Captain’s log, stardate 76173.8: I downloaded this Netgalley ARC and thoroughly enjoyed this nerdtastic read!
I love hate-to-love, slow burn contemporary romances with a huge dollop of comedy, and this story had all those things and more! I'm not a huge reader of retellings and was pleasantly surprised by much I enjoyed this story— the author introduced me to something new! I can't wait to read more GF Miller books!
“The fairy godmother doesn’t get her own story.”
Welcome to my blog tour stop for GLIMPSED!
Huge thanks to___, ___ and Simon and Schuster for choosing me to be on the tour. I adored this book, and I want everyone to read it!
Things I loved:
enemies to lovers
fake dating
magical realism
geek boys
Intrigued? You should be. GLIMPSED is about a girl named Charity who is an honest to God Fairy Godmother. When she “glimpsed” wishes from people, she takes it upon herself to help make those wishes come true. Now, it doesn’t happen with a wave of her wand and a bippity boopity boo; it takes work and dedication. This transaction of wish-making is hush hush so when she’s completed her mission, her “Cindys” (Cindies?) and herself so their separate ways.
But when a boy named Noah blackmails her (threatens to out her secret) she’s forced to help him win back the girl he lost to one of Charity’s Cindys. He wants her to stop messing with people lives, as he calls it. Soon, Charity seeks a way to stop the “glimpses” and her habit of pushing people away. Love ensues. Lots of love, and also lots of complications. But love is messy. And so is magic.
Charity is a great character. She’s part of the Poms at school and she’s pretty popular. I don’t read too many books where the girl is high in the social standings in high school. But that’s not to say that’s he doesn’t grow as a character. She had room for a huge character arc. So does Noah. Their relationship is strange at first, but opposites attract, right?
The one thing that has in common is that they are both so horribly stubborn. But I wanted them both to have their happily ever after :D
This book turned my heart to mush! I found it refreshing, and fun. I’m a sucker for a good enemies to lovers, but this one turned it on the trope’s head. It’s done so wonderfully that you don’t realize you’re in the midst of a YA trope. Not to mention the fairytale aspect of the book. AHHHHH! It was exceptional!
Read this if you like all of the above, buy this if you want a cute cover that’ll look just magical on your bookshelf.
I’ve never read one like it so I can’t comp you guys any titles, but that’s a good thing!
Glimpsed is refreshing, cute , original and fun. This story follows Charity who is a fairy godmother and grants wishes. Such a cool idea right?
Noah had figures out what she does and blackmailed her into helping him grant his wish. Charity was a strong heroine and I liked her a lot! Omg and Noah this nerdy guy who loves Star Trek ❤️ sigh I really liked him too!
There was also some great discussions centered around family ! This was a great read! It’s unique , if you like contemporary then this is definitely for you!

I don't know what's wrong with me! It's just not holding my interest at all. I don't think it's my genre of novel.
Thank you to TBR and Beyond Tours and author G.F. Miller for gifting me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review and allowing me to be on this tour.
Glimpsed is definitely one of books that will get you out of a reading slump. Charity’s magic is very unlike anything I have seen recently in fantasy books. The opening sequence with Charity performing a wish for a Cindy and then being introduced to her “nudges” was so well thought out and set a great foundation for the events that follow in the rest of the book. The characters definitely acted like teenagers, but it was not written as cliche-ly as I would’ve thought. Charity is considered popular and she is at the top of the social hierarchy at the high school for being on the Poms squad. However, the book doesn’t harp on this fact. We get to see more of Charity than what other people may see of her for being one of the most popular girls in school. I really liked this deviation from normal high school teen formula. You also have Noah, who really got on my last nerve in the beginning of the book, but he did grow on me as I continued on with the story. I also really loved Noah’s family and how well their family dynamic was set up as it juxtaposes to Charity’s family dynamic. There were also just some really sweet moments in this book as well as funny ones. These were the moments that were really the highlight of my reading experience with this book. Charity’s inner monologue downright cracked me up at times and Noah’s quick quips when interacting with Charity’s friends made me smile really wide while reading. Overall, I would definitely recommend this book. The writing flows really well and the story isn’t dull or slowly paced. Contemporary fantasy books are starting to become my new fave genre starting with Glimpsed.
