This is release 5 in the charming "Beyond The Page" bookstore mystery series by cozy author Lauren Elliott. I love this series for the smart independent outspoken protagnist Addie who has a big heart and is very savvy at solving the most difficult of mysteries . I highly recommend this outstanding cozy series and it quickly became one of my top three favorite series. Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity. My review opinions are my own. This is my favorite of the series .

Addie and the bookstore are in the middle of the slow season after the holidays. She is involved in the town ice festival plans for fireworks and ice carving while keeping her bookstore stocked with books and hoping for January sales. I love the author descriptions of the winter season complete with snow drifts and ice. Addie is caring for a friends dog while the friend is in the hospital. She soon bonds with the charming little dog as she takes it with her to work and enjoys walking it. This is I hope a precursor to Addie adopting her own dog soon. Addie finds a rare edition of "The Secret Garden" when she visits her friends home to collect clothing for her. She notices the edition belongs to her assistant Page. The book soon becomes the focus of a fascinating set of circumstances for Addie. that may lead her to murder.

When a body is found behind her store the police suspect her neighbor Martha as the primary person of interest. Martha was arguing with the victim before the murder and the police do not want to consider anyone else. Martha is Page's Mother and Addie is determined to save her and solve the murder . Martha and Addie have a history of a contentious relationship but Addie is setting their differences aside and investigating the victim and the circumstances to save Martha.

The author has a masterful writing style that weaves the two mysteries together. I love the way the clues and suspects abound to conclusion with such intrigue. Secrets and lies are reveled with each step in Addie's investigation. Addie does not suffer fools and does not hesitate to ask the hard questions to solve these mysteries. She has enduring relationship with her friends that always step in to help her. I love that the ending was so surprising to both the reader and to Addie! I was unable to determine the ending and that is very pleasing to this avid cozy reader. A wonderful next in series . i look forward to the next in series. Review cross posted.

I have been reading and enjoying this series since the first book and this one did not disappoint. The entire town is celebrating a winter festival with an ice sculpture and Christmas Tree bonfire. Addie however discovers a body behind the bakery and Martha is the prime suspect. There is also a valuable book missing. I really enjoy the small town setting and the characters. The mystery was good and there were enough suspects to make it interesting. I look for word Addie's next mystery.

Addison Greyborne has her hands full. Not only is she the owner of Beyond the Page, a book and curio shop, but her flakey cousin isn’t coming to work regularly leaving only Addison and her shop assistant, Paige Stringer, during the Fire and Ice Festival. Unfortunately, Addie finds yet another dead body, right behind the bakery belonging to Paige’s mother, Martha Stringer. Worse yet, Martha is the primary suspect and Addie is determined to prove her innocent, no matter how much effort it takes her!

A PAGE MARKED FOR MURDER has a lot going on and yet none of it is irrelevant or overwhelming. Yes, we have multiple red herrings, but we also dig a bit deeper into the pasts of some of the Greyborne Harbor residents. I love that we are getting to see the earlier years of some of the older residents and how those relationships all tie together. It brings the small-town feel of the storyline to the forefront while also providing us with some marvelous character development.

And oh, do I love Pippi! Gloria McBride’s dog, Pippi, practically steals the show with her absolute adorableness and I’m not surprised that Addie falls in love with the little dog. I hope we get to see Addie with her own furbaby in future books! Pippi provides just the right amount of warmth and smiles in a book that takes us into some emotional places. Have your Kleenex handy on this one, as Lauren Elliott is prepared to take you through a gamut of emotions!

A PAGE MARKED FOR MURDER is the fifth book in A Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery series, and wow, what a story Lauren Elliott has for readers! I love how each book in the series centers around a particular book, and A PAGE MARKED FOR MURDER hearkens back to a favorite of many, THE SECRET GARDEN. Oh how I wish I could see the beautiful bookstore window decorated to highlight this beautiful book from my own childhood memories! Lauren Elliott has a magical way of making the books come alive through the mysteries, not only showing their value monetarily but reminding us all of the joy of reading. If you love good books and cozy mysteries, A PAGE MARKED FOR MURDER may just be your cup of tea!

This is the fifth book in the 'Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery' series.

The author, Lauren Elliott has created some extremely likeable characters in this cozy mystery. I have already met Addie, the protagonist, in book 2 who I found to be very smart and independent if a little bit stubborn.

The plot was well thought out and there was a good number of suspects in the frame. The author laid out clues in a way that made each of them a viable prospect as the perpetrator though they all had apparently sound alibis. I was somewhat surprised at the killer's identity as I fell for some of the red herrings so cleverly set by` the author.

