Atlee Pine is not on official FBI work because she is looking for her sister Mercy that was kidnapped when they were six. While she is trying to run down leads on the case she runs into John Puller. Together they work on her case and then combine it with a case he is working on. People are dying and Pine and Puller try to figure out who is responsible.
This is the first book in the series that I have read but I didn't feel loss. Look forward to the next book.
If you've enjoyed the first two instalments of the Atlee Pine series you should definitely grab Daylight. I'm sure you will not be disappointed with book 3. This latest novel by David Baldacci sees Atlee and her sidekick, Blum back in action solving crimes, fighting bad guys and trying to bring hardened criminals and corrupt members of society to justice. I enjoyed the addition of Puller from a crossover series that is great. As always Atlee and Carol find themselves in some scary situation, but I realized that the hope to find her sister, Mercy, and the future of the series will go on. Thanks to Netgalley for the advance copy.
Another winner by David Baldacci! Atlee Pine is such a fantastic strong, female character, so I was so looking forward to reading this third installment in the series, but I was THRILLED that Baldacci added John Puller to the mix of this action-packed novel as he happens to be my favorite of all Baldacci's male protagonists. Undoubtedly, Atlee and Pine make a fab team when working together, albeit unexpectedly when Atlee accidentally stumbles into one of Puller's CID operations while still on personal leave from the last book trying to find out what happened to her twin sister Mercy when the girls were 6 years old and Mercy was abducted and Atlee left for dead. It's been three decades, and Atlee is getting closer to finding who took her sister but still doesn't know what happened to her-is she alive or dead? And how does Mercy's disappearance and the man who took her have to do with Puller's case or is was Atlee just in the wrong place at the wrong time? Because bodies start to pile up around the two investigators and the bad guys are out for blood to stop them from finding out the truth.
Daylight is an intense, thrill-ride of a novel that I highly recommend although I do recommend that you read the first two books in the Atlee Pine series before diving into this one so you can get all the info you need on the kidnapping of Mercy and Atlee's quest to find her sister so far. That moment where her sister was kidnapped is a defining quality of Atlee, not just as an agent but as a person, so the more you know, the more you understand her. I already can't wait to read book four...and hope to see more of John Puller in the future as well!
Thank you Netgalley and Grand Central Publishing for the DRC. All opinions are my own.
This book was received as an ARC from Grand Central Publishing in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.
David Baldacci delivers another brilliant book. First off when I saw the first name of the main character I was a little nervous that I would spend a lot of time trying to pronounce it correctly but Atlee just rolled off my tongue and I do have to say it is a pretty cool name. I also am a lover of family looking out for each other and the determination and tenacity Atlee had throughout the book in search for her sister Mercy was really inspiring and not to mention exciting. Then Atlee and her assistant mess up a drug ring bust and are now public enemies number 1, make my heart stop why don't you! I was astonished by the end of this book and if my heart was filled with excitement, imagine the reaction of our library community.
We will consider adding this title to our Adult Fiction collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.
Having not read any of this series before, I was worried I would be missing important information. There are some parts that I feel that was the case (and I will make up for that by reading the 2 previous titles in this series) but this book can be read as a stand-alone.
I like Atlee Pine as a character - she is ballsy and determined to do all she can to make her various missions successful. I look forward to continuing Atlee's journey with future books.
Thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this book for an honest review.
Daylight is book 3 of Baldacci's Atlee Pine series. Atlee is a FBI agent whose twin sister, Mercy, was kidnapped when they were 6 years old.. She has been looking for her ever since. She has finally got some leads but in search of the truth, she has to help with other investigations. It gets a bit convoluted but she is able to pull off layers of deceit and coverups that leave us with a shocking reveal that is more disturbing than anyone could imagine. It ends leaving us even more distressed about Mercy - the question we contemplate is it better to die or live in certain situations.

FBI Agent Atlee Pine's search for her sister Mercy clashes with military investigator John Puller's high-stakes case, leading them both deep into a global conspiracy -- from which neither of them will escape unscathed.
For many long years, Atlee Pine was tormented by uncertainty after her twin sister, Mercy, was abducted at the age of six and never seen again. Now, just as Atlee is pressured to end her investigation into Mercy's disappearance, she finally gets her most promising breakthrough yet: the identity of her sister's kidnapper, Ito Vincenzo.
