Opposites coming together in a fabulous read Prince Edward, supported by his father the King, believes that for his country to move into the future everything should be sleek and modern whereas Clem sees the beauty in antiques and historical places and wants to salvage what she can for her family’s restoration company I loved Clem, she stands up for what she believes in even though at times it gets her into trouble, she is passionate and driven whilst also protecting her family. She isn’t afraid to argue with Edward in defence of her beliefs on historical objects and sites and no matter what she sticks to them which I think made me love her more as a character I completely adored Edward, he is set in his beliefs that things must be modern, sleek and totally up to date, that condos are the future and that historical sites are just in the way and need to be demolished. As he gets to know Clem more, he starts to understand her point of view and see that some sites are worth saving and can be repurposed. He struggles at times with his public persona and standing up to his father but he gains more confidence as the book develops and he becomes the person I knew he could be Edward and Clems relationship shouldn’t work as they are total opposites but as they start to work together and see each other’s point of view things start to change and I could see them both develop so much as the book went on It was fascinating to me to see how restoration and ideas for updating things works and how Clems vision becomes reality and I loved the setting in the story and I could so easily see the locations and their lives playing out I totally loved this book and read it in one sitting so as a result I would recommend it to those who enjoy a romance against the odds where the characters challenge and push each other whilst also learning about themselves
The billionaire prince’s stubborn assistant by Leslie North
A really quick read. A reasonable book by Leslie north though not her best I felt. I Couldn’t really get into this story not sure if it was the actual characters or the story, I felt it didn’t have the natural flow of her other books.
Ok if you want a not too involved light read .
Leslie North does it again with this new book. I could not put the book down. Looking forward the rest of the series to see how love captures the other 2 prince's

What is it with characters named Edward being so bland I want to throw the book against the wall to shake some sense into them? Boy oh boy, this book was so dull.
Writing style: I really liked North's writing in her The Billionaire's Club trilogy, but this book was written completely differently and it was bad... So, so bad... It was bland, dull, boring. I really didn't get any sparkle out of this one.
Characters: It's that I I always witte a review right after I finish the book or I would have already forgotten these characters. I couldn't tell you what their personalities were. Edward loves modern things and Clem loves old things. It's supposed to be a nice opposites attract romance, but all I was reading was a toxic man-child being totally inconsiderate of a woman with a vision 🤷🏻♀️
Story: uhm, what was it about? Good question... I don't really think there's a real story to talk about here. I really don't know how this book could have been published.
Yep, it was bad. I don't get that this book has such a high rating on Goodreads. The Twilight romance was more interesting and realistic than this... One and a half stars for this disaster.
I normally like books by this author, however, this short story felt discombobulated. I never found the chemistry between the two main characters. I felt the book rushed.
Clementine Wicke loves anything historical. Her father and uncle own a restoration shop and warehouse, where they bring anything old back to is original beauty. In the country of Sovalon, Prince Edward Ashton, wants to replace the old with new. When his father gives him the task of restoring his grandmother’s old castle, Prince Edward can’t wait till it’s complete so he can move on to newer projects. The historical society in their town, wants the castle finished to its old beauty. This is where Clementine comes in. She’s always protesting when an old building is being torn down, so she would be perfect for this project, As they work alongside, he starts to see some of the beauty she is trying to bring back to the project, and growing affections he has for her.
I’m a big fan of books by Leslie North but sadly this book lacked for me.
I usually get swept along with the storyline but I found this book boring and very little plot. I know it’s fiction but some things I raised my eyebrow to in a “as if that would happen” way.
I know it’s a short story but there was little character or relationship development in my opinion and I found the story jumping and then reflecting back on memories which weren’t mentioned at the time but felt like a late addition from the author to make it a bit more believable.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this book.
“In life, physical things can shatter and become lost forever, but not love. Love may be broken but with one breath and a single choice, there is always a chance to restore it to its original beauty.”
I started this book with the idea that I wouldn’t get the hang of the storyline because I had all the bad reviews I’d read about it in my head. Reviews calling the characters petty and all sorts of other things so I admittedly skimmed a bit towards the beginning. But towards the middle of the book, I started to empathize with the character of Clem, seeing beauty in what others would classify as old junk. Sure it did have moments where I was questioning what these characters were thinking and all the arguments but after the author alluded to two of my favorite childhood fairytales; Sleeping Beauty and Beauty And the Beast.. I couldn’t help but be grasped into the story.
