I LOVEEEEEEE NICOLE and this book was just so cute and adorable. I read the synopsis and I knew this book was gonna be good but didn't realize how good, I love it so much and I hope to have more book by Nicole soon! she is amanzing and I wish to meet her

I revived a copy of this book from Netgalley to read and review.
This book had a promising idea and start. However, the story became quite flat and the characters were quite inconsistent.
Sadly, it became difficult to read and overall a 2 star book.

This book was a classic romance that I flew through in no time. I loved the multiple characters that we got to know. The only thing I didn't love was that the start of the book felt a bit boring and slow. There were also some predictable moments (which I've come to expect from romance novels) that limited my enjoyment a bit.
All in all this book was a cookie cutter romance that I overall enjoyed but wouldn't find myself re-reading or thinking about again.

I really like romance and some young adult books, but this wasn`t it? the characters were boring and flat. Their chemistry was meh at best.

I found this to be an enjoyable read, keeping me on my toes throughout. The storyline was written well and flowed seamlessly. I look forward to reading more by this author!

I really enjoyed reading this book so much, I immediately fell for these characters and I truly want to reread this book again. I finished this book just recently and I’m already having withdrawals symptoms.

I originally read this book on Wattpad, and to this day it is still my favorite book of all time. Because of how many times I've read it, I know the story like the back of my hand.
If your coming to buy the book from Wattpad, just a heads up, it's majorly different. Most of my favorite scenes were removed and the writing is kind of choppy.
If your still interested in the story, I recommend going back to the app Wattpad and reading it there under the same title.

A cute romance story filled with many favorite tropes! This story not only upheld the romance, but went beyond my expectations on the depths for each character and storyline. One thing I would note is to make the pace a little quicker. 3/5 stars! <3

This was really really so cliche. It was a good time and definitley nostaligic for things I would’ve read when I was younger

I really loved this novel. It was super awesome. The characters are really sweet. It was a great romance. There were super sweet moments highly recommend.

I wanted to love this one because as a teen I was a tomboy and a soccer and softball star. But the heroine drove me nuts from the first page and I couldn't get into the story.

i've read this book when it was solely on wattpad, an my younger self enjoyed it way more then, then now. honestly, the writing was not good, and half of what was being talked about literally made zero sense and was just a mess. and i really hated the whole, i'm better then other girls cause i play soccer vibes i was getting from the MC.

This book has been sitting on my shelf for a while, and just the other day I picked it up looking for a light kind of read, with a cute love story. And that wasn't what I got, which was kind of disappointing, and this book was a mixed bag for me.
I enjoyed some characters, but I wanted more from them. I didn't like the cheating that took place, and I didn't feel like the supporting characters were developed or spoken about other than to say a few word description about their appearance. They were brushed over, and that didn't sit right with me.
This book had a lot of potential I thought, but it fell short. I found the timeline jumpy and it read more like a list than a flowing storyline. There was also the mention of racism, homophobia, & bullying, but there was nothing done about it by the characters in my opinion. I felt like based on the way I saw the characters & their personalities, I expected them to do more about it.
Thank you Netgalley for giving me an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

When I requested this book I did have hopes of loving but it but after reading the first couple of chapters I've come to the conclusion that this book is not for me. It was the writing, ultimately, that did it for me specifically the dialogue between characters. 2021 is the year of fun, not the year of forcing myself through a book and cringing every five seconds and so I'm sadly dnf-ing this novel.

Macy is the only girl on her school's soccer team. She's seen as one of the guys and hasn't dated anyone before. When she meets the transfer student Sam, they butt heads right away. She thinks he's arrogant, he thinks she needs to loosen up and have fun. They have chemistry right away, but then Sam's cousin Cedric, who Macy has been crushing on for years, starts showing an interest in her. Now Macy has to decide which guy is right for her, the good guy or the bad boy?
This story has it cute moments and I liked Macy and Sam's flirting, as well as watching them grow to trust each other. I thought this could have benefitted from more action or drama, something to break up the talking and pining. Macy and Sam both play soccer, but there are very little scenes of them actually playing games. The stakes also could have been higher, it was clear Macy would get with Sam and Cedric just kind of fell to the side. I needed drama, anger, or something to beef this plot up.
Macy's best friend Jasmine did have some deeper issues going on which helped. There was divorce and racism and I appreciated seeing Macy learn how to be a good friend and support Jasmine in her time of need. They had a cute friendship and that made me like this more.

