we have two main characters, Jeremiah (human) and Joe Number Four (canine), and life kind of sucks for these guys. A few years prior to their present day, (July 11th, 2027, to be exact), a team of speleologists explored a previously unmapped cave system, from which they recovered samples of some special little ants. These ants carried a fungus that spread to humans and gave millions of people a really bad case of the munchies. The world goes to hell in a hand basket and Jeremiah ends up separated from his daughter. HIs plan is a simple one; kill the zombies, find his daughter.
I loved the writing style. I found my self "hearing" Jeremiah's voice in my head, and he sounds, to me, a lot like Dead Pool....snarky, sarcastic, hysterical. All good things. Sanchez had me laughing out loud a few times at the "conversations" Jeremiah and Joe had. I think it is too common in post apocalyptic/zombie books, for the author to focus too much on the landscape and dwell on how horrible everything is, and they neglect dialogue and character interactions. Deadbreak was successful in not falling into that category.
All in all, I found Deadbreak to be an enjoyable read. I liked the pace, the characters, the blood and the gore. If zombies are your jam, check it out.
Thank you to NetGalley for this wonderful novel in exchange for my honest opinion.

Deadbreak follows a group of survivors in the post-apocalyptic Great Northwest as they fight off zombies, gangs, slavers, cannibals and a host of other miscreants. At the center of the action is Jeremiah Reid, and his dog, Joe, as they seek to find Jeremiah's young daughter after a pandemic has devastated the world. Jeremiah is an every-man type character who has developed the skills necessary to navigate the treacherous new world while not losing his humanity. Joining the fun is Jenny, a former veterinarian and D1 Volleyball player. Displaying heart, brains and kickass fighting skills, she is no damsel in distress.
Fast paced, action packed and, at times, downright funny, this is a worthy entry in the post-apocalyptic fiction universe. Loved the characters and witty dialogue.
I really enjoyed this book, 5 very enthusiastic stars. If you like PA novels give it a read, you won’t be disappointed.
While I came across this book on NetGalley.com, it has already been released and is available on Amazon and part of Kindle Unlimited.