The pacing in this novel was good and there was always something happening, so I was certainly never bored! With a very fulfilling ending, A Page Marked for Murder was a fantastic cozy mystery that I highly recommend. I am already looking forward to returning to Addie's bookshop, 'Beyond the Page' in Massachusetts in book six, entitled Under the Cover of Murder as well as catching up on the instalments I've missed. Rating: 5 Stars.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my own request from Kensington Books via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

A Page Marked for Murder is the 5th book in the Beyond the Page Bookstore mysteries and it does not disappoint. This book finds Addie and her friends in the midst of the Fire and Ice Festival, held just after Christmas. In the midst of preparations for the festival, Addie finds herself involved in yet another murder. This murder has an interesting twist as the victim is the ex-husband of Addie's employee Paige. To complicate matters, he is found dead behind the bakery owned by Paige's mother Martha. Of course, Addie becomes involved in figuring out who the murderer is, as Marc, the Chief of Police, believes Martha to be the killer.

This mystery has two other stories besides the murder. The first is the resolution of the relationships between Addie and Marc, and Addie and Simon, ER doctor and coroner. The second is the theft of a very valuable edition of The Secret Garden. Which love interest Addie chooses has been a question from early on in the series and its resolution is welcome! The theft of the book leaves Addie, and the reader, wondering if there is a connection between the theft and the murder.

This book is full of twists, turns, and dead ends, and it's only near the very end of the book that you realize, and are quite surprised by, who the murderer may be. The resolution of the murder, particularly figuring out what the murder weapon was, as well as the theft of the book keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the book.

This is a very well-written mystery and one that leaves you anxiously awaiting the next installment. I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series.

Many thanks to Kensington and NetGalley for the ARC.

Are you ready for some winter wonderland and all things mysterious? Then Lauren Elliott's newest mystery, A Page Marked for Murder, is just what you needed. It's only October. here in Canada, but its already snowing and I'm in the mood for cozy wintery reads. I couldn't wait to dive into one of my favourite series, and find out what the ever intelligent albeit mischievous bookseller, Addie Greyborne, is up to!

It's the Fire and Ice Festival and while all seems beautiful in Greyborne Harbour, there is a distinct air of danger around... especially with old family returning and causing trouble! Conflict comes in the form of ex-husband, Brett, and Paige's father, Ken, back in town. Clearly someone doesn't want them around, especially when Brett turns up dead in his mother-in-law's bakery! With Martha pegged for the crime, Addie must investigate to find the real killer.

Wow! This is a series that I've been following since the first book, and I love every new addition every more! Addie is a delightful amateur sleuth. She's intelligent and cares about the people in both her family, and friends-turned-family. She's had a somewhat rocky past with Martha, but she knows she's not a killer and she sets out to clear her name.

It was fun to walk alongside Addie as she tries to solve the mystery... and better yet, figure out what the murder weapon is! Lauren Elliott writes such intelligent, witty whodunnits and she kept me guessing right until the very end.

Alongside the mystery is the interesting characters that make up Greyborne Harbour, and my heart always soars as I learn more about them. I love that the author has stepped away from the traditional romantic pairing of "sleuth and police officer". Addie is a perfect match for coroner-doctor Simon. He's gentle in his encouragement of her sleuthing, and helps her solve the crime! Definitely a match made in heaven!

If you love books within books, then this series needs to be at the top of your list! A Page Marked for Murder is another delightful book in this series, and one you shouldn't miss!

I think it is just personal opinion and preference, but this book was just lacking something for me. I liked the way it was written and I liked the overall writing, but it just didn't get a full 5-stars for me. I did enjoy the cover art; it really pulled me in and made me want to read this book. Surely, other people did love it and I am very thankful to have read it. Trust me, I really wanted to love this one because the premise sounds great!

Another great entry into this cozy mystery series. A wonderful setting and great characters. A strong who-dun-it that left we turning pages quickly.

I requested this ARC in order to feature it in my newsletter for cataloguers, which always includes a bibliomystery in its book recommendations.

This is the first of this series I’ve read, and it struck me as a bit more morally challenging than most cozy mysteries - I found the reason for the murder to be quite difficult to swallow down as blithely as all the lead characters do. It’s difficult to discuss without spoilers, but suffice it to say this is the first time I’ve been left in the cozy genre with the big question, “Is it ever OK to take another person’s life?”