Some character development, cute moments, a bit cliché which is to be expected. It´s predictable, which I liked, not the genre I choose expecting a lot of plot twists. It is a great summer read, feel-good without being boring.
I didn´t really like the cheating and there was a lot of jumping in time, just to the next day/next week but it felt abrupt.

4.5/5 stars
After reading so many books on Wattpad, a lot of them seem to get merged and mushed together in my mind. I had read this while it was being wrote on Wattpad and had completely forgot about it until I received an advanced reader copy from NetGalley and Wattpad Publishing - thanks by the way!
This book checks off all of the YA contemporary romance books:
• Misunderstood "bad boy"
• Non-feminine female lead
• Mean girl who's jealous and out to make everyone's life hell
• Love triangle
• Basic characters who don't add or take away from the story
• Drama
While I wasn't a huge fan of our leads and how they got into their relationship (I will never support or enjoy reading about cheating), it was cute romance.
I'm giving it 4.5 stars because I despise cheating on your partner and it was cute easy read. I wouldn't say anything surprised me or stuck out to me in being unique but nowadays, what is unique?
Thank you again to NetGalley and Wattpad Publishing to allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Trigger warning: Racism, Bullying, Violence, Homophobia
Well I certainly liked this more than I thought.
From first glance, I thought I'll be reading a very insta-lovey chick-lit kind of novel. I have no idea why I thought that way but I can only presume it was because of the cover and the title which did initially establish some stereotypes before I even started reading. I didn't go in thinking much of this book until I read a few reviews and decided to give this book a go. I must say, I wasn't disappointed.
The Bad Boy and the Tomboy follows soccer-lover and Boys Soccer Team Captain, Macy as she navigates first love and her conflicting feelings towards the "bad boy" Sam Cahill, a boy that spells nothing but trouble and causes mayhem wherever he goes. I'm not even going to lie here, from the start of the novel so many typical YA cliches already appeared and I was immediately afraid of the extremely clichéd road this was potentially heading into. I think I lost count at one point. The main character was predictable with her "I'm a tomboy and I'm really innocent, I don't think any guy would like me like that cos I'm one of the guys" thing going on and the backstory with her mom's death. There was also the whole thing with Sam who was cliched like anything with his bad boy attitude and his at times, bad temper. I was waiting for the moment someone would say the extremely cliched line: "That boy is nothing but trouble. Be careful" and it did happen. I knew from the start that Sam would appear to be shallow and mean but he'd end up having a deep and sad backstory. I was right with everything and so, in that sense I did find things to be very predictable.
That being said, as cliched as it was, I actually kinda liked it too?
To elaborate, I really liked Nicole Nwosu's writing style. I found that it was coherent and clear and the pacing of the story was done really well too. My only issue was that if you weren't careful, you could've missed out on some key details and so sometimes you needed to go back and read with a fine comb. I also liked how racism and homophobia was dealt with in this book and the clear message that you always should speak your mind no matter how much a person may belittle you. I wanted to pump my fist in the air with that one.
I also weirdly didn't mind the love triangle but I reckon it could've been executed a little bit better when feelings for the other party were developed more. I felt like one particular scene could've been dragged out a little more but instead, it felt slightly rushed with how feelings and emotions were explored. That being said, overall, I was generally happy with the characterisation of all the characters and I felt like they all had well-rounded backstories and character development.
All in all, a very good book with amazing characters and a story that I genuinely enjoyed. However, there were a few cliches and few scenes that felt rushed and hence tainted my review score.
