The Roommate Problem by Mariah Ankenman was a quick and enjoyable read. I loved the characters and the storyline.

This was a quick read, but I just didn't really connect with the main characters. I found myself skimming through the second half just to finish it and find out what happened, because i was invested enough to "need to know" but not to be fully invested.

"How did this woman irritate the hell out of him one moment then turn around and make him laugh the next?"

The Roommate Problem by Mariah Ankenman was the perfect quirky, opposites attract romance! I flew through it in a day and a half. The characters were so relatable, realistic, and I loved their sense of humor. The witty/sexy banter was on point! Although this is technically the third in a series, it can be read as a stand alone. I have yet to read the previous two books but I'm adding them to my TBR ASAP after enjoying this one so much.

This book was okay. It wasn't an amazing romance. It was entertaining, but everything went by so quickly and was not realistic at all. I enjoyed the quirky main character, but the love interest was kind of a jerk to me. I think this story would've been a lot better if the story was flushed out a bit more. I give this book 3 out of 5 stars.

This was a cute book, with the opposites attract trope in full swing. It was a quick read. I liked both characters. I recommend.

Day 1: they meet. Opposites do not attract. Ok Moira is attracted until she realizes he is her new roommate.

Day 2: if it were me, I would have been looking for a new roommate. She is over-the-top perky/quirky in a not real fashion. He is so grumpy and not fun that I gave up on him.

Made it to 1/3 of the book and Gave up.

DNF.

The book did not really work for me. I DNF'ed it. I wasn’t able to connect with any of the many characters in the book and I found myself putting down the book a lot because it was never really catching my attention.

She's very cheerful in an over-the-top way, he's too brooding and serious. You get the idea. It has a HEA and can stand as a standalone novel even though it's the third in a series. It's cute.

**3.5 stars**

Very entertaining story about a feisty Mo and a more serious August. These two cannot be more different and some of their disagreements and conversations can become quite funny. It is still a mystery to me how such different people survived sharing apartment.

The beginning of the book was a bit of a struggle (some differences of opinion sounded a bit critical for me), but there was a good chemistry (and good intentions!) between these two. They find their ways to adapt to their differences.

In sum, a cute light romance with a bit of banter. Even being part of a series, it can be read as a standalone…

The Roommate Problem is the third in a series but can easily be read as a standalone. That being said, do not miss the other two in the series because they have turned into some of my absolute favorites.

Moira and her friends own the Mile High Happiness wedding planning business and it is finally her turn to find love and a happily ever after. Enter Austin, the neat freak grandson of one of their floral vendors.

It is a quick and satisfying read, highly recommend.

Mo, short for Moira, and August are complete opposites. Mo has a sunny personality and practices the power of positive thinking. August tends to be overly serious and grumpy. Despite their differences, they become friends and more. Neither expect their relationship to last more than the six months that August plans to be in Denver. Can complete opposites blend their personalities and overcome numerous obstacles to find love?

I really enjoyed this story. I loved the opposites attract, roommates falling in love story that this way. Mariah Ankenman just knows how to make a story hit me just right. The reason it took me so long to read it was because I have been in a reading slump. But that doesn't mean that I didn't enjoy this book a lot!

2.5 stars (rounded up because of it laugh-out-loud moments)

The opposites attract trope is one of my favorite stories to read so when I was approved to review this book, I jumped at the chance immediately.

Moira is looking for a roommate but hasn’t had any luck finding one, so when her old friend suggests she gives her grandson a try, she accepts. August, however, didn’t know what to expect of his roommate Mo, but it sure wasn’t a quirky, sunshiny woman who pushed all his buttons.

I enjoyed when August and Moira met and I felt myself like I had found a great story to invest myself in. However, within a few chapters both Moira and August were getting on my nerves. I accept Moira was the half glass full type of girl, with her cheeriness and bright outlook in life, but I found she was too over the top. I don’t know, I just could not connect with her enough to invest myself in the story. And then there was August. I liked that he wasn’t the alpha-male type you find in every story—he was serious and particular, which I could accept. But somewhere in between them meeting and hooking up, I started to see him as a whiny, uncompromising jerk.

Thankfully, I was able to get over my dislike of the characters enough to see them through their romance. And although it was interesting to see them come together, there was a lot of telling and not enough showing for my liking.

