I tried a couple of these recipes as soon as I opened the book. They were tasty and delicious and low fat (perfect for any diet) meals and side dishes. Want something new for dinner try these easy recipes
I use my pressure cooker at least four times a week! You can cook anything in one after you get over the intimidation factor. This cookbook includes 125 lows calorie pressure cooker recipes that can be made in 30 minutes, including gluten and daily free options! That’s the first thing that caught my eye!! You can use any brand or size pressure cooker for most recipes. It also includes the nutrition information which I find important.
You don’t have to be on a diet or searching for a weight loss recipes to like this cookbook. There is something for everyone. The recipes include breakfast, sides, lunches, meatless mains, poultry, seafood and beef. There’s even a few desserts included and if you haven’t tried a dessert in a pressure cooker, you are missing out!!
I would have rated the cookbook higher, but it didn’t have enough photographs of the finished meals for my liking and that’s kind of a deal breaker for me. So, I enjoyed the book and even tested a few recipes, but I won’t be adding it to my cookbook collection because of this reason. If the lack of photos don’t bother you, then I would recommend the book to you!
Thank you NetGalley and Rockridge Press for an ARC in exchange for my review.

Fantastic, easy, somewhat simple but very accessible recipes. I really appreciated that there was such a wide range of cuisines represented. Also lots of great info about using the pressure cooker, if that's helpful. The spiced cauliflower is a new favorite.
I liked this book. The layout was easy to follow and there was a wide range of recipes that would suit anyone from the pickiest of eaters to the most adventurous. The ingredients weren’t hard to locate and the recipes were easy to follow. My only critique is that I wish there were more images throughout the book.
Detailed book with interesting recipes, and many new ones to try. For those looking for new recipes to try in your pressure cooker, this is great. I do wish for more pictures, but the recipes stand for themselves. Thank you to the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for allowing me to review.
This is an easy to use and follow cookbook with plenty of recipes. The presentation is clean and the directions nicely laid out, making cooking with the instapot less of a chore. Although the book's recipes come in 3 colors (red, blue, black) there are few pictures so you will have to use your imagination on how these dishes should look if done successfully.
The book has a very quick introduction about the healthy aspects of the recipes and the author's perspective and experience. A second chapter goes into detail about pressure cookers and how best to use them. The recipes are broken down by the typical: Breakfast, Sides & Snacks, Sandwiches & Bowls, Chilis, Soups, Sauces, Meatless Mains, Poultry and Seafood, Beef, Lamb, Pork, Deserts and Drinks. There are measurement conversions in the back.
Each recipe has a large title, servings/preptime/saute time/ cooking time, release time, and total cooking time. There is usually a 1-2 sentence description of the item underneath. Ingredients are listed in large bold type and most recipes have suggestions for what you can add to create interest and diversity in the meals. Steps are numbered and in nicely short 1-2 sentences (there's nothing worse than a 'step' that is 7 two paragraphs long). There are also break downs of the nutrition info (calories, fat, fiber, protein, sodium, sugar) and health boost suggestions.
The only let down on the book is that there are very few images. So although the recipes are in a large format and easy to read, it is a bit frustrating to guess how what you are making should actually look like or be presented. But other than this quibble, the recipes were tasty, easy to make, and healthy. Reviewed from an advance reader copy provided by the publisher.
I am a huge fan of my pressure cooker and I did like this book. The recipes are easy to follow and there are some good ones in here I'll definitely give a try. The beginning on the book I wasn't very fond of, I went in to this expecting a cookbook not a weight loss and meal plan guide. There's nothing WRONG with it, just not what I was expecting. Other than that, I would have preferred more pictures and for the carbohydrate count to be included in the nutritional breakdown. Three stars because there are some good recipes here.
This is a great cookbook for cooks who are short on time but still want to make satisfying and healthy meals for their families. The book includes a nice variety of recipes, most of which are fairly simple to make and utilize common ingredients that are easy to find at any local grocery store. There are recipes to fit any diet, including gluten free and vegetarian, and even the pickiest eater should be able to find something to enjoy. The fact that there are many delicious meat-free options is a particular plus for me. I also really like the included meal plan and nutritional information. I subtracted one star from my review because there are very few pictures of the recipes.