Interesting premise. Likable/hated characters. Cool plot. I would recommend this story to others. Some spots I found that didn't hold my attention, but overall, I still liked it.
I really enjoyed this book! I was a quick, funny read, and super site too!
Thank you so much to the publisher and the author for this free ebook in exchange for an honest review!
" If you spend your life trying to protect yourself from getting hurt, you'll end up missing the best parts. Some people are worth breaking your heart over."
'Glimpsed' by G.F Miller is a cutesy book. It revolves around the teen fairy godmother Charity and her ability to 'glimpse' the wishes and wanting of people around her. The book is the perfect YA book with all the wittiness, cuteness, magical, dreamy and so much more. The kind of book I wanted after my heartbreaking relationship with the previous YA contemporary.
The protagonist lives up to her name since she goes around selflessly helping people achieve their dreams on the condition that her cindies (the recipients of her interventions) must be kept secret that she does until the dorky Noah makes an entrance into the picture. Noah, I found, complemented Charity in every way, as if he was moulded into shape and existence for her. His self-confidence reflected upon Charity made her see her magic in a new light. He teaches her self love, the ability and the need to appreciate one's own efforts and breaks down her emotional barriers to see her true self.
The book felt like a soothing presence on a cloudy day. It's omnipresent cheeriness, laugh out loud trope and the blooming romance subtly called for a warmth travelling through the being. One could not help but smile frequently at the heartwarming moments. The book is like a journey, a quest for self-love and happiness, what Charity had spent most of her life finding in others but now she must find hers. And this quest helps in making her own life vivid and enchanting, adding to her experiences and finally finding her happiness.
Rating - 4/5
Glimpsed is a cute look into the history and genealogy of fairy godmothers, as well as how intentions don't always mean that the results will come out how you want. Nice enemies-to-lovers angle.
When it comes to a Cinderella retelling, we often find that the protagonist in the said story will be Cinderella, of course. However, Glimpsed by G.F. Miller on the other hand serves us a story that sheds light on one character other than Cinderella, that is the fairy godmother. For me, it is refreshing for a character that we once do not give a crap about has finally given a chance to be in the spotlight of the story.
With a modern take on the fairy godmother who’s still studying in a high school and a member of the Poms team, Charity has been carrying out her normal-yet-not-so-normal life since she has the ‘gift’ to grant people’s wishes. Coming out as a strong, cold and untouchable character, her reputation in the school is a top-notch one, and is considered as an influencer as people look up to her. Little do they know; this girl right here has the capability to ‘glimpse’ into their deepest wishes a.k.a Happily Ever After (HEA) and ‘nudge’ anything that she wants to coerce them into doing something that they themselves won’t even aware of. Glimpse? She can see a spur of moment of your future, and nudge? If you’re feeling sad, she can nudge in some positivity into you without your notice.
The fairy godmothering has been passed through generations of her family and she thought it’s her top priority to get the job done; granting anyone’s wishes as soon as she gets the glimpses. Those people whom she has helped before are called Cindy a.k.a Cinderella regardless of genders and races. Now, this is the part that I like about in this book. The author sprinkles her story with diversity, something that I feel very appreciated for including diverse characters. Vindhya is the next Cindy that Charity has already glimpsed into; picturing a smart, nerdy Vindhya becoming a homecoming queen this year. Quite a futile one but Charity’s perseverance is something else.
Plot-wise, the story pace is coordinated nicely with a very interesting conflict. While she’s busy working on granting Vindhya’s wish, someone, another dorky, a great analyser, and her future nemesis named Noah, comes messing up her life finding out about her secret thanks to his brain. One of Charity’s Cindies is Noah’s first love named Holly but she's ended up with a famous jock due to Charity’s help. Before Charity's secret is out to anyone in high school, she’s forced to grant his wish too; undone of what she has done to Holly and coupled him up with Holly. But what the future beholds them is something more than a wish to grant for. By the way, I simped Noah from the start till the end. Seriously, he's that guy who's off-limit, such a soft one. And for Charity, sometimes I liked her because of her strong character but sometimes I disliked her because she did questionable things that made me angry. But I guess it did contribute to the plot.
