I had high expectations for this book. Of course, fans of Geekerella (*me, slowly raising my hand*) will DEFINITELY love this book! Glimpsed was fluffy, hilarious and so refreshing for me to read and it time flew as I read every page. It was so easy to read and if you need a fluffy book & a rom-com to read at home, this book will top your list!

And the quirky little main character, Charity, was amazing. Her relationship with her sister and her mother was a bit tense but slowly, I was glad that they worked things out (; Of course, her cute personality was interesting to read about💛 And let’s not forget about Noah too! His taste in movies are completely opposite of mine (mind you I was huffing a bit when his family were absolutely bonkers about star-treck! WHERE IS THE ROMANCE??) but his family was so heart-warming and all!

Plus, the enemies to lovers (friends involved) was just, *chief’s kiss*. In fact, their building romance and all made me all gooey inside🥺 But DAMN, the ending had me puddle into gooey chocolate. I melted. And cried in happiness! If I can find a Noah anywhere in this world, I’m all up for it!

Overall, I just loved this book so much💞

Fantastic, Hilarious, Enjoyable Read!

Such a cute book and I really enjoyed it! The first few pages had me laughing out loud! Some of my favorite quotes are highlighted in the ebook on my tablet...and there are sooo many! It had me cracking up for a majority of the text, and it was a fun light read. At the same time it had me considering how I view the world and the potential influence I have on hopefully making a bit better when the day's done.

I know it's a book that takes place in high school, but it felt kinda really mature and adult when these teenagers were handling their typical High School drama. Honestly I liked this book a lot, and I found it really enjoyable to read even as an adult.

Great for fans of fairy tale retellings, A Cinderella Story, the Once Upon A Con series starting with Geekerella, the fantasy genre, fae or fairy godmothers, and people who like to hear the other side of a well-known story.

This book stuck with me, and I really loved reading Glimpsed!

Thank you NetGalley for this e-arc.

This was an adorable read. I wasn't 100% invested in the story, but I did find myself swooning over this book and the writing. I enjoyed Charity and her magic as a fairy godmother. Noah -- the male cinderella -- was a bit aggravating for me at times. The reason for my rating has nothing to do with the story, but rather with my age. I'm almost 30, so reading this was a bit tedious for me. I did enjoy the ease of writing, but I couldn't connect with the characters in any way at all.

I would recommend this book to others, I do plan to re-read this down the line when I get a physical copy, but as an ebook it didn't fully click for me.

The fairytale loving, forever young place of nostalgia that is everything YA and adorableness made me fall for this book from the synopsis, and it did not disappoint.

With a combo of two of my favorite tropes - enemies to lovers & fake dating, in this wonderfully written contemporary fairytale. You will be enraptured with each character by the end, & Noah may just be my favorite YA book boyfriend in recent reads. The perfect word for this entire book is adorkable, I just loved it!

Read this one if you've ever wondered what would happen if the fairy godmother made the wrong wishes come true, or love fairytale retellings with a twist - Glimpsed is truly a unique, modern take on that happily ever after!

Thank you Terminal Tours and Simon & Schuster for the advance reader's copy and for having me on this book tour.

What a Whimsical take on a modern day fairy godmother. Charity is a teenage fairy godmother who catches glimpses of people's truest desires. She befriends each new "Cindy" and helps them make their dreams come true. However, Charity's life isn't anywhere close to perfect. After one of her "Cindy's" dreams turns out to be a disaster, she begins questioning her job.

I have always been on the fence when it comes to retellings. So oftentimes in retellings the protagonist never strays from the original story - this one flips that around so that we can finally see things from the fairy godmothers side. Some retellings stick so closely to the original storyline that you have a hard time finding the differences. With Glimpsed you get the modern day Cinderella but told from a different perspective and with multiple "Cindy's" which is quite refreshing. The writing and world building is smooth. The characters are full of personality, with plenty of attitude on the side. Overall a great read that all ages would enjoy!

