Altee Pine + John Puller >>> this is a Baldacci story I’ve casually but insistently been awaiting. Atlee, during the course of her searching for her sister Mercy and solving the devastatingly mysteries surrounding her disappearance, comes across the unflappable and brilliant John Puller. Together, they get themselves involved in a wide spread conspiracy that shockingly ties into Mercy’s long ago disappearance.

Intense, entertaining and typical Baldacci story and resolution.

Daylight is an action Packed crime thriller featuring kick ass FBI agent Atlee Pine along with her loyal assistant Carol Blum. Together the women continue in their search for Atlee's twin sister, Mercy.

Daylight is Baldacci's third book in the Atlee Pine Series. In this book she is on a sabbatical from her FBI role to follow leads on the search for her sister and to resolve the mystery surrounding the night she was left injured and her sister disappeared three decades ago when they were six years old.

This book can be easily read as a standalone as the author easily recaps Atlee's backstory and besides much of the story involves a new investigation that Atlee is sidetracked into.

Atlee receives a promising breakthrough with the identity of her sister's kidnapper and following this lead she stumbles into a military installation investigation along with John Puller (who also has a series of books about him by the author) and finds herself working with him on the case which involves corruption to the highest level and which leads them to a global conspiracy.

Atlee discovers secrets that have been carefully hidden away for decades about her sister that fill her with dread, but she won’t give up.

Daylight was well written, intense and it will leave you wanting book four!

This third installment of of the series featuring FBI Agent Atlee Pine, takes the reader along on her quest for answers as to her sisters abduction decades prior. She takes some time off work with her sidekick Carol in following a lead, in which she literally bumps into John Puller, with the Army’s CID, another of Baldacci’s characters. They’ve met before but not in the same novel. I love when an author will mix up characters of various series and cross them over into each other’s stories.

Baldacci never disappoints me. Puller has his own agenda, as does Pine and what transpires they never would have expected. Although this starts off a bit slow it doesn’t take long to reel the reader in and keep you vested in the outcome. Treat yourself today and pick this up now at your favorite retailer. Just released, November 2020.

Sincere thanks to #NetGalley and #GrandCentralPublishing for my review copy.

Wow! I’ve heard of author David Baldacci for years and for some reason I don’t think I’ve ever read one of his books. What a mistake! This is book 3 in the Atlee Pines series, but I didn’t have a problem catching up with the story. Though I liked it enough to want to go back and read books 1 and 2 for the background.
FBI agent Atlee Pine and Army CID agent John Puller are old friends. working separate cases but then have their cases cross and end up working together. Atlee is searching for her twin sister, Mercy, who was kidnapped when they were only 6. John is looking into drugs being sold at Fort Dix. These are great characters, well developed and very likable. This book has everything you want in a great book: drama, intrigue, corrupt politicians, bad guys, good guys, fast-paced, well written and more. I know this is said often, but it was truly hard to put down until the end.
There's a quote by John Puller’s brother, Robert who is a cyber expert for the Navy, that is something I took away and can’t shake because it applies so well to today. He is talking about social media and what it has become so that he is not sure how our country can continue to survive as a free nation:

"Social media has absolutely nothing to do with the truth. . . . .But the terrible by-product of that is giving a global platform to the absolute worst elements of society. The result is that "truth" is whatever you can convince people it is. It's exactly what Orwell wrote about."

Give that some thought. I definitely recommend this book.

Thank you to netgalley and Grand Central Publishing for an advanced readers copy in exchange for my review.

Another one of Baldacci's amazing books. I love Atlee Pine series. The plot was excellently built and twisted. Once more the author succeeds in surprising the readers. Above all, I love the last 3 chapters.

Can't wait for next in the series, already.

Daylight is the third book in David Baldacci’s Atlee Pine Series. As with most series, it would be advisable to start from the beginning but it isn’t essential as you can catch up pretty quickly. FBI Agent Atlee’s twin sister Mercy was abducted from the family when they were six years old. The search for what happened to her sister leads Atlee to Trenton, New Jersey. While she is about to approach the grandson of the man she believes is responsible for the kidnapping, she inadvertently interferes with an investigation by John Puller, an Army CID officer. (David Baldacci has a separate series starring Puller so fans will especially enjoy the pairing of the two characters.) They join together as Puller’s case gets more and more complicated as what starts as a drug investigation is turning out to be much more menacing.

