This is a wonderful book for older-elementary school kids. It is filled with hopeful action steps that a child can take to improve the world. I loved the writing style and how it was both informative and hopeful!
This is so perfect! I would love to read it to my kids in the future!
So happy to such books gaining popularity as sustainability should be a more discussed topic as it concerns them first and foremost.

This is a wonderful book that should be on the shelf of every child. It can be accessed in chapters for different topics and discussions. There are lots of practical activities inside and it is a very user friendly guide to making the world more sustainable. The author explains very clearly the benefits behind each statement. I will definitely purchase for my classroom.
“The one thing we need more than hope is action. Once we start to act, hope is everywhere.”

'You Can Change the World' is a wonderful compendium of the individual actions we can take to support environmentalism and help the planet. This book would be great for children in upper elementary school grades and beyond. It's a very thorough book and some of the subjects and project ideas include the topics of: ethical consumerism, food, waste, gardening, etc. Though it is intended for children, I found this guide to be very helpful and informative and it's causing me to rethink my day-to-day actions and how my behavior can be improved and my carbon footprint minimized.
Thank you NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for providing this ARC.
I received an e-galley from Andrews McMeel Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I’m always looking for great teaching resources and kid-friendly informational texts for my students. I’ve read a lot of great picture books that introduces tips and ideas for how readers can help make the world a better place. YOU CAN CHANGE THE WORLD is a great guide with a lot more information, details, and tips for that change to take place - including different sections including plastic, food, gardening, and activism. I was also pleasantly surprised to find a chapter on acts of kindness in the guide - the idea that change should come from within as well. The guide gives simple and clear explanations and instructions for what to do and what not to do. It also features young inspiring individuals around the world who are already making changes - as well as organizations and groups that are also committed to different important causes. It’s a great book to use when guiding young readers to what makes them feel inspired and how they may want to help make the world a better place.
I will definitely be putting this on my classroom wish list as a classroom resource.
This would be a fantastic addition to any classroom bookshelf. It is full of interesting, and easily accessible, information about the small steps we can take to change the world that we live in.
I love the visuals in this book and I like how different types of information is shared, from background facts, to make and do, and biographies of people who have made a change.
Children in Upper Key Stage would thoroughly enjoy dipping into this book.
Full of many practical ways kids can help save the environment. Activities, lifestyle swaps, and examples of people making an impact are given. I thought the content was engaging the the layout and pages were colorful and added to the message well.
I thought this was fantastic. Great layout and illustrations help to make all the information engaging. Very educational, touching on everything from going vegan and being kind to animals, to making your own toothpaste and turning t-shirts into reusable bags! I especially liked the "plastic free party", what a great idea.
Loved it.
You Can Change the World by Lucy Bell was a cute book with tons of information. I felt some of the advice was a bit generic or even expected at times, but I loved that the author included small biographies of kids currently making a difference in the world. I will definitely be using the information provided about starting and protecting a garden!
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for access to this title.
This is one of those educational fun books not only for the kids but for us adults who find documentaries and articles way too intimidating and tiresome.
The book talks about plastic and how to deal with it, what we can do to recycle or replace it with.
The book highlights kids and organisations which are actively involved in the process.
I never knew I use this much plastic everyday!
And ah the recipes for personal care. Love the practical, easy guides!
I love how the book gives practical easy tips on recycling clothes, how not to waste much on it.
And then there's this part on waste recycling and how to handle waste.
The kids mentioned in the book are doing too much while the rest of us are like we are and we can.
Can we be we are and we can on this front as well and learn something from the kids instead of leading them to follow our steps of ruining our planet?
Yes, no matter what it is every small step counts, every small change matters.
Thank you #NetGalley for the copy of this book.
You Can Change the World The Kids' Guide to a Better Planet Lucy Bell is an awesome guide for kids and families looking to make a difference. The book is filled with facts about how everyday things harm our environment, as well as calls to action to address them and be a better global citizen.
I love the DIY projects that are given here, which would be fun projects to try with your kids to get them involved in living a green lifestyle.
There are also sections that highlight kids around the world who are making an impact on important issues, which is very inspirational.
Many thanks to Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley for the advance review copy.
This is a good book for a campaign on how to save the planet using simple ways. It's a good material for people who wants to teach children what pollutants can do to the environment and how they can help saving it.
You Can Change the World by Lucy Bell is a great classroom resource. The book goes through eight different sections on how we (kids) can become more environmentally friendly. The book is easy for students to follow along and read. Also, the illustrations are very engaging. I like how the book is broken up into sections so the new information doesn't feel overwhelming. I can definitely see myself using this in science lessons no matter what grade level as it has large variety of knowledge in many different sections of being environmentally friendly. This would also work well with summer camps looking for fun STEM ideas and activities. Overall, I enjoy this book and can see myself using it in the classroom.
This is an incredible guide for young would-be environmental activists. It's highly informative and filled with interesting facts and colorful illustrations. There's suggestions on how to eliminate single use plastics, avoiding fast fashion, and even eating less meat and dairy, and much, much more. This should be an automatic addition to any and all nonfiction library collections. I cannot wait to order this for my media center!
You Can Change the World gives so many examples of environmentally friendly practices that I was surprised in a really positive way. From young activists, through pointing out the problem to the very solution recipes included. There’s nothing to add, the books covers all topics connected with saving our planet. All showed in a really reader friendly was with lovely graphics. We need more books like this one! Five stars from me!