4 adorkable stars!

This book was SO CUTE. It was funny and sweet and meaningful and touching, and I loved every part of it. From the adorable characters to the toe-curling romance, every part of this book was addictive and entertaining. And the humour! Ahhh I loved it, I couldn’t stop laughing and every page led to a new treasure.

And the characters! I loved our MC and the way that she grew as a person throughout the book, and I loved the way she began to open her eyes and consider new outlooks on life. And it was such fun to read from her perspective! Her inner monologue was freaking hilarious.

“Didn’t someone say, Failure is the best teacher? Forget it. It’s probably from a Marvel movie. Anyway, it’s really true.”
(Charity’s inner monologue)

And the love interest….. where can I find a Noah in my life? He was funny and cute and dorky and amazing, and I love, love, LOVED the relationship that developed between Noah and Charity. Their snark was such fun to read, and the way that they each accepted that they’d made mistakes was really wholesome and touching. Honestly these two made me want to cry, I want a romantic relationship like the one they have! Cuties.

And the meaningly messages in the novel! Messages about love and acceptance and belonging. Messages about owning your own destiny and understanding the love that you deserve. The messages were gorgeous and touching and so, so sweet.

“Because there’s no such thing as curses. We each make our own choices and create the best life we can.”
(Charity’s mother talking to Charity)

All in all, this book was touching and funny and so, so adorable. I loved it! Thank you so much to the author, Netgalley and Favourite Pages for the free review copy :)).

This book is simply adorable. It's super clever with wonderfully nerdy characters. Great banter in the relationship. You can really root for the two love interests. The addition of magic was just right. A really sweet story with lovable characters.

This was a delightful story that I completed in one sitting. If you like fake dating and enemies to lovers I think you'll enjoy this. Charity is a teenage fairy godmother who sees glimpses of her classmates desires and then helps them achieve them. Her powers are supposed to be a secret. Unfortunately, the adorkable Noah figures out what she's been doing and blackmails her into helping him get back his crush Holly. Charity helped Holly achieve her desire of being the football stars girlfriend and Noah isn't happy. He doesn't like how Charity flippantly messes with people's lives. And the stage is set for romance 💜

This is just so cute and will make you happy. Charity grows and learns how to control her powers and respect people's boundaries. And Noah is just so sweet and adorable you can't help but fall in love with him. This gives me fan girl vibes but in high school.

This book might be the best thing that’s happened to me this February! I absolutely LOVED it!!! It had all the feels of a teenage romance….the angst. will they-won’t they, heartache….everything

I knew from the start that I’m going to love this book. Even though I am more of an angsty, brooding type of guy, Noah is a great dorky guy who I absolutely loved- He’s my new bae and no one can say otherwise.

There are so many things I loved about this book. Firstly I loved the plot of the book…..it’s a great take on fairy godmothers and even though it is YA Fantasy, it feels so much real because of the way it's written. Another thing I love about it is the cute chapter names- I have now realised that there was a time that YA authors used to write these creative, laugh-out-loud, catchy and spot on chapter names which I used to love but I hadn’t seen them in any of the books I have read recently. I love the way the characters are written which made me fall in love with them….and especially Noah(He’s such a dork, and both him and Charity and this book has made me realise that I need to finally watch Star Trek) I would have loved to see more of Sean in the book but I am at the same time not lamenting over it too.

I feel that it's a perfect book with all my favourite tropes: Enemies-to-Friends-to-Lovers, IT girl and nerdy guy, fake dating!! I mean what more do you want from this book…..seriously? It’s a perfect read!

I think that if you like romance and YA and can keep up with the ultra über and modern acronyms then you are definitely going to love this book

Meet Charity. She's a teenage fairy godmother and happily ever afters are her thing. She loves them. She grants them. She will do anything to keep making them happen. But when she glimpses Vibha becoming homecoming queen and makes it happen, everything goes wrong. Like off the rails, threat level red disaster wrong.

