Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
While this book was good, I do feel like it was fairly predicitable. BUT I have been reading so many thrillers lately, its hard to find out with a twist I never saw coming!
This book was such a good read and it had loads of twists & turns that one didn’t know what direction to go in or who to trust along the way ..
Five Days Missing is a wild ride. When a mom leaves her newborn baby and disappears, you know there's a problem. When the husband blames a legitimate history of post-partum psychosis, you believe him....right? This book could not end fast enough with its twists and turns and you will be shocked right into the ending... Five stars.
When Romilly gives birth to her daughter and then disappears, no one knows why, let alone her devoted husband Marc who is left holding the baby… Told from different viewpoints, this book shows that everyone has a story to tell: the husband; the wife and the best friend. This book tackles some very difficult and hard hitting issues around post partum psychosis and is not always an easy read. Having said that, this is ends being a page turning, thriller of a read and, although it is a little slow to start, I’m glad I stuck with it
Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book.
Romilly has the perfect life. A loving husband, and a newborn baby. So why has she disappeared from the hospital and left her new daughter behind? Is there more to her life than meets the eye? Where has she gone? Why has she gone? And is her husband really the person he makes out to be?
I enjoyed this book, it held my attention and I had no problem picking it up to read more. I did feel towards the end it dragged a little, and maybe could have been condensed down, but on the whole, an engaging read.
Synopsis - Romily is a new mother that mysteriously up and leaves the day after she gives birth with no explanation. Fearing postpartum psychosis her family begins to figure out where she has gone and why. Jumping points of view from husband, best friend and missing mother, the story unravels in a he-said she-said fashion
I was intrigued about this story and had hopes that it would captivate me but I had a really hard time with the erratic, tangential writing. I felt like each chapter was a stream of ADD thoughts and I found myself skimming each chapter to just get through the story and pieces together the details. The premise was also hard to believe - that a woman who just gave birth could board a plane, go to France, camp alone and SWIM. And then she goes to speak to someone and that person comes to meet her, sees her swimming, denies her answers to her questions and then leaves in 5 min. I just kept getting frustrated with the incomplete details and I honestly felt distracted reading each page.
After seeing rave reviews for Five Days Missing, I was looking forward to a gripping, can't-put-down thriller. However, Five Days Missing just didn't do it for me. I think my biggest issue was that the book wasn't really a thriller. From the start, I could predict exactly why Romilly did what she did and who the villain of the book was. Knowing this from the beginning, it was hard to keep wanting to continue (there was nothing to figure out). Because of the reviews I had seen, I kept reading hoping that the book would go in a different direction - it did not. It was very slow-paced and the characters weren't relatable. I also found the writing style to be a bit awkward. There are plenty of readers who will definitely enjoy this book; it just wasn't for me.
This is the second book I have read by this author and it doesn’t disappoint.
Romilly has just given birth, so why does she walk away without her baby? Husband Marc is left flummoxed; why would Romilly abandon their child? As questions are asked, Romilly and Marc each have a different version of events leading up to the birth, but who is telling the truth?
A good twisty story. Gripping and suspenseful. Enjoyable and entertaining to read.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing this book for an honest review. I love to read books by Caroline Corcoran and this was another great read. Romilly is a character that is easy to relate to, especially if you have children. The reader is drawn into the story trying to find out who is telling the truth Romilly or her husband. There are times when each character is believable. It is a gripping story and a page turner. You won't be disappointed in this book.
I thought this book was very slow to start, in fact I was about a third of the way through it before the story really gripped me. I think it was because, up until then, there wasn't enough of Romilly. I actually found some of the other characters extremely irritating, in particular Loll and Adam. It's hard to say more without spoiling the book for someone else, suffice to say that, while Loll redeemed herself, Adam did not. In the end I have to say that I really enjoyed the story and had no idea how things were going to pan out. The last few chapters had several surprises that left me speechless. However, the slow start meant that I couldn't give it 5 stars.
What would make a mother leave her newborn daughter? Why would she disappear from her family and friends' lives? As her heartbroken husband Marc, sister Lolly and best friend Steffi try to figure out why Romilly has fled her hospital bed, and where she could have disappeared to, a dark story emerges ... one in which at least one person is not telling the truth!
Dealing with themes of postpartum psychosis, coercive ontrol and fractured family dynamics, this is a compelling thriller. I liked the way it was told from multiple viewpoints - it allows the reader to get to know the different characters, all of whom are sympathetic in their own way, even if you don't know which one you can trust. Caroline Corcoran is really clever at delivering thrilling plot twists, and this book is no exception. A page-turner.