Tangled up in a light rom-com mess, with a main theme that tackles about the existential crisis and everything that seems and sounds cliché but ending up as ‘uncliche’, I highly recommend this book. It’s a story that naturally draws out your laughter, squealing👀, and also takes its sweet time in bringing family relationships and supportive friends into life.
Charity’s journey of self-exploration, and discovering who she was made Glimpsed such a heartwarming read, and the fact that things like found family, banter, fake dating, enemies to friends to lovers, and strong family relationships were also incorporated in the plot, is what makes it a perfect comfort read, and the perfect alternative to a tight hug.
I loved this book with all of my heart. It’s cute, fluffy, and the PERFECT comfort read!! I can definitely agree with the comparisons made with Geekerella, because I read that too, a while ago, and OH. MY. GOD. Both of these books are just perfection!! All the characters are so lovable and quirky, and even though I only read about them for 384 pages, each and everyone in this book, from the main characters, to the ones simply added to enhance the background now hold a special place in my heart. The family relationships between Noah’s family were so heartwarming to read about – and the fact that everyone in is family was a hardcore star-trek fan, and did tons of activities together made it all the more moving 🥺💛 Although Charity’s relationship with her mom (and sometimes her sister) were a bit rocky, it was really interesting to see how they progressed, and to be honest, the way that they interacted towards the end, and sort of just patched things up made me emotional 😭 Glimpsed also featured an enemies to friends to fake dating to lovers trope which was executed SO. WELL. and captured my entire heart. Even though I loved all of these aspects, my favourite part would have to be the ending!! I couldn’t predict what was going to happen and Noah is the ultimate book boyfriend!! The last chapter made me ugly cry and is definitely the SWEETEST thing to ever grace this world!!
Glimpsed was a fun, quick read that shows the story of a fairy godmother who starts doubting the good her wishes are actually giving to the world.
I loved the writing style in Glimpsed. It’s easy to read and flows naturally, making the reading quicker and fun. For some reason, it escaped me that this is the debut of the author until I sat down to read more information about her and I was surprised. This debut is amazing and I can’t wait to see what G.F. Miller writes next.
The character were my favorite part of the book. I wanted to be friends with Charity and Noah. I wanted to sit down and listen to Memom talk about fairy godmothers in history. I wanted to be invited to a night of nerdy extravaganza with Noah’s family. Miller has an amazing hand creating characters that feel real, people who you could find walking around. Which, if I’m honest, is a little worrisome, ’cause I don’t want a fairy godmother nudging me to do anything…
Glimpsed is the story of a modern day fairy godmother, Charity, who gets "glimpes" of your innermost desires and works to make your wish come true. It is her calling in life, and she loves to help out her Cindy's. But, one day she gets a text calling her out for her secret, and she is blackmailed by Noah into trying to reverse one of her past client's wishes - because it ended up hurting Noah. Noah doesn't understand that her glimpses and wish granting is harmless, isn't it? When her latest client's glimpse ends up backfiring, Charity and Noah work together to find out the truth about her powers.
Read this book. I mean it, read it. Glimpsed is one of the cutest, sweetest, and swoon-worthy reads I've read in a long time. I had all of the feelings and honestly want to go back and reread it right away. The plot is so unique and interesting to me, very much in the magical realism genre. I loved Charity, but Noah's character was even better. The character development from start to finish was superb and the writing had me hooked from the very beginning. The story flowed along at a nice pace and the dialogue was so fun and flirty.
The only thing I think that's missing from this story is Noah's POV - but this is generally how I feel about all single POV romance books. I just always want a "glimpse" (get it??) into both their heads and personalities. This book might also come across as very light and fluffy, but it also tackles some difficult family dynamics points and the pressures of high school.
If you love YA Contemporary Romances with a bit of a magic twist, definitely check this one out. You will fall for nerdy boy Noah, emotionally unavailable Charity, and the fake dating trope! G. F. Miller brings fans of Jenn Bennett a new title to rave about, and I am first in line.
**Thank you to Turn the Page Tours, Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers, and Netgalley for an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review**
Glimpsed isn’t your typical high school romance, because I bet your high school didn’t have a teenage fairy godmother! Our main character Charity sees “glimpses” and knows the deepest wishes of the person she “glimpses”. I’ve never read a story with fairy godmothers. This was really interesting and it’s definitely a unique contemporary.