This is an action-packed book that leads Atlee and Puller into a network of crime that may reach to the highest levels within the government. While Atlee is supposed to be searching for clues about her sister, the body count in Puller’s case keeps rising and Puller needs her help as they both become targets. Amidst the unraveling of this intricate network of conspiracy, Atlee continues to get closer to the truth leading her to discoveries about her family she never expected.

Baldacci is a wonderful storyteller and in addition to a strong storyline, he has created an excellent group of secondary characters that enrich the book. I’m very glad I started the series and even more pleased that Book 3 has turned out to be the best one yet. Atlee is a great character to root for and I look forward to more.

Rated 4.25 out of 5 stars.

Another gripping and highly entertaining book by David Baldacci.
He surely knows how to write a book that will keep you hooked and this one is no exception.
Well knitted plot, excellent storytelling, a cast of well thought and interesting characters.
I loved it and it's highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

This feels like a very speedy follow up to the previous book. Baldacci must be working overtime and I am not complaining.

Daylight continues Atlee's search for her long lost twin sister, Mercy. There has always been the smallest chance that Mercy could still be alive, and this chance is getting stronger. However what kind of person she will be if she is ever found is unknown. It would appear that her childhood was traumatic to say the least.

Baldacci does a crossover in this book and brings in John Puller from another of his series. This works well. Puller is a great character and he matches Atlee Pine very well indeed. The story is very involved and I may have glazed over a bit with all the criminals and who was whose son and why they did what they did. Not understanding every detail did not spoil the book for me at all though.

A lot of people get shot, others get long stays in hospital, Atlee demonstrates her amazing fighting skills several times and the Puller brothers save the day. It is the kind of book which holds the reader's interest from the first page to the last, and now I am ready for book 4.

I’ve been reading the Atlee Pine series from the beginning and I’m so drawn to the mystery surrounding her sister and every book I keep wondering if this is when we get find out what happened. I don’t want to spoil it for you but her sister’s mystery is part of the story. Yay!

In this installment there is a crossover when FBI agent Atlee Pine teams up with John Pullover, Army CID. She stumbles across his investigation as she looks into a lead on what happened with her sister. If you aren’t familiar with the series, Atlee is a twin and her sister was abducted when she was six years old. The whereabouts of her sister is still unknown and the abduction understandingly has shaped her life.

Atlee and Pullover team up for a wild ride looking into a global crisis. And while that part of the story is fast paced with twists and turns, it was Atlee’s personal journey about her sister that I found most interesting. Baldacci is good at creating complex characters. While this series isn’t his most popular, I like it for the strong female lead and the compelling story.

Daylight, by David Baldacci, is a mystery that stars Altee Pine and John Puller as well as Altee's trusted assistant from her Arizona office. Pine is supposed to be on leave from her FBI position but continues to run into trouble with unsolved crimes that need her and slow down her real reason for the leave. Years ago Pine and her sister were "used " in some type of extortion attempt. Their mother knew too much and was forced with her children into witness protection. Altee survived a horrible kidnapping attempt but her sister has been missing since then. Pine and Puller are pursuing different things but are interested in some of the same people who could provide Pine with her long pursued answers about what happened to her sister, what happened, and who was responsible. Read the book to find out if she gets her answers. Thanks to #NetGalley#Daylight for the opportunity to read and review this thriller.

When you read a book by author David Baldacci, you come to expect a certain level of writing that you know will keep you locked in for the entire book. In Daylight, the third Atlee Pine FBI thriller novel, Baldacci does not disappoint. This book can be read as a standalone, however the first two books are equally as good, so I really recommend reading them if you can.

From the very first chapter, Baldacci had me captivated by the action-packed plot. In the third book, FBI Agent Atlee Pine is following leads on a personal quest to find her missing twin sister, Mercy, who was abducted when they were both six years old. While following leads, Pine crosses paths with CID John Puller whom she has worked with on other cases and it appears that his case has some overlap with Pine’s case, so they decide to work together.

We have seen Puller before in another Baldacci series and it is nice to see him again in this book. When an author can interweave a character into two different series, I think it is magical!! It’s like revisiting an old friend. If you haven’t read the other books, Puller is a likeable character and you get to know him pretty quickly in this series. Working together, Pine and Puller uncover a gigantic cover-up and find themselves crossing paths with a threatening killer, all while Pine is trying to find leads on her missing sister!!