All in all, this was a sweet, funny romance between cheery (too much for me) heroine and a brooding (not in a sexy way to me) hero.

The Roommate Problem!

This book was a fast, cute read. The premise is a good standard, but the characters are what make this book fun. I’ve been reading a number of new to me authors, and I’m finding a lot of them are writing in a style that looks like a manual. This author, writes in a style that pulls you into the story and helps you “feel” what the characters are “feeling”.

August arrives in town to help his grandmother Agatha with her flower shop. Well, he actually wants to convince her to sell and move near him to relax and enjoy her fading years. But Agatha has other plans! She sets up August to sublet an apartment with her friend Mo. but Mo is not what August is expecting! She’s female for one! And she lives in a mess! (he’s a little OCD about cleanliness). Mo is an outgoing hippie-like woman, while August is a quiet introvert. They couldn’t be more opposite! But, as is often the case, Mo needs a little August to improve her life, and August needs a little Mo! Or a lot!

I received an advanced copy of this book on netgalley for an honest and voluntary review.

I loved Mo. I loved August. I loved Agatha.
Really, there was a WHOLE LOT OF LOVE going on here!

The "meet cute" of him (August...aka Grumpy Gus Gus...HA!) arriving in town to help his grandmother (Agatha...such a doll!) with her flower shop and landing on the doorstep of Mo (Moira...aka Sunshine!) expecting a dude, and getting...someone is who SO not a dude, was PRICELESS! If his jaw dropped any harder, it'd have landed off the page...not to mention the sparks that were shooting between them that we readers were already dodging! Leave it to the meddling, but well intended actions of a loving grandmother to lead these two seemingly polar opposites together...with potentially explosive results!

The BIG SECRET (or should I say secrets?) gave us a plot point to count on being revealed to the other party at some instance along their six month timeline...and I'm not just talking about selling the shop talk, or retirement, or the adult activities that these two may or may not get up to! No, it's bigger than that...with much higher stakes involved when their walls start tumbling down. Be prepared for some shout outs, over reactions, and broken hearts...but feel secure in the fact that sometimes things have to be taken to their smallest parts before they can be rebuilt stronger than ever.

So, if you're in the mood for UBER WATT SPARKAGE, characters you won't want to let go, a few laughs, a dozen smiles, and an ending that feels just right...stop what you're doing to GRAB THIS BOOK!

What a problem to have! Loved the story of Mo and August. Mo is fantastic! She's fun and quirky and kept the story flowing. August... oh well, he's got a little bit of grumpy, a little bit of sweet and caring. I enjoyed their story, Mo pulling August out of his comfort zone, having fun and enjoying life. This is a great read and I will be digging in to the other books in this series.

This was lighthearted, easy to read, rom com fun. August and Mo's story of opposites attract was fun to follow along. If you're looking for a good beach read, or something that doesn't have too much depth - but is fun with romance thrown in, this is it!

So I am in the minority here I did not love this story. I found the two main characters too much and I didn't connect to them. I do love this author which is why I wanted to read this story and I did read the previous books in the series and loved them both. But I found Mo just too cute and perky and kinda annoying. August seemed very stiff and boring and I did not like him either. I confess I stopped reading midway because I found the characters too annoying.

“The Roommate Problem” is the third, and sadly last, in the Mile High Happiness trilogy. I was sorry to see it end, but thrilled to finally read Mo’s story. After her friends both found their happy-ever-after, it was definitely time for Mo to discover her soul mate. (I do want to mention that this book can be read on it’s own, though I highly recommend the first two.) Mo was a great character, a free-spirit who believes in being happy and embracing life to it’s fullest. So it seemed her perfect match would have to be someone who was her opposite. August is a strait-laced, serious guy who gets conned into sharing an apartment with Mo by his meddling grandmother. He has definite plans, and none of them include a woman like Moira “Mo” Rossi. Slowly but surely these two seeming opposites find that there is a lot to be said for compromise. It was fun to watch these two navigate romantic waters. They each gave and took in equal measure and it was sweet to see two people who thought they were all wrong for one another discover that nothing could be more right than being together. Sunshine and Grumpy Gus Gus stole my heart, and I think they will take yours too. I highly recommend this book.
