Tiger king is like a car wreck. Amazed at what it has brought to the forefront. Good follow up. What a story!!!

I live in NE Oklahoma where Joe Exotic is an evening news item pretty often. If you watched Tiger King on Netflix, you know the basic story but Al Cimino has given us much, much more to shake our collective heads at. It really does take all kinds of people to make the world interesting but I'm certainly glad I am seeing this story from the outside.

This is another non-fiction biography I was thrilled to receive from NetGalley to do a review on. I have binged the Netflix docuseries, Tiger King, since it appeared ”worldwide during the coronavirus lockdown of 2020” like so many others as well. The millionaire dollar question that everyone wonders after watching the show is: What actually happened to Carole Baskins husband and did she kill him? This book gives readers more insight into the life of infamous Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin.

Things I didn’t like: 1.) Tons of numbers and facts are just thrown at you. It read more like a fact sheet at times then a biography. 2.) Joe lives in a “fantasy world” and a lot of the information he shared with the author Al Cimino was found to be falsified. So it left you thinking okay, so what actually is the story. 3.) You can tell the author was extremely biased.

Things I did like: 1.) Interviewed all participants of the show for their own POV. 2.) Dove deeper into the back story and shared more information then what the docuseries did

This book is going to be the Christmas gift of the year! Tiger King was such a huge part of the 2020 quarantine/pandemic and this book is the perfect keepsake.
I am not normally one for non fiction but even I couldn't resist this book. I can not wait to get stacks of these in store, see the finished product and handsell the heck out of them!
Thank you Netgalley for this digital ARC. Counting down until I can buy my own copy.

I requested this book from NetGalley because like so many others, I saw the NetFlix documentary and I was intrigued. This book repeats some of the info from the documentary but has so much more. You are taken through the trial and Joe's testimony as well as hearing more from other key players. I found it interesting and very telling. First, I wonder how many people there are in our country this delusional. Joe believes everything he says no matter how outrageous it sounds. Second, I ask myself why we are so fascinated with them? An interesting read and answered a few questions I had after the documentary.
Thanks NetGalley for the copy in exchange for an honest review.

I am probably completely biased because I loved the series Tiger King on Netflix. So, seeing this book, I was pretty convinced I was gonna have a good time, and I sure did!

The book goes into more depth than what we saw in the show. I would recommend reading this, if you also enjoyed the show!

If like me to binge watched "The Tiger King" at the beginning of lockdown, you will love this book!

This was a deeper dive into the world of Joe Exotic, it brings to light a more in-depth look into his life and all the crazy and horrify things that went on at his Exotic Animals sanctuary. I felt this book gave you more information on the feud between him and the infamous Carol Baskin. I did find the book could be quite slow in parts as sometimes it felt like it was repeating things that had been mentioned already. Most of the first half of the book was things that had been shown in the documentary, with a few bits of new information.

The second half of this book was the most interesting to me as it went through the trial, which was not featured in the Netflix documentary this was where I got most of the new information. I liked reading about what that entailed and how the jury reached their verdict.

I would recommend this book to all those cool cats and kittens out there.

If you loved the Netflix show and wanted more than this is it. So much more details, facts and events that were too much for TV.

This book fleshed out details that weren't in the Netflix documentary. A sad but intriguing story.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
