It's January and the annual Fire & Ice Festival is upon them. Paige is ready to have her baby any day, and life is just fine. Addie unfortunately finds a body behind Martha's bakery next door..and Martha is the main suspect!. The story line is focused on saving Martha while finding out who did it, with what, and why. Surprise ending, no clue who the real killer was until the moment it was revealed=perfect way to end the story line! Thanks to Kensington Books & NetGalley for a chance to pre-read the latest installment of this series as an ebook.
Thank you to #NetGalley for this ARC! This is one of my favorite series and I am lucky to read this book so early. It doesn't come out until the end of October.
I like that Addie had more of a challenge to help solve the murder this time. It allowed the reader to learn more about everything as well as the people involved in the story. We find out who Addie picks to be her boyfriend and I am torn. While I like Simon, I also thought she would've chosen Marc. I hate the tension between them now and the new Detective who seems possessive over Marc.
There are so many people who could be the killer, but only one who would protect family, which lead them to kill. I think I am starting to like Martha a bit more now and hopefully she will soften up more as time goes on.
The only person I didn't like is Kalea, her cousin, and I hope that she moves out soon because she is very inconsiderate. She gets to live there for free, but eats Addie out of house & home. She lies and always has a scheme to land some rich guy.
While I got this ARC in e-book format, I will still buy the print copy to add to my collection. I am looking forward to the next in this series coming out in Spring 2021.
The big Fire and Ice festival is keeping bookstore owner Addie busy. She's also dog sitting for a friend in the hospital. When Addie goes to her friend's house to gather supplies, she notices an interesting item on the nightstand which belongs to her shop assistant, Paige: a very valuable copy of the beloved children's book The Secret Garden. But Addie also finds something else: a dead body behind the bakery next door to her shop. Martha, the bakery owner, has no alibi--and has been seen in a heated argument with the victim. And the next thing Addie knows, that first edition has gone missing. Is there a connection between the body and the treasured tome?
This is a great series. The stories are well done. I discovered it when I got a chance from NetGalley last year to read the newest one at the time. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for again giving me the chance to read the newest in this series. It helps to establish the characters to read the series in order but the series can be read out of order. After reading the first ARC, I went back and read two of the earlier ones. Now I only have one of the earlier ones to read to be totally caught up with the series. I highly recommend.
Thanks to NetGalley for this early read.
Having recently finished the previous book in this series, I was pleased to be able to get this one before publication. The characters are mostly all enjoyable, even Martha is growing on me. Everyone, that is, except obnoxious cousin Kalea who needs to leave town and never come back. The little dog was a cute addition who wormed her way into Addie’s heart.
While I enjoyed the book right up to the ending, the solution to the murder and the ending itself did not seem very cozy-like. I can’t say more without spoilers but I found it a bit disconcerting. I will keep reading this series but I hope she does not have this kind of conclusion again.

Fifth title in Elliot's Beyond the page Bookstore Mysteries, this is a well done story filled with emotion, murder and multiple suspects. Addie Greyborne, owner of Beyond the Pages Bookstore, scrambles to sort the clues that will clear baker, Martha Stringer of murder. A shocking reveal at the end will keep readers turning the pages to find out "who done it".
I was given this book by Netgalley in exchange for a honest review.
Addison and Paige are busy preparing for the Ice and Fire Festival when Paige's father and her ex-boyfriend both arrive in town. Family issues emerge and,of course, someone ends up dead. Paige's mother is the prime suspect, so Once again Addy jumps into the investigation. I really enjoy this series. Perfect for anyone who lives mysteries and books.
In the small town where Addie lives in Massachusetts there is a Fire and Ice Festival held in January to bring in the tourist business. One of the organizer's of the festival has an accident and falls off of a ladder and ends up in the hospital. Addie has never owned a dog but finds herself pet sitting until the owner can get out of the hospital. Then a body turns up in the alley behind the store next door to Addie's bookshop and clearly it is murder. Can Addie help find the murderer or have they already left town? Then a valuable book which had been loaned to the lady in the hospital turns up missing. Are the two things related, the murder and the missing book ? Can Addie help her neighbor who has been charged with murder? This was a great read and is part of the series. I have read two of the books in the series now but not in order so it does work well as a standalone. I received an e-book copy of this book through Net Galley and Kensington Publishing in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Net Galley and Kensington.
I am becoming a huge fan of the cozy mystery genre due to books like this. You can read this as an escape from the everyday in a weekend. A really good mystery. Lauren Elliot is becoming one of my favorites.
Thank you to Netgalley and Kensington Books for an ARC in exchange for an honest review of the book.