I was a fan of this one! It was my first book from the author, but did not disappoint! The characters were perfectly written and the story left me guessing. Just when I thought I had it figured out, a new twist came and threw me off. All in all, I'd say this was a great thriller to start off the year with and would definitely recommend!
Great book. This is a really well written, fast paced psychological thriller. This book has plenty of twists and turns leaving you not knowing who to trust. I loved the alternating chapters between the different characters and their perspectives as the story develops. Really enjoyable read.

Thank you to @NetGalley, @avonbooksuk and the author @carolinecorcoranwriter for an e-advanced copy of 'Five Days Missing'. I received this in exchange for my honest review.
The book opens with the disappearance of new mother Romilly Beach. This is especially shocking as Romilly leaves the hospital following the birth of her daughter, leaving husband Marc literally holding the baby. Our sympathies immediately lie with Marc who is not only exhausted in his role as sole carer of the unnamed baby, but also in trying to work out why Romilly disappeared, seemingly without a trace. Enter best friend Steffie, sister Loll, Steffie's partner and Marc's best friend Adam and Romilly's mother who all try to support Marc but all he wants are answers. The visiting midwife claims that someone in the house knows what really happened to Romilly and has the answers and as readers, we are on that journey to discover who knows what.
The narrative voice switches between three perspectives - The Woman, The Husband and The Best Friend. It is through these other perspectives that we realise that all is not as it seems. I loved Corcoran's first novel and as I have her second living on the Kindle, I will delve into that soonish.
The subject matter of the book is hard-hitting - post-partum depression/ psychosis but it's handled with sensitivity and the acknowledgments show the extensive research done by the author to ensure she gave this topic the respect it deserves.
Pre order for 17th February.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book for an honest review.
Every mother dreams of the time when she can hold her precious baby in her arms, Romily was no different ,so why did she leave her newborn baby behind at the hospital and run away. Marc is the loving husband or is he ? then there is the older sister and Romily’s best friend and her partner. They are all desperate to get Romily safely home to her baby or are they ? .This is a tense psychological thriller told from each character’s perspective and someone is keeping secrets. A well written thriller and the ending does not disappoint. 4 stars
Fantastic book! When Romilly abandoned her new born baby at the hospital right after her birth, her entire family questions why this happened. With a mother who suffered issues after the birth of her own daughters, could it be postpartum psychosis? Romilly is a very caring loving person who has shown no signs throughout her pregnancy of any psychological problems, so why would she leave her baby. Her husband Marc seems to believe this is the case with Romilly and is determined to get her to come back at all costs. But the reason is much darker and Marc is at the heart of the it. Excellent, beautifully written thriller that is impossible to put down. Highly recommend.
I really enjoyed Through the Wall so I was looking forward to this.
It took a while for me to get in to and it felt a bit forced at the start but eventually the story takes shape and it is a good read.
The characters are all pretty unlikeable which does make it hard for you to care but the story kept me turning the pages.
This wasn't my favourite read as it was very slow to get into and I didn't really care for either the husband or the new mom Romilly. For me there was too much talk about postpartum psychosis which didn't really do it for me. The overall premise was what captivated me but for me personally it fell short. The chapters went between the different perspectives of the husband, Romilly and 'the friend'. Reading it you wonder why a new mother would leave her new baby and husband in the hospital and just disappear. The book only lasts 5 days but not much happened until you get closer to the end. For me I think if it wasn't so postpartum psychosis I could have enjoyed it more. I didn't get attached to any character as I usually tend to when reading books. It wasn't as deep for me as other psychological thrillers
I was kindly sent five days missing by Avon books.
It started off quite slow, Romilly is missing. Marc is left with their newborn baby confused as to where she has gone. It starts with everyone in a panic and I really had no idea what was going on or who was to be trusted.
As it gets into the story it definitely picks up pace, especially as each chapter is from a different characters perspective. The husband, the best friend and the woman. It slowly starts unfolding as to why Romilly is missing, not all that was first perceived is true.
Overall it was a good read, different but kept me hooked and wanting to find out more.
Thank you NetGalley and Avon books for my copy of five days missing.
5 days missing
Massive thank you to Net Galley for allowing me to read and review this ARC! I was delighted when I got an email inviting me to review another one of Caroline Corcoran’s books!
I didn’t except this book to be what it was! There were lots of twists and I was constantly second guessing myself.
I really enjoyed getting to know the characters and they definitely felt real to me! I found myself frustratedly turning each page as I alternated hating and loving each one. My opinion was constantly changing and it got to the point where I genuinely didn’t know what to believe!
A must read!