It doesn't help that she's being blackmailed by Noah, a theoretical physics nerd with a closet full of cosplay and an obsession with Star Trek. He knows who she is and what she does. Convinced she's doing more harm than good, he wants her to stop with her meddling ways. After she helps undo one of her happily ever afters that took his girl away from him, of course.

The more she helps Noah, the worse things get. Doubt creeps in and somehow Noah goes from enemy to friend to something more? Following up with each of her Cindies, Charity starts to realize happily ever after is far more complicated than she ever dreamed. Which sucks. Because if she can't grant anyone else a happily ever after, then there's no hope for her.

Anyone who knows me, knows romcoms are rarely my thing. But when one crawls under my skin and makes me swoon, I'm going to scream about it from the top of my lungs.

There are quite a few things about Glimpsed that makes it unique, in my very biased opinion. First, it takes the formula most romance books follow and adds some very hilarious twists. I mean, the meet cute involved a pepper spray showdown guys. A PEPPER SPRAY SHOWDOWN!!! It was glorious and messy and made me snort laugh the entire time.

And that's one of the things that's fabulous about Glimpsed. It's messy. And hilarious. But so fucking relatable because of that combo.

Charity sucker punched her way into my heart from the start. She's a fairy godmother, so you gotta love that. And she's relentless when it comes to granting the happily ever after she glimpses the perfect future from a Cindy. That's what she calls her wish makers. Her Cindies.

There are quite a few references to fairy tales, which, I mean, you should sort of expect. But it isn't exactly what you'd expect at all. And I'm not going to explain because spoilers. Just know that I thought the way fairy tales were woven into the story but also had nothing to do with the story was super smart, and very well done, and outside of the glimpses nothing about this book felt magical except everything.

Because every detail was tied to a feeling or belief or thought that teens struggle with today. How to let someone see the real them instead of the person they think people want to see. In Charity's case, she's a fairy godmother so she believes she has to stay distant and aloof. She makes dreams come true but doesn't think she has the power to write her own happily ever after. And how many teens believe the same thing? I'm betting a lot.

And speaking of happily ever after...

Yes, this is a book about happily ever afters. Except, you guessed it. It isn't. From the second Noah steps in with his demands, he challenges Charity's understanding of what a happily ever after is. And man, do I think it's awesome. Because here's the thing. Happiness is complicated. And getting what you want, even what you need, is also complicated. And I love that Miller talks about this head on.

Nothing in life is one dimensional. Being who we truly are or going after what we want isn't always easy. Sometimes it has downside to it, or isn't what we thought it would be. That doesn't mean we shouldn't try. It just means that rarely in life are things what we think. There's a hefty dose of careful what you wish for, but it isn't black or white, all or nothing.

Charity glimpses very specific future wishes. She sees them with such clarity that she believes this is the one moment that will send her Cindies on the trajectory of a happily ever after. She's never questioned them or thought about what happily ever after could even mean when your one true wish comes true at fifteen. I think it's important in so many contexts for teens. That High School isn't the end all, be all of life. That dreams come in many forms and happiness does too. That what we want isn't always what we need. The messaging is so spot on and so good it makes me scream.

I also adore Noah. He challenges Charity in all the best ways. On the surface, it's to question being a fairy godmother. But he does it in subtle ways too, like when he tells her she sees popular through her own biases. He encourages her to grow which I love. And, it's nice to see a smart nerd be confident and outgoing. He isn't afraid to be himself and that means even admitting when he's wrong.

In all, Glimpsed is the laugh out loud book we all need right now. It's wholesome and sweet but the threads of how to face our fears and create a healthy reality are a force to be reckoned with. It's endearing and hilarious and if I'm just repeating myself it's because I'm just that in love with it. Go grab a copy today! Or enter the giveaway below. Or both! Why not? After all, dreams do (sort of) come true (when we put in the work 😉).

