THe Complete Grimoire is a fantastic introduction to all things magic. Lidia Pradas covers energy work, the wheel of the year, setting up an alter, crystals/herbs, divination, spellcrafting and more. She has built on her Instagram Wiccan Tips and created a great reference tool for anyone wanting to get started in the Craft.
I loved the illustrations and found the book easy to understand and follow. I felt that there was more then just the basics you see in a lot of the other intro to witchcraft books out there. I especially loved the chapters on correspondences and the wheel of the year. I also appreciated how Lidia touched on environmentalism/cultural sensitivity when discussing some of her tips.
I would definitely recommend The Complete Grimoire for the beginner witch.
This book is a very introductory resource for those curious about magic/magick and unsure of where to start. It does a nice job of not being too detailed about any one thing and providing a nice overview into the various areas that a witch or practitioner might wish to study further. Purposely vague, this is a wonderful resource to act as a jumping-off spot for further research into the areas that interest you! The correspondence charts and recipes are especially helpful, and the illustrations provided throughout the book are lovely.
4/5 stars
Thanks to Neygalley for providing this e-arc. You'll find everything here in completion that you need. I will refer to this time and time again for my personal practice. The author has thoughtfully included each area of practice here to start any witch on a solid practice
It is a good introductory type of book. A variety of topics introduced and then the reader can go and research afterwords. The wording is not dumbed down.
I would gladly give this book 100 stars . This is the perfect book for beginning witches . You will find everything here in completion that you need. I will refer to this time and time again for my personal practice. The author has thoughtfully included each area of practice here to start any witch on a solid practice. I enjoyed the illustrations and its easy to follow, thoughtfully designed and very enjoyable to read. This is a book to add in hard copy to your home library.
Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity. I highly recommend this book.
Really interesting book for those who are new to witchcraft. It doesn't cover things in detail but opens the door for you to carry out your own research. It is also one of the most beautiful books I've ever seen and is decorated in such a way that you want to keep reading to absorb the images as well as the words. Thank you for letting me read this ARC, I really enjoyed it!
I can't wait to get a physical copy for myself.
It is basically a compilation of information on witchcraft, and it doesn't focus too much on one path or another.
so this might be really good for people new to it or just wants to know what it might be about.
However, those who are already on the path might not find this relevant to them. There is such a variety of information, in this grimoire, that you still might find something useful to your path in this book.
This was a nice and simple introduction to wicca, and a nice way to explain the practice. It was nice and simple, while being fairly detailed, and wasn’t too complex, and there were no elements of trying to gatekeep the religion.
Lovely! The Complete Grimoire is by no means complete, but it's an excellent starting point for baby witches and beginners.
It touches on a variety of topics, and offers practical and easily understandable processes, especially when it comes tobtjose unfamiliar with the tenets of witchcraft, such as candle magic, divination and altars. I loved the chapter on the Wheel of the Year, and the illustrations are charming, a little witchy a little whimsical.
Definitely recommend!
Many thanks for my ARC from Net Gally.

Magickal Practices and Spells for Awakening Your Inner Witch
Excellent introduction to Magick, Wicca and Witchcraft ~ I found the book one I would love to have on my bookshelf to refer to or to gift to those newly interested in this way of life. Why? Because it was easy to understand with just enough information for a novice without being too much.
What I liked:
* The choice of information
* The writing
* Illustrations
* Charts
* Terms with definitions
* Simple succinct important items one should know
* Cautions
* Inclusiveness and acceptance of all paths
* The variety of information shared
* Emphasis on preparation and intention
* The warm way I felt while reading and when I finished
* Everything
What I did not like? Can’t think of anything at all that I did not like.
Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I buy it for myself or someone else? Definitely
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Group ~ Fair Winds Press for the ARC – This is my honest review.
5 Stars
This was a great guide, as beginner myself this was everything you could want. It is bright and inviting, great set out, easily accessible, to the point and plain English, nothing confusing or complicated (sometimes some guides seem to want to exclude you the way they write them) this is just som wonderfully inviting to read. I will definitely be purchasing a physical copy for myself
Brilliant
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion
It took me less than a millisecond to request a copy of this book after I realised what it was. Witchcraft?? Sign me the fuck up. And it was everything I could have hoped for. Any modern witch, baby witch, or wannabe witch should have it, honestly. It's got absolutely everything you could ever possibly need. Now, I'm not saying it goes 12 feet under in detail for every single subject, because there's not enough string on the planet to bind that book together. Instead it basically gives you a step by step guide into the world of modern witchcraft and how to incorporate it into your life. The author herself is warmly comforting in her teaching and clearly believes wholeheartedly in the craft, but still is grounded in the modern world of sciences and working towards your goals. She even has a degree in environmental science, so you know she's not completely nuts. For her, first and foremost, witchcraft is a choice made only by you, and in order to become a witch you simply have to decide to be one. I love how she talks about the presence of witchcraft in other religions, and how the two concepts are not entirely mutually exclusive - you can still be religious and a witch, or one, or the other (religions themselves may not think this, but that's from their perspective). I also love how her basis for witchcraft is always based on intent, never on skill.