As soon as Prince Edward messed up and push Clem away though.. the water works began. I legit almost sobbed at Clem’s feeling of being betrayed and my heart hurt for her. I wanted her to have her dreams and I hated that they seemed to have slipped through her fingers. Thankfully, all was well in the end, and I stopped crying long enough to read their happily ever after. This short romance read is a definite keeper and I’m so happy I gave it a chance.
Moral of this story: Don’t read reviews before starting a book, everyone has their own brains and tastes and not one is the same!
Great short read....not the best I've read by Leslie North but still a good read and the chemistry was there but I feel like this story was a little more dramatized than it needed to be to be a good story. But I loved the story and how they make remodeling old with new together.
The Billionaire Prince's Stubborn Assistant by Leslie North is the first in the series. Prince Edward has the task to repair an old castle, he want to make it more modern and isn't very concerned about keeping true to the history of the castle. Clementine is hired to help with the direction of the renovations. Her vision on the restoration is much different than Prince Edward's. The chemistry between them is hot and sparks are flying, but can they make anything of this between them. They have a business relationship and have very different visions.
This book is very well written, and the storyline was easy to let follow. All the characters were perfect! I can't wait for book 2 in this series.
ARC Provided by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This book just didn’t work for me.
I wanted to see the relationship develop over time but it stalls. So does the book really.
The action lags and I got really bored.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an arc in exchange for my honest review.
Leslie North consistently brings great characters and passionate romance to life. As a big fan North's, her name provokes an automatic one-click from me. I am always entertained.
The Billionaire Prince's Stubborn Assistant is an easy read, angst, romance, ticks all the boxes. The only thing which could have made it better was the characters developed a bit more as it felt at times the reader had missed things, when they just were not written and it was like the reader was just expected to know,
I loved this first book.
Clémentine and Edwards, are match made in heaven in my opinion, they are opposite, but they also complete each other.
That was really interesting to see them interact together, because Edward is so focused on modernism, and Clem is very obsessed with historical places.
Clem is really passionate about rescuing old items that have history, even if they aren't necessarly beautiful, but for her, the historical part is the beauty of it.
Edward isn't really interested in Historical stuff, but with Clem, he'll learn how to appreciate it, and the way she is passionate, it's something that had made him, fell in love with her.
I'm reading book 2 at the moment, and I can say that author hooked me up with her amazing books.
This book was so hard for me. For a book that took me 5 hours to read I felt that nothing happened and yet not enough information was given about the world around the H/h. I love royalty story but this just didn’t work for me.
I recieved a free copy from netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is a short but sweet novel. The fast pace was enjoyable although I would have preferred more interaction between the prince and Clem.
Edward and his father the king want to tear down the decrepit buildings in their country to make room for condos being progress to the land.
Clementine is determined to protect the historic architecture of the country. When the two unexpectedly meet the sparks fly between these polar opposites.
Because this is a novella the characters aren't fully developed but Clem is able to hold her own against a prince and knows what she stands for. Edward is sweet and charmed by Clem and comes to value the world through her eyes.
Lovely storyline!
As a lover of all things design, I absolutely loved the fact that the novel is about restoration design. The independence of Clem is also especially refreshing in this billionaire romance.
I think that the story could be more realistic as regards the hero, who does a lot for someone he met in so little time.
I would love to read more from Leslie North in future.
This is a mediocre read. More of a light Cinderella story. This would make a light beach read, if you are looking for quick and easy, nothing much else. The title And cover need work. Ok read.
This book just wasn't for me. There seemed to be a disconnect between the time period and the character's speech and mannerisms. This is supposed to be a modern setting, but everyone spoke and acted like this was almost a Regency Romance. It felt really disjointed to me.
The romance between the Prince and Clem also seemed odd and forced. There is not any dialog between them that doesn't center around historic restoration of the castle. They know nothing about each other besides her propensity towards antiques and his modernity.
Also, I have SO MANY QUESTIONS:
Can the Prince even date a commoner?
Why doesn't he have Security?
Can he actually live part time somewhere else?
Where is his current residence?
He can wander around alone after dark and chase thieves?
How is the money Clem makes helping her family business?
Where are the Prince's other siblings? If they are younger why don't they live in the Palace?
The entire book felt confused. I usually enjoy Leslie North, but this book has a lot of problems.
I received an ARC of this title in exchange for my honest review.
Clem's "hope chest" reminds me of the treasure cave that The Little Mermaid, has. I was waiting for her to pull out a whatchamacallit to show him. Plus it took only one kiss for Prince Edward to get lost in her.
I really enjoyed reading, The Billionaire Prince's Stubborn Assistant.
