Cute little book about a boy and his pet tornado. Really enjoyed reading this book with my 4 year old son. The illustrations are also very beautifully done.
As always, thank you to the publisher and netgalley for providing me a copy in exchange for an honest review
A big thank you to NetGalley and Clovis Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is a children's book. I found it imaginative, but if you have ever been in a tornado you would Not want one as a pet. They are extremely destructive. Thanks reminded me of a Fish out of water. While I too liked the "tornado" going down the drain and loved baths-maybe this takes it a bit far. 3.5 stars
I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. Timmy finds a tornado at the end of his bath and decided to set it free. Great imagination book.
This is an odd little picture book. A kid who loves baths imagines that the vortext of water going down the drain is a little tornado, and raises it as a pet.
It keeps getting larger and larger, until it has to be let go out on its own.
And then we realize that it might be like Where the Wild Things Are, that it was all in his head.
Or was it?
And while I like these sorts of story, I didn't find it all that interesting to have a tornado as a pet.
Distractive, and all that.
Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.
I read this book with my 6 year old. We both loved the colorful pictures and imagination in the story. My 6year old didn’t fully understand the story was a daydream. I think a little more at the end other than the mother bringing in hot cocoa would help. Either way, she loved the story.
Vibrant is the word that comes to mind for this book. The premise is that Timmy liked to take long baths, and one day he sees a tornado in the tub as the water is draining and decides to keep it as a pet. The illustrations are bright and interesting and the story is quirky and fun. For kids with an imagination and a love for funny tales.
Timmy’s Tornado is a fun story about a little boy and his pet Tornado. This story is easy to follow along with and indulges in children’s imagination. This would be a great book to introduce tornadoes in a science unit in younger grades. Timmy’s Tornado could also be used as inspiration for a tornado art project /science experiment, I could see myself using this book with pre-k to 3rd (maybe 4th) graders. Overall, a fun story to read aloud and get some laughs.
Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Loved this imaginative and vivid storybook about a boy who holds a tornado as a pet and learns what happens when you let it roam around your house and neighborhood. Pictures are bright and the story engaging. Perfect for curious little minds!
A sigh of exasperation was my response to the end of this book. It's visually great, with lots of detail and a fine craft in the artworks, and the script is ideal for the early years at primary school. It's just too silly a story for me. A kid in a bath sees the vortex of water getting sucked down the plughole when his mother removes the plug, and keeps it as a pet – until he doesn't. I won't give the twister away (sorry), but I don't think it is suited to what's come before, and however logical it might appear is quite a daft ending. But on the other hand I could think of no better, so I'm really on the fence where this book is concerned.
Timmy’s Tornado is a fun picture book about a boy and his pet tornado. The story is engaging and a fantastical twist on the everyday bath. I would recommend this to children and educators, as Timmy’s journey with his tornado can be used as a basis for practicing story sequencing.
I know that these picture books are not for me, but I love them. Some short, but most of the time good story, beautiful pictures and 5 minutes reading. I saw on NetGalley that there are a few of them, and requested them.
Of course, I don't like every picture book, and I wasn't sure that I will like this one. The art style looked good in the cover, but the story seemed too childish...
The pictures were nice as I thought before. I am not obsessed with them, but they are a solid 4/5.
The story was average for me. It was a little bit childish, so the target market will like it, but older people like me, not so much. I read worse stories, though: It had a plot, something happened in the book, and also there was a small plot twist at the end :), so it was not bad at all.
It was an ok book for me, just it was for children, not for adults.
