Navy Trent works as an undercover agent / field agent for the CIA. Because she owes Byron Macalester something, when he asks that she go undercover once more to save this daughter, she has no qualms in agreeing. Having been a captive herself at one time, she understands the trauma involved.
What Navy finds is a connection to sex trafficking of minor children.... and time is running out for Macalester's daughter.
This is a blend of cyber crime and Navy's work as a CIA Agent. It's a well written page turner with Navy in the center of it all. She's done things she may not be proud of ... she's got a past that stays in the present for her. She's complicated and has issues, but she will always have your back. The suspense starts at the beginning and doesn't let up until the unexpected conclusion. Although 2nd in the series, this is easily read as a stand alone, however, I recommend reading the books in order.
Many thanks to the author / Netgalley for the digital copy of this techno thriller. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
A unique character, Navy Trent, is a CIA under cover operative who has a violent past and no clear future. She is a skilled cybercrime investigator who had to fight for her life once before and has no qualms about doing it again. Megan Carney has written Navy as a straight forward young woman who is confident in her skills but not so confident in her ability to find and rescue the young daughter of a friend. A good thriller that unwinds at a steady pace to keep your interest.
The character of Navy Trent is well developed and very interesting. Trying to figure out her next moves or how she will get through the dangerous situations she will find herself in and save the young victim, gave me a very good read that left me thinking about the character. It will be very interesting to see where Megan carney takes her next.
This is the second book in the Navy Trent series, I have not read nor heard of the series or author before, however I decided to give this book a go and while it wasn't the worst book I have read, it did not completely hit the mark either.
I am not sure if it would matter of not if you read this as a standalone as I did, but I did and I quite enjoyed the characters as they were rich in detail and the plot was very riviting throughout.
I would highly recommend this book.
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the eARC. All opinions are my own