I did feel that I was missing some things by not having read previous books in the series - especially the relationship between the protagonist, Addie Grayson, and her business neighbour Martha, who is also the mother of Addie’s assistant, Paige. The tolerance Addie shows to her other assistant, Kalea, who is also her cousin and roommate was a real mystery to me - the two women seem to have little in common, and Kalea doesn’t even complete her contracted hours at work.

However, the central mysteries - the murder itself and the disappearance of a first American edition of The Secret Garden - were not impacted by my lack of background knowledge, and a great strength of “cozy crime” as a genre is the picture-perfect small town setting, which with adaptations for local geography, can slot into our imaginative landscape alongside all the other backdrops to novels in the genre. With the ice sculpture festival and the emphasis in this book between mothers and daughters (Martha and her five children), it was also possible to borrow a glow from Stars Hollow, the setting for the Gilmore Girls.

All in all, this was a good quick read and should do well over the festive season. I’d describe it as cozy crime with an unexpected but not unwelcome side order of moral maze. I’m glad I decided to feature this book in my newsletter and grateful for the ARC.

I will leave a review on Amazon or B&N on Oct. 27, 2020

A Page Marked for Murder was a action packed cozy, that will keep you turning the pages until the very end. The fifth book in the series, the author has created a series that is fun of fun and friendship that have stood the test of time. Addie just can't turn away when a mystery is around, whether the police want her help or not. This book has plenty of suspects, and I never suspected the actual culprit. I would certainly recommend this cozy to others.

I received a ARC from NetGalley and Kensington Books and am under no obligation to leave a favorable review. All opinions expressed here are my own.

Love these stories with Addie, Marc and Simon. I recommend reading these in order so you can get a feel of the history of the characters and their past relationships. It's very helpful in this instance, especially. I originally really liked Addie and Marc together but Marc became a cranky, unforgiving grouch. She's much better off with Simon. This was a really good mystery with a missing book, a murder and Kalea's continuing disappearances. This was really enjoyable and I'm looking forward to the next book.

While I enjoyed this latest adventure for Addie, I found this story more predictable than most (I am not usually ahead of the sleuth, but I did guess the murderer before Addie). However, I do find Addie to be a likeable heroine with a good surrounding cast of characters. With the resolution of her love triangle, her love life has become a less central point to the stories but instead focuses her relationship with her cousin.

For a cozy, it's a thoroughly enjoyable read.

A Page Marked for Murder is the fifth book in Lauren Elliott’s Beyond the Page Bookshop Mystery series. I really love this series and have read all the previous books. So of course I had to request book 5 and a chance to read the next book early. These books are fun, engaging with great characters and always include a murder and book-related mystery to be solved. Once again, Addie Greyborne, the owner of the Beyond the Page Bookshop is right in the middle of things using her amateur sleuthing skills to help the police and her boyfriend, Simon, an ER doctor and local coroner, to solve the murder. I highly recommend this one.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for an advanced readers copy in change for my honest review.

This is the fifth book in the Beyond the Page Bookstore mystery series by Lauren Elliott.

This is definitely becoming one of my favorite series.

Addie is a great protagonist. She doesn’t push her investigations into the local cop’s faces, but she doesn’t stop sleuthing just because they tell her to. There is a lot going on in this story besides the murder outside her friend’s bakery. We also have a missing valuable book and then Addie’s cousin trying to win the affections of a man and pretending to be Addie, not in name. But she makes the man believe the house and businesses are hers and not Addie’s, which drives Addie bananas. And rightly so. I think the deception by her cousin is probably the best part of this since it is what kept me reading just to find out when her cousin’s deceptions would be uncovered.

The mystery aspect of this is very involved and it is able to bring together all the different storylines in this book in a very new bow at the end. That wasn’t an easy task since the whole thing is so convoluted and there are so many people involved in different aspects of this story. I felt a sense of relief and satisfaction at the end when all was said and done.

Overall, it is a great read. You should dive into this cozy series for sure!

If you like cozy mysteries, definitely check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

*Disclaimer: I have been provided this book free of charge by the publisher Kensington Publishing for the sole purpose of reading and reviewing this book for NetGallery.com, along with my YouTube Channel as well as this blog. All reviews are completely my own thoughts and opinions*

This is Book 5 in the Series, so if you have not read the other 4 Books, that is ok - it can stand alone and you can still understand and follow the story, you just might not be as familiar with the main characters in the story.