Ever wished someone could come and help you fulfill your most earnest wishes??

Meet Charity, a typical teenager. She's fun, bubbly, popular and a Fairy Godmother. Yup that's right. Charity is a proper, full fledged, morden day wish granting Fairy Godmother. When she's not helping her Cinderellas get their HEAs (Happily Ever Afters), she's hanging out with her Grandma, a fellow Fairy Godmother and her mentor.

Now all is going well and nice, until the plan to help a Cinderella backfires horribly. Charity comes to know that all of her Cindies are not exactly 'Happy' with their HEAs and she seriously starts to question why she is doing what she does and what exactly does it mean to live "Happily Ever After".

Adding to Charity's problems is Noah - a geeky, awkward, SciFi addict boy who figures out what Charity is upto and is hounding her to help him impress his crush. To make matters worse, Charity might be having a teeny tiny crush on Noah.

Charity has her own share of problems with her mother and sister and she doesn't always take the best decisions and has a tendency of thinking that her way is the best way. In the same, Noah also is quite judgemental at times.

But these two are sooo good together! All of their interactions are so cute. Noah is a complete nerd and so so adorable! He is also very understanding. I loved the way the friendship between these two develops. Together they try to figure out Charity's abilities.

The whole strongly focuses on giving an important message - One should always be comfortable and proud in one's own skin.

I absolutely loved the story, I loved Charity and Noah and Noah's family and Charity's grandma.

The ending was so perfect. So many YA books are unnecessarily cheesy or smutty. But this book had the perfect combination of a good story and amazing characters plus perfect cuteness which can just make the readers go Aww!
If you are looking for a cute, fun read then I highly recommend you all to pick this book.

Magic, teenager, happy ending --- yup! terrifying combination and that is what bought me. If you ask me whether I have ever spared a moment on fairy godmothers, that will be a big no. Wishes yes, but not them as flesh and blood beings with aspirations for their own happy endings. How does it feel to be a forever sidekick, never a heroine?
Meet Charity. Our modern-day fairy godmother utterly devoted to the well being of her Cindies. The moment she glimpses their fortune, she is on it to make it a reality. Well, until her recent project backfired and is being accused of manipulating her Cindies' desires by Noah. That begs the question: Is the line dividing a fairy godmother and an evil witch really that thin?
To tell you that this book has bewitched me from the very first page is an understatement. Hooked as if by enchantment, I even prioritised it over my work (I hope none of my colleagues will chance upon this post 😟) So what did I love? It's fast-paced, funny and does touch upon all teenage angst and drama without a single dull moment. Charity, once unleashed, is a storm that cannot be contained and her narration perfectly captures this persona. And the love story? So cute and adorable that you may forget your age (if you are as old as I am that is). Haven't I tempted you yet?

If you like:

Modern Day Fairytales
Cinderella Retellings with a Twist
YA Contemporary
Then this is for you!

Glimpsed is like Match Me If You Can by Tiana Smith with the fun that you want from a YA contemporary dealing with relationships.

From the moment that I read the synopsis for Glimpsed, I wanted to read it because even though it’s not a Beauty and the Beast retelling (which is my all time favorite), I have a deep love for the Disney Cinderella movies and will hop on a Cinderella retelling almost as fast as a Beauty and the Beast one especially when the MC isn’t one of the main characters from the retelling.

The thought of the MC being the fairy godmother to all of these Cinderella’s opened up another layer of uniqueness to this story that had me flipping through these pages way to fast to see what would happen with Charity having to deal with helping her Cindies in addition to having to deal with Noah who was inadvertently hurt by one of her wish granting moments.

“Fairy godmothering has been passed through the women in my family for generations, but it skips around like freckles or red hair… But being a fairy godmother isn’t just about the magic. It’s about a deep need to fix things. It’s a calling.”

