This was a delightful book! Kate is a writer for a newspaper called Her Lady's Whims and Fancies, about fashions and society. She overhears an umcomplimentary opinion from Lord Dennison, so she writes an uncomplimentary piece about him. A few weeks later, they spend an enchanting afternoon together and become more than friends. She, of course, feels guilty about what she wrote and can't decide whether or not to tell him about it, knowing he was hurt about it. He does learn about it, and is shocked by it. Does he forgive her? A great story that ended too soon! Loved it!

Historical romance. Enjoyed this story but haven't read the previous one in the series and would have benefited from knowing more of the back story.

Thank You Jen for sending me a copy of your book in exchange for my honest thoughts.

Book Synopsis:
"She has a secret to hide. He has a hurt to cover. But they both start having too much fun to notice.

Miss Kate is full of spontaneity and dreams of fashion. Put her in a room with Ackerman's fashion plates, the makings of a new bonnet, and a strong cup of tea, and she would be happy for hours. But she is not your typical Regency miss. No one knows that she is the designer behind Londonโ€™s famous fashion section, the woman who knows every fashion trend before it happens.

Lord Dennison, the tonโ€™s best most brightly dressed dandy, the prodigy of Beau Brummel himself, is often the subject of Her Ladyโ€™s Whims and Fancies, a gossip column in the Morning Star newspaper. He moves in circles with the most fashion conscious set. But he hides a deep hurt and doesnโ€™t plan to ever ask another girl to marry himโ€ฆever again."

It is so fun when characters are full of personality and spunk; it is even better when this is captured and presented as well as Jen has in this book. Miss Kate and Lord Dennison share a delightful chemistry and had me hooked from start to finish. I have not read the other sisterโ€™s in this series (donโ€™t worry, I will be!) and I was able to jump right into the story. I definitely recommend this clean, historical fiction book. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own and freely given.

This was a first from the author and I was quite surprised how much I enjoyed it. Engaging characters with witty personalities. Definitely will check out more from this author.

This was a cute story; a cozy, grab-a-warm-cup-of-cocoa story that could fill a long winter's evening. Not too deep, fluffy, and heartwarming. When I initially picked it up, I didn't catch that it was book three in a series. Oops. This title stands surprisingly well on its own, though I am sure there were details I overlooked that a faithful series reader would have appreciated.

Kate and Logan make quite the pair. At first glance, both appear rather superficial in their fashion obsession (Kate with her designs, fashion plates, and newspaper articles, and Logan with his dandyism). Not too far in, we learn that they both turned to fashion as a means to survive: Kate as a way to gain some slight independence and Logan to mask his pain over unrequited love. I found their almost immediate fall into love a little difficult to believe, but it was charming to watch nonetheless.

The William the Conqueror intrigue comes off as a little disjointed and untapped when reading this as a standalone story (er, I speak from experience on this...), but it definitely piqued my curiosity! I want to lean more and look forward to seeing how that mystery ends.

Violence: None
Language: None
Blush Factor: None (other than a few stolen kisses)

Part of the Lords for the Sisters of Sussex series, this latest installment finds Kate Standish, the second youngest of five sisters, trying to keep a secret of her career as a creator of fashion plate drawings for a publication called Her Ladie's Whims and Fancies. When Kate meets the fashion-conscious Lord Dennison, sparks fly. Will Kate be able to see beyond the superficial interest in what Lord Dennison wears to learn the true personality that lies beneath the fancy cravats? Will Kate be able to keep her secret way of earning income for her family? Find out in this fun Regency tale of finding love amongst the restrictions of British aristocratic society.

Kate has experienced poverty where she hasn't known where her next meal is coming from, and she doesn't plan to do so again. So when she finds that she can make money on a fashion column, she dives right in - but secretly. That puts her at the height of fashion, a position she enjoys, because fashion fascinates her. The opportunity to meet one of the leaders of men's fashion, Lord Dennison, is much anticipated - until he insults her to his sister. Then she does her best to get her own back through her column. But before that column is published, she gets to know him and his aspirations... Has her hasty revenge destroyed all possibility of future happiness?

I was attracted to this by the cover and description, but found the story itself only 'so-so', as far as I'm concerned. I didn't really connect with any of the characters, and found the links back to William the Conqueror unconvincing (and, to be honest, irrelevant). Overall, while there was nothing particularly wrong with the book, it didn't grab me enough that I'll be trying anything else by the author.

Note that I received a complimentary copy of the book from NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book.