Addison Greyborn lives in Greyborne Harber, which is a quaint New England Town; (or Addie to her friends) is the owner of a bookstore and is getting ready for the Fire and Ice Event in her local town - its a fun after-Christmas event where they have an ice carving competition and burn the Christmas Trees in a community bondfire and have midnight fireworks!! (Just saying - this sounds like an amazing idea and I would love to see this event happen in my local community!)

Addie has been outside with her assistant Paige, when she literally stumbles over Pippi, her friend Gloria’s little dog! This is a PROBLEM because Gloria doens’t go ANYWHERE without Pippi. Soon, they find Gloria at the festival grounds injured, and before Addie knows it - she is now dog-sitting!!

You can’t have a holiday without some family drama, right?? Paige’s daughter’s father Brett Palmer has re-entered the picture wanting custody and rights to see Emma after walking out on them 4 years before. Umm.......no. On top of that - Martha (Paige’s Mom) ex-husband Ken has re-entered the picture as well, AND they are causing very public scenes which is making things hard on both Martha and Paige.

Addie goes into work the morning of the Bonfire, and she sees who she thinks is Old Bill (a homeless man in town) huddled up against a heating vent. She goes over to talk to him, BUT.....ITS NOT BILL!! It is Brett Palmer and he is DEAD!!!!

Let’s Complicate things more shall we?? The Chief of Police is ADDIE’S Ex!!! They have a.....strained relationship at best. Simon, Addie’s currently boyfriend whispers in her ear that she needs to tell Marc what Martha said to her the previous day. After relaying that information, Marc has Jerry pick up Martha, Paige, and Ken to question them about Brett. Poor Paige - things just keep getting worse.

After leaving the scene, Addie takes Pippi to visit Gloria in the hospital and they have a VERY touching reunion. (Insert Hearts and Rainbows Here - LOL)

Gloria tells Addie a little that she can remember about the accident and she tells her that she felt something shake the ladder and someone stand over her making sure she was ok before they ran off! (Insert scary music here...becuase why would someone run off instead of calling for help, and why woudn’t they stay unless they were guilty...)

So Gloria asks Addie to bring her the book on her nightstand - The Secret Garden - that they are reading for book club. Addie knows where it is since she and Martha had been in Gloria’s home right after she was admitted so that they could get things for Gloria and Pippi’s bed, toys, etc... but when she gets there, the book is nowhere to be found! She goes back to the hospital and they search through the whole suitcase that Martha packed and it wasn’t there......

Addie goes to the police station (where Martha and Paige are now being held) and asks to speak with Martha, which of course they cant’ do becuase they are under arrest. Addie BEGS a really...........temperamental former female FBI Agent named Ryley to ask Martha if she picked up the book. When she comes back and relays that it was left in Gloria’s house......Addie informs the police officer that there is now a problem....becuase that book is worth over Twenty Five Thousand Dollars.

That is ALOT OF MONEY for a book!!!! Do we have a motive now of why Gloria ended up injured??

After basically pleading and begging with Ryley, the police officer makes the decision to check to see if anything is really wrong. She sends out a VERY PREGNANT police officer - with Addie as her “partner” to check on Gloria’s house.

After they do a walk-through of the house, Carolyn, the police officer there doing the investigation, asks Addie if there is ANYTHING that is dffferent than when she was in the house on Friday....and she thinks of something! There was a photo album that she had looked through on Friday and left open on the coffee table....but when she came in that day......it was closed!

So that evening she makes a list of the information that she has before Simon comes by. He is SO TIRED from work (he is a DR.) that he ends up falling asleep on her couch. The next morning, he gets a phone call from Marc that they have found something in Martha’s Bakery......

Addie drives down but can’t find a parking spot, so she parks farther down from her shop, and she walks up and the sign is OPEN - she is SURE that she turned it to CLOSED before she left the day before....she walks in and Paige is working! Paige is worried that she no longer has a job, to which Addie dispels those nerves ASAP. Paige reveals some very personal information to Addie about her and Brett’s relationship which sends Addie for a spin.

When Paige broaches the topic of redecorating the windows in a “The Secret Garden” theme, Addie is forced to tell her about the book and its value and right away, Paige says that she is positive that her father, Ken, has stolen it from Gloria’s home!

While Paige is in the back of the store getting things out for the new display, Addie takes a copy of The Secret Garden to Gloria in the hospital, where Gloria proceeds to inform her that the first person on the scene was none other than our murder victim Brett Palmer! Gloria is then informed by Addie everything that has been going on and why Martha hadnt’ been by to see her lately. Gloria is like, well, let’s solve a mystery!! She kinda reminds me of Fred from Schooby Do at this moment! LOL When Addie starts asking questions about who has a key to Gloria’s home and explains why she wants to know, Gloria actually comes up with the same answer as Paige did - that Ken took the first edition book that he had left with her when he left Paige and Martha all those years ago...