Charity loves being a fairy godmother, and in the beginning it was kind of like riding a bike, but now that she’s been doing it for most of her high school career it’s almost like clockwork of trying to solve to get her Cinderella with Prince Charming. Likely Charity also has her grandma who is also a fairy godmother to help her along at times , and let’s face it, her grandma steals the show at times (in a good way of course)!

“I have complete faith in you. I know you’ll handle it. Like I said. Get ahold of her dirt. Or do her a favor so she owes you. Or move to Toledo and change your name.”

After Charity finds out that Noah is willing to spill her secret if she doesn’t help him get his love interest back, she agrees to help as much as possible even if it means having to work with him. But, as she spends more time with him, there meetings become less of a chore and more of something that boarderlines a *gasp* friendship. Charity also sees what it’s like to have a functional family since her parents are divorced with her mom working long hours and gone for work trips, her father in DC, and her sister overseas working with animals.

“He looks cocky in a way unique to dorks – like he just leveled up in Dungeons and Dragons.”

With Charity always working to make sure that those around her get their HEA, will she ever find one of her own or will she forever being the matchmaker?

Charity is a rather complex character because even though her home life is out of sorts, she put so much effort into making sure that these glimpses of the could future comes true for the people that she sees. She covers up all of her feeling that her mother is to busy to listen to by coloring her hair crazy colors and doesn’t seem to have any true friends, only acquaintances.

“I flop into an armchair that Mom strategically places at the perfect angle to facilitate conversations that never happen.”

With Noah in her life it’s almost like she finally has a friend (as annoying as he can be at times), but it’s not like they can get to close because it all started with him trying to blackmail her into helping him… right?

“We both go silent. The only sound is the bass drum in my head and the soft hum of the air conditioner. Then, simultaneously, we both confess, “I’m sorry I pepper sprayed you.”

Ohhh, your going to have to read this book for yourself to get all of the tea and to see if the fairy godmother ends up with a HAE of her own!

The below words represent my honest opinion. I was provided an eArc in exchange for an honest review.

Charity believes herself to be the modern-day fairy-godmother as she can ‘glimpse’ people’s future. She makes it her life’s purpose to help others get their fairytale moment and is happy to be on the sidelines. That is, until she meets Noah, who threatens to unveil her secret unless she helps him fulfil his wish.
As they start working together, Charity finds herself falling for the adorkable Noah but she must keep her distance because happy endings are for the Cinderellas, not for the fairy god-mother.

“Because there’s no such thing as curses. We each make our own choices and create the best life we can.”

This book is so refreshing and cute and hilarious. Both the main characters are so adorable and I love the chemistry between them. The constant banter between the two sets the stage for a great rom-com. While Charity seems to be a little self-absorbed and annoying at first, she does believe she’s doing the best for others. Noah is a total geek and an absolute sweetheart and he has my heart! Even the side characters are fun.

Though I would have liked some more romance between the two characters, I totally loved the book! If you are a fan of enemies-to-lovers and fake dating trope, you will definitely love this one!

OMG this was adorable!!! I loved how this story wasn't about the main character of Cinderella but about the godmother! Its always nice to see side characters getting a story. This was a cute and adorable story that will give you all the feels. High Middle Grade to Low Young Adult readers will fall in love with this HEA and not put it down. I know I want more!!

Charming!

I was happily surprised with this fun story. Charity is a fairy godmother, the magic passing down through her family line. She grants people's deepest wishes and everything is HEA. Or so she thinks until a certain someone comes into the picture and makes her reexamine all of her good deeds.

Fun witty banter? Check. Romance? Check. Family drama? Check. Magic? Check.

I think Glimpsed was exactly what I needed right now. It's lighthearted and funny with a touch of romance. Charity's whole world is ripped open when she realizes that the wishes she grants may not be the best thing for the Cindys (Cinderellas). What can she do to fix it? And most of all, what does this mean about her, her identity? Her future?