This is the 5th book in this series. Having read all of them, I would say that this is a good addition to the narrative arc. The setting, which is a strength of this series, is used to good effect here. There's a temporary houseguest for Addie--a little doggie--who is a fun addition to the novel. I did like, too, that Elliott makes use of one of my favorite characters in the series: Martha, the next door baker who is accused of murder.
I always have issues with the protagonist herself, Addie. It seemed like she was a little less problematic for me this time around. And I did like the rising conflict with her pain-in-the-butt cousin. All in all, I would suggest reading this entry if you enjoy this series. I think it could probably read well as a standalone, but as always, I suggest going back to the beginning in a series like this to experience all the character development.
This is a wonderful series that has me hooked! Addie is such a well- developed character, with such a relatable personality that I almost want to go find her bookshop & work for her.
A Page Marked For Murder was a great cozy mystery to read while your curled up in front of the fireplace during a rainstorm. Addie is such a likeable character who feels the need to help her coworker and friend, Paige, when her mother is a suspect in a murder. With so many juicy suspects, I couldn't figure out whodunnit until the answer was revealed. I also liked the romantic subplot, which added a little bit of tension. I received an advanced reader's copy from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
An enjoyable installment to this series, wrapped around the Fire and Ice Festival and a valuable copy of The Secret Garden. Well written and keeps you guessing along the way.
Book 5 of the series features the family of Addie's assistant Paige - her mother Martha who owns the bakeshop. her father who ran out on the family years ago, her ex-husband who wants custody of their daughter an her sister and brother-in-law. When the ex-husband is found dead in the alley by the bakeshop, the hunt is on to discover the murder location and murder weapon. What role does Paige's missing first edition of The Secret Garden play in the murder, if any?
The murder weapon and the identity of the murderer were a surprise.
I received this ARC via Netgalley and Kensington Books, in return for an honest review. While the fifth book in this series, it’s easily read as a stand-alone. Addison (Addie) Greyborne is focused on tempting readers into her bookstore by changing her window displays to support the annual Fire and Ice festival. Added by her assistant, Paige, and not by her cousin and quasi-employee, Addie is astounded to find a body in the alley behind the bakery next door. With the body having connections to both Paige and her mom, Martha, Addie determines to clear them both from suspicion by the police. The problem is that the clues keep piling up against Martha. Adding in an unexpected dog-sitting job and the discovery/disappearance of a valuable first edition of The Secret Garden and Addie has her hands full. Luckily, she can count on her friends and her significant other, Simon, to help in solving the multiple mysteries. A solid cozy and a good read. The characters are well-written and clearly defined. The murderer isn’t obvious and there are plenty of suspect options to keep you engaged. I recommend this book and look forward to the next in the series.
I enjoyed this book. It's got good characters and an interesting mystery. I felt that parts were a bit slow but otherwise it's a good story. #APageMarkedforMurder #NetGalley

Addie the rare book appraiser and bookshop owner has been on the wrong side of the suspect list before but this time it is dear friends who remain under interrogation. One friend tumbles from a ladder and is severely injured. While in hospital her house keys have gone missing and a family heirloom book has been stolen. Then the body of a man known and disliked by another family of friends is found in the alley behind their shops. The police are not happy and disagree with Addie's conclusions about her friends. Well done with red herrings and plot twists as well as truly believable characters. ! very good read!
I requested and received a free ebook copy from Kensington Books via NetGalley. Thank you!
This is an honest review for A Page Marked for Murder by Lauren Elliot in exchange for an early release copy. A fallen ladder, a man murdered, a book stolen. How do they all fit together? Addie tries hard to figure out who stole the expensive book and who is the murderer. I really enjoyed reading this book. It was hard to put down, read it in a little over a day.
An excellent continuation to the “Beyond the Page” series. Loyal, determined, and bright...Addie continues to impress. Supporting characters are well drawn and strong storyline moves the action at a good pace.
Thanks to #NetGalley and #APageMarkedForMurder for advanced digital copy.
Mayhem returns to Paige's life and bookshop when a valuable book goes missing. Paige grapples with hostility from her cousin, worry about a possible disappearance, but Simon is there tomhelpmher through the ups and downs. The action was good, the mystery case, together, and it was an interesting cozy to read.
Book 5 in the Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery is a classic cozy mystery. Addie Greyborne is called upon to help her frenemy, Martha the baker, prove her innocence. Martha's prickly, but Addie doesn't believe that she would be stupid enough to murder her daughter's ex-boyfriend and dump the body in the alley behind the bakery. Addie's faced with an abundance of suspects with strong alibis, a cousin who's even more annoying tha usual, a busy boyfriend, and doggy-sitting. Pretty standard for this amateur sleuth.
Thanks for Kensington and NetGalley for access to a digital ARC.