So do you want to know who the Murderer is and who took the book, and if the two cases are connected???

Well, make sure to check our A Page Marked for Murder by Lauren Elliott available from Kensington Publishing Available on October 27th!

This is the fifth Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery. If I have the timeline correct nearly a year has passed since the events of book 4.
Addie and Simon are closer than ever and have taken a vacation together. Simon supports her throughout this mystery, although he does say she drives him to distraction .
Kalea is living with Addie and that is a big distraction within this mystery. I think I must really not like Kalea because I was convinced she was going to steal from Addie or burn the house down or something terrible. You’ll have to read the book to understand why I got sidetracked from the murder by this line of thinking.
Marc wasn’t terrible in this book, which was really great for the continuation of the series. His behavior in books 3 and 4 really detracted from the excellent mystery going on. Interpersonal relationships can make or break a cozy mystery series and this one nearly did break it at least for me.
The man who fathered Paige’s daughter Emma is back in town and he is killed. His death and the disappearance of a valuable copy of the Secret Garden are the mysteries to be solved.
I must admit I didn’t suspect the murderer until about the time the author was ready to reveal.
I was drawn in by the story and worried at different points about how badly things could or might go wrong. The wrap up felt a little tidy it I like it anyway.

The holidays are over, but Addison Greyborne, owner of Beyond the Page, a bookstore/curio shop in Greyborne Harbor, is as busy as ever. She’s and her shop assistant, Paige Stringer, are standing in the blustery weather bouncing ideas off one another for windows displays for the upcoming Fire and Ice Festival.
Settling on an idea, Addie starts to follow Paige back into the store. Addie’s attention is caught by two arguing men exiting Martha’s Bakery. They are Ken Stringer and Brett Palmer. Ken is Paige’s absentee father, and Brett is Paige’s ex and the father of their daughter, Emma. Brett abandoned Emma and Paige when Paige was a baby. Now he is back, on the eve of Emma’s fourth birthday, to demand custody of his daughter. Martha is furious.
Addie finds Brett Palmer’s body propped up against the back wall of Martha’s Bakery. Martha’s altercations with Brett were public marking her as the prime suspect in Brett’s death. Addie knows Martha didn’t murder Brett. Addie also knows she needs to find the evidence to clear Martha’s name. But a murderer doesn’t want his or her identity exposed. As Addies closes in on the murderer, will she become the next victim?
I enjoyed returning to Greyborne Harbor and Beyond the Page Bookstore. I enjoyed learning more about Paige, Martha, and their backstories. The murder weapon angle was a surprise. The ending was a surprise as well, and I was glad it took on a slightly different tone.
While I enjoyed reading this book, it seemed a little thin in places. A lot of the texting that takes place seems more to take up space than add to the story. A minor quibble.
Overall, if you’re looking for a quick, fun read, then Lauren Elliott’s books fit the bill.

Christmas is over, but the town festivities aren't, there's the ice sculpting contest and the annual Christmas Tree bonfire. When Gloria falls off a ladder and breaks a bone, Addie is drafted to take care of Pippi her adorable dog. While she's packing up Pippi's toys and bed she notices a first edition of The Secret Garden by Hodgson Burnett that's worth $25,000. Later when she returns to take the book to Gloria in the hospital it's gone. Soon Addie finds a dead body behind Martha's bakery and when Martha is the prime suspect, she has to start investigating.
When I first started this series, I didn't care for Addie, but I did like the other characters in the series. Addie has grown as a character and become much more likable. This is a character driven books with a lot of characters to keep track of. I enjoyed the bit of romance as well as the addition of the dog! Overall it's a good mystery.

I loved the Secret Garden! It plays a role in this latest installment of a zippy cozy series featuring Addie, who loves books and solving murders. This time out, Martha, mother of Paige who works with Addie, is discovered standing over the corpse of Paige's ex. Now, Addie has never really liked Martha and Martha never really liked the man who was the father of Paige's daughter Emma but....At the same time, Addie noticed that one of their friends owned a first edition of the Secret Garden and told Martha how much it was worth. Now it's gone missing. What's an amateur detective to do? Sleuth of course! Addie is nicely intrepid, her love interest Simon generally supportive, and her friends well drawn. You know there's going to be more to both stories but no spoilers as to how they link up. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. I'm a fan of this cozy series and think you should be fine with this as a standalone.
