I am always sockfree and shoe free. My son is the same. This was such a fun book that I could actually jump feet first into!

Summer Feet is a perfect picture book to read with children during the Summer, especially when the weather is nice enough to finally get those toes out of shoes/boots. It was an homage to feet and the sensations and activities that come with bare feet. Over the summer you could participate in many of these activities such as walking barefoot in grass, sand, over rocks and pebbles, squish in the mud, dance in the rain or race through a pasture. There is a lot of new vocabulary in this book that is highlighted by the large, colourful illustrations. The text is written with a rhythmic cadence, but it was not the same from page to page. I enjoyed this book with one complaint. It became repetitive and my granddaughter began to lose interest. It was a bit long, so with the younger one, I read it in two sittings. Overall a beautiful book that I will be pulling out again in the late spring when we look forward to going barefoot once again.

This is a sweet little picture book about all the little joys of bare feet in the summer. As a kid who always wanted to be shoeless when running around outside, this took me back. Lovely illustrations full of gentle excitement and fun.

I love Sheree Fitch's work. She is dubbed as Canada's Dr. Seuss and kids love her books and wonderful sense of humour. Her newest book, "Summer Feet", is a celebration of many things you can experience while toe-trucking through your world. Kids will be delighted to shed their shoes and socks and say...

"Hello toes, our tootsie friends
Hello, summer feet again!"

FREEDOM! Freedom to explore, discover and wander-wild every single day finally letting your piggies go... unleashed! Those bare-naked feet will get tickled as they race through pastures of grass, get mushy and dirty as they sink deep into the mud, twirl and pirouette as they dance in the rain, and wobble-dy-walk to escape the ouch ouch of gravelly rocks, just to name a few.

The rhythmic words and playful scenarios will be a great hit with kids and encourage them to let loose their ten little digits ( at least for the summer season) and de-feet that feeling of being held back before they must re-boot once again as the weather cools down.

The illustrations show a diversity of kids and are colourful and whimsical with text swirling through them. The flavour of the book is bright, happy and summery. I highly recommend this book.

Today’s the day
we kick off shoes
hide away socks

Today’s the day
Our summer feet shout
LET US OUT.

The main characters in this book are the feet of the children. In Summer, the feet come out of the shoes and socks and explore nature in their bare-naked form. The bare-naked feet walk over hard rocks, tumble down hills, climb trees, play hide-and-seek and many other activities.

Summer Feet is a perfect picture book to read with children this Summer. It also provides for activities to do in Summer. Hurry up and grab this book because Autumn is coming and the feet have to be imprisoned in boots and socks soon.

This was a fun and engaging read. The rhymes would make this a good read aloud book. I liked that there were kids of different races represented in the book, but the illustration style was not for me.

I thought that this was a great and fun book!

It is a book that really does celebrates all things summer!

It is the idea book to read at this time of the year and I also liked that you could follow the story and make sure that you do as many of the different activities on a summer break too - walking barefoot in grass, sand, over rocks and pebbles, searching for sea glass and, finally, huddled-up cozy at a late-summer bonfire - bliss!

A great way to be interactive!! It is 5 stars from me for this one!!

This book started out cute, but it was just too long. As an adult, I started to lose focus about halfway through. I'm not sure it can hold the attention of a younger audience.

I adored this book. It's all about tossing off our shoes and enjoying a barefoot summer. I'll admit, I forget all about folding socks when summer hits and try to go barefoot as much as possible! This is a beautiful, rhyming picture book that remind me of my favourite season of the year! And the illustrations are gorgeous <3

I loved reading Summer Feet, it transported me to a time when I would do many of the activities. The rhythmic pattern of the words added interest for those little ones that might not have had all the experiences described in the book. Would recommend to use in the classroom as an introduction to descriptive writing or to accompany a read aloud on seasons.

This is a beautifully, lyrical , poetic storybook that highlights the best moments and activities of summertime. Through colorful illustrations and artistic prose, the author captures the fun and messiness of summer feet.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read and review.

An adorable book about the beauty of exploring barefoot outside. The illustrations are cute, but I wish there was more diversity in the characters (there is some). I will definitely. be picking up a copy for my classroom to use for descriptive writing lessons. My own children will also love this book for when we are camping.

This is a playful use of words to describe what it is like to walk around in bare feet in the summer. IT goes on and on until it is autumn again, and one has to return to the world of shoes.

I found it painfully long. I suppose as a celebration of bare feet it was ok, but it took a long time to say that having summer and bare feet are a good combination.

As an adult I found it boring. Maybe children will enjoy the bright colors, and the dscritpoins of what having bare feet are like.

But I would pass on this one.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.

"Summer Feet" by Sheree Fitch is a cute children's tale that tells the story of the adventures that summer time bare feet go on. The pages are wonderfully fun with plenty of adjectives that thoroughly describe all of the kid friendly summer activities like playing in the dirt and making smores. The book did seem a little overly complicated in terms of wording and was somewhat difficult to read aloud. Despite this, our family enjoyed the story and loved the summery fun found inside this book!

Summer Feet is a fun concept and a cute book. I loved the rhyming pattern and that it introduced several new words to my little one. However, the book was a bit long and wordy to to hold my 10 month olds attention. I think this book would be better suited to a child that's a bit older. The illustrations were interesting and colorful. I didn't care for the proportions of the children. They hand giant feet and it just looked odd and off to me. I did appreciate that the children we're illustrated in a variety of skin tones.

This is a sweet picture book about the glories of a summer spent in bare feet. The rhythm of the text is enjoyable, and the illustrations are whimsical and fun. My 3-year-old requested to read it twice in a row, and I know my 1st graders will like it just as much!

Thank you to NetGalley and Nimbus Publishing for providing me with an advance copy! This title will be released on August 14, 2020.

Summer Feet may have been an amazing children's book but for me, it was a bit dull with muted colours. When I think of summer, I think of all the colours of the rainbow, I never think of the colours in this book. It rather felt like a book about autumn. And I must say I don't like the illustrations, but this is a highly personal opinion.

Although I enjoy puns and rhymes in a children's book, I thought the ones in this were a bit too much. They may sound funny for a child's ears but I don't think the adults reading the book will enjoy it a lot.

There were some appealing parts of the words themselves in especially melodious portions and some of the text layouts were especially playful with the images. That said, this book fell flat for me. I was confused about the relative sizes of the people (it only made a difference near the end but by that point, I realized I was confused and distracted from the story). Additionally, I am curious about how many people will really connect to this depiction of summer. This isn't necessarily to say that every book has to be inclusive of every experience (an impossible and unworthy task), but from the book description, it seems the goal was to be reminiscent of a summer experience, and there are some parts that feel very region specific. It just seems like this book failed to live up to its own expectation and goal.
