I really enjoyed this book. It had a great story line but sometimes all the characters were hard to keep up with. I loved the relationships between Sam and Macy, jasmine and Macy and Macy and her little brother. I know this was an advanced copy but I feel this book still needs a fair amount of editing as at times a few sentences didn’t make sense or there were words missing. But overall a really good read

Macy and Sam are unlikely friends, Sam is leather jackets and detentions while Macy is a soccer ball and an oath to never swear. But slowly the two become closer friends and slip into a territory that isn't so friendly,

I wanted to love this book so badly. I have been a fan of Wattpad published books for awhile and i was very excited to start this one. The beginning of the book fell flat for me but I pushed through because I find that a lot of books fall flat for me at first and then as I keep reading I tend to end up loving them. This was just way too long for me.

I really liked Macy but I found that parts of her story was rushed, and we weren't given enough detail but there were a lot of filler chapters.

I did really enjoy that it was a diverse cast of characters and that Macy and her brother, Justin, have a very close relationship.

I think the whole part of spring break when a lot of things happen could have been the whole book and it would have been amazing.

I really wished I enjoyed this book more. But its a two star read for me.

I really enjoyed this book. It was the perfect end to the summer. Sweet and funny and full of swoonworthy moments. I would definitely suggest this book to ya lovers anywhere.

The Bad Boy and the Tomboy is a book about a romance between Sam (a cute British bad boy) and Macy (a somewhat stereotypical tomboy) with a lot of twists.
was a really cute read, and I really enjoyed it. It's definitely a perfect book to read something light and to relax after a tough day. I like how cliche it was - I mean, we all hear about cliches in books and it was nice to actually read something like that. Though Macy was too stereotypical for me - I want a tomboy who likes wearing dresses and stuff like that. And Sam is definitely book boyfriend material despite his rather obvious aggression problems. I really liked how action-packed this book was - a lot of contemporaries have only one like plot, and this one had a lot of twists, and the romance wasn't just thrown into our faces.
I didn't like how quickly all relationships progressed - I wish we got to see more of the relationship Macy has with other boys rather than just a few sentences. And the phone calls were too short - they usually lasted for two sentences, and it might it harder for me to get into that. And Caleb is my favourite character ever - he needs his own book (actually he needs two - one for his theories).

I really liked the fact that there was a girl on the guy’s soccer team and she was even the captain. And she wasn’t perfect every single day, she had her flaws even during games.

I liked the friendships the characters had with each other. I know I mention this a lot, but I’m just a sucker for loyalty.

I didn’t really like the romance between Macy and Cedric, I felt like that could have been resolved much sooner than it was. And the fact that this was a PDF book made the pacing be a bit slower at times, but that is a preference.

The Bad Boy and the Tomboy was a three star rating for me. It was good, though I probably wouldn’t reread it in the future. I might be willing to try another book by this author in the future though. Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the chance to read and review this book! My thoughts and opinions are my own.

I received an ARC of THE BAD BOY AND THE TOMBOY by Nicole Nwosu thanks to the publisher through NetGalley.

This story is very sweet. Most of the characters are very strong and unique from one another. The only exceptions being some of the soccer team as they all act very similarly towards Macy, like very rowdy brothers, which is honestly very fitting. Macy, Cedric, and Sam, however, are very unique and their development is strong throughout the book (looking at you Sam). The plot was interesting from the beginning and never got dull. And the banter! It’s amazing! Macy is snarky, quick with the comebacks, and doesn’t put up with any of the guys dumegg (ha!) antics.

I highly recommend for anyone looking for a melt your heart slow-burn that has some serious family issues that don’t over power the friendships.

I just couldn't get into this book, I'm not sure if it was because of the way it downloaded to my kindle with odd spacing or if it was because I was distracted. I'm sure a lot of teen readers will be interested in the book. I'm just not one of them so I had to DNF it.

I've never read Wattpad stories before but hey - maybe I should start? If there's even a third of stories as good as this one on there it's going to be fun.

