What a charming read! Delightful beach reading. This is such a fun rom-com based on the roommate trope. Very cute!.
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for my ARC. All opinions are my own.
Moira "Mo" Rossi is all about being positive, optimistic and sunshine. She's on the search for a roommate and has come across some really creepy ones. August Porter, Moira's new roommate is the exact opposite of him - messy and irrational. He also expected her to be a male. Soon he realizes that she just might be what he was missing in his life and he thinks it might not be the worst idea to fall into bed with her. But will the secret one of them is keeping from the other turn their attraction into disaster??
I really enjoyed this book! It was a quick, fun and steamy read. I enjoyed the characters and the story. There was a perfect amount of humor and emotion.
I love the Mile High Happiness series and The Roommate Problem was the perfect final book. We met Mo in the previous two books and I was excited for the free spirit's story. I am happy to say it did not disappoint! Mo and August could not have been more different but for some reason they just fit. This was a short and cute story and I will definitely read more from this author.
We get opposites attract with this book and I tend to enjoy those as I did with this one. Moira was the happy go lucky girl who saw the best in everyone but unfortunately for her ends up with a whole lot of jerks and weirdos. She finally gets one who is cute and she was excited until he moves in. August was the yeah judgmental on contact, thinking she is just a mess until he realizes there is so much more to her than he originally thought and what he sees is much to his liking.
Oh how i loved the crazy, sweet, bubbly sensation known as Mo. She is the cutest, although a little pushy (in the most fun way), and wants everyone to be happy. I love how she just went full pedal to the metal in trying to get August to love her town, because that is her personality and due to her love for his grandmother. Her relationship with Agatha was so sweet and really makes me miss my grandma. I was glad to see Moira and August get to become friends while fighting their strong chemistry. They really are a good match who kinda settle the other. There were a few scenes where my eyes became teary and my heart felt for both. But thankfully we get our happy ending that makes the journey all worth it.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher through Netgalley.
The Roommate Problem is Mariah Ankenman’s third book in the Mile High Happiness Series. I enjoyed reading Mo and August’s story. Even though August was more than grumpy all the way through, Mo was a delight with her happier than ever personality. This opposite-attract love story had many Hilarious moments but also had many warm and sweet moments.
A ginger male lead? Yes.
A GRUMPY ginger male lead? Yes PLEASE.
I absolutely adore this odd couple. She is messy, free-spirited, junk-food, and sunshine! He is a clean freak, healthy-eater, control freak with a grumpy attitude. But, OH, these two!
One wonderful part of this book, for me, was the heroine (Mo) starts out to just be friends with the hero (August). She has no ulterior motive. She is not trying to get him into bed. She is just a sweet girl who wants all around her to be happy! Watching Mo loosen up this grumpy guy is pure fun!
I also loved that the conflict in this story is one the reader can see all sides of. There isn't a "good guy" and a "bad guy". And when these two finally come together it is Swoon-Face-5000! This book is sweet, steamy, and sexy.
I received an ARC of this title in exchange for my honest review.
Oh, these two were a fun pair. They couldn't be more opposite: he's grumpy, she sunshine all the time, he likes all things green, she loves anything with carbs, he likes tidy, she's messy.
He wants to sell his grandmother's shop and leave as soon as possible. He's only a temporary roommate. When they begin sleeping together, this was supposed to be easy. No feelings.
Moira wants him to stay. At first, it's because she needs a roommate. She adores his grandmother and disagrees with his plan.
What August doesn't know is the secret Moira is keeping from him. The longer they stay together, the deeper their feelings go, and the harder it gets for Moira to tell him the truth.
I really like how they wanted each other to like things the other doesn't. Being outside, eating cauliflower pizza... It was a fun, cute read.
4 stars.
A fun story with unique characters that can make you smile. You will certainly find yourself amused over Moira and August’s banter and interesting start of their relationship...all thanks to a meddling grandmother. At the same time didn’t fully grasp my attention that had me needing to know what happens or had me connecting with characters on another level. It could be your great story so I hope you give it a chance.

August hates all things about city life but loves his grandmother so he sucks it up and temporarily moves to the city to convince his grandmother to sell her flower shop and move out of the city with him- he just has to survive his new roommate Mo. Mo is a happy ray of sunshine who never met a person she didn't instantly like and want to help, but it seems like broody August might just be her toughest opponent.
The Roommate Problem is all the best words- adorable, fun, sweet, hot, cute, likable. I really enjoyed this fast paced, super easy read. I picked it up on afternoon and didn't stop reading until I reached the wonderful conclusion- and yes, this has the best HEA I could have ever hoped for. This was very much a character driven story, with just a little in the plot but big in the personality and relationship dynamics. Mo is full of energy and spontaneity, always up for anything yet with a heart of gold as she tries to help everyone. August is basically her complete opposite. He is quiet and reserved, very introverted and has tons of personal baggage that makes it nearly impossible to open up and trust people. I liked watching Mo bulldoze her way through almost all situations and her self confidence was truly a thing of wonder. I honestly related more to August and his quiet introspection, but I loved seeing Mo and August learn to balance each other.