With time running out, Atlee and her assistant Carol Blum race to Vincenzo's last known location in Trenton, New Jersey -- and unknowingly stumble straight into John Puller's case, blowing his arrest during a drug ring investigation involving a military installation.
Stunningly, Pine and Puller's joint investigation uncovers a connection between Vincenzo's family and a breathtaking scheme that strikes at the very heart of global democracy. Peeling back the layers of deceit, lies and cover-ups, Atlee finally discovers the truth about what happened to Mercy. And that truth will shock Pine to her very core.

I am a big David Baldacci fan, as well as a big Atlee Pine fan, so when I saw this one was available from NetGalley, I snatched it right up! I have eagerly been following Pine's story as she searches for her missing twin sister and enjoying her adventures as an FBI agent on the way. This chapter of her story was no less entertaining than the rest. This was a fast-paced novel that kept me guessing until the last page. I found myself once again rooting for Pine and her sidekick Carol Blum as their case took them throughout the US, finding them both in danger more than once, and I enjoyed their relationship and how their personalities played off each other. So often, writers use a male/female partnership in these kinds of suspense novels, so I find Pine and Blum to be a refreshing change. I look forward to the next chapter of their journey.
I thank Grand Central Publishing for allowing me to read the ARC of Daylight by David Baldacci as I anxiously await each new book. The Atalee Pine series keeps getting better and better with each book. However, when I first began Daylight, I thought..."Oh, no...I know what's happening" and was disappointed. Was I wrong! As, I got deeper into the book, the harder it was to stop reading...so, I didn't. I read this book in two plus days. Then I was disappointed to have it end and know it would be months before I knew the next chapter in Atlee's life. Now, I'll buy the Audible to have the pleasure of listening to Atlee's search for her sister.
I enjoy Baldacci's writing but somehow had missed the first couple Atlee Pine books. This book did contain spoilers for those but I didn't mind. I liked Atlee and the story so I'll pick up the earlier books at some point. While I know generally what happened but I want to see who and how.
The appeal of this book for me was that it crosses over the John Puller series and I enjoy that one so much. I figured it would be a good way to see if I like Atlee Pine and I do. She's a maverick, smart, sassy, resourceful, determined. She's taking personal time off from her FBI job to try and track down her missing sister who was kidnapped when they were six years old. Lordy, does she make progress. No spoilers but she makes a lot of progress and her sister may still be alive.
One of her suspects is also a suspect in a case that Army CID investigator John Puller is working so they join forces. They make a great team and I hope that they will team up again. All of the characters are vivid and distinct, even the ones who make brief appearances. At times I needed a score card to keep track of everyone; the joy of an ereader is that I can easily search names to prod my memory.
"Daylight" was full of action, and engrossing, though the story itself was overly complicated and definitely stretched credulity. But the fast pace and appealing characters helped to gloss over those flaws somewhat. Since it left me wanting to read more in this series, I'd say the story overall was a hit. Your mileage may vary but Baldacci rarely fails to entertain.
I wish I had read the first two books in this series, but I feel this book does well as a standalone . The good thing about a series is you know future books will be coming. The bad part about a series is that at the end of the book - like this one - I'm left wanting to know what happens next!! And I want to know NOW!! Unfortunately, this is supposedly book 3 of 3. so evidently we won't be learning what happens nest. NO - say it isn't so!!! Don't leave us hanging like this!!!
Atlee is a good strong character as are John, Carol, and Robert - the other main characters. The story has plenty of complicated twists and turns to keep any mystery lover happy!!.
But I want Book 4!!!
4 stars

This is another good book in the Atlee Pine series. There is plenty of action, intrigue and danger. The book is a quick, easy read and a solid mystery.
In this book, Atlee continues the search for her sister. It takes her to New Jersey where she hopes to find the man who kidnapped Atlee's sister and injured her. Her journey takes her straight into the middle of John Puller's drug investigation at a nearby military base. The duo join forces and discover that not only are their investigations connected, their case involve a worldwide scheme that jeopardizes the fabric of global democracy.
This book hits the ground running and doesn't let up. Atlee is more determined than ever, and gets some of the answers she's been looking for, but as always, more questions emerge as well. I liked Atlee and John working together, but some of the action is a bit far fetched, as is the global conspiracy. But, it's all fun escapism so who cares, right?
