Love this series. If you haven't read it yet. I highly recommend it. Krissy owns death by coffee with her friend vicky. Krissy is asked to investigate a murder that happened over 30 years ago. When she is investigating someone new is killed. She is wondering if it is linked to the murder from all those years.

Wow! A cold case murder, a town full of secrets, and the unexpected death of Krissy’s next door neighbor sets the scene for Death by French Roast.
I’ve come to really enjoy these books, and the cold case really intrigued me.
I found the story to be well written and thought out, but it still has that cozy feel to it. Krissy is beginning to grow on me, and I like how her character is evolving.
I can’t wait to see what happens next in this fun series.

I received this ARC via Netgalley and Kensington Books, in return for an honest review. While the eighth book in this series, it is easily read as a standalone. Krissy Hancock’s cantankerous next-door neighbor, Eleanor, dies and Krissy helps the daughter with clearing out the house. Krissy is surprised to learn that Eleanor’s brother, Wade, was killed 30 years earlier in an unsolved murder and his niece welcomes Krissy’s involvement in looking at the cold case. He’d been dating a much younger woman, Rita, which led to hard feelings throughout their small town with accusations of inappropriate behavior leveled at both Wade and Rita. Krissy delves into the old case, not realizing it has current day implications until a second person is killed and she is targeted to be next.
While it isn’t necessary to read the preceding books, the author does a good job of detailing the characters in the story and giving a motivation on why Krissy is investigating Wade’s death.

This is the eighth book in the Death By Coffee series by Alex Erickson.

I am totally addicted to this series. I have read every book since the series started.

When Krissy’s noisy neighbor dies unexpectedly, she learns of a relative who died under unusual circumstances… a murder that was never solved. Krissy decides to dig into this mystery in memory of Eleanor.

Considering how involved Rita was in the background of this story, I am surprised she wasn’t more involved in the story itself. Rita is usually a thorn in Krissy’s side for most o the book but this time, she was strangely silent. I almost wished she had been more involved in some way.

Great mystery. I liked how the author used this circumstance to pull Paul and Krissy closer together. Krissy’s questioning of some of the older residents of town wasn’t taken as well as she had hoped and she found herself in dangerous circumstances more than once in this story.

This is definitely a series I recommend to anyone. But start at the beginning and get all the background. It is more fun that way. You can certainly read this as a standalone if you must.

If you like cozy mysteries, definitely check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

I really enjoyed this cozy mystery that takes on a cold case. When Krissy's neighbor passes away, Krissy agrees to help clear out her things. While doing so, Krissy discovers that her neighbor once had a brother, a man who was murdered many years ago and the crime was never solved. Krissy agrees to do a little investigating and starts to dig up some of the town's buried secrets. I've read a few of these Bookstore Cafe Mysteries and enjoyed them all. Like many cozy series, they don't need to be read in order (but it's more fun if they are). Good, engaging mystery.

After the funeral of her deceased neighbor, Eleanor Whitmore, Krissy learns from the daughter that Eleanor had been obsessed with discovering who murdered her brother over thirty years ago. .Krissy decides to investigate, hoping it will allow Eleanor to rest in peace. As she questions the people who were involved with the murdered man, she is constantly told to leave it alone. The pieces come together for a satisfying conclusion.

This is the 8th installment in the Bookstore Café Mystery Series. I have not read all in the series but was able to enjoy and follow along with no issues. Krissy Hancock agrees to help clear out the house of her next-door neighbor she is surprised to learn that the woman’s brother Wade was killed years back and the case was never solved. She is asked to look into the case by her neighbor’s daughter and although she was not fond of her cranky neighbor, she does feel justice should be found for her brother. She learns that Wade dated her friend Rita who is part of her book group and back then given the age difference that was not really liked. Digging up gossip from thirty years ago is hard but when a friend of Wade’s wants to help and then he ends up dead. Liked the cold case aspect and this a good solid mystery. I need to go back and pick up the other books in this series that I have not read. Definitely enjoyed this one.

When Krissy Hancock’s next door neighbor passes away she discovers the cantankerous old woman had a brother who was murdered over thirty years ago. Feeling sorry for the woman she never truly liked, she agrees to look into the cold case when the woman’s daughter asks her to. Turns out the man was dating a much younger woman and most of the town was against their relationship, though it wouldn’t have been as taboo today as it was then.

With the police chief’s blessing, Krissy begins digging in. When a friend of the dead man tells Krissy he has information for her, she arrives to find him dead. Things are heating up in the cold case as Krissy turns up the heat on a murderer. Now she has to find the Miller before she gets tossed into the fore and becomes the next victim.

A solid entry in this series that will have you sipping a cup of coffee and turning the pages to find out whodunit. The third book in the series I have read and look forward to many more.

When Krissy helps the daughter of her nosy neighbor go through her mother's things, she discovers the news about a thirty year old murder that was never solved. This is the first I've read in the series, but overall didn't feel lost, although a lot of comments from the town residents suggest Krissy is known for being finding clues. A good cozy mystery, and one I would highly recommend.

I will say the cover is what drew me to this book. I live the black and white cat 🐱
This book involves a new and old murder.
Krissy tries not to involve herself, but.....
This is a part of series. It can stand alone. I wish I would have read the others first so I could know more about the characters.
