This was a dark psychological thriller. It is very intense but very predictable
It started so slowly but picked up at the halfway point.
The ending was very rushed.
An average thriller
This is was tense and it kept me on the edge of my seat for the whole book which is rare for recent thrillers.
Classic thriller setting. I enjoyed the book a lot and thought the author did a nice job of not sticking to how cliche a lot of these books are. AKA husband whodunit
This was a fast paced twisty thriller, with some predictable twists and some not so predictable. Overall I enjoyed this.
Fun fast paced and snappy and I really enjoyed this! Had so many themes woven in and it really clicked for me
An OK read with some twists but found it a little predictable. Definitely worth a read though as well written and the pace was engaging.
What a great book! It was well written and kept me turning pages. Lots of twist and turns to keep you engaged. I'll be reading more from Elena Wilkes!!
Thank you Hera Books and NetGalley for a ready great read.
Twists, turns, great characters and very well written. I really enjoyed this. Hopefully more will following from Elena.
Do you ever really know someone ? Well this book clearly proves that you never do, and your loved ones can always surprise you, and not in a good way. The was well written and kept me glued until the end. Recommended.
Thank you Netgalley for the copy. Lucy meets Paul in a pub and marries him after a whirlwind romance. Then Paul becomes controlling and manipulating. Lucy finds a old photograph in Paul's drawer of his old flame. Then Lucy keeps seeing the same lady and presumes Paul is having an affair. This book had me gripped from page one but I found the ending abrupt and confusing.
When Lucy met Paul, it was as if it ws meant to be. Lucy is a parole officer working on the case of a pedophile who is being released from prison. Paul is a psychologist. They are married after dating for a very brief time and settle into wedded bliss....
.... but then she discovered the photograph in his drawer .... and then there were the text messages. Now Lucy is wondering if she ever really knew Paul ....
A good book even though it is pretty predictable. The narration is quite good.
Entertaining, yet very predictable. A little hard not to get frustrated with the manipulation though. Slow moving at first but luckily picks up halfway through.
I have always found this type of book interesting. Getting into the heads of criminals who are clearly psychopaths. An excellent read and a great ending. 4/5.
I absolutely loved this book, the characters, the storyline... everything about it. Thank you netgalley.
Main character needs a good shake and to be told to get a grip. Marry in haste, repent in leisure! Very confusing in places and an ending that left lots of questions.
Not for me.
Super fun and super quick suspenseful book that you can definitely read in one seating. This is a book that I'd recommend to a friend who wants something to read but does not have to be too invested into it.
I really enjoyed this book and what is clever is that despite being dramatic and exciting it leaves you with an open ending. We do not find out everything and are left to wonder.
Now when I first read this I was a bit disappointed but .... it got me talking about it so it is clever - and unique. All too often we are given every detail so this is quite novel and very interesting.
What sealed the deal for me was after a friend read it and we then chatted about it and as always had slightly different views which made this realise this is not just a good book its genius and I look back now and appreciate the loose ends
Loved this one! So easy to read and lots of twists and turns along the way. Definitely a quick read and one I recommend.
This book is about bad relationships and is told from the wifes perspective. The tension was electric , and had you wanting more. Its a book about abuse in particular emotional abuse. The ending was a bit abrupt and left me wondering and asking questions.
I loved this book! Secrets don't stay buried for long! Great characters Can't wait to read more by Elena Wilkes
