial and Stephanie Edwards for a free copy to review.
I so much wanted to love this book, it had intriguing potential success factors, two witty strong old female characters one of them is long deceased, a cozy old cottage by the ocean, a haunting and a rekindled romance. It was supposed to be liked. Unfortunately it wasn't the right book for me, maybe it fell in the wrong age group and I am just too old to savor it. Or maybe reading it right after a succession of books about serial killers and kidnappers spoiled the fun for me.
I'll give it three stars though for the setting and the potential.
Thankyou to NetGalley, BooksGoSocial and the author, Stephanie Edwards, for the opportunity to read a digital copy of The Haunting of Palm Court in exchange for an honest and unbiased opinion.
I was initially intrigued by the premise of the storyline. It held so much potential. Unfortunately, it didn't quite lived up to my expectations.
The author has written an easy to read story, but it was lackluster in exploring the actual hauntings. I felt that so much scope was missed by not being more in depth. Also, I found myself asking how someone who was supposed to not realise her spiritual potential suddenly be talking about being able to see spirits in the past? Did I miss something?
This is one of those books that you have to make up your own mind.