Baldacci is a one of the best writers of action-packed thrillers!! In this novel, the action is non-stop and will keep you turning the pages to see what happens next. Daylight
ends on a cliffhanger, so I am already looking forward to the next book in the series!

Daylight by David Baldacci is an Atlee Pine thriller. Spoiler: this is the first Baldacci book I have read. I have listened to plenty of the, though, and loved every one. Atlee Pine is a thirty-five year old single FBI agent who is still looking for the kidnapper of her twin sister, 29 years before. She is joined in her search by her "secretary," Carol Blum. They worth work in a one-agent office in Arizona but are now on the East coast pursuing the case of Mercy Pine. It is a complicated story, best left to the book. She wasn't sure why this had happened although it was looking more and more like retribution for her young mother turning states' evidence in the trial of a gangster. The gangster's brother had apparently kidnapped Mercy but then the trail grows cold. They were about to apprehend Ito Viscenzo's grandson, Tony, when things took a wrong turn. John Puller, an investigator for the military, also wanted him and it appeared Atlee had gotten in the middle of the bust, and Tony was once more a free man. Atlee didn't even know if Ito was a live to question and now her one link was gone. Things went downhill from there.

Atlee is a single-minded FBI agent, resilient and clever, whose one goal was to put away the bad guys. Her secondary goal was to find out what had happened to her sister, her twin, all those years ago. She had plenty of help, but it was still slow going. Carol was always there with her, not an agent, but smarter than most. The clues were old. This crime family had a lot of other things going on so it was hard to get a straight answer or any answer, for that matter. The story is like reading through a maze. Right urn, left turn, go back, go forward, try again. Inching closer but never quite reaching the goal. Like all Baldacci's books, it is compelling and convoluted, but one there, it all makes sense. Loved it. I recommend it.

I was invited to read a free ARC of Daylight by Netgalley. All opinions and interpretations contained herein are solely my own. #netgalley #daylight

Gripping thrill ride!

From the first page, Baldacci grabs you and pulls you in to an action-packed, thrill a minute roller coaster ride of epic proportions. Atlee Pine and her assistant Carol. Blum are new to me, but Baldacci fleshes them out effectively enough that you get a feel for their distinct personalities without dragging down the story line. The brothers Puller, John and Robert, are back in all their hard-hitting, tough as nails, all-American veterans glory who will go beyond the extra mile to keep America great still!

Atlee, still looking for her long lost sister, is sucked into a mystery of complexity that increases with the number of bodies that pile up like cord wood readied for winter. The solving of this ever increasingly dangerous situation requires not only the hard-hitting straightforward bull in a china closet norm of both Pine and Puller, but the highly intellectual computer skills of the third P, Robert Puller.

At the last final second with all available witnesses and helpful friends either killed off or transferred out so that it is virtually only themselves they can rely on, they pull off a one in a million last ditch thrill a second chase ending in the epic gun kata battle of good vs evil... the question to be answered is if good is good enough?

I really enjoyed this classic Baldacci. Don't pick it up expecting to read Shakespeare, this is Baldacci like you either know and have come to love - or are about to!

Somehow, I have never read any of David Baldacci's books, though I have often heard good things. I guess I have been living in a cave or just couldn't add one more book to my towering TBR pile. When I saw Daylight on NetGalley, I knew it was time to see what everyone else has been talking about.
Atlee Pine is an FBI agent, currently on leave and pursuing a cold case that has haunted her for years. When she was six, her twin sister Mercy was kidnapped. She finally has a credible lead, one that will put her in the crosshairs of another agent's case. Every time Altee gets one step closer to finding out what happened to Mercy, something always gets in the way. The more she finds out, the more she realizes that many facets of her life were just an illusion. She is determined to find the truth and no one is going to stand in her way.
This is the third book in the series, and while I wait for the next installment, I will go back and read the first two books. This worked as a standalone with enough backstory that I never felt lost, but I would really like to know more about Atlee. A character who has lived through personal and professional trauma, but one who will not be broken. I am hoping that she gets all the answers she needs.

