Love the illustrations
A perfect introduction for younger children to enjoy
I would happily buy this version for the younger members of my family
Anyone looking for a retelling of the classic story, A Christmas Carol, need look no further. They have found it in Gooden's easy classic. The engaging illustrations and perfectly written text will introduce young readers to this delightful story.
I highly recommend this book for classrooms and libraries
I just love a classic retelling / different version of a well loved title.
The illustrations in this one immediate grabbed my attention and I knew my family would enjoy this style so much. While we have all heard a version of this story many times, this one is sure to be a fresh face for A Christmas Carol, we really enjoyed this one!
I've always loved to read and reread multiple iterations of A Christmas Carol ever since I was a kid.
This illustrated version of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol makes it easy for children to read or to be read by parents for them. The illustrations beautifully capture the essence of the original story.
This was a great, condensed version of the classic suitable for early readers. I really liked the black and white illustrations mixed with the text.
This is a condensed version of the Dickens' classic with some fun and silly illustrations. It's suitable for the young reader and I think a lot of them would enjoy reading this edition.
There is nothing I love more than A Christmas Carol...except a really good retelling of A Christmas Carol. This one was ok. I knew from the cover that the illustrations were a little silly and within the book they reminded me of the Nickelodeon kids' show Ren & Stimpy.
Who's ready for a Christmas story?
Are you expecting cheers, snow-fights, cakes, tarts, and Christmas trees? Well, none of those, Dickens is here to introduce you to an old man who is as cold and hard as your imagination could take you. And he, my friends, is not on holiday for Christmas! Is this man working on a Christmas Eve? Yes, this man is up for no celebration.
Do you think that the ice around this man can be broken on Christmas? Think twice before answering, because this man is the most heartless fellow you might have come across.🥶
This old guy named Scrooge can get all your attempts to cheer him up on the holy day go down in the drain. Don't believe me? Huh, look at what he replies to his nephew's sweet 'Merry Christmas, Uncle!':
'If I had my way, every idiot who goes about with "Merry Christmas" on his lips, would be boiled with his own pudding, and buried with a stake of holly through his heart.'
He sounds fun, doesn't he?🤷🏻♀️
Well this is the guy whom we have to assure that he takes a break on the Christmas to listen to celebrate the merriness of the day.
Judging by his stone-cold heart🧊, it sounds too difficult a task.
Wanna know whether the merriness of Christmas will touch this man or not? And will coldness leave his hardening heart this Christmas?
If yes, then take up this book to find out.
Ghostly Delight!👻👻👻
Wanna know who will come to change Scrooge's Christmas? Oh, it's not one of his friends or relatives, or is it?
It's Scrooge's business partner. But did he not die last year? Well, then is it his ghost?👻
Yes! And are there other ghosts too? One more? Or two more?
Let's not spoil the fun before it starts. Find out for yourself how many spirits are going to pop out in this book.
Why have the ghosts come to Scrooge? What message would they want to deliver? Find it all by yourself.
The illustrations will show you how these ghosts look. It's up to you to decide whether they look funny or horrific, or maybe gentle.

If you want to introduce yourself to a classic in an easy reading, kid friendly kind of way then pick up this book! Philip Gooden has done a miraculous job making this classic story into a light and easy read with lots of great pictures. This felt so nostalgic and awesome, dipping back into my childhood of watching the film adaptation of this tale over and over. I felt the Christmas spirit and I felt holly and jolly reading about good ol' Scrooge all over again!
What a tale!
Four out of five stars.
Thank you to NetGalley and Sweet Cherry Publishing for providing me a free copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.
What a wonderful adaptation! The language is easy, whilst being faithful to the original story and it's famous phrases and the illustrations are in a fun style that children will enjoy - it reminded me of watching cartoons!

An excellent adaptation of this Charles Dickens classic, not too scary but just scary enough! My granddaughter will thoroughly enjoy this and it will definitely be in her Christmas stocking.
Sweet Cherry Publishing's Easy Classic version of Dickens' A Christmas Carol was a respectable telling. I admit I was skeptical based on the cover art--I was reminded of the old school Nickelodeon show Ren & Stimpy just by the style. However, the verbiage was simple enough and there was just the right amount of art throughout the book.
This is my husbands favorite Christmas story and he loved reading it to my daughter. The classic Christmas carol story special for kids.
christmas carol by charles Dickens is my favourite book of all times and I love every edition of this story.
This book I think is well summarised for the kids with beautiful illustrations and it doesn’t let anything essential behind.
A Christmas Carol has been one of my favourite classics of all time, I loved the story as well as I love Christmas holidays.
This is a book that's aimed for the youngest. The writing is smooth, simplified without feeling like it's missing something: nicely done, as well as the drawings which I really really enjoyed. I loved re-reading this story after a long time and it felt like the first time I've read it. This story has a good moral I think every child should learn!
I love a christmas Carol. It is a classic. I think this book does a great Job in getting kids to read the classics. I would have done the pics in colour. I think that Will keep the children's attention longer. Thank you to netgalley for letting me read this e arc in exchange for an honest opinion
This is a great way to read a classic story to younger children. I would have liked to see colorful pictures. I can understand the black and white to go with the tone of the story but color pictures always draw children’s attention better.
I thought the book and writing improved as the story progressed. The beginning had some language that may be hard for children to understand.
This was a delightful summary of Charles Dickens' masterpiece. It flows really well and my son loved listening and looking at the pictures. The pictures are well done and cater to children extremely well. Some of the images were messed up, but I believe that might have just been an issue with my download. Great book for kids!

Perfectly understandable and we’re at the middle of the year, Christmas is around the corner.
The books is about Ebenezer Scrooge and old and bitter man how doesn’t care about anything else but the money. One day is visited by his only friend (who passed away 7 year before) to announce him that if he doesn’t change his fate will be exactly as him, without rest forever.
And for that he will receive the visit of three ghost to help him.
The ghost will show him his past, present and possible future ¿Will could this visits help to change the old bitter and miser Scrooge?
A Christmas Carol is a beloved favorite in our home as I'm sure in many others. However, I can't help but notice my kids eyes wondering when I read the original out loud to them each Christmas. This Easy Classics book is the perfect solution! The story is shortened but still stays true to the original's style of writing. The illustrations are comedic but also portray the scenes faithfully. This is a wonderful middle-grade version of a classic and I am eager to put it on our children's shelves.
This is a really sweet adaptation of A Christmas Carol. This illustrated and abbreviated version definitely preserves the story in a simplified way appropriate for children of all ages, especially small children. The illustration definitely feels more classic, and evokes a strange and wonderful combination of Dr. Seuss and The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come is one of the more unique characters, and its cloaked presence, first presented as a raven-like image, commands the end of the book. Slightly darker elements like this provide the story with a great amount of action without being too scary for kids- these are ominous but not completely terrifying touches. This adaptation is also very heart-warming, and near the end of the book I started to tear up. Definitely a great comfort read and a great way to get kids interested in the classics!
