"How to Talk about Jesus (Without Being That Guy)" by Sam Chan is a refreshing guide that shows us how to share our faith in a down-to-earth and relatable way. The main idea of the book is to help us talk about Jesus without coming across as pushy or overbearing. Chan gives practical advice on how to engage in meaningful conversations that respect others' perspectives while effectively communicating the message of Jesus. The book emphasizes building genuine connections, listening well, and finding common ground, making it an invaluable resource for anyone who wants to share their faith with kindness and authenticity.

Reading this book, I learned that talking about Jesus doesn't have to be intimidating or uncomfortable. Chan's approach focuses on understanding the people we're talking to and meeting them where they are. He provides easy-to-follow steps for having meaningful conversations about faith, even with those who might not share our beliefs. I appreciated the real-life examples and dialogues that Chan includes, as they illustrate how his principles can be applied in everyday interactions. The book also helped me see that sharing our faith is not about winning arguments but about connecting with others and showing them the love of Christ.

I recommend "How to Talk about Jesus (Without Being That Guy)" to anyone who wants to share their faith in a respectful and approachable manner. Whether you're a seasoned Christian or someone new to the Faith, this book equips you with practical tools to engage in meaningful conversations without being pushy or insensitive. It's especially useful for those who might feel unsure or anxious about talking about their beliefs with friends, family, or even strangers. Chan's friendly and practical approach will boost your confidence and inspire you to share your faith in a way that reflects the genuine love and compassion of Jesus.

I have never read a more practical, insightful and wise book about evangelism. It is a difficult topic for christians, especially if you do not want to come across as "that guy". Sam Chan presents an approachable way to talk about the difficult questions of life and faith that seems easy and very natural to me. It's the kind of evangelism I find attractive and would go for myself.

In a post-Christian world, evangelism seems a bit different. Sam Chan presents a very useful guide to help Christians navigate this world. He gives 8 evangelism tips to share the gospel with unbelievers. Some tips explain how to invest in relationships with others while other tips guide readers with helpful skills during actual conversations. He authored another book that he states was more theology-focused but this book is more practical. I like his easygoing, conversational tone and I could see how many unbelievers would find it easy to speak with him. I don't think everyone is gifted like he is in that way but he helps us see we can do this. Christians can be Jesus Christ to the unbelieving world and we can use any unfamiliar (or familiar) situation to shine the gospel with respect and with truth. A great read that gave me a lot to think about and, hopefully, put into action.
* I received this book free of charge from NetGalley.

Excellent book that deserves to be in the 'most used' shelf of pastors/evangelist. Sam Chan is an excellent evangelist whose experience is reflected in this book. Very helpful advice on how to introduce Christ to people in a way that's not too off putting.

Having read other books and listened to various presentations on the topic of evangelism, I was surprised by the practical ideas the author gave. Even better, they made so much sense. Given our current times, I definitely recommend this book for those who are looking for a way to share information of eternal value. A word of caution: this is not a quick start guide. Rather, as the author states up front, this is about establishing a lifestyle. Consider purchasing this for your evangelism team but it is of definite value for the individual as well.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book provided by the publisher and Net Galley but the thoughts expressed are my own.

In HOW TO TALK ABOUT JESUS (WITHOUT BEING THAT GUY), evangelist pastor Sam Chan gives straight-forward tools for Christians to engage their non-Christian friends in conversations about Christ without being holier than thou, let-me-show-you-the-way -- or, as the title says, being *THAT* person.

Although I'm not sure I 100% align with Sam Chan's approach, I found many of his points helpful and his tone jargon-free and easy to understand.

#How to Talk about Jesus Without Being That Guy# by Sam Chan is a non fiction book. Sam Chan is a Pastor. He says we should use nudge questions . He means: What do you believe about God?, What do you think God wants from you, Do you have a faith, what religion did your parents raise you with, do you pray , what is the best thing about being a Muslim, What do people get wrong about Islam. He suggests you start having coffee with the person. He also suggests sharing Bible stories that relate to what the person is going through. We need to become a chaplain in our world . We need to give them reasons that promote belief. Why do we see things differently? It is good to engage with the people and meet the people where they are. What would it take for you to trust me or Jesus or the Bible? He encourages us to have non Christians for dinner. Thank you to the author, netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and review this book. It is very helpful and practical. It is a good resource for pastors, any Christian.

I didn’t know what to expect from this book, but I was genuinely surprised and without a doubt by the end of the book was enamored with the content!
I am hands down purchasing this book for my husband to read and then to share with a few of my close friends! The author wrote with genuine love for the message he was trying to convey. The way he approached it was phenomenal!

I think my favorite phrase was and I am sharing this with my children who have children “ he said as he drives his two small children to school each day and he says prayers with them “ Heavenly Father, help us to be Jesus to those around us today “
If we take only one message out of this book, that one meant the most. He is teaching his children to be good to others and spread that goodness to everyone regardless of who they are! What a message to teach your children to be a messenger of Jesus!

This author writes with wonderful stories to clarify his opinions and his reasonings from the Bible. He points out that his message is straight from the teachings of the Bible ,but it is open for each persons representation and he is not there to argue points.

I received some valuable messages from the content in the book and I walk away spiritually uplifted after reading this book.

Thank you to the authors and publishers who work diligently for us the readers.

I received an advanced copy from NetGalley and these are my willingly given thoughts and opinions.

This book is timely. And sad. It's sad that you have to spend a whole chapter to remind Christians that they should be socializing and having non-Christian friends. It's sad that there is a chapter to tell them to "go to their things." And a chapter to explain hospitality is necessary. And to Listen. It's no wonder most never make it to "Tell a Better Story", "Tell them Stories about Jesus..." ... Just the fact that this has to be written down shows just what a sorry shape the church is in.

I recommend this book, because it's obviously needed.

Sam Chand is incredibly proficient at writing crisp, clean, easy to read, straight to the point books. A lot of Christian writers nowadays spend paragraph upon paragraph, chapter upon chapter, overwhelming us with fluff meant to artificially extend a book longer than it has any right to be. Chand does just the opposite.

In How to Talk about Jesus (Without Being that Guy), Chand encourages and inspires his readers to share their faith by demystifying the art of evangelism. He gives eight simple tips on how to make evangelism natural in today's modern world. By providing examples of his experiences coupled with examples from the biblical narrative, Chand teaches the reader "tips to move your friends from death to life."

I specifically respected how Chand continually pushes his readers back to Jesus. Does a friend has a theological question? Talk about what Jesus said on the topic. Does a friend have a credible reason for not wanting to be a part of a faith community? Share Jesus's kind words to people who felt the same.

This is certainly a book that I would buy extra copies of to share with friends and students that are believers wanting to "up their game" when it comes to naturally and authentically sharing their faith with others.