I'm ready for Atlee's search for her sister to be over, so hopefully the next book will wrap that storyline up and she can get back to Arizona and her regular job. Overall, this is another enjoyable book in the series and I look forward to reading the next one.

Not Baldacci’s best. A nice interweaving if two of his characters. But the story line left me wanted by the end.
Baldacci is great at government conspiracy plots, however, this one does not rise to his usual level. The partnership with Puller and Pine didn’t quite gel for me. I might read one more, if we actually find out what happened to Pine’s sister, but at this point it’s dragging out too far.
Daylight continues the story of Atlee Pine and her search for her missing sister in this 3rd installment. I have enjoyed many great books by David Balducci and one of my favorite series is the Amos Decker series. However, for some reason, I cannot connect with this character and her seemingly endless quest for her sister. While I did enjoy Atlee joining forces with John Puller, overall the story became confused and convoluted with the last few chapters feeling rushed with no resolution.
I was optimistic when I started this book but was disappointed in the end. I’m not sure that I will pick up the next book in this series. Thanks to NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing.
Another top notch release by David Baldacci. Jammed packed with Pine / Puller tag team action. Gotta love 2 favourite Baldacci characters for the price of 1.
I highly recommended this book for all Baldacci fans including fans of
Fiction / Thriller genre titles..
Thank you to NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for the ARC of "Daylight" in exchange for an honest review.
Daylight is the 3rd book in the Atlee Pine series. I did not read the previous books and I wish I had. FBI Agent Atlee Pine, along with her assistant, is on leave searching for answers about her twin sister's abduction when they were 6 yrs old. Along her enquiries, she stumbles into Army CID, John Puller's (another lovable Baldacci character) investigative case.
Because I did not read the first two books, it did feel like I was missing the backstory and I was a bit lost in the beginning . It also didn't help that the book I read just before this one had a similar story. A detective was searching for her twin's sister disappearance when they were 4 yrs old. So it did take me a little while to get into this book and up to speed. However, this story was action-packed with a lot of suspense and I loved the Pine/Puller team. I kind of felt that Carol Blum, the assistant, was an unnecessary and useless character though.
I recommend this book but read the books in order.
Thank you to Netgalley, Grand Central Publishing and David Baldacci for a copy of "Daylight" in exchange of an honest review.
The third of David Baldacci's FBI agent Atlee Pine series - as with all of his books, this one again lives up to your expectations. He deserves all the praise he gets.
While marketed as Atlee Pine #3, Daylight is also effectively John Puller #5. Both of the author’s most recent series’ leads collide, literally, while chasing Tony Vincenzo. FBI Special Agent Atlee is looking for Tony’s grandfather, who she believes kidnapped her twin sister, Mercy, thirty years ago. Army CID Chief Warrant Officer John is trying to arrest Tony for operating a drug ring while working as a civilian mechanic at Fort Dix. They decide to work together to find Tony.
Atlee and John get interrupted solving their cases by a shadowy higher-up in the Bureau of Prisons. What is the prison system hiding? And who exactly is Tony working for?
Just as in the rest of the books in the two series, Daylight is a high-octane thriller. The action and twists are non-stop! If you have read the previous entry in Atlee’s series, A Minute to Midnight, you must read this book! Atlee finally discovers what happened to Mercy all those years ago. 4.5 stars rounded up to 5 stars!
Thanks to Grand Central Publishing and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.
This is my first David Baldacci book, although I have read great reviews about his books. I am really glad I picked this book up on Netgalley.
This is a book in the Atlee Pine series, but for me who has not read any of the previous books this still was easy to get into and still understand the background. Didn't feel as if I missed out, but would definitely love to read the earlier books too.
Atlee Pine is a straightforward and a kick-ass FBI agent in search of her missing sister. In this story she pairs up with John Puller who is a CID Army person. The chemistry between them is of mutual respect and camraderie. I like it that it's very professional yet very personal without blurring the boundaries. Both come together for their individual missions and the story goes into the corruption at the highest levels in the country.
The story develops very gradually and kept me glued till the end. The pace keeps gradually increasing. The story ends in a cliff hanger and am already waiting to read the next one in the series.
I would recommend this book to all those who love to read thrillers with female agent as a protagonist and a handsome Army guy in a very supporting role.
I thank Netgalley for approving my request to read the book. The opinions expressed are entirely mine.
Excellent suspense as always. This book carries you through two great investigations that merge together in many ways.
Another great read from David Baldacci.