Charity was a pretty relatable main character. Even though she is a fairy godmother, she is also just a typical teenager with issues of her own. I really felt for Charity, because it’s clear she felt lonely at times (her family wasn’t exactly around or supportive throughout the book). All she really wanted to do was make her “cindy” at the time happy. She may have not always thought about the consequences, but she meant well. I do feel at times we didn’t completely get Charity, because how she was described didn’t always match her actions. That being said, I did enjoy Charity’s journey.
Noah was also an interesting character in this book. I wasn’t sure what to think of Noah at first, but he definitely grew on me. I loved seeing a “nerdy” character be a bigger part of the story. Even though he didn’t always go about things the right why, I do feel he had good intentions. His family was a lot of fun and I wouldn’t have minded seeing more of them.
I laughed out loud quite a few times while reading this book and loved all the “nerdy” references. Those always make me happy when I’m reading books. And we can’t forget the romance. I have to say I enjoyed that it wasn’t the main focus from the start, but that it slowly developed as the story continued. The cast of side characters were also interesting and the grandmother definitely made me laugh a few times.
If you’re looking for a fast and fun read that will definitely make you laugh, I recommend Glimpsed. I’m definitely hoping we get more fairy godmother stories, because this was actually a lot of fun!
Charity is a fairy godmother. She’s also a teenager at Jack London High School. Charity gets “glimpses” of people’s dreams coming true, so she has to figure out how to make it happen for them. But when one of her granted wishes ends in disaster, she has to wonder if she’s doing the right thing. Then she gets an anonymous message threatening to expose that she’s a fairy godmother who is manipulating students. Noah, her blackmailer, agrees not to expose her identity, if she grants his wish. After spending time with Noah, Charity has to question if she deserves her own happily ever after.
This story is a cute play on the traditional fairy tale. Usually the fairy godmother is a side character who doesn’t get a happily ever after. Charity comes from a family of fairy godmothers. Her grandmother is also a fairy godmother, and she acts as her mentor. The fairy godmothers who manipulated their “Cindys”, the people they get glimpses of, and didn’t give them a happy ending, are known as witches in fairy tales. I liked this comparison of fairy godmothers and witches, since they are both usually characters who guide the heroes to either succeed or fail.
Charity believes that since she’s the fairy godmother, she doesn’t get to have a happily ever after. She gives her “Cindys” their happily ever after, which she thinks is her entire purpose. However, even when she grants the wishes, it doesn’t always turn out the way it was destined to end. Charity has to fix the wishes she’s already granted as well as figure out her own happily ever after.
This is an adorable modern fairy tale.

Glimpsed is a light-hearted young adult contemporary with a touch of Fairy Godmother magic and the perfect sprinkling of cheesiness and Star Trek references. It's one of those perfect comfort reads that are difficult to put down, and leave you feeling a little bit happier than how you started.
The main character, Charity, is a teenage Fairy Godmother (it runs in her family, you see) so on top of having to balance her busy school life she's also working behind the scenes to make people's dreams come true. Only, perhaps she's not doing as much to help as she thought. She was such a fun character, confident, a bit naive, and selfless to the point that she'll never put herself first. I loved how often she changes her hair colours, I loved her sense of humour, and I loved her character development!
My favourite aspect of the book was how it looked into the dangers of granting wishes. When Charity is approached by Noah, the ex of one of the girls she helped, she finds out she might not be doing what's best for them after all. Charity is only doing what she thinks will make people happy, not what actually will. It turns out small glimpses of people's futures aren't always enough to make their dreams come true. I loved this theme because it showed how Charity was making decisions based on how she would want those scenarios to take place, how her world view shrouded her perspective. If you want to help you need to pay attention to their needs, and how they might be different from your own. It's so important, especially for teenagers, to be reminded that success and happiness don't come in one way; staying yourself while chasing your dreams is possible.
Glimpsed is full of heart-warming moments; it's a book with good vibes. I loved the Star Trek references, the cheesiness, and the banter. From the premise to the execution this book was so much fun.
Also, we need to talk about how the book has so many of my favourite tropes! Enemies-to-lovers and fake dating, anyone? A slice of obliviousness? Longing! I loved the way Charity and Noah's relationship developed, it was natural and slow-building, and the way it finally challenged Charity to put herself first? Chefs kiss.