Atlee Pine has spent many years wondering what happened to her twin sister, abducted when the girls were six years old and never seen again. She finally gets a breakthrough that sounds promising enough to put her job on hold, while she pursues the lead. She inadvertently stumbles into CID's case, led by John Puller, and blowing the arrest he worked so hard to set up. Now the Pine and Puller must work together to find out what really happened to Mercy – and they make a shocking discovery in the process.

This is the third book in the Atlee Pine series, and I hope it's not the last. I have enjoyed the series since the first book, and have felt drawn into Atlee's search for information about her sister. I like the relationship between Atlee and Carol, her assistant, and the way they work together as a team, but I was thrilled to see John Puller, one of my all-time favorite book characters, show up in this book. It got even better when it became clear that this wasn't just a passing-glance cameo, but a significant role in the story. It was fascinating to watch Pine and Puller work together and uncover layer after layer of secrets and information.

You can never go wrong with David Baldacci. Addictively readable, high-octane thriller with a super badass female heroine who puts other kickass cops to shame. The best part about her is that her gender is not tokenized or made the focus of the story. She is just a kick ass protagonist, the best FBI agent in the story, and she also so happens to be a woman.

This book is the third in the Attlee Pine series, but it’s that rare series book you can just pick up and get right into the action. No feelings of getting lost or missing backstory. I knew and liked this character immediately.

There is an overarching story of Pine investigating a tragedy from her own life, as well as a web of other crime and deceit that may or may not be related. So subject matter-wise, there is nothing revolutionary here, but what makes this book stand apart is the sturdy, able plotting, the pulse pounding action, and Atlee’s constant badassery. I am looking forward to setting some time aside to read the first two books in this series, because Atlee Pine is a character I want to know better.

Thanks to Grand Central Publishing, NetGalley and David Baldacci for the ARC & introduction to this great heroine!

I read David Baldacci books because he has developed the characters in his series to such a point that I feel like I know them. I have to find out what is happening in their lives. Each series is built around a central character with a core of supporting characters. Daylight is the 3rd book in the Atlee Pine series. Atlee is an FBI agent who has been investigating the disappearance of her twin sister when they were 5. Each book has brought her closer, much closer, to finding the truth.

As Atlee approaches the home of her latest suspect, she unknowingly stumbles into an undercover operation. John Puller, who has his own Baldacci series, is the agent in charge of the operation. He is not happy. Atlee joins Puller's investigation while still looking for clues to her own case. As the two investigations progress, they will find that at some point, Atlee's case is tied to John's.

Baldacci books are guaranteed to be an excellent read for lovers of the mystery/ suspense genre. He keeps the story moving quickly, while giving readers enough information to guess the ending, but I'm usually wrong.

⭐⭐⭐⭐💫
Another brilliant read by David Baldacci!
I'm a huge fan of agent Atlee Pine. She is 1 badass woman who will kick the living daylight (excuse the pun!) out of everyone.
In this fast-paced action thriller, she is teaming up with 1 of the author's other well-known characters John Puller. I love how these 2 characters work together to get to the bottom of a very sinister scheme that involves people high up in government. All started very innocently with Atlee who is on the tail of the person who nearly killed her and abducted her sister 30 years before.
Will she finally get some answers?

Thank you to Netgalley and Grand Central Publishing for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion

Daylight is the third book in the Atlee Pine series by David Baldacci but the first one I’ve read. He provides plenty of backstory so I didn’t feel lost (although I’m sure it would’ve been better to read the first two books before this one), as Atlee’s backstory drives a LOT of the story in this one. Kidnapping, blackmail, corruption, murder, missing persons, drugs, underage sex, dysfunctional families - the action never stops in this book! I found it interesting that he chose to have a “crossover” with John Puller, the hero of a different series of Baldacci books (of which I’ve read just one) and his brother Robert Puller. The two story lines came together and provided a lot of tension and excitement. Baldacci absolutely kept my interest throughout. I thoroughly enjoyed that the setting of the book was often concentrated in the Trenton, New Jersey area and Manhattan, both of which I know pretty well. It’s always fun to read books set in places you know.

There’s a bit of a cliffhanger at the end of the book re Atlee’s sister, but enough loose ends were tied up to satisfy me. Atlee Pine is a great main character and I look forward to reading more about her.

P.S. Not important but after finishing the book, I’m still not sure why the title is Daylight.