I discovered after I read this book while on Goodreads that this is the 3rd book in the Mile High Happiness series. I am happy to report that this completely works as a standalone contemporary romance, no previous book is needed to enjoy this story- but that being said, I loved the side characters who just so happen to be the main characters in the other books in the series so I will most certainly be reading more about the Mile High Happiness ladies! This is the perfect read for anyone who loves opposites attract relationships, complicated relationship dynamics and a ending to fill you with warm fuzzies.
The Roommate Problem is a fun cute fast read! I really liked the story and the characters. Mo and August were complete opposites but they were able to work through their differences to make it work. There were a few laugh out loud moments that added to my enjoyment.
I was provided a copy of this book for a honest review.
The highly anticipated third novel in the Mile High Happiness series by bestselling author Mariah Ankenman is titled The Roommate Problem. A lovely romantic opposite-attract love story that will warm your heart and put a smile on your face. The Roommate Problem is a well-written romantic comedy. The kind that is sure to make you laugh out loud. I found this to be a lovely read and would recommend it to all romance fans. Definitely worth the read!
This book was sweet, cute, funny and very captivating. We follow the story of two very different people, one an extroverted loud girl, and the other an introverted guy with a lot of baggage. We're immersed in all this craziness and hilarity that involves in two different people sharing an apartment. We watched them fight and then become friends and then some more, but also, we read how they share their dreams and hopes and past experiences (I cried more than once) and ugh it left me feeling woozy and warm.
I was expecting a funny cute little story and found myself reading a heartwarming one.... and I loved it.
"Very thankful to the publisher, Mariah Ankerman and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review"
The final co-owner of Mile High Happiness gets her HEA.
I have enjoyed these three friends over the course of the series. They couldn't be more different but their differences make this partnership successful.
Mo is the sunshine happiness of the group. She's light and fun and always has the positivity. When she needs a roommate and her friend and vendor's grandson is coming to town, it seems like a match made in heaven. Except these two are opposites in every way. A neat freak and a slob, the sunshine and the grump. It was funny watching these two try to figure out how to live together and not kill each other because of their differences.
This series was fun and this book was a lighthearted escape.
A great read, a story of opposites attract!
August is Mo's new roommate, and he feels that he has been set up by his gran, who he has moved to town to help out. Despite their differences will Mo and August give each other a chance?
Great to catch up with the characters from the earlier books in this series too.
The Roommate Problem is the 3rd Book the Mile-High Happiness Series by Mariah Ankeman. I have so enjoy following the story of three best friend who run a Wedding planning business.
This is Mo’s story. She the last one left in the apartment once shared by her two best friends. Now that her best friends have found their happily ever after Mo need a roommate. This where August comes in. August is grandson to one the Florist vendor’s who works Mo and friends.
Mo and August are opposites. It seems the only thing they seem to have in common is feeling they are trying to hide from each other. I love Mo she is always looking for the pot of gold at the end of rainbow. August so different. I loved watching their story unfold this book.
This is a five-star read! I love this book and this series. I highly recommended it.
Mo is desperate to find a roommate so when someone’s nephew needs a place to stay it sounds like both of their problems are solved. August is a true grump while Mo is the sunshine happy go lucky one. I enjoyed reading this book because I wanted a happily ever after for my two characters. It did not disappoint!
One of my favorite tropes is sunshine/grumpy pairing and this nailed it out of the park. Easy to say I devoured this! The dynamic between the two characters brought this story to life. The driving force are the characters and they are so entertaining that the reader can’t put the book down. Mo is such a sweetheart if a bit naive at times. She truly was a a ray of sunshine. August was a grump but he had good reasons. Plus he steps out of his comfort zone a lot so I gotta give him props for that. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen myself so much in a male character before, except for the clean freak part haha. This was the fun, happy read I needed. Would definitely recommend to other romance readers who love this trope.
I really enjoyed Mo and August's story. To me they are the classic case of opposites attract. However, at first August can't stand Mo. He is attracted to her person but her personality and the way she lives her life drives him nuts. Also add in his meddling grandmother and you have awkward situations as well.
This is a very sweet and fun book. that I truly enjoyed. This book is dual POV with great characters.
I received an advance copy for an honest review.
I love “grumpy guy meets sunshiny girl” romances, in general. But August was more whiney than grumpy and Mo was a bit too happy/smiley/pushy. They had almost no common ground except for the love of August’s grandmother, who orchestrated their whole roommate situation.
When reading a new author, I try to choose novellas or shorter reads to get a taste for their style and substance. I very much enjoyed Ms. Ankenman’s pacing and character development, especially since it helped me to overcome my initial reluctance with August and Moira as a couple. I’ll definitely read some of her other books in the future.
My three star review isn’t meant to be punitive, I just didn’t come away from this particular story and pairing to make it memorable enough to warrant any higher.
