This book is so well done and so well thought out. This book really is meant for beginners and those looking to elevate their sushi game. Sushi is about precision. The chapters are laid out to help you navigate to each element you need. It is easy to use and following the instructions I made 3 great rolls for sushi night.
I received this as an ARC in return for an honest review. Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for allowing me to read this title.
I Didnt get a chance to read before it archived, the concept seems good though I wish I had been exposed to sushi as a kid.
Thorough and useful sushi cookbook that takes you through the basics and into both traditional and non-traditional recipes. I could have used more pictures, but the ones that were there were great. Not sure that it brings anything extraordinary to the table, so if you already own a sushi cookbook, this would probably be overkill. But it would be a great first selection.
Sushi for beginner’s was an easy approach to making your sushi at home. I’m a lover of sushi but I like the easy stuff....California roll, spicy tuna...all some easy but delicious recipes with easy directions. The book introduces some important details you may need, as well as tools and prep tips that make sushi easier to make.
What did I like? First.... great job on the pictures. Ideally a beginner book should have easy follow directions but this one goes a step further with some really great pictures and tips to making some beautiful sushi. The book also gives some great tips on etiquette, helps you pick out a knife for sushi cutting, and helps decide your vegetables.
Would I recommend or buy? This is the second book I’ve read lately on sushi making and a beginner book. For a beginner book this was excellent. I would buy it alone just for the excellent tips. I was really hoping for a white Sakura sauce recipe too but it wasn’t in here. I bought the sushi making set but this book brags you don’t need it but various pictures have it.
I received a copy to read and offer an opinion. Five stars... loved it!
Very comprehensive book with lots of detail. Has all the traditional sushi and sashimi recipes along with more unusual ones like quinoa, BLT roll, chicken sausage, asparagus and bacon...Would've been nice to see picture of all the rolls to know how it's supposed to look in the end.
All in all a great cookbook for a novice.
a note to the publisher- this book should be offered for review on Kindle. Netgalley app is horrible.
I’ve been looking for a beginners sushi cookbook for awhile. This one is amazing! The recipes are plentiful, easy directions, and the first 2 chapters are about the basics - tools needs, a glossary is provided, and there’s photos. I’ll be purchasing a hard copy. Thank you to Callisto Publishing, NetGalley, and author China Ravitch for an ebook ARC. This is my honest review.