I truly enjoyed ready the charming story of "Her Lady's Whims and Fancies". The title refers to a newspaper, not to a difficult trait of one of the characters. I will read more books from Jen Geigle Johnson. the story was highly entertaining with some clues for more to follow in the next books of the series.
I learnt a couple of things about fashion and the quality of the description helped to imagine the niceties of the beginning of the 19th century. The tone is humorous, I enjoyed the vivacity of the dialogues.
I received a copy from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.

What a fun continuation of the lovely sisters from Sussex. We get to focus on Kate this time, a young woman who faced hunger and never wants to hunger again. I love her desire to improve her situation and her willingness to use her talents to do so. Her relationship with Logan is fun to watch progress. I loved the getting to know you parts. If is great watching characters grow as they learn more about themselves and let go of past pain.

Thank you net galley for the advance reader copy of this novel. I loved the characters in this novel and the sisters kind of reminded me of Austen's Bennett family. I love the flow build of love and that it is clean! The bond through fashion was great and one I hadn't seen used in. Regency style romance. I hope to see future novels with the other sisters!

I love these sisters of Sussex books and this one is no exception. Kate is strong, determined, and resourceful. She also has a great eye for fashion. Logan is no fashion slouch himself. What starts as a bit of irritation between the two becomes a fashionable display for the Ton to enjoy.

Jen Geigle Johnson's books are witty and charming. This was an enjoyable read from beginning to end. I am loving the William The Conqueror mystery that is woven into these books. They transition flawlessly from one to the next and it is like a continuation of the story. The only difference is the heroine and hero in focus.

The lesson to be learned is that you can't always know a person by the face they show in public. This is a lesson with universal application.

I received an eARC of this book through NetGalley and this is my review.

This book had a good idea of a story, but got lost in the discourse. The heroine had been helping to support her family by writing a fashion column along with a sketch of the newest dresses and up coming fashion trends for the ton. She was so good at predicting the new trends, that if she drew or wrote about it, so many people would make it a trend. She never realized anything bad could happen. The hero meets the heroine at the heroine's sister's wedding. He had been looking at a woman who spurned his marriage proposal and made a comment to his sister about how frivolous the heroine was for being so fashionable. The problem was he was just as much as a fashion conscientious person as she was. Everyone followed his styles. He would take weeks to make styles of cravats, tied in special ways and he would then set the trend. He knew all the right people and was as tied to fashion as she was. So, he apologized and it looked like there would be an HEA for them. But, earlier when the hero had been rude to the heroine, she wrote a column and a sketch dedicated to his new cravat style. But instead of being hailed as a genious, he was being sullied as being too committed to fashion!! He was getting all kinds of negative attention and the heroine was aghast that this had happened. But what was to happen next? Well, the story sounds great, right? But this is my interpretation of the story. If you read the story, it is so confusing. The introspection doesn't go with the conversation. Instead of saying what they want to say, the author seems to drag out the story creating dialogue that doesn't need to be there. Honestly, this is a book that didn't have a lot of soul or meaning to it. It didn't even qualify as entertaining. I give one star which is the lowest I can go because zero stars is not a rating. I do not recommend this story.

I enjoyed this sweet regency era romance. It appears to be the third in a series about "Sisters of Sussex" but I did not read earlier entries and had no problems following along. Kate and Lord Dennison get out to a bad start when she overhears his bitter comments about women. Lord D. had been humiliated and suffered a broken heart (or so he thought) when he proposed marriage to a woman he thought loved him and she turned him down. Kate and Lord Dennison's story is a meeting of the minds and I enjoyed their banter and the realization of their love for each other. There is a secret that throws a wrench into their relationship but they get their HEA.

I recommend if you're looking for an easy enjoyable read.

I requested an ARC from the publisher via Net Galley and voluntarily reviewed it.

"Her Lady's Whims and Fancies" is a Regency romance. It's a rather simple romance, too. Upon first seeing Kate, Lord Dennison is impressed by her fashion sense and beauty but she overhears him state that he doesn't think she can have any time left to spend on less frivolous things. Not only is she offended, but he soon learns that others view him in a similar way because he enjoys pushing the edge of fashion. He apologizes to Kate, and they promptly fall deeply in lust. By their third (maybe fourth) meeting, he's riding a horse with her basically on his lap and then they walk together on a public but deserted beach and start intensely kissing. They're both so impressed by how wonderful the kissing is (plus some shared interests) that they want to get married. However, Kate has decided it's her fault that no one takes Lord Dennison seriously right when he has decided that he wants to use his power and influence to help people instead of just set fashions. But nothing of real substance stands in the way of their marriage. The fashions were only vaguely described, usually more as people's reactions than detailed descriptions. There was no sex or bad language.