I really enjoyed Charity. She had the perfect blend of independence and teenage drama without being whiny or melodramatic. I mean, she is a fairy godmother. Cut her some slack. Her journey through the book, realizing what she wants and how she isn't just a slave to these glimpses of other people's needs, was a refreshing twist to the usual Cinderella story. I liked how Charity started off as being one dimensional but as the story grows, so does her character. And when everything comes into question, she fights for doing the right thing. And being the best person she can be.

Noah is of course a perfect sidekick for her. I like his skepticism, which bounces off Charity and engages her as no one else really does in the book. She is a loner, mostly because of the magic she has and it was nice to see her open up not only to Noah but to all of the other characters she encounters in the story.

Also, her family aspect was down. I think having some family drama, absentee mother, running away older sister, fairy godmother grandmother, was the perfect way to go. It showed us different parts of Charity's character as well as how she coped (or didn't) with each of these important figures in her life. And of course, the ending really did it for me. It was satisfying and feel good.

Like I said, it was the perfect read for me during this pandemic. Sit down, take the afternoon off and fall in love with Glimpsed.

I'm not gonna lie. I'll probably read it again.

3.5 stars

GLIMPSED gives us a twist on the typical fairytale with Charity, a fairy godmother from a line of fairy godmothers. Charity can see what she call glimpses of someone's future, and then she works to make it happen, very little actual magic involved. That person is her "Cindy," a Cinderella stand-in, but does not have to be female, and their dream/fervent wish doesn't have to be about a prince. She does have some small magic powers in the ability to "nudge" people, which gives them a few second urge that only takes if it is something they are open to and fades fast.

She does her work in the background, hiding it from everyone else (history is not always kind when people find out there is a fairy godmother). That is, until a boy at school, Noah, figures out what she is and blackmails her into helping him get back a girl that she helped in the past. She doesn't glimpse it in his future, but he knows that Holly would be with him if Charity hadn't meddled after seeing Holly at prom with the popular athlete Kade. Ultimately, Charity agrees to save her other Cindys from devastation at his hands.

Along the way, the tides shift and Noah and Charity begin to learn more about themselves and each other in a way that is emotionally dangerous.

What I loved: The premise of the story was truly fascinating, and I loved Charity's fairy godmother "powers" but also the effort that she puts into make the dreams she glimpses come true. Charity is heartfelt, genuine, and really a truly kind person. I was also fascinated by the things we learn about her powers as the book goes on. I also super-loved the character of her grandmother, Memom, who is so vivid and delightful.

In terms of the romance, if I could ignore the first part of the book and their meet-(not-at-all)-cute, then it was really strong. Charity's emotions and longings were so intense and came through the page so well, that it was impossible not to want for her the things she wants. There are a few intense moments that make the reader ultimately cheer for the relationship she gets.

What left me wanting more: I had a lot of trouble with the blackmailing that Noah does, and that made it hard for me to get fully on-board with his character. The whole conversation felt misogynistic and sexist on a lot of levels. He is convinced his former friend would be in love with him - or that Charity would make that happen - even though Holly was not into him that way or indicated anything along those lines. He also steamrolls Charity a lot and will not listen to her or believe her about what she can or cannot do.

There are also a lot of comments side characters that felt horribly sexist, along similar lines, with the ways they treat Charity and her relationship with Noah, the blackmailer who is forcing her company. Girls do not seem to have much autonomy at this school if everyone believes they cannot make decisions for themselves in terms of their romance and who they like, and while it was something that disappears into the background later in the book, it really bothered me, because Noah is not so different with his assumptions about Holly.

Final verdict: Excluding the beginning of the book, GLIMPSED was an intriguing book that creates a unique fairytale in real life with the premise turned sideways. With an empathetic, genuine, and heartfelt main character, the book takes us on a ride through everyday magic and its potential to make dreams come true.

Please note that I received an ARC from the publisher through netgalley. All opinions are my own.