You'd think this would be a guilty pleasure read but I'm not ashamed to say how much I loved this book. It's so darn good.

I'm a huge football fan so I enjoyed how it was featured in this book. We need more football girls stories.

The friend group was really interesting, even though too many of them were introduced at once so it took me a while to be able to tell them apart.

I liked Macy as a main character, she's special. And Sam reminds me of a friend I used to have, it brings back memories.

The ONE thing that I didn't like was the cheating. Even if Cedric was technically using her, it doesn't make it okay.

READ THIS BOOK. RIGHT NOW. THIS VERY SECOND. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.

I feel very all over the place about this book. I liked the story plot ( these kind of stories are my “guilty pleasure” reads) but several parts seemed very forced such as the diversity aspect. It felt very surface level? This is not to say that I didn’t enjoy the book.

ARC provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I love this book so much! This was the very first book I added to my Wattpad library, and it still holds a special place in my heart.

Years later, this book is being published and I love it as much as I did when I was reading Macy and Sam's story on my little phone in middle school.

This book is a classic Wattpad enemies to lovers trope, and some much more.! The writing is very easy to read and the story is just amazing. And while the title might make the reader think that this is gonna be some cliche story, it’s not. The characters are much more than ‘The Bad Boy and the TomBoy.” And the “side characters” are just as developed and amazing. Don’t even get me started on Caleb! He never fails to make me laugh. This is truly a story that I will keep reading, especially when I have book hangovers.

The humor. The character dynamic. I can't get enough.

I can’t recommend it enough, especially to younger readers.

Many Thanks to NetGalley and Wattpad Books for this ARC

The Bad Boy and the Tomboy is originally posted on Wattpad. And not to knock Wattpad because I have read some truly amazing stories on that website either from many years ago or newly published from there. This book just isn't one of them. I want to be fair, I didn't finish this book, I couldn't. I got 85% of the way into the book over the span of 2 weeks and I just truly couldn't do it anymore.
Macy is written to be a smart, strong tomboy but even then that falls short, why does just because she plays soccer she is a tomboy? Her personality doesn't meet what is promised in the title of the book nor in the premise. Also Sam is known as the "bad boy" but why? He gets detention a few times but he doesn't necessarily do anything that makes him "bad" if anything that's really just what his cousins opinion on him is. I have such a big problem with Macy and Sam's reasoning for getting together for the really brief period and why is Sam not surprised between Macy and the grandmother he visits. They are so concerned on what everyone else will think of their relationship while never once considering how Cedric will feel. It's hard to believe and even read.

This book was really cute - a sort of hate to love relationship, this "tomboy" and "badboy" go for a journey with one another.

While this book is light and fun, there are some backgrounds that give the characters complexity, and in turn, makes the characters more relatable. I think it would be amazing for this author to do a spin-off novel about the character Cedric!

I really enjoyed this teen romance book. As a YA romance, this book was A++++ it had great dimension to the characters, but they were all relatable. I thought each character was interesting and kept you reading. It was a very fast read, but that also means that it was really good that I didn't want to put it down.

This was a fun albeit not very complex read. It was nice getting through it and I didn't have to think much as I flew through the pages.

The characters were fun and relatable and it was an enjoyable experience reading the book, but they could be a bit better developed to make the overall book stand out more.

The romance was cute and I liked all the tension between the characters! It was fun to read and a cute book.

I initially read The Bad boy and The Tomboy, years ago in Wattpad. The fact that Nwosu is publishing it is absolutely amazing. When I saw this on Netgalley, I immediately knew I had to review it, even if it was going to be different when I first read it. Though, after reading it, it’s not that much different. Some things were cutted out, but it’s still the same story.

Once you start reading, you’re sucked into this portal, where nothing else matters. You’re going down your own rabbit hole, and the only way to get out is to keep on reading.