The only thing I didn't enjoy as much was how easily the family drama was resolved. Charity's family is… dysfunctional at best. I'm glad the book ended on a happy note, and I understand the need to keep it lighthearted, but I wish there had been a bit more depth to this theme, rather than a rush of reveals towards the end.
Overall, Glimpsed was a fun light-hearted read that's perfect for this dreary time of year. Time to brighten up your life with Charity's hair colours, and sink into a fluffy romance.
I read this book within the space of 24 hours, whilst I was meant to be doing an exam. If that doesn't say how good it was then I don't know what will! I loved this book so much! Glimpsed felt like such a refreshing read as I haven't read YA contemporary in a while. Miller takes the classic folklore of a fairy godmother and twists it into a modern day setting. Charity is a fairy godmother, granting wishes to her fellow classmates. Not all these wishes are relationship-based, some are as simple as helping someone make the cheerleading team, or passing a test.
'The fairy godmother doesn't have friends. Friendship is messy and murky.'
Glimpsed jumps straight into the story and sets the scene well. Charity is a character who has complicated relationships with almost everybody in this book. One of her rules is that once the wish has been granted, she cuts contact with her "Cindy". Throughout this book, she takes a journey of self-discovery and starts to understand more about her relationships and powers as a fairy godmother. Charity takes the initiative and decides she wants her own happily ever after, which I loved. I was so hooked to this story and I loved the development of Charity and her mother's relationship, I thought it was very special and I'm glad it was included.
'If you spend your life trying to protect yourself from getting hurt, you'll end up missing the best parts.'
Now, Noah. At the very beginning of the story, Charity and Noah have a meet cute. At least they do in my opinion. Noah later approaches Charity and demands her to help him get his girl back, who was previously one of Charity's Cindys. This book had so many tropes that I love, from frenemies to lovers and fake dating. The romance was a slow burn but it was well worth it! It was such a perfect, escapist read. Charity learns valuable things from Noah which impact how she sees herself and the world and I love the development these two characters go through together. Towards the end of Glimpsed, I was grinning like a mad man!
Glimpsed is such a perfect, witty and lovable read.

I really enjoyed this story! I found Charity to be extremely relatable! She’s not your typical fairy godmother, she’s modern, moody and unique. She also wants what we all desire... our own Happily Ever After.
While we may not be able to grant wishes or have magic wands, we all receive “nudges” and peeks into what our future holds, even if it’s just a “glimpse”!
Thank you, Simon and Schuster Children's Publishing and Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers, for the chance to read and review this book.
Charity is a fairy godmother and she does make sure the deepest desires of the Jack Lond High School students come true. She knows how, because she can glimpse their perfect, but one day, after fulfilling a desire, everythings goes wrong. Charity starts to question her action, if she's really helping people or not and to make her personal crisis worse, Noah, the ex of one of Charity's past clients, blames her for sabotaging his prom plans. When Noah demands she stop granting wishes and helping him getting his girl back, Charity agrees, Slowly they try to understand more about the glimpses and about themselves. Will Charity be able to get her dreams come true too?
Glimpsed was an absolute pleasure to read. Funny, original, witty, with amazing characterization and an intriguing plot. Charity is a brilliant main character and I've never read a book with a fairy godmother as main one, so it was really awesome. Besides she's great and I love her interactions with Noah and how she starts to question herself, her actions and if she did more right than wrong and so on.
The story is wonderfully written and I loved everything about this book, that I recommend to everyone who love a good story, funny and brilliant characters and the chance to dream a bit about happily ever after.

This book was a classic cute YA romcom. The beginning on the story starts a little slow but once the leads met, it picked up pretty quick! I enjoyed watching Charity discover herself and learn to open up. The book had a good balance of angst and sweetness. I enjoyed our geeky male lead as well. He was perfectly adorkable.
The fantasy aspect of this story was really cute and unique. Our female lead comes from a family of fairy god mothers. Although I know Charity didn’t know much about the inner-workings of being a FGM, I do wish we could have learned a bit more about that since I think it’s super interesting.
Overall I enjoyed this book and think it’s perfect for those who love YA romance/fantasy!
