I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley.
I enjoyed reading about Harriets early life, her romance and ultimate marriage into the wealthy Easter family. Her husband John, was brave and courageous in rescuing her from her abusive parents...but from then on he buries himself in working for the family, leaving Harriet lonely and looking for a cause.
For me the struggles of the workers striving for equality and the political wars behind this was not interesting and I found myself skipping through these areas. Caleb Rawson was a pleasent introduction and the passion really was exciting.
Tragedies tear into the heart of this family....and reminded me that this book is actually set in the Georgian era. While the language nods to this now and then, you could think this story can sit in any era.
Overall I am glad I pushed through to the end, but this book wasn't one I would buy.
For those who enjoy this book, they will be pleased to hear it is part of a trilogy and that Beryl has a large number of published books.
Thanks to Agora Books and Beryl Kingston for the chance to read Fourpenny Flyer.

A long book to read but l wanted to know what happened to Harriet so l kept reading it. I enjoyed the book but at times found parts that l did not really understand. I know it is a historical novel but think there was too much history in it.

This was a novel that once I got into it, ai couldn’t put it down. You are transported back in time to horse drawn carriages and balls with wonderful descriptions and characters that you’d love to sit down and join for a cup of tea. The main character, Harriet, I has a complex, interesting life and you just want to learn more about her. Can’t wait for the next book!

This is book 2 in series. Didn’t enjoy this book that much. This book had some action but there was lots of long periods that dragged on.

Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. I have not read anything from this author for ages and I am kicking myself. I really enjoyed this, well written with absolutely great characters and also attention to detail. Loved it.

I received a copy of this book to review from Netgalley. Thank you for the opportunity.
This book has some good writing adn descriptions.
However, it is difficult to engage with the book as the writing seems young and the characters are quite uninteresting.
There is some action, however the book has quite long periods of little to no action. I did not really enjoy this book.