I love how the characters are so vividly portrayed and so three dimensional. All the characters are deeply fleshed out, and it’s like you can picture the characters in your mind, it’s as if you’re with them. Also, in terms of the main characters, you see all the quirks about them, like Macy: yes, soccer is her life, but there is so much more to her than soccer like how she does photography, and treasures those pictures as memories to never be forgotten. Photography immortalizes those memories you will never forget; it’s shown a lot throughout the book. And that really shows in this book like a particular theme, you could say.

Speaking of which, while this book does surround Macy’s life and adventures, there are important topics in this book that are dealt with. Like coping with death and how everyone copes with it differently; specifically Macy and Sam.

“Moving on doesn’t mean we forget certain things. Instead, we have to understand that what happened and continue living.”

And the book also deals with change. Not everyone loves change, like Macy, but sometimes you have to deal with it. There’s also mentions of racism in the case of Jasmine. Nwosu shows how Jasmine is used to it, and that we’re all human; we’ll get hurt. The way these topics are approached really does help not only the character but the reader too. This book is a light hearted and joyful read, but it does have its deep aspects.

This is a run of the mill teen romance. It was very sweet and I actually really liked Macy and Sam. The banter was sweet and it is the perfect fall read for those looking for a sweet romance.

The Bad Boy and The Tom Boy

The Bad Boy and The Tom Boy by Nicole Nwosu

I have to say I enjoyed this book, but it just didn’t seem like it was the best it could have been. I loved all the characters but there is much that could have been in this story.

4 Stars

This review is on a book I was given from Net Galley in return for an honest review.

The Badboy & The Tomboy is a book that made me want to snuggle up under a blanket on my sofa with a cup of hot chocolate and have this book in a paperback on a cold winters night.

From the start I was hooked with the characters. I related to Macy in a couple of ways but mainly by me being interested in stereotypically "boy" things. The dynamic in Andrew, Jasmine and Macy's friendship was quite refreshing but the twist between Andrew and Jasmine was slightly predictable (all will make sense when you read the book) but I was practically screaming at the book for it to happen. Beatrice's bullying of Jasmine and Macy I felt unfair once the real reason behind it was revealed, and what Beatrice revealed about Austin was particularly horrible. Macy and Sam bonding while playing football or soccer was great at building the relationship between them all the while Macy is dating Sam's cousin Cedric. When Macy and Justin head away to their Nonna's house a shocking revelation occurs between Macy and a pre-introduced character. Which makes going back to Port Meadow awkward for more than one person.

Overall I found this a heartwarming book that tackles many real world things that happen or are here in todays society and I found the ending very satisfying. A great way for the book to finish. I had one issue overall with this book - it was so hooking I didn't want to stop reading and so the finish of the book came far quicker than I would of liked.

I really hope either A) a sequel is released B) a book exploring Jasmine or Austin is released or C) a book about the Cahills or Beatrice is released. I can't sing this books praises enough. I look forward to reading more from Nicole Nwosu.

This book is about Macy - the tomboy, and Sam and it is a fairly predictable YA book. I liked some aspects of it including how diverse it was and honestly just the premise of young love and sports. However, I was very turned off by the cheating aspect and I am afraid it soured me for the book in general.

I read the original book on wattpad and definitely enjoyed it due to the characters which were well developed, I felt like I could really relate to the characters, and all of them were lovable. Sure, they had flaws, but it made the characters really unique, and the telling of the story here was almost as if it were my day to day life.

Reading the published version of it, I find myself a bit disappointed because while the original version took more time to describe how Macy fell in love.... in this version... IT WAS VERY RUSHED. Sometimes it made you wonder, if she was truly in love or not. It is definitely a diverse read with many topics like racism, sexism, bullying, and many more topics relevant to today. I enjoyed the fact that it didn't just revolve on Macy's "falling in love" story. Allowing some of the characters their own spotlight was good, but I wished the original version would have been published, because it really would have wowed readers who are either seniors, or have already passed that stage. It was enjoyable, despite the cons of the new version and I would love for more of the author's work to be published.