Like most subjects, there is just so much I don't know about witchcraft but learned from this book, starting with the many different types of witches one can be. Also, that you can be a witch who is Wiccan, but also a witch that is not! Ultimately, the author emphasises throughout the book that witchcraft, as a whole, is customizeable to each an every witch. It's also super accessible to anyone who may have an interest. Past the concept that you simply have to declare yourself a witch to be one, you can adapt and exchange nearly everything in witchcraft if you don't have the recommended supplies or ingredients readily available. And even if you can't include any physical tools and equipment, there are still ways to participate!! Like dream interpretation! And palmistry!! There's so so much to practise that I would be surprised if there was a single person that did it all. Not only is witchcraft considerate to all practitioners, but all living creatures as well. The author is always emphasising that witchcraft is never meant to hurt anyone or anything. All your actions should be considerate whether it's human, animal, or plant (you're not even supposed to banish a ghost if a bad one shows up in a seance - just get out of there, fast).
I've always had a passing interest in witchcraft in my life, starting with the concept of witches in Harry Potter (although vastly different). I remember checking out books on it in the library and coming home with giant spellbooks that I would spend ages flipping through. I thought I was doing it casually for personal research, but then on the day I meant to audition for my local theatre group, I broke a mirror and found myself frantically looking for a spell that would reverse any bad luck I generated. Last year I even visited Salem to immerse myself in all the history there and ended up learning so much more than I anticipated about modern witches. Now after reading this book, I am even more fascinated in a world that is still considered to be bad juju. Everything about it is fascinating to me, nothing less than the fact that anyone can do it if they want to bring witchcraft into their lives. All you need is just to focus your intentions and let your curiosity lead the way. Honestly, this book should be far longer, but I still appreciate it immensely for all that it does.
An excellent reference guide to witchcraft, informative and well written.
I liked the clarity of the explanations and the style of writing. It's a great read when you want to learn something about topic new to you.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
This promised a concise and in-depth guide to practising witchcraft, and it was definitely that. The illustrations were genuinely lovely, and the tables throughout helpful,
This isn't particularly 'complete' but it does give a reasonably comprehensive overview, especially useful for beginners, but shouldn't be the sole resource one uses. The writing was easy to follow, if a bit inconsistent in the level of detail that it went into, and the information was easily digestible.
Overall an interesting read with excellent illustrations. Would recommend to anyone interested in witchcraft.
Big thanks to the author, NetGalley, and Fair Winds Press for the eArc. Out on the 1/09/2020!
Book Review: The Complete Grimoire: Magickal Practices and Spells for Awakening Your Inner Witch by Lidia Pradas
Genre: Health, Mind and Body/ Religion and Spirituality
Publisher: Quarto Publishing Group - Fair Winds Press
Release Date: 1st September, 2020
I want to start of by saying that this book wasn't for me, but that doesn't mean it might not be right for someone else. If a book didn't appeal to me I always try to consider who may enjoy it.
Described as a 'magickal beginner's guide to witchcraft practices and knowledge', The Complete Grimoire is a place to start and it covers a range of topics related to the craft. One of the topics I enjoyed was the coverage of the Sabbats as it was one of the more in-depth chapters and included recipes that I will attempt during the celebrations.
Although this grimoire covers a lot of different areas, it does so in a very generalised and surface level way. I also found it to be quite dry in the way it was delivered. Lists and tables are good for quick reference, yet I found myself skipping through them. Furthermore, I felt that the book lacked personality. Other than, repeatedly, pointing out that she is 'rooted in the Celtiberian pagan tradition' the book did not feel very personal. As someone who is further along in their Wiccan and Witchcraft journey I tend to look for books that delve deeper into more specific areas and authors that are deeply connected and passionate about their subject.
Having recently read, The Green Witch's Grimoire by Arin Murphy-Hiscock (and loving it) I felt that The Complete Grimoire wasn't as helpful. It tried too hard to include everything and what I learned from Murphy-Hiscock is that a grimoire is never 'complete'; it is a continuous, evolving, extension of the Witch you are.
Personally, this book offered me nothing new. I would recommend it to people who are complete beginners in the world of Witchcraft.
I struggled to get this book in a format in which it could be opened, but once I finally did it was worth the wait. I enjoyed Lidia’s easy style of writing and her guidance throughout. This is a book I will refer now over and over in the future!
I really loved reading this book. I found I learned a lot from it. It was very well written and I'd read more from this author.
*Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for providing me with a complimentary eARC for review purposes*
This is a nice book for beginners as it includes lots of information. I loved the inclusion of tables of information throughout and the Wheel of the Year section.
It provides enough information as a starting point for further research, so not really a complete grimoire, and doesn’t lead you into one type of practice, giving you the chance to follow your instincts.
This is a really nice book for beginners with useful information about crystals, herbs, tarot, altars, elements, deities etc. The illustrations are stunning and I liked the tables of information throughout, plus the recipes in the Wheel of the Year section. The author’s writing style is down to earth and accessible, making the book a great introductory text.
Thank you Quarto/Fair Winds Press/Netgalley for my ARC.
The Complete Grimoire seems to be a fairly in depth look into witchcraft. The topics covered include: FAQs, First Steps, Altar and Tools, The Wheel of the Year, Crystals, Herbs, Divination, Working with Spirits and Deities, and Correspondences, Rituals, and Spells.
This appears to be focused on developing a beginner and intended to be used a reference material and not as a one time read.
The artwork in this book is beautiful and the diagrams are very helpful.
I received a free copy of this ebook in exchange for my honest review from NetGalley and the publisher.
