I did not like the listening experience with this book. I thought the narrator really pulled away from the story I do think I would possibly try reading it physically but I stopped listening because of the narrator.

This was a very impactful story of teenage suicide, the stages of grief, and the bonds between siblings.

It was strange. The narrator did a good job in most parts, did not like a couple of characters.
The story was sad but interesting, the intrigue was not working for me unfortunately. I don't know if it was the writing style or the narrator, but I really really did not want to pick it back up if I stopped.

How did this book make me feel? SAD… Not only did I cry from the grief of the characters but I also felt worried and angry toward Bean who just wanted to know what happened to her poor brother.

My favorite character was definitely Sam in this novel. His character shine through each time someone would mention him. Sam’s spirit (real or fictional) will definitely portrait the Inuit’s culture.

I received an ARC of this novel from Greenleaf Audiobooks through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I was granted a copy of this audiobook by Netgalley, in exchange for my honest opinion.

I want to start by saying that the narrator it was perfectly chosen for this book, was very well done.
The writer manage to capture very intensely hard subject, and portrait them very well, has well the ways the emotions where shown was very realistic. I never lost anyone in my family with suicide, but I grew up with those thoughts myself. I could relate to this, seeing the perspective of love one’s and their process of grief it’s was very emotional for me.

***Warning*** This book may trigger strong emotions.

When a family member commits suicide, how does one move on and continue to live?
Bean needs answers about her brother's death. She cannot belief that he committed suicide because he had had a love for the Inuit culture where each live was reveared. Can she get the answers that she needs in order to move on?

This is a beautiful book about grief and coming to peace with the unexplained loss of a loved one. The characters each walk a different path through their grief so it is a book that will reach many readers.

My rating: 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4.

This book was interesting. I didn't love it, but I did enjoy it. The main character, Bean, was written well in my opinion, and the story overall made a lot of sense. I just wish there was more development of the characters, more connections between different aspects of the story, and more description of the scenes later in the book like their sleep out and the resolution with Skip. I did appreciate the subject matter and the author's interest in presenting a little-discussed topic, so that the awareness of the issues may grow.

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for the audiobook galley!

Winter of the Wolf spoke to me. The book is beautifully written and hits home for those who have lost loved ones unexpectedly, leaving them with many questions than answers. The book follows multiple characters through the process of grieving and how important it is to understand that everyone grieves differently and comes to terms with the loss of their loved one in their own time.

An interesting story (apart from the main characters obsession with her dead brother

The narrator was fantastic, I will be looking for more audiobooks that she has done

I feel that Kelly Prunner was an excellent narrator. Each emotion of the main character, Bean was expressed and I could almost feel the grief she was going through, however I had issues with aspects of the story. I think the author Handler is a very good writer, however the aspects of Inuit were more appropriation than respect. Now I understand how a teenager can think they are respecting a culture but it is actually appropriation, but that never came across in the story and some of the things Sam did, just felt "icky" rather than respectful. Also how Sam died was odd and the way Bean went about trying to prove it wasn't a suicide felt invasive and insensitive to her brother's memory and her other family members. I will definitely give the author a second chance, as I see promise with her writing style, but the execution of the story fell flat for me.

I don’t really want to talk negatively about this book. It deals with some big issues, but I could not connect with it at all. There were a lot of what the efffffff moments for me and so I will not be raving about it anytime soon. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read a copy!

Really felt let down. Wanted there to be an actual supernatural element. The twist was boring. The teens were one dimensional.

I had to DNF this book, I tried to give it a chance several times but couldn’t get very far. The cultural appropriation was bad but the weird relationship between the MC and her dead brother made me far too uncomfortable.