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for the opportunity to read an advanced digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. It had a lot of really good recipes with easy ingredients to find. I would recommend this to anyone with a pressure cooker. It is a great addition to my collection.
So this was an interesting look at using the pressure cooker to cook your own weight loss meals. Portion control seems to be key.
What did I like? I liked this cookbook because it gives you regular home cooked meals...like pot roast or meatloaf. Nothing high class unless you count lamb but an almost basic approach. Loved the meatless main courses and it comes with a 14 day meal plan.
Would I buy or recommend? I need more pictures. This book had very few pictures and it’s a sure fire way to know the author has cooked these recipes countless times. I like to have more visual to cook a dish I never have before... I’m a coward. I want to see if it looks appetizing but for some people maybe this isn’t important.
I received a copy to read and offer an opinion. Four stars.
This Cookbook starts off by providing some information about using a pressure cooker and explains its weight loss plan, which includes a 2-week meal plan. I was shocked to find the meal planning and weight loss plan, in what I expected to be a recipe book.
Each recipe includes nutrition information, including Serving Size, Calories, Total Fat, Fiber, Protein, Sodium, Sugar, etc., as well as information such as Dairy-Free, Gluten-Free, Vegan, etc.
I will definitely be trying some of these recipes. The Cauli-Queso Dip sounds like a nice treat. The Quinoa and Lentil Stuffed Peppers look like a great alternative to traditional stuffed peppers and the Cashew Chicken will definitely be served in my house!

The Pressure Cooker Cookbook for Weight Loss is a tutorial and resource guide plus recipe collection by Sukaina Bharwani. Due out 4th Aug 2020 from Callisto on their Rockridge Press imprint, it's 230 pages (for the print copy) and available in paperback and ebook formats (ebook is available now). It's worth noting that the ebook format has a handy interactive table of contents as well as interactive links. I've really become enamored of ebooks with interactive formats lately. For Kindle Unlimited subscribers, this book is currently included in the KU subscription library to borrow and read for free.
The recipes are arranged by category: Breakfast, Sides & Snacks, Sandwiches & Bowls, Chilis Soups & Sauces, Meatless Mains (lots of good options here), Poultry & Seafood, Beef Lamb & Pork, and Desserts & Drinks. I really appreciated the inclusion of plant based dishes. These are -hearty- mains that even my meat loving family really devoured (without complaining).
Ingredient measurements are supplied in American measurements only. There's a conversion chart for metric measures in the appendices. Special recipe notes such as gluten free, vegetarian, nut free, etc are listed in the header for each recipe. The nutritional information: calories, fat, fibre, protein, &sodium content are listed for the recipes as well as serving sizes. Extra tips or recipe alternatives are listed in sidebars with the recipes. The recipes themselves are fairly straightforward and are made with easily sourced ingredients. Many are very simple, none of them are overly complex.
The photography is not abundant; most of the recipes are not illustrated, but the photographs which are included are clear and well done. I wish there had been more photographs and serving suggestions, but I do understand that extra photography increases the price of book projects very quickly.
This is a huge collection of recipes and even allowing for the fact that some of them are very similar to others in the same category, this will keep electric pressure cooker afficianados going for ages. Many of these can also easily be adapted to non-pressure cooker cooking with the codicil that food handling safety and prep be taken into account.
We're definitely going to try more of these recipes. Well written book, tasty recipes. I've dinged a star for the near-total lack of photographs. For cooks who -need- photographs for serving ideas, this will be a disappointment.
Four stars.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
This book is nice and has some recipes that I would make at home. There aren't many photos though. There are recipes for breakfast, sides and snacks, sandwiches and bowls, soaps, meatless recipes, poultry, beef, lamb and pork and some dessert recipes. I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review
I recently bought a pressure cooker and I have been struggling to find recipes for it that are actually healthy. This cookbook was a welcome relief. It was filled with recipes that look delicious and are healthy and none of them are too complicated to make!
